I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
This turned out to be a sweet blend of vampy-witch drama, soft feelings, and some "good boy" spicy spice! There was a bit of action, some parent fails, a very triggering sire, and a wild array of supernatural divas who rocked magical powers, mate bonds, feral-fang whispering, and ofc sexy love bites. With blood. Drinking. Each other.
***Just something to note if you're squeamish about that on the NON-vampire side of the pairing.***
I was hooked to the tension between Rowan and Lane from page 1, and was sucked right into the drama! Their hurt feelings were sharp and acute, but not caustic and ragey, which I appreciated. And then, when they'd gotten themselves sorted out after their baggage-laden, curse-ridden, 2nd chance at forever re-meet cute, they were all kinds of soft and sweet and sexxxy sexy together.
Sure the plotty stuff was fairly familiar ground but I still had fun, and so, overall, this light-with-bite romance was a cute and comfy start to the Bound in Blood series, that should see some wild times in the future books to come!
Mateo and Hunter (book 2) pining for each other for a trillion years (hyperbole obvs) are up next, but I REALLY REALLY have my hungry eyes set on Felix and Caden (book 3), who could not be a more perfect pairing for me!
Felix is ALREADY a hot, gruff, overprotective, sad/hurting/pretty boy-whisperer, and feral Caden's his fanged but ✨energetically✨ floofy work-love-life complication who deserves to be cooed at, and omg I just can't with how I'm already gone for these two!!!! So I'm pretty excited for the rest of this series because there's legit a whole lot of smushy loving to look forward to and I can't wait!

To say Rowan and Lane started out on the wrong foot may be a bit misleading. I'd say they started off just fine until Rowan discovered Lane's coven's plot against him. As the head of a powerful coven, Rowan doesn't have the luxury of giving out trust to many. Finding out someone he was thinking of giving that trust to was planning to betray him definitely left behind bad feelings when it comes to Lane. So imagine his surprise when 10 years later Lane shows up on deaths door claiming he had a warning for Rowan before he dies.
Turns out that Rowan didn't have all the facts before he decided that Lane was complicit in his father's schemes. When Rowan finally hears Lane out after all these years, he's left with some questions. He's also left with the same pull he felt towards Lane even before he kicked him out of his city. And when he realizes their "kinks" align? Oh boy

The relationship dynamic between Rowan and Lane was very balanced. I loved how Rowan felt safe to let go in private with Lane. Usually he would have to wait until one of his private Bite Nights to get some relief from the stress of his leadership role, but with Lane he can have it any time he wants. It worked out perfectly for Lane because he could take the dominant role in the bedroom, while also providing each other support in their day to day.
I really enjoyed this series opener, especially the Onyx and Nico cameo, and I am excited about the two future books the author mentions in her notes. It looks like Hunter and his bestie are up next and I can't wait to learn what happened back in college with his bestie all those years ago.

Oh, my type of story. I love anything vampire. It was a bonus for me that there were also witches in the story. I fell in love with vampires when I read my first one at the age of 8 or 9. Through the years I have read them with a passion. I really enjoyed Rowan, who some see as a ruthless vampire. Maybe yes, he is, but because he protects the ones that can't protect themselves. I have always been a protector to others that need my help. So thank you, Colette, for writing a story with this in it. Rowan has to stay on top of who his friends are and who his enemies are. Life is hard, but he has to be able to trust them due to this. Lane is one of those that is in need of Rowan's care and protection. Lane is a witch. He prays that Rowan will see past their past, where Lane, a witch, was a spy sent to spy on him to get information in the past. Can Rowan see past their shared past? Or will he tell Lane to take a hike? I enjoyed the telling of these two men. I loved the telling of this story of two men that have been put into each other's lives at dark times but also in times of need. I have to check out what other books this author has.

His Eternal Temptation is an urban fantasy get together by author Colette Rivera. The story is told in alternating third-person perspective with Rowan getting a slightly higher percentage of the chapters to narrate. There are a lot of fun tropes in the story, including a mix of opposites attract with enemies to lovers, a kind of Dom/sub energy between the MCs, hurt/comfort (but the hurting is strife and the comfort is cuddling), and forced proximity due to the curse. Rowan’s past also forms a significant power struggle element that shapes much of the action in the story.
Overall, I thought this was a pretty good vampire love story. Even though I didn’t think the individual elements–forced proximity driven by a heinous curse, traumatic pasts, redemption–were flawlessly combined, they did connect many of the seemingly different storylines into a bigger whole. If you’re looking for a good vampire love story or like second-chance romances, this could be a good title for you.

Really great storyline. Super creative and engaging, and I enjoyed the enemies bound together vibes.
I’m still new to Colette’s Shearwater Landing world, but I’m quite happy to have ‘discovered’ it.
Lane and Rowan had a chance, then misunderstanding and a complicated world that imbues a lack of trust led to falling out. Until Lane stumbles back in, and Rowan can’t get rid of him, no matter how much he wants to. But does he really want to?? LOL
With multiple problems brewing and an inescapable bond, they give us an entertaining romance.

A fantastic book, I just love these universe the author has created.
Lane knew he wouldn't be welcomed but tried to warn Rowan anyway. What he hadn't plan on was for that crush of years ago to bloom to love.
Rowan was always composed, he was always the fierce leader, but with Lane he started to show cracks until he couldn't deny who he truly was and was fully accepted by Lane.
They made an amazing couple

The dynamics in this book were so surprising. It was nice to see a deeper level to Rowan and discover that who he presents to the outside world is not who he is on the inside. Seeing him grow and discover who he is through his connection with Lane, as well as Lane’s own character development throughout the book was the perfect accompaniment to the storyline.
Heads up; you do need to have read the Lovers of the damned series before diving into this one as the characters in the third book of that series do show up in this one.

This is going to sound strange but I felt like I was reading two books slapped together.
The first half of the book was 5 stars all the way. Rowan was the perfect older cold unfeeling Vampire and Lane was really the misunderstood other half that I really felt for because he was ignored so painfully by Rowan that I could feel it through the book.
The push and pull between Rowan and Lane was just the perfect amount of yearning and emotional turmoil as we watch them work around each other trying to untangle the curse holding them together.
Up until they got together, Lane had been portrayed as quite petulant and at times immature whilst Rowan was the responsible older one. The turnaround with their personalities and dynamics in the second half of the book really caught me out cold and unfortunately didn’t work for me. It was “hot” but it was also “not them”. Further, mentions of groups and sharing in future (not on page) also gave me quite an uncomfortable feeling to end on - this being just my own personal preferences when reading edited to add - I somehow missed this in the triggers when I skimmed it at the start but the author was upfront about the sharing thing

4.25 stars - I always love discovering a new paranormal world and found one with this new-to-me author. Here, we have Lane, a witch who has been cursed and is dying. After learning about plans of a coven to take out the ruling vampire, Rowan, he manages to make it to Rowan’s doorstep in time to warn him before he dies. But Rowan and his people decide to try and save Lane, which ends up with Rowan and Lane then sharing the curse and not being able to be separated.
Rowan and Lane have a bit of a past. About 10 years prior, Rowan believed Lane seduced him in order to spy on his coven. He banished Lane and his coven from the city. But, all is not as it seemed and Lane has to do some convincing to prove to Rowan he isn’t lying. Meanwhile, there are feral vampires showing up randomly all claiming Rowan sired them and causing havoc in the city. So, between the feral vamps and Rowan’s people trying to find a cure for the curse, there is a lot going on.
Once Rowan is convinced Lane’s motives were actually to help, the attraction that brought them together previously starts to shine through. Rowan is a complicated character with a not so great past. He killed his sire after 100 years of abuse and degradation and has spent the last 100 years trying to overcome the things his sire complained about, namely his neediness and longing for comfort and affection. In doing so, he has basically isolated himself from actual romantic relationship and instead surrounded himself with his own coven of vamps.
However, it turns out that Lane is exactly what Rowan needs and Lane needs to give Rowan those very same things to be happy. There is also the submissive side of Rowan that he simply cannot show others, as he must keep up his strong leader appearances. But, he can be all of that with Lane. They really are a good match, and Lane cherishes everything about Rowan that his sire threw away.
There are a lot of interesting tidbits about this world that I really would like to explore some more. There are unique characters, some with future books, and some apparently have their own already. So, I will be adding them all to my reading list to catch up and watch the rest of this story play out.

It's not dark dark but it's definitely still good to take a peek before jumping in! 🖤 This is the first book in the new Bound In Blood series focusing on Shearwater Landing's Vampire Coven we meet Rowan in The Lover's of The Damned Series but it's not necessary to read that series before jumping into this one!

Lane just wanted to deliver a warning to Rowan to let him prepare for what's coming but Rowan can't let Lane die so he takes a part of the curse onto himself inadvertently linking him to Lane. This keeps Lane alive but now he is tied to Rowan, literally, he can't separate more then a few feet without excruciating pain erupting. These two have to learn to trust eachother and work together to find out who almost killed Lane and is now coming for Rowan.
I was GLUED to the pages right from the beginning! There was no build up here you are thrown right in! There was so much happening between the plot and then the connection between Rowan and Lane I could not put this down! That ending though 🥹 was one of the most satisfying HEA's I have had in a while! I definitely let out a little screech when Onyx popped up and helped slide some pieces into place 🖤 I'm absolutely invested in this Coven and can't wait to see who we get next!!

There was so much happening between the plot and then the connection between Rowan and Lane I could not put this down! That ending though 🥹 was one of the most satisfying HEA's I have had in a while! I definitely let out a little screech when Onyx popped up and helped slide some pieces into place 🖤 I'm absolutely invested in this Coven and can't wait to see who we get next!!

This new Colette Rivera series 'Bound in Blood' takes place in the same universe as her 'Lovers of the Damned' Shearwater Landing. In fact, we see mated couple apothecary witch Nico and demon Onyx play important roles here. You'll also meet Rowan Valero there. You don't have to read that series to enjoy this. However you should to enhance your experience of this book. When I started reading it, I had no idea what to expect except it being written by Ms. Rivera. It was a pleasant surprise to see Shearwater Landing mentioned. I then knew it would be an excellent story. I was right. It is excellent. Colette Rivera is easily one of my favorite authors.
Be aware: This story does get graphic at times with gore and violence. It's in the vampire/magic world, after all. It isn't gratuitous, though. The spiciness level is kinda high. Don't look for anything wrong with this book--there isn't anything. It's perfect as is.
Despite their tumultuous past and start in this book, I think you'll quickly warm up to both Lane and Rowan. They match each other's personalities and are enhanced by their differences. They're blind to it especially when they have to stay close to each other in order to stay alive, even though Rowan banished Lane and his father's coven from 'his' city Shearwater Landing years ago. Forced proximity and all. Lane is a middling witch and Rowan is a vampire who's an atypical one. He owns Arcadia, a strip club and casino. Colette is one of the authors that can very skilfully write an enemies-to-lovers story, and that’s a precious talent. The way Rowan and Lane start their relationship – distrustful, impatient and full of unwelcomed desires – is pure art. Their bickering, heart-breaking moments of honesty, the need to protect themselves and others around them, all that makes up a perfect symphony of real emotions and motivations.
I liked their dynamic when they started as enemies, I loved when they tentatively started the D/s relationship, and I found happiness in their happiness. Rowan’s trauma and need to protect himself was heart-wrenching but in the best way. Lane surprised me with his maturity during the crisis moments in the story, and I would lie if I said I was hoping for a more drawn-out culmination with a (sensible) level of suffering for the MCs.
My only caveat is the mushy-love stage by the end of the book. I’m sure some people will find it nice and something that they were waiting for, but for me Rowan-Lane relationship worked the best when they were a little bit more sarcastic towards themselves, not all lovey-dovey.
Sexy times were A+ though, no notes.
And fuck Marshall, I’m not buying the end of his small story arc. He can go and rot in a ditch, as far as I’m concerned.

I loved this author’s Lovers of the Damned series (highly recommend!), so I was absolutely feral to get my hands on this one about the mysterious vampire leader we’ve met in those books.
I was pleasantly surprised by Rowan’s story. His demeanor, trauma, his mental state, his love, and his submission were done so well and honored what we knew of him but also added so much to this formerly side character.
Enter Lane. I didn’t know what to expect with him, but I do think he complemented Rowan well. Their love story moved kind of fast in the sense in one chapter they couldn’t look at each other and in the next clothes were off, but I appreciated that they had somewhat of a history and the attraction was there. They’re both really cute and I’m glad they could find what they need in each other.
As for the broader plot, like the other series, I was all in. I appreciate how this author is able to world build but also make you care about the characters and their romance at the same time. The politics of vampires and witches in this small city was so interesting and I wish we got more as I feel like it was a bit rushed to be solved in the end. I’m really looking forward to the next few books as the broader plot builds and we meet more couples.

I love the universe that Collette Rivera has created. If you haven't read Lovers of the Damned, I would absolutely read that first. It sets the world that this book is in and some characters from that book show up in this book. Also, the main character in this book, the vampire Rowan, was in the other books as well.
When I first started reading the book I didn't know if I'd like it. The way that Rowan hated Lane the witch was super hard to read. However, as that part of the story resolved we, the readers, realize why he had so much anger which was based in a TON of hurt.
The characters are a bit different then other books: Rowan, the very old vampire, is somewhat of the submissive in the book. He leads so much and is in charge of so much he enjoys someone taking control. Lane, the witch, would in some books would be the submissive to the vampire, is the dominant character. But more than that he takes care of Rowan so sweetly I love it.
This is definitely a slow burn. It takes a while to get to the steamy parts but once you do it's great.
I love all the side characters in the book as well as seeing characters from past books.

I really enjoyed this start to the new series from Colette. The paranormal world is immersive, and the combination of political intrigue, magic, and romance kept me hooked from beginning to end.
Rowan was a fascinating character. He projects the image of an untouchable, ruthless leader, but as the story unfolds you get to see the compassionate and protective person beneath the surface. Lane was equally easy to root for, and I loved watching him grow in confidence as he proved there was far more to him than his past mistakes.
The forced proximity created by the curse worked brilliantly, giving Rowan and Lane no choice but to rely on each other. Their relationship develops at a satisfying pace, with plenty of emotional tension alongside the supernatural action.
The story also lays the groundwork for what promises to be yet another exciting series. I'd recommend reading the previous Lovers of the Damned series first, as you'll get a lot more from the returning characters and connections, but this was an excellent beginning to the Bound in Blood world.

3.5 stars. I was excited to finally read Rowan's story, after getting to know him a little in the previous series. Lane is a witch who gets a deadly curse placed on him. Although his coven is at odds with Rowan, Lane goes to warn Rowan about a plot against him. In trying to save Lane, Rowan ends up sharing the curse, so they need to stay together until it's broken. They have a rocky start, but forced proximity and Lane's natural warmth and sincerity win Rowan over. He feels free to be himself and express his needs to Lane, and so starts a sweet supportive relationship where they try to give each other everything they need. Although Rowan is a strong coven leader, he has had a traumatic past with his sire, and Lane is just the person to help him overcome this.
I enjoyed getting to know them and the side characters. There's interesting world building, as well as plenty of action and spice along with the romance. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I loved reading the Lovers of the Damned series and watching all the demons find their mates, and now it was Rowan’s turn.
I don’t know what I expected from Rowan’s and Lane’s personalities, but seeing them go from one-sided dislike to love was really enjoyable.
Lane was incredibly mature and helped Rowan work through many of his struggles, while Rowan was so much more than just a fierce leader he wanted others to see. Seeing Rowan struggle to overcome his fears and let go of his past was heartbreaking, but then Lane was there to comfort him and offer him a safe space.
As a side note, I don’t think reading the Lovers of the Damned series is necessary in order to understand what is happening in this story. The two characters that do appear from that series are quickly introduced, so you are not missing any important information. I do, however, highly recommend it, just because the books are a fun read.✨

This was such a great story and I absolutely loved being back in Shearwater Landing! This is Rowan’s story whom some of us know from Lovers of the Damned series. I just loved getting to know Rowan so much better and what makes him tick! He is so stoic in front of everyone but has his own vulnerabilities which I loved seeing. Lane is the witch that Rowan banished from the city years before which has shown up on his doorstep dying but with a warning for him. There’s so much mistrust between these two and they both are trying so hard to protect themselves. I love the dynamic between them and it warms my heart to see Rowan’s walls come down. I loved seeing Lane’s character grow through the story. These two were so great together! An absolutely wonderful story that I highly recommend! This is my honest opinion of this complimentary copy of this book

Oh my, I loved this! It was so nice to be back in Shearwater Landing. I miss those crazy demons, but it was also fantastic to spend some time with the Valero coven of Vampires. Rowan has made cameo appearances in several of the demon's books, but I love that he has his own.
Even though there were evil villains and plenty of blood and gore, this was really a sweet and sexy enemies to lovers / forced proximity / hurt/comfort story. Rowan was a little boy lost under his gruff controlling exterior and Lane was there to support him the whole way. I did find Rowan's abrupt about turn and decision to let Lane in a little jarring and think that should have happened in increments, but that may just be me.
The mystery of who was after the coven was pretty obvious, but I enjoyed the tale nevertheless.

Wooooow!! I knew Rowan was hiding A LOT under his fine suits, but dang, this was amazing!!! I'm so happy with how his story played out. Watching them go from enemies to reluctant friends (of sorts) to being exactly what the other one needed all along. It's so damn sweet. As always, Colette's books come with mystery, action, a bit of drama and a lot of tender moments. Watching Rowan open up. Ugh. Melting.
If you like paranormal romance, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, found family and open door spice, put this one on your TBR!!

While this can be read as a standalone, you should absolutely read the "Lovers of the Damned"-Series too for maximum enjoyment!! 🩷

Rowan and Lane are so sweet. I absolutely loved reading this book.
When Lane is cursed after hearing a plot against Rowan, he returns to the vampire who cast his family out of the city. Fighting his inevitable death to warn the vampire he once had feelings for.
Saving Lane means he and Rowan end up bound together and a decade of distrust and anger will have to be addressed while they are forced into close proximity. Not exactly enemies and definitely not friends, can Lane put his trust into Rowan? The man who think he betrayed him? He kind of has to, his life literally depends on keeping close.
Lane and Rowan are sweet together and watching them communicate and overcome supposed differences was nice.
This book kept me interested from the start and I can't wait to dive into book 2.

Lane and Rowan's story was a spicy enemies to lovers paranormal romance. I was intrigued by the high stakes setup, and the buildup of tension between the leads was the perfect payoff. Most of the book centered around Rowan and Lane figuring out who was after them, and the suspense elements kept the plot moving forward in a satisfying way. Romance wise, I enjoyed seeing Lane and Rowan's sharp edges soften, and their chemistry was pretty dang good once they allowed themselves to revel in it. For me, the surprise villain wasn't as much of a surprise as I'd hoped, but it was still thrilling to see how everything panned out with the coven. Rowan and Lane more than earned their happily ever after, and it was fun to get a little peek at what that life together looked like!

Paranormal romance is one of my favorite genres, so I was very excited to pick this book up. Forced proximity because of a curse, a second chance, vampires and witches! So much fun. Rowan was a sweetheart and deserved to have Lane carry some of his burdens. And Lane is more than up to the task. These two were perfect together, and despite their rocky start, they figured it out. I saw the major conflict of the book a mile away but it was still entertaining. I’d say the resolution was a bit rushed, but I liked that it wasn’t the end of the book right at the moment. I liked the solution Rowan discovered for him and Lane as well. Overall this book was very interesting, fast paced, and sweet. There are some spicy scenes but those are very intimate, sweet moments as well.

I really enjoyed this book! Rowan plays a pretty central role in the Lovers of the Damned series, so I was excited to read his book. And it didn’t disappoint!
I like that all of Rivera’s books have some sort of mystery plot going on, along with the central romance. In this one, a mysterious coven was out to get Rowan and the rest of the Valero coven. I like that the side characters are well fleshed out and even though I could see the twist coming from a mile away, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment.
I also enjoy the D/s relationship between Lane and Rowan, with a bit of praise kink thrown in, too. As always, Rivera writes great, ongoing and enthusiastic consent, which I’m always here for.

We have met Rowan before in the Lover’s of the Damned series especially since Rowan and Nico are friends. The story starts with Lane travelling the roads to the Valero coven as he has been cursed. He overheard another coven saying that we were after Rowan’s coven. He finally makes it and explains what happened. Rowan doesn’t believe him as 10 years before said he was spying on him. With Rowan helping him, they realize that the curse if with Rowan, but they are not able to be more than a few feet apart. I loved how they were with each other and how Lane helped Rowan out. When they finally realized who the person was who was creating feral vampires, it was a big surprise. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this world.
