⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unraveled Lies by Wren A. Hollis

Wow… this book grabbed me by the emotions and refused to let go 😭🔥 I went in thinking, “This isn’t usually my kind of read,” and then suddenly I’m 200 pages deep, emotionally attached, and bargaining with fictional people like they can hear me 😂

Donovan? Ohhh he is IT 😮‍💨❤️ Loyal, messy, lovable, and the type of MMC who ruins all others for you. And Stella? Strong, stubborn, fiery, and so real you feel every single one of her highs and lows right along with her.

The twists had me gasping out loud 😳 the tension had me kicking my feet 🤭 and the emotional chaos??? ELITE. I experienced the full feelings buffet: joy, frustration, shock, sadness, hope—basically everything but a nap.

I’m not proud to admit how many times I yelled, “WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!” 😅 But that’s how you know a book has you by the throat. Wren A. Hollis wrote this with so much heart it practically bleeds off the page. I forgave her every time she ripped my heart out… eventually.

Counting down the days until book two! ⏳📚

P.S. — TEAM DONOVAN FOREVER ❤️🔥😉

Such an emotional rollercoaster with so many twists and turns along the way. Stella was a strong and independent fmc and Donovan was a great book boyfriend. Stella and Donovan were high school sweethearts that broke up and meet again a couple years later. The spark is there and it ignites. What happens if it burns too fast?

Oh gosh where do I even start?! This book had me feeling happiness, sadness, hatred, confusion, and so much more!! Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next I was completely surprised. At around 50% I was locked in, sweating, and could not put this down!! I finished this book hours ago but I still don't know what to do with my life now?! I'm still not over the plot twist between the MCs and I'm so SAD and MAD that the MC that I loved so much turnedddd!!

The main reason I gave this book 4.5 out of 5 was that I wanted to know more details about some of the events that happened and the reason the main character did what they did.

Wren A. Hollis did amazing with her first book and I want to thank both Wren and the Butterfly PA for lending me this ARC!❤️

Unraveled Lies is the 1st book in the Unraveled Series by Wren Hollis.

Well, I wasn’t prepared for this book and the way it just grabbed me, dragged me into its depths, and enthralled me. I wasn’t ready for this one, and the journey that it took me on.

From the very beginning of this book, I was pulled into this book and no matter how hard I tried to pull myself out of it, this book refused to let me go and just pulled me in deeper and deeper.

Donovan is the kind of man you could ever want in an MMC. He’s loyal, flawed, heartbreakingly easy on the eyes and the heart and you could easily fall for him without realizing it.

Stella on the other hand is an incredibly strong FMC, she’s fiery, and she feels so real and authentic that you feel every little bit of the pain, joy, and sorrow that she feels and you feel like you’re walking her struggles right along with her. And that includes the good, the bad, and the horrible.

Wren perfectly wrote each and every twist and turn and they all had me gasping and left me breathless more than once. And you could feel the tension and emotional buildup between Donovan and Stella and it was all perfect and was masterfully written. This is one of those books that is going to make you want to reread it after you’ve finished it, wanting to find those nuggets that you missed when you first read it.

I really don’t want to give anything away but I can say that there are “what if” scenarios playing out in my head even now. I honestly ran the full emotional bombardment with this book – happiness, sadness, shock, frustration, pity and despair.

More than once, I had my husband come into the bedroom asking me what I saying and asking who I was talking to. I had to explain to him that I was talking to my book, this had him walking away laughing at me. I called at back to him that this is how you know that a story has truly enthralled you.

I commend Wren for her incredible job in bringing all these characters to life and bringing their emotions to life and making you feel every one of them. You feel the heart and soul in all the pages; Wren’s writing makes it all painless to get lost in the world she’s created. I’m now craving her next book, and book 2 to this series can’t come soon enough.

I can honestly say that I really did enjoy this book. The emotion it’s an emotional roller coaster ride, full of twists and turn and it keeps you enthralled until the very last word. And you just have to wait till the end; you’re not going to believe it.

And I will end by saying this, I am on team Donovan. At least for now. We will see what happens in book 2.

Wow… I was not prepared for how much I’d love Unraveled Lies or the emotional journey it would take me on! It’s not my usual read choice but I was drawn to it.
From the very first chapter, the story pulled me in and refused to let go. I completely fell for Donovan—he’s everything you could want in a main male character. Loyal, flawed, and heartbreakingly easy to fall for. And Stella? She’s just as incredible. Strong, fiery, and so real that you feel every bit of her pain, joy, and struggle—the good, the bad, and everything in between.

The twists and turns had me gasping more than once, and the emotional buildup between Donovan and Stella was pure chef’s kiss. It’s one of those books that stays with you long after you’ve finished. I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say I was still replaying “what if” scenarios in my head long after I turned the last page! I ran the full emotional gauntlet with this one—happiness, sadness, shock, frustration, pity, and despair.

I actually found myself talking to the book (and maybe yelling at the characters a few times 😅). Laughing with them, pleading with them to make better choices, and occasionally questioning their sanity! But that’s how you know a story’s truly gripped you. Even when I didn’t agree with their decisions, I understood why they made them—and that made the journey all the more real.

Wren A. Hollis did an incredible job bringing these characters and their emotions to life. You can feel the heart and soul in every page, and her writing makes it effortless to get lost in the world she’s built. I honestly can’t wait to see what she does next—book two can’t come soon enough!

Also, I definitely wanted to give Wren a good talking-to at several points—“Control your characters!” or “How could you let them do that?!”—only to find myself completely forgiving her by the next chapter. That’s the mark of a talented author: someone who can make you feel so deeply.

P.S. – TEAM DONOVAN ❤️😉

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
There were several elements I really enjoyed - Donavan was a standout character for me, and I found myself wishing the story had spent even more time exploring his arc.

Overall, though, the book wasn't quite the right fit for my personal tastes. The pacing felt very fast throughout, which made it difficult for me to fully settle into the story or connect deeply with certain plot points. There were many interesting ideas, but the quick transitions sometimes left them feeling a bit rushed, and I often wished for more development - particularly in the rebuilding of Donavan and Stella's relationship, which mostly happens off-page.

I also struggled with the dialogue at times, as the characters' voices felt quite similar, and a few moments (especially during texting scenes) pulled me out of the narrative. The lack of scene breaks contributed to the overall sense of
speed, making some transitions feel abrupt.

There were a few instances of repetition in the prose, and the balance between explicit scenes and fade-to-black moments felt inconsistent - some scenes were very detailed, while others cut away suddenly, which disrupted the flow for me.

The frequent misunderstandings between the main characters were another element that didn't work for me personally, as their reactions sometimes felt impulsive and left me wanting more emotional depth.

While this story wasn't my cup of tea, I appreciate the creativity behind it and the opportunity to read it. I hope my thoughts are helpful to readers with similar preferences, and I'm grateful to the author for trusting me with their work.

Unraveled Lies by Wren A. Hollis

Some women fall to the fire. She decides who burns.
That line alone gave me chills — and it perfectly captures the strength and fire within this story.

From the moment Donovan reappeared, I could feel that familiar spark between them. Their connection wasn’t a slow burn, it was an instant explosion of emotions — passion, heartbreak, and everything in between. I was completely swept away by their love story, even as it unraveled piece by piece.

The layers of lies, secrets, and betrayal hit hard. Every new truth felt like a punch to the gut, but it made the story all the more real and powerful. It’s not just about heartbreak — it’s about survival, about standing back up when the world around you starts to crumble.

As a Belgian reader, I have to admit I smiled when Belgian waffles were mentioned (I don’t even know why, but it made me weirdly proud 😅).
And the name Carrington instantly gave me Dynasty vibes — which fit perfectly with the glamorous yet dark world of powerful families and buried secrets.

Also, that line — “I started a book on anti-gravity. It’s impossible to put down.” 🤣 I laughed way too hard at that one. I adore this kind of dry humor; it’s the kind of moment that stays with you long after finishing the book.

Some of the character choices made me raise an eyebrow, but that’s part of what made this story so intriguing — it constantly reminded me that appearances can be deceiving.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It’s emotional, full of twists, and keeps you hooked until the very last page.

Unraveled Lies...where to start?

It was not what I was expecting for sure. I was expecting a lot more of the revenge side, but what I got was basically the life story of our two main characters and I'm not mad about it.

We watch two teenagers break up for a totally believable and stupid teenage reason. They come back together a couple years later and actually own up to the stupidity of their break up. Things seem great until their not. I really enjoyed the first 70% of this book, the last 30% just felt like nothing was happening but also everything was happening? If the break up would have happened sooner then I feel like the author could have given more detail of the revenge aspect.

A few things I didn't like was the FMC's family backstory. It seemed like an after thought, to make it easier for the FMC to carry out her revenge. The other was the "sudden" relationship after such a life altering divorce.

Overall a great read.

I had the honor of receiving Unraveled Lies in trade for an honest review.

To start off I love how this seemed like it was going to be this sweet love story with some second chances. Old flames from high-school rekindled later in adulthood seemed like it was going to be an easy going story which is usually not my type but I'm expanding my horizons lately. Stella is probably in the top 10 of my favorite FMCs now and it's well deserved, she's a confident bad a** who doesn't take anyone's s**t and I love it. I was honestly iffy about Donovan right from the start and man my instincts were right about him, lying, cheating scum bag got what he deserved in the end and the plot twist of Stella and the mistress Elaine? I definitely didn't see coming or expect it but dang it was so good and just a hint of their revenge. I loved it and I definitely recommend giving this one a read for sure.

Thank you to Butterfly PA Services and Wren Hollis for allowing me to read this book in advance in exchange for an honest review.

This book was such an emotional roller coaster from the moment I started it until the end. Wren does such a fantastic job at bringing Stella and Donovan to life. Stella’s character development as a strong and independent FMC is the reason why I love this book. Donovan despite everything is top tier book boyfriend. Just wait until the ending.

This one got me. I really thought I knew what was going to happen but boy was I wrong. Stella and Donovan were what you would describe as high school sweethearts, until they weren’t. Now 2 years later their world collide and the flame reignites, but was it actually ever really gone. Donovan has all the qualities that you look for a romance mmc you want to cheer for him to win the girl. Stella is hesitant but the fire burns hot inside to be with him. They take that leap and all is well in the Stella/Donovan universe. They get married, she gets pregnant but then the other shoe drops and Stella’s world is turned upside down. She could easily walk away and be done with the situation but that’s not enough. He did her wrong and she needs to burn his world down. She knows she can’t do it alone and this is where a major twist comes in to play. I need to know what happens next so you better believe i’m waiting for the next book.

Real Rating :: 3.5 stars out of 5 stars

When I first started reading, I wasn't sure where the story was going, but the more I read I was enjoying it. I usually have a hard time reading second chance romances, but I gave this one a chance because I was curious about something the author posted on her page and I will say it was worth it. If you love a good second chance romance, this book is definitely for you.

I’m still trying to process the events that take place in this book! 😅 it has the perfect amount of spice, while ALSO having a plot, which I’ve noticed many books lack these days. Between the love, heartbreak, and secrets, this book will leave you begging for more (like myself😭) Wren did the dang thing with this book!
