Listen, I didn’t think there’d ever be a MMC that topped my love for Weston Calloway but then Nick Banks entered the series and completely STOLE my heart!

This book was absolutely brimming with all of the best fall vibes & festivities! If you just read Fall I Want, I HIGHLY recommend reading this one next! It’s a part of the Billionaire Situation series but it is definitely tied directly to Cozy Creek because that’s where our leads experience their magical fall romance.

I love Lyra Parish’s stories so much and this one was just fantastic. The romantic chemistry between Julie & Nick was off the charts sweet & HOT. There is a naughty wishlist involved that Nick was more than happy to check off… one by one. 😮‍💨🤭

Both Julie & Nick had a countdown to the end of their ‘fake’ relationship ticking down in their heads. When they let that thought fade out, what was left was pure magic.

First of all, thank you Lyra Parish for the ARC.
I loved it! The Hookup Situation totally caught me off guard because I totally thought it was going to be a cheesy fall book - in terms it was but she had some 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and man, did I enjoy every second of it!

Julie Loveland is needing assistance in staying away from her on and off again ex fiancée. While Nick Bankers needs an attitude adjustment and is sent on well needed vacation for 6 weeks. So as traditional in your typical Hallmark Cozy Town do these two decided try out the traditional fake dating scene for 6 weeks until Nick goes back to New York. But the question is can they remain friends, or can they be something else?

This is the first time I’m reading anything by this author and I will be eating her up! Now the Hookup Situation is a stand alone but it is apart of the Billionaire Situation Universe so I would personally love to start from the beginning to be introduced to all the side characters I’m so fond of!

I'm so thankful I got to visit Cozy Creek again! I got all the same warm, cozy fall vibes that I felt while reading "Fall I Want". I just wanted to jump into "The Hookup Situation" so I can be a part of the homey small town family.

We got to follow the storyline of Nick and Julie, who we have already met in other Lyra Parish series. I will always love how they are all interconnected; it makes it even more enjoyable!

Nick has been going through the motions since his sister Eden passed. He was living the life he thought people wanted him to live, not living for himself. However, when he decided to take a trip back to Cozy Creek, he begins to make peace and find happiness.

Julie is a workaholic who loves fall and has a walking red flag as her ex-boyfriend. So when Craig shows up at her coffee shop, Nick is quick to step in as her fake boyfriend. The chemistry between Nick and Julie is perfect! She makes Nick more spontaneous, causing a positive shift in his life.

The community of Cozy Creek might be my favorite part. I love that the whole community shows up and comes together when Julie needs it. The "romance book club," although nosey, truly wants the best for others.

I highly recommend adding The Hookup Situation to your fall TBR. All the pumpkin cravings, fall festivals, and seasonal treats throughout were screaming fall. Not to mention the amazing characters that you will fall in love with!

This book is why I don’t trust ARC reviews. This was not a 5⭐️ book. I had high hopes for Nick and these two had zero romantic chemistry.

It started off good, I love a troubled MMC and a sassy FMC but something about them didn’t click. Their dialogue was juvenile- more YA then mid-30s and the storyline was just mehhh.

The Boss Situation is still my favorite.

This was a 4.5 ⭐️ read. This book was so cute and the fall and autumn 🍂 vibes just made me warm and fuzzy. I’ve never really been a big fan or thought about fall season and the pumpkin spice lattes or pumpkins but this book just awakened the feeling in me. Nick was such a sweetheart! Who can resist falling in love with a handsome and sweet guy who tends to his girl’s needs and has a protective streak! Julie was so sweet and kind. I loved that she was fall and pumpkin obsessed all while having a good head on her shoulders. With the fall scented love brewing, a dash of heat between these two and seeing other characters from the previous books, as well as having a small town community who rallies around each other, this book was a perfect fall themed read!

Lyra you never fail to get me hooked to your books!
This book was absolute perfection and loved every second of it. I loved how you brought us back to Cozy Creek. Giving me the fall read I needed to bring in the fall season.

We are back in Cozy Creek where Jules ex returns and wants another chance with her. The only way to see if he will back off is for Jules to tell him she has a boyfriend. Nick an ex hockey player agrees to be her fake boyfriend to help get rid of her ex but their relationship doesn't seem to be so fake.

I loved Nick and Jules's relationship so much! They were perfection! Nick is now added to my never ending book boyfriend list he was truly the sweetest and I loved how protective he was towards Jules. I can't wait to see what the rest of the series holds!🥰

First of all, even though by the end you know whose book is next, I just have to say I love the side character, Blaire, and she needs her own story! All the side characters are great, some having their own books as well, but you don't have to have read their books first to be able to follow along in this one (but you won't regret it!). There were so many great moments in this book - funny (like I actually laughed out loud several times), tender, sweet, hot, emotional - everything you could ask for which makes this a five star book for me. I admit, this one was a little personal for me, as my hubby and I met when our timing wasn't right and we were lucky enough to find each other later when our timing was better. It just proves that love will lead you back someday, and everyone deserves their HEA. Highly recommend this book to all!

That she is dating someone so when ex hockey star Nick Banks rolls into town it’s perfect timing. They had a connection when he was there last time but then he ghosted her so he agrees to play along but, will this one little fib turn out to become something real? Nick is trying to find who he truly is again, maybe Jules is just what he needs to wake him up. These two are great together! The slow but hot connection that goes from friends to lovers is at the perfect pace. So cozy, so sweet but with plenty of steam! Oh and Jules’ moments with her friend Blair are so funny. Get ready to smile your way through this wonderful small town romance with all the feels. A Pumpkin Spiced Filled Top Read! Told in first person and dual POV.

I’m 36% in and unfortunately I think I’m going to be DNFing this book. I love romance novels but I think the authors writing style just isn’t my favorite. For some people, this might be a great book for you! But for me it seemed very cringy and cliche and I don’t trust myself to give this book a fair chance with the amount of times I caught myself sighing and rolling my eyes.

Best of luck to this author! In the future I would be willing to try their books again but maybe not for a few years.

I loved every second of these two’s story! I loved the setting, the characters, honestly everything about this book. It made me immediately go pick up Fall I Want (kicking myself for not reading that one sooner) and I fell more in love with these characters. This little small town has my heart. I hope Lyra has plans to give us more books in this town because I’m obsessed.

Honestly, this was not one of favorites in this series. While I loved Jules and her outlook on life, and Nick for his character growth after a significant loss and dealing with grief, their journey together as a couple throughout this story was actually quite frustrating. I would constantly have to remind myself that I was reading about a couple in their mid and late thirties, because the back and forth of whether they wanted to commit to something more serious seemed rather immature and more well suited for those starting out in life in their young to mid twenties.

This book is as sweet as maple syrup. Nick and Julie are sugar and spice and everything nice right from the beginning of the book.

After a chance meeting the year before, Nick enters Julie’s coffee shop and the two reconnect. What starts as a friendship quickly turns to a fake relationship and then a hookup situation. There is also a slight suspense element with Julie’s ex that comes into play.

If you have read Lyra’s books before then you will get Easter eggs throughout as couples reappear.

The one aspect that didn’t work for me was the arbitrary deadline date they set for their relationship. Getting both perspectives throughout the book, we as readers know the outcome early on and so it just seemed like a futile plot point.

As has happened for me with every other "Billionaire Situation" book, I was pulled into the pages, and found it very hard to stop reading. I love when an author gives me characters and storylines that consume me, and Nick and Julie's love story was everything I wanted for them. This has ALL the pumpkin latte goodness and small town warm feelings you can handle!! Definitely a perfect Fall read!

Nick Banks is living a hollow existence, and everyone in his family and friend group is done with it. When he completely loses his cool in a meeting, his brother Asher banishes him from the office for weeks. He is allowed to return to the office for the next board meeting in November, and not before. Needing a soft space to land, he chooses to spend time in Cozy Creek with Zane, hoping he'll be received kindly by his friend (IYKYK). He shouldn't have worried about Zane and Autumn being happy to see him, but more nervous about seeing Julie again.

Julie is a fixture in Cozy Creek, running her family's 80+ year old business, Cozy Coffee. In a town where everyone knows your business, it doesn't take long for news to reach her that her ex boyfriend Craig is back in town, set on reconnecting. Unfortunately, she's wholly uninterested in that, and when put on the spot, Nick becomes her fake boyfriend, to throw off her ex.

What is supposed to be fake between Nick and Julie is difficult to stay fake, as these two have an easy way between them, an underlying friendship that they look to preserve, once the deadline (when Nick can return to his office) is over. It's easy to see the feelings grow between them (Nick's romancing of Jules is so swoon-worthy!), even if they themselves are resistant to shift into the "real feelings" area. The steamy chemistry between them is impossible to hide, and their sizzling attraction can be seen by everyone, but it's entertaining to see them try to hide it!

The drama and insistence of Craig (the ex-boyfriend) to reconnect with Julie and his attempts to influence her views on Nick kept me concerned for her well being, and on the edge of my seat, worried about his next move. Although I shouldn't have, as Nick is more than capable of keeping what's his, and even if they both denied it, Jules was always his, and he hers. While Craig isn't the only trouble they are facing, deciding to deal with all of it together was one of my most favorite parts of this couple's relationship journey.

While this can be enjoyed as a stand alone, I really recommend reading this series in order, so the connections and backstories of the couples are clear and add the most context to this storyline. Worth your time, IMO. They are easy to ready, engaging, and addictive, and I cannot wait to read Patterson's story next.

The Hookup Situation is the newest standalone book in a Romantic Comedy series and this series gets better and better with each new book, I love it so much and already can’t wait for the next one!

When Julie’s ex comes back to town it isn’t easy to get rid off him and the only solution might be fake dating Nick, a billionaire playboy she had an instant connection with when they met last year and who comes back to the town on a forced break from work. It’s easy for them to pretend to be a couple, but going from friends to friends with benefits to trying to date for real for 6 weeks makes their feelings for each other undeniable and with them living in 2 different places, dealing with paparazzi and Julie’s ex, the decision whether to continue their relationship or part ways at the end of the 6 weeks isn’t going to be easy.

I always know I’m going to have a lot of fun when I pick up Lyra’s books and, as always, she didn’t disappoint with this one, I was hooked from literally page one and all the Autumn vibes made it even better. I was curious about Nick and Julie while reading the previous books and I loved them so much here, I could feel the tension between them from their first meeting and loved seeing them go from friends to friends with benefits to lovers and the fake dating trope made it even better, they were absolutely perfect for each other with their banter and great communication and I loved how they supported each other through the difficult situations they faced. And let me say the spicy scenes were *chief’s kiss*, I found myself blushing a few times. I also loved seeing familiar characters from previous books, it’s always so much fun coming back to this world, I loved them all and already can’t wait to see them again.

The Hookup Situation is an amazing new installment in this incredible series, I loved it and recommend it and the whole series to everyone, especially those looking for a perfect Autumn read (the vibes were vibing in this one). I already can’t wait for Lyra’s next book!

The Hookup Situation might as well be the twin sibling that was given up for adoption that you didn’t know that you had! It’s part of its own series (Book 5 in The Billionaire Situation Series) but also is 💯 part of Cozy Creek!!!

I LOVED IT!
It was amazing to go back to cozy creek, to not only visit with Autumn and Zane but also the relationship between Julie and Nicholas that started to form from the end of Fall I Want!

The friend ship that Julie and Nicholas formed was epic! Nicholas came back to Cozy Creek after being forced to take a vacation, so he went to the last place that he felt happy. The first stop he made? Was of course to see Julie, because he couldn’t get her off his mind from when the chatted the last time he was in town about 8 months prior.

The way that these two formed a friendship first and made a deal for Nicholas to help scare off Julies psycho ex but to help Julie fulfill her naughty bucket list 😆 so they enter into a sort of friends with bennies situation.

The way that, from the start, how Nicholas was there to support, protect and care for Julie, there was no way that he hadn’t already fallen for her. He was just waiting for her to catch up…

I also LOVED how we got to catch up with the characters from The Boss Situation and The Bodyguard Situation too!

If you read out of order that is fine, however I HIGHLY RECOMMEND reading Fall I Want before reading The Hookup Situation!

If anyone looked at Nick, they would think that his life is great. Not to him it isn't. He's not happy, not even his love of hockey made him happy. He has a giant hole in his life that he can't seem to fill. He misses his sister and the life that they had growing up. He needs a drastic change and some time off and nobody knows that more than his brother. Cozy Creek, here he comes.
Julie is a Boss, literally, in what she considers the best coffee shop in Cozy Creek. Her business is good, her personal life on the other hand, needs major help. Now her on again, off again ex is back in town. But she's made up her mind, not this time buddy! Her red hair has made a fetish for most men but she needs a real man. Or a distraction.
When Nick walks in the shop door, all the sparks that flew between them the year before immediately come back to life. He tells her that he's staying for six weeks and he wants to spend them with her.
It starts with a dinner, which he wouldn't take a "no" for, the next thing they know, their easy friendship picks right back up and it's like they've known each other for years. He offers his help right in the "Nick" of time and BOOM, he's her fake boyfriend!

Do you need a billionaire romance and ready for fall?

Then this is the perfect book for you.

Nick needs to get away and make a change in his life. So he chooses the small town his best friend moved to. Far away from the corporate world that seems to be sucking him dry.

There he runs into Julie, for the third time. The best friend of his best friend’s wife. What was suppose to be a simple visit to a coffee shop ends with him announcing that Julie is his girlfriend. To the whole coffee shop.

Julie wasn’t expecting to see Nick ever again. But when she needs to get her ex off her back, he steps in without any hesitation. Now they are fake dating and need to keep up the ruse. It can’t be that hard, right? Just until Nick has to go back to New York. Faking dating with a November first expiration date. Seems simple.

That is until they kiss and things change.

Get your fall hookup with this book and enjoy a protective billionaire. How I wish we could in real life. Nick is such a green flag.

Honestly, Nick and Julie’s relationship happens fast but done so well. I wouldn’t call it insta love but it was quick because they started off as friends. But they communicated and wow that is such a small ask but such a big deal.

This book is literally so fall coated that it’s perfect to get you into the fall mood. Or start your fall reads.

This is the fifth book in this series (but the first one I read) and can definitely be read as a standalone. There are mentions of characters from the previous books but you won’t be lost. This book also ties into Fall I Want, which is part of The Cozy Creek Collection. It takes places in the same small town and is the story of Nick and Julie’s best friends.

I will say that it rubbed me the wrong way that (especially during one part) that basically the whole was caught up in Nick and Julie’s relationship. I mean too caught up. Like trying to get pictures of them and constantly calling them soulmates and saying how in love they are. Honestly, that is why I took a star off. I didn’t like how intense they were and in their faces, like they need to give them some breathing room, especially because they were a new “relationship”.

I absolutely loved this one! It was a fun and entertaining read and I just loved Jules and Nick! I was engaged and loved the little connections for readers that have read the previous books and series from Lyra Parish. It isn't necessary to have read any of them to fully enjoy this one but those tidbits are like little treasures if you have. This book was a lot of fun to read and I loved the humor that we get throughout the story as we watch these two fall in love and overcome the obstacles in their way to truly being together and making it work, with a little help from their friends of course. I loved how hard and fast that Nick fell for Jules and how he was such a cinnamon roll for her and only her. She brought out that side to him and it was cute. Jules' ex has shown up in town and wants to get back with her and in order to avoid that situation she says she has a boyfriend and in steps Nick to agree to play her fake boyfriend, if she helps him out and shows him where he goes wrong in relationships. The fake relationship part of it was fun and while they don't openly discuss it, it becomes clear pretty fast that it doesn't stay fake for long. The hot, spicy fun they get up to in the bedroom as well!! The story is well written, engaging and easy to get lost in. It's a great Fall book with all the fun Fall activities our characters get up to and really make me want to visit this small town and take part in the activities. Overall, I truly enjoyed this one and can't wait for the next in the series!

🧡 Completely loved this couple and their paths. Loved the spotlight on lingering grief and the complexity that presents in our lives.

The issues the couple faced along with the love and experience was so refreshing. I truly enjoyed this novel start to finish.

Julie & Nick had an instant connection when he was visiting Cozy Creek but then he went back to NY and didn't talk to her anymore. Now, he's back in town trying to find himself again. What started as fake dating to keep Julie's ex away, turned into a true, loving relationship. I love how committed Nick was to Julie. He would literally do anything for her. When Julie's ex starts causing some trouble, protective Nick entered the chat and I was here for it!

I loved all the fall vibes it had - pumpkin spice lattes, corn mazes, festivals. Julie is a fall loving girl and i'm definitely right there with her.

This one definitely had some spice! I felt myself skipping through parts of them though because it felt like there were a lot and I wanted to get back to the plot. One other thing I didn't quite like was the back and forth between them trying to decide if they were going to continue did feel a tad bit childish to me.

you know the quote from legally blonde where she goes, "You look like the fourth of July, makes me want a hot dog real bad." Well, this book makes me feel like but change out the fourth of July for Halloween and hot dog for pumpkin spice latte 😍

reading books that take place during my fav time of year makes me so giddy, and this book wasn't any different. 🎃

Julie, my fall queen, I am obsessed with you. You are immensely loyal, kind, and confident. You take life by the horns and really live your days to the fullest.

Nick, under all that hard exterior, you are sweeter than pumpkin pie. Especially when it comes to Julie. You will quite literally do anything for her, including beat up her ex if need be. And let's face it, he deserves a solid punch to the face bc fuck that guy.

These two know pretty early on how they feel about the other but are terrified of how the other feels...scary right? So that's why they wait for midnight on Halloween to exchange letters that could change everything.

Dont even get me started on what happened on the office or the corn maze!!! 😈🥵🥴

Julie fell for his charming ways, honesty, and his dashing good looks, but as was her luck with men, he disappeared without an explanation. When Nick resurfaced in Cozy Creek with a deadline attached to his visit, Julie agreed to use him to scare away her crazy ex-boyfriend.

Nick quickly became a part of the community and Julie was surprised at how well he fit into her life. She wondered why he would want to live in a small town when he had the world at his fingertips in New York City? What she didn’t know was that Nick led a lonely life, surrounded by women who only wanted his money, and long, tedious days at the office. Nick never forgot about his time with Julie and if he was only in Cozy Creek for a short time, he might as well make the best of a fantastic situation. His life felt complete when he was with Julie and in his heart he could see them together forever! He wanted to make her smile and keep her safe because even small towns have their share of drama. Nick and Julie had a close-knit circle of friends who were like family to them, and they could even see the sparks that flew between them. I can see why Julie fell for Nick’s flirtatious and persuasive personality and his quest to make every day an adventure. He treated Julie like a Princess, and all Nick wanted in return was her love!

5 Star Review The Hookup Situation (Billionaire Situation #5) by Lyra Parish

This is ex hockey player Nick Banks and Julie (Jule’s) story and is one I loved from the first chapter to the last, ticking all the boxes for me.

When her ex Craig, returns to Cozy Creek stating he wants her back, Julie panics and says she is already involved. Turning to Nick to help her she is shocked when he agrees.

As their pretend relationship developed it was entertaining to watch as they moved from fake to real. The banter was witty and their chemistry intense.

Craig had me concerned at time at the lengths he will go to get Jules back.

I loved how in tune Nick and Jules were and the open communication between them. The characters were engaging and I quickly became invested in the story that Ms. Parish wove.

This story has quickly become my favourite . There was nothing I didn’t love about The Hookup Situation.

Ahhh I wanted Nick and Jules story when I finished Fall I Want, thankfully I only had to wait a few weeks 😍 taking place in the same cozy town, this book was so much fun!

Jules ex returns to Cozy Creek, he wants another chance with her. She tells him she’s seeing someone in hopes he backs off, but now she needs a “boyfriend”. This is where Nick comes in, Jules asks for his help and he agrees. As time goes on, their pretend relationship doesn’t feel so pretend.

I really enjoyed this book, billionaire romance meets fall vibes. I love Cozy Creek, so it was nice to visit again! I love Jules and Nick together, they’re the cutest. I love how Lyra’s characters, towns and series are interconnected, it gives it such a found family dynamic that I love. Can’t wait for Patterson’s story next 🏒😍
