Jeff Abbott (born 1963) is a U.S. suspense novelist. He has a degree in History and English from Rice University. He lives in Austin, Texas. His early novels were traditional detective fiction but in recent years he has turned to writing thriller fiction. A theme of his work is the idea of ordinary people caught up in extraordinary danger and fighting to return to their normal lives. His novels are published in several countries and have also been bestsellers in the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, and France.

HOT DAMN this cat knows how to write a thriller!! The crazy zig-zagy plot jumps off in the first few pages and never lets up 'til the lead-filled end. Don't bother with plausibility- just hold on tight and enjoy the ride!!

A relatively normal guy is mourning the murder of his wife when he encounters Pilgrim, a CIA agent. They find that they've been set up for a hit, and have to work together to smash the frame. Of course, the CIA agent is not what he seems.

Not bad, but nothing too memorable.

Neredeyse kitabın ortasına gelmiştim ve hala bir iki karakterin kim olduğunu anlayabilmiştim. Foi a minha estreia na escrita deste autor e gostei imenso deste livro. Muita ação, emoção e suspense acompanham-nos da 1ª à ultima pagina. Sentimos que passamos o livro todo a correr, a fugir, a tentar desenredar a trama e a querer saber rapidamente como vai termina. O final não seria o que eu mais desejaria mas no fundo este livro é como a vida, nem sempre acaba da forma que queremos. Recomendo para quem gosta de suspense e ação

My first book by Jeff Aboott, and another author to add to my list of great thriller writers.

Multi layered, many twists and turns, as the story mainly follows two strong characters, plenty of action and suspence.

Very well written, with so many plots all joining as the book comes to an exciting climax.

His book Panic is highly regarded and was a top international seller, so must llok for that.

Next book my old favourite Chris Ryan.

Well written and very fast-paced this story has not a whit of believability about it. Just too far fetched to be taken seriously. Recommended only for those who like action without having to think about it.

'The Collision' by Jeff Abbott was a random book selection for me. I'd not heard of the author but the story concept looked when I read the jacket. And it was really well written. I had trouble in the beginning following the different storyline beginnings. I think this stems more from my personal inability to remember names than it does the writing itself. Once the different story lines merged into the meat of the subject matter the story took off for me. (Though I still struggled with a few too many names.)

This was a great book that I would recommend to other friends who enjoy the genre or a similar style. The main drawback, for me, was it was almost written to close to 'formula'. Good guy in trouble for something he didn't do, bad guy in trouble well because he's bad guy. Supposed other good guy is really a bad guy that is made too obvious before it's actually revealed. Throw in a few more good and bad to beef of the story line. Good guy wins. Don't get me wrong the formula works, and works well most of the time. And did again this time around as well.

An absolute thriller..

Now this book is exactly what I am looking for when I want to read a "thriller". Abbott has come up with a rather improbable series of events and linked them together into a compelling story and set of characters. Plenty of action from start to finish, unlikely characters forced to work together, plot surprises, double-double crosses and more, all brought together in an effective whole story. Giving even a basic plot summary risks giving away too much as spoilers, so I'll stop by saying that I will certainly try other Abbott books in the future (at least after I have caught my breath from this one.)

I normally read biographies and chick lit so I went out of my comfort zone reading something like this for a reading challenge I'm doing. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the book but I was pleasantly surprised. I couldn't put this book down. The storyline involves multiple people and you can't fully tell who the good guys really are and who the bad guys are. You have to keep reading to figure out what really happened and even when you start to think you know what's going on a twist gets thrown in at the end. I would recommend this book to everyone.

This book is like a bag of chips: easy to completely burn through in one sitting, but doesn't have any substance. I had a lot of fun with this book, and is the only book I've actually read within the return window for the library, which is a good sign for a thriller, but walking away from the book, there were very few things I actually remembered from it. Nothing actually stuck with me, maybe except for the ending, and that's it.
It's a good book to read over a weekend if you have literally nothing else to read.

This Abbott book was not as good as the first one I read, Blame. This one was about espionage and the first half it was difficult to know who was whom and who was with whom and who was good and who was bad. Actually, only 2 people did good, the rest did good unless they were paid enough. About half way through it became clear who to root for. It was a good story with a twist at the end if you don't mind being in the dark for the first 1/2 of the book.

Achei um livro interessante no que se refere à noção de ação que a escrita transporta...
Tem passagens que são exatamente como ver um filme de ação... a adrenalina está lá, até num simples chiar de pneus numa esquina apertada..
..mas no que diz respeito ao enredo considerei o início um pouco confuso, o meio demasiado arrastado e um desfecho um tanto improvável.
Ainda assim é um livro recomendável a quem aprecia um estilo literário repleto de ação e espionagem.

This should have been a four star book. I even told my friend how she had to read this book. It was compelling and entertaining for the most part. A story of men and women and the things they do in the name of National Security. I believed most of it but the ending was all wrong hence the three stars.

This was a random library pick-up and it was an excellent choice!

I won't go into the plot because it has to many great twists and turns to summarize. What it also has is plenty of action and suspense. Warning, the beginning has a lot of moving parts and I got some of the characters mixed up.

In summary, a well written thriller that will keep you turning the pages!

This was an okay book, but not my cup of tea. I did not enjoy the slow start and felt the action and conclusion were basic and predictable. The characters weren’t compelling and I struggled to get through this.
