***Global Book Awards Bronze Medal Winner***

Carly Brooks died of humiliation—and Georgia Blake Brooks rose from the ashes with a new name, new boots, and a forty-something-item cowgirl glow-up list.

All I want is a fresh start, a little peace and quiet, and maybe to win over my aunt’s psychotic chicken, Henrietta.

What I get? A horse named Biscuit who steals my heart, a town full of nosy neighbors, and not one—but two—cowboys who complicate everything.

Catching a cowboy might be easier than I thought. Figuring out which one’s worth keeping? That’s where it gets messy. Especially when secrets don’t stay buried for long in small towns—and mine has the power to ruin the only home I’ve ever wanted.

But this time, I’m not running. Not from the gossip, not from my past, and definitely not from the cowboy who might just be worth staying for.

Grab this sharp, laugh-out-loud funny, and deeply heartfelt small-town romance about reinvention, second chances, and finding love when it’s least expected.

Carly Brooks died of humiliation—and Georgia Blake Brooks rose from the ashes..." This captivating opening line sets the stage for a delightful journey of reinvention, romance, and small-town charm. The author masterfully crafts a story about second chances as Georgia embarks on a "cowgirl glow-up" after leaving her past behind.

The narrative is engaging, filled with humor and heart. Georgia's quest for a fresh start is complicated by a quirky cast of characters, including a scene-stealing horse named Biscuit, nosy neighbors, and two intriguing cowboys. The author skillfully balances the protagonist's personal growth with the blossoming romantic entanglements, creating a story that is both heartwarming and entertaining.

The small-town setting adds depth to the narrative, with secrets and gossip lurking around every corner. As Georgia confronts her past, she discovers the true meaning of home and the courage to fight for what she wants.

With tropes like "Makeover Mayhem" and "Grumpy x Sunshine," this book offers a familiar yet fresh take on the romance genre. The "sweet with a little heat" spice level makes it a perfect choice for readers who enjoy heartwarming stories with a touch of passion. Fans of Debbie Macomber, Emily Henry, and RaeAnne Thayne will find themselves captivated by this charming tale of reinvention and finding love when it's least expected.

Overall, this book is a delightful read that will leave you laughing, crying, and rooting for Georgia as she navigates her new life and finds love in the most unexpected of places. A definite must-read for those seeking a heartwarming and humorous small-town romance.

Confession of a Wanna-Be Cowgirl by Sylvia Grant completely surprised me in the best way possible. I went in expecting a light, funny small-town romance, and I came out feeling like I’d just watched someone rebuild their entire life, one brave decision at a time.
Carly Brooks didn’t just change her name to Georgia Blake Brooks for fun she needed that reinvention. From the very first pages, you can feel the weight of her past humiliation and how deeply it shaped her need to disappear and start over. Georgia’s “cowgirl glow-up list” made me smile, but it also felt painfully real. Who hasn’t made a list after a breaking point, hoping structure might fix what hurt inside?
The small town setting is pure charm and chaos. The nosy neighbors, the gossip, the slow burn community warmth it all felt so alive. And honestly? Henrietta the psychotic chicken deserves her own fan club. I laughed out loud more than once, but the humor never took away from the emotional core of the story.
Then there’s Biscuit the horse, who quietly steals both Georgia’s heart and the reader’s. Biscuit isn’t just an animal side character; he represents healing, trust, and the unexpected connections that make a place feel like home.
The romance is where things get deliciously messy. The grumpy-sunshine dynamic is done so well, and the tension between the two cowboys kept me guessing. I appreciated that this wasn’t an instant-fix love story. Georgia’s hidden identity adds real stakes, and the fear of being exposed felt genuine and heavy not dramatic for drama’s sake, but rooted in real emotional consequences.
What truly stood out to me was Georgia’s growth. She doesn’t just “find love”; she finds her voice. Watching her decide finally not to run from gossip, from her past, or from herself was incredibly satisfying. The found family aspect wrapped everything together beautifully, making the town feel less like a backdrop and more like a living, breathing part of her journey.
This book is funny, warm, heartfelt, and quietly empowering. It’s about second chances, choosing yourself, and discovering that home isn’t about perfection it’s about belonging. The romance is sweet with just enough heat, and the emotional payoff is absolutely worth it.
No wonder this book earned a Global Book Awards Bronze Medal. If you love small town shenanigans, grumpy meets-sunshine romance, and stories about starting over when life knocks you flat, Confession of a Wanna Be Cowgirl is a must read. Sylvia Grant has written a story that lingers long after the last page and I already miss Georgia, Biscuit, and that wonderfully chaotic town.

I finished reading this book a few days ago, and it was good. It was a nice romance, with very little spice, it was a nice change of pace, and it was good.

In this book, Carly Brooks is an event planner who was injured at one of her events by a champagne bottle, gets a huge settlement, and relocates from Toronto to Calgary, and changes her name to Georgia Blake Brooks. She starts just helping her aunt Sheila, and then she starts volunteering at a local horse rescue. And while there, she starts falling for the vet there. And then she gets injured again, breaking her arm after being kicked by a horse.

And, it's a happily ever after for the main characters, and it was a good book.

If you like romance books, you'll love this book.
