Snowbound at Christmas: A Wind River Mail-Order Brides Christmas Anthology

Rate this book
One Christmas snowstorm creates havoc for three couples who find themselves snowed in together—and a chance for new love to bloom and old feelings to be rekindled. Curl up on a winter's afternoon with this anthology of three heartwarming love stories set in the Wind River story world.

Heart's Secret Haven
Livery owner Lilly Murdock would prefer to skip over Christmas entirely. She's given up on finding love. What kind of man wants a wife who spends her days tending to the stable and who smells like a horse? When a snowstorm traps her with her childhood friend, old dreams come back to life. Rancher Jakob Anderson can't think of a worse punishment than being stuck inside the barn for days with the woman he once loved and never forgot. As he spends more time with Lilly, he realizes the feelings he thought he'd gotten over are just as strong as ever...
Her Gingerbread Refuge
Widowed bakery owner Caroline Wilson has one to give her children a perfect Christmas. When a stranger and his young sister blow into her small-town bakery in the middle of a blizzard, she finds all her careful plans upended... and finds herself drawn to the driven businessman. Jerome Barnett doesn't know what to do with a younger sister—one he didn't even know existed until a letter arrived. It's Caroline that helps them connect, and Caroline that begins to melt his guarded heart.
Her Yuletide Protector
Heiress Lizzie Hamilton is on a desperate quest to escape an arranged marriage and finds herself trapped on a snowed-in train and mistaken for a common thief. She can't trust anyone, not even the deputy with shadowed eyes and a vulnerability beneath his hard exterior. Deputy Slate Jackson sees everything in black and white. But Lizzie is a conundrum. Kind to small children, afraid of every noise, a sadness she can't seem to shake. Is she really a thief or is she hiding a different kind of secret? When the snow begins to melt and the danger chasing Lizzie draws close, Slate must decide whether he can trust Lizzie... and his own heart.

★·.·´¯`·.·★ Snowbound at Christmas ★·.·´¯`·.·★ is a Christmas anthology for the Wind River Mail-Order Brides series. Each five-star novella features the Wind River setting and a couple in need of second chances.

🎄𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭’𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢

Lilly Murdock and Jakob Anderson have both been hurt by someone they loved, rendering them cautious about sharing their feelings or caring too deeply. When a snowstorm brings these two former school friends and neighbours together, everything changes.

I appreciated the struggle to feel in control, the feeling of unworthiness, and the reminder that we need to invite God in so that He’s not so far away.

Galinetti has penned a beautiful story focused on unrequited love and the need for grace. I thoroughly enjoyed this friends-to-lovers story.

🎄 𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐠𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐊𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐢𝐧

“𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒖𝒔. 𝑾𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏.”

Jerome Barnett finds himself stranded in a snowstorm with livery owner and widow Caroline Wilson. They both discover the true meaning of Christmas.

I enjoyed the opportunity to examine what defines my existence, what daily ‘survival’ looks like for me and how extending myself and giving to others can be enriching for us both. I most appreciated the advice given to Caroline that it’s o.k. to want something for myself.

Klopfenstein has crafted a fantastic second-chances story focusing on the ready-made family and the grumpy/sunshine trope.

🎄 𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐘𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐥

“𝑰𝒕 𝒖𝒔𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒖𝒑 𝒕𝒐 𝒂 𝒃𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒚.”

Lizzie Hamilton and Deputy Slate Jackson don’t meet under the most ideal circumstances, but what they learn from each other allows them the freedom to be themselves.

Summeril has written a wonderful story about a heroine (with a hidden identity) on the run and in desperate need of someone to stand up for her.

I liked the reminder that appearances can be deceiving and to leave judgment aside.

I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Snow has a way of quieting the world … slowing us down long enough to notice what matters most. In Snowbound at Christmas, that stillness becomes the backdrop for three stories where love is rekindled, faith is lived out, and hope shines steady, even when the storm rages.

In Heart’s Secret Haven, Lilly and Jakob’s story touched me with its honesty. Lilly believed her worth was too small, her life too ordinary, but grace whispered otherwise. Their time snowed in at the livery became a reminder that we are never beyond the reach of God’s mercy, and that sometimes He rekindles dreams we thought were long gone.

Her Gingerbread Refuge felt like stepping into warmth itself. Caroline’s weary courage and Jerome’s unexpected tenderness, alongside six little ones full of need and laughter, showed me what love looks like when it bakes bread, hangs greenery, and chooses joy even when life feels fragile. I loved the gentle truth spoken here: “It’s hard when life forces change on us. We need our dreams more than ever then.” Those words felt like a gift.

And Her Yuletide Protector carried the ache of fear and the healing of trust. Lizzie’s longing to be valued and Slate’s slow recognition of her worth left me with tears in my eyes, especially in the moment he said: “If true, how could you not be valuable?” That line settled deep in me, like truth I needed to hear again.

This collection left me so grateful for stories that echo my own faith walk, for characters who live their faith instead of just speaking it, and for the reminder that even in life’s fiercest blizzards, God is the One who shelters, redeems, and loves us beyond measure.

A beautifully Christ-honoring treasure for readers who want high-quality Christian historical romance where faith is clear, love is tender, and hope lingers like candlelight on a winter’s night!

I received a digital ARC from the publisher. I am not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. This is my honest and unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the great writing, engaging narration, and the story’s wonderful content, ensuring transparency and reliability.

This collection of three historical romance novellas delivers cozy Christmas vibes. All three stories are connected to the Wind River story setting but with side characters making it easy to pick this collection up to enjoy even if you haven’t read any of the other books in the main series. I appreciated the variety that these stories presented.

In the first novella, I could feel the longing that Jakob had for his long time friend, Lilly, and his heartbreak when it seemed as if she wouldn’t realize that she cared for him, too. The children in the second novella helped to create a festive, family setting for Caroline and Jerome. This story clearly showed that families could be created in many different ways. And in the third story, Lizzie was a desperate woman seeking escape when Slate arrested her. He was a man who did not trust people because his trust had been broken many times in the past. Yet, Lizzie might just be the woman who could change his mind.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Three sweet Christmastime short stories in one book. Each has a unique snowbound situation. The first is a second chance romance between Jakob and Lilly as they spend a snowed in night in a barn and rekindle their friendship. There are horses, disasters and good chemistry. The second story involves a chance meeting on a snowy night. Jerome and Caroline develop a tender connection over their mutual need for love, family and Christmas joy. In the last story, Lizzie is in a desperate situation and Slade, first a persecutor then a protector, helps her find her way to a new chance at life.

I enjoyed reading all three well written stories and recommend to those who seek clean, inspiring romance. I was given a digital copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.

I have loved this series from the very beginning, and I am not ready for it to be over. This anthology was the perfect addition to the collection. Each story is a snowed-in, cozy, and heartfelt Christian romance that blends faith, love, and hope in the sweetest way.

Heart’s Secret Haven ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jakob has always loved Lilly but believed her father’s lie that he wasn’t good enough for her. When they are snowed in together, long-buried feelings finally rise to the surface. Lilly begins to see him as more than a friend, and Jakob learns he has always been worthy of her love. A tender and uplifting friends-to-lovers romance.

Her Gingerbread Rescue ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Caroline is a widowed baker raising five children when Jerome and his sister Rose are stranded in town during a storm. What begins as temporary shelter quickly becomes something more, as cozy moments in the bakery open the door to love and the hope of a blended family. Warm, faith-filled, and charming from start to finish.

Her Yuletide Protector ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Lizzie is running from an abusive fiancé and hiding her true identity when she crosses paths with Slate, a lawman who sees her only as a thief. An avalanche forces them to stay close, and slowly, the walls around their hearts begin to melt. The mix of danger, faith, and romance made this one impossible to put down, even if I wished it had lasted a little longer.

I received a complimentary copy. This review reflects my honest opinion.

This is a sweet collection of Christmastime novellas! Now I’m the kind of reader who always finds a novella a bit too short, a bit too rushed, and a bit lacking in info. But overall these do a great job of avoiding those pitfalls. A little forced proximity and the help of a blizzard help these three couples find their happily ever afters!

Heart’s Secret Haven
I think the first story was absolutely my favorite. Lilly has had the weight of the world on her shoulders for far too long, and she’s close to breaking even though she’s adamant she can do everything on her own. Jakob has loved Lilly a long time, but she’s never seen him as more than a friend. But when they get stranded together at her livery in the blizzard, Lilly starts to realize how much she appreciates Jakob’s steady presence in her life, and how he values and understands her is just *swoon.* Such a cute epilogue too.

Her Gingerbread Refuge
This story had a bit of the chaos of a family full of kids- which is exactly why it works because that’s what it’s about! Caroline is a widow with two small children and her sister’s orphaned children- and what’s one more when Jerome and his much younger sister get stranded at the bakery with her during a blizzard? It’s part Christmas magic and part lessons learned that creating the perfect Christmas isn’t as important as being present.

Her Yuletide Protector
Lizzie and Slate meet on a train stranded by the blizzard. He’s been hurt by untrustworthy women, and that’s exactly what he pegs her for as he arrests her for stealing a coat. But as they open up to one another, her words find their way inside Slate’s hardening heart to save him from himself. I got pretty mad at him at one point- but he comes through in the end!

Novellas are great for a busy Christmas season, so you’ll want to grab these to enjoy in your spare minutes! Such a nice continuation of the Wind River story world! I definitely enjoyed this novella collection and especially this series. These aren’t super connected, so if you haven’t read the others you can still grab these!

I received a complementary copy of this collection from Sunrise Publishing. I was not asked to leave a positive review. My opinions are my own.

This is a wonderful Christmas Anthology. Each story is a snowed-in sweet romance filled with faith, hope, and love.

❄️ Heart’s Secret Haven
Lilly is independent and determined. Jakob is caring and protective. He has long had feelings for Lilly. They face danger and their feelings while snowed in at the livery. A sweet friends-to-lovers story!
“I’ve only loved one woman in my life.” Jakob lifted a chin to point toward the livery. “She was my first friend in this new country. A fierce defender against the teasing and ridicule of the other kids because I was different, an outsider. We grew up and she was still my friend, but I thought…” He paused, then blurted, “I wanted more.”

🎄Her Gingerbread Refuge
Caroline is loving and sweet. She has a tender heart for kids and knows just what they need. I loved her desire to give the kids a memorable Christmas. Jerome is determined and willing to learn. I loved his desire to grow closer to Rose. Caroline and Jerome had a quick romance but it was tender and sweet. I adored every moment at the bakery with Caroline, Jerome, and the six children.
“The children don’t need a perfect Christmas. You’re giving them what they need. Not only by meeting their physical needs but how you love them.”

🚂 Her Yuletide Protector
Lizzie is brave but scared. I loved her gentleness with the children on the train and her sharing her love of music was a delight. Slate is caring and dutiful but distrustful. I loved his tenderness to the children and his vulnerability and care of Lizzie even when he didn’t fully trust her. I loved their connection and the train platform scene. 🫠
“I guess the money was more valuable than me.” Slate considered her for a moment, then said, “I don’t know. I was raised to believe that God not only created us but died for us. If true, how could you not be valuable?” Lizzie studied his face. He seemed sincere, and it stirred something warm and deep within. “You deserve someone who’ll fight for you, Lizzie.” His words soaked into the cracks of her heart. If only she could believe it.

4.5 rounded up to five

This is the first book I have read in the Wind River Mail-Order Brides series and the first book I have read from any of these authors, but I am going to have to fix that. This Christmas anthology is such a fun read. With a variety of differing story lines, it was the perfect weekend read.

Heart's Secret Haven:
This was such a fun story. Lily is trying to keep things going after the death of her father and her fiancé breaking off their engagement. Leaving her in a state of disarray. Just trying to keep the livery going. When her longtime friend Jakob gets snowed in at her house, secrets are uncovered. With fixed proximity and second-chance romance at Christmas time, it’s the perfect blend for a great novella.

Her Gingerbread Refuge:
Caroline has such a heartbreaking story, a widow, and also the loss of her sister, and she finds herself with five children to take care of. Watching Caroline’s heart for others was so touching. I loved watching her interact with the kids, and when the storm blows in with Jerome and his sister Rose, through her doors, she is quick to welcome them. Offering everything she has to them. This second chance at love and ready-made family is the perfect novella.

Her Yuletide Protector:
Lizzie is on the run from an arranged marriage when she finds herself in a little bit of trouble. When a thief runs off with her jacket and money, she finds herself also stealing out of necessity- a coat to keep warm in the winter. Running from the storekeeper, she finds herself face-to-face with the deputy on the train. Taken into custody for the duration of the train trip, until winter has other plans. Learning to trust each other during this time, though things go sideways when her past catches up, but things aren’t always as they seem.

This anthology of three Christmas novellas is a pleasing, uplifting addition to the wonderful Wind River Mail-Order Brides series. They are equally captivating and entertaining. What a delight to return to the small town of Calvin, Wyoming, and experience the romantic adventures of livery owner Lilly and childhood friend Jakob, widowed bakery owner Caroline and stranded New York businessman Jerome, and lawman Slate and runaway heiress Lizzy. These well-crafted, relatable characters drew me into their stories and kept me totally invested in the outcomes as a snowstorm at Christmas time led to close proximity and budding romance. I appreciate the inspiring life lessons on self-worth, how God works in our lives, and the importance of not judging others. I thoroughly enjoyed this well-written holiday collection and highly recommend it.
I read an early copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Heart’s Secret Haven: Lilly Murdock lives on her own in the town of Calvin. She lives in the same home she had when he father was alive. Lilly runs a stable for horses for a living and does a better job taking care of the horses than taking care of herself. Jakob Anderson is a friend Lilly has known since grade school. Unbeknownst to her, Jakob has had a crush on Lilly since childhood. When Jakob stops by to check on Lilly a snowstorm starts, and he is unable to leave. Then, part of the roof to her house caves in. She has to move herself and belongings to the stable. Jakob is forced to stay as well and they both become very aware of each other.

Her Gingerbread Refuge: Widow Caroline Wilson lives in Flora, Wyoming where she owns and runs a bakery to support herself, her 2 year old daughter and other young relatives who would have been orphaned but for Caroline. A couple of days before Christmas, Jerome Barnett and his young step-sister Rose, come into the bakery looking for a place to stay as the boarding house is full. Jerome lives in New York, a destination Rose has no interest in. Jerome and Rose end up staying a few days with Caroline, and are charmed by Caroline and her children. You’ll have to read the story to find out the ending.

Her Yuletide Protection: Lizzie Hamilton is on the run from a fiancee and her father who think they can direct her life. She takes a train west to Wyoming, and in one of the stops her coat with her money in the pocket is stolen, so on her way out of the store she grabs another coat from the store window, meaning to send the money to the store owner when she can do so. The store owner sees her and enlists a deputy’s help to arrest her. Slate Jackson is a deputy on the train and stops Lizzie when she boards with the stolen coat. He stays by her side, and over time learns what a gentle woman she is and sees firsthand how her fiancee and father are attempting to control her life.

I enjoyed all 3 stories . . . wonderful Christmas-time romances I think you'll enjoy also.

Book 1 by Wendy Galenetti

Hearts Secret Haven

Lilly owns a livery. Her father passed away almost a year ago and her fiance dumped her when she wouldn't give up the livery. It's 2 days before Christmas and a big snow storm has started. Jakob, someone Lilly grew up with, stops by the livery to see if he can rent stalls for his horses and space for his wagon since the storm is keeping him from returning home. Lilly tells him he can stay in the stable with the horses. Jakob has always loved Lilly but has never been able to tell her. Will this forced time together change their situation? Read this cute story and find out. It also has a sweet epilogue.

Book 2 by Wendy Klopfenstein

Her Gingerbread Refuge

Caroline is a widow raising 5 children, 2 of her own and 3 of her late sister's children. She owns a bakery in Calvin, Wyoming. She's looking forward to giving the children a wonderful Christmas. Jerome has come West to rescue his half-sister, that he just learned he has, from three orphan train. He and Rose are on their way back to his home in New York when they are stranded by a snowstorm in Calvin. They end up at Caroline's bakery. Jerome learns to be a big brother and father figure to Rose with help from Caroline and Caroline's kids enjoy spending time with Rose and Jerome. This is such a sweet, warm romance with a HEA ending. I loved it.

Book 3 by Traci Summeril

Her Yuletide Protector

Lizzie Hamilton is running from an arranged marriage. She's headed west to the ranch where her friend lives. Due to her coat being stolen with all her money with it, she steals a coat from a mercantile and gets back on the train but she's caught just after the train takes off by Calvin, Wyoming Deputy Slate Jackson who plans to take her back as soon as they get to the next town. The train they are on is stopped by an avalanche. While they have to wait for the tracks to be cleared, Lizzie and Slate get to know each other. Slate starts to realize that maybe Lizzie isn't the criminal that he thinks she is and just someone desperate to escape something. This was a great story. I loved the HEA ending and wish it had an epilogue.

I highly recommend this whole book.

Snowbound at Christmas is the sixth book in the Wind River Mail-Order Bride series. This is a compilation of stories written by three different authors. The stories are nice short stories that bring couples together during the Christmas season. The stories are about strong women who are determined to take care of themselves. I enjoyed reading all three of the stories. They are well written and easy to read and imagine. The stories are a reminder that God brings people together at the right time in their lives.

Heart’s Secret Haven by Wendy Galinetti is a nice story of childhood friends who are forced to spend time together during a blizzard. Lilly’s father has past away and she is now running the stable. Jakob has come to town for last minute Christmas items when a blizzard hits. With no rooms available in town, he seeks shelter at the stable. When tragedy strikes Lilly’s living area, he is quick to step in to help her. I enjoyed how strong and determined Lizzy is with how she has kept the stable running and how patient Jakob is with her.

Her Gingerbread Refuge by Wendy Kloppenstein is an inspirational story of bakery owner Caroline, the children she cares for, business man Jerome and the young sister he just found out he has. I enjoyed how dedicated Caroline and Jerome are to the children in their care. Caroline is a very hard working widow who has taken in other children

Her Yuletide Protector by Traci Summeril follows Lizzie as she flees her father and the man he promises her to. When her coat is stolen she feels forced to take one from a store and is seen doing this by Deputy Slate Jackson. The train they are riding is stopped by the storm. Lizzie helps comfort people by playing music. When a man shows up claiming to be a federal agent sent to take Lizzie home, Slate continues to protect her.

This is a nice collection of short Christmas romances that I voluntarily received from the author, this is my honest review.

A great book that I recommend to those who love stories in the old west. The three stories are about people living in Calvin Wyoming or from Calvin. Each is a sweet story that is entertaining, with characters that you will love to read about. The first story is about a young woman who is a orphan and is now running the family business, a stable for horses. She is facing a blizzard, her last customer is a childhood friend who is stranded with her. They work together and in the process heal their fractured relationship as they face the challenges resulting from the big snowstorm. The second story involves a baker and her children and nieces and nephews who she is now caring for. As the snow storm is just beginning a little girl and her adult brother come into the bakery and become stranded there. The story tells us of the children and how they prepare for Christmas and work together doing it. The h teaches the H how to connect with his sister who he has never known who has become his ward. In the process he learns what a family is and how to work together. In the end he connects with the h and her family. In the third story the H is a deputy from Calvin returning home on the train after delivering a prisoner to a distant town. Just as the train is leaving the station a young woman races on to the train with a coat she needs, after her coat was stolen. Unfortunately her money was also stolen. She is chased by the shopkeeper and the H sees what is happening and confronts the h as she gets onto the train. He tells her he is taking her back to the town that they just left so she can pay for the coat. She tells her that she can’t go back and as they are traveling, then stranded by an avalanche her story comes out. All is not smooth going for the h, a run away, but in the end she gets her freedom and a HEA. I enjoyed reading this anthology and hope you read it and enjoy it as much as I did. Enjoy!

When a blizzard hits at Christmas it unexpectedly strands people together and forces them to get to know each other...

In Heart's Secret Haven two old friends end up spending Christmas together at the livery. Lilly has been running the livery since her father's death and it's all getting a bit much. Unexpectedly being trapped there with her old friend Jakob, who she hasn't spent time with in years, adds a tension she wasn't expecting. I really enjoyed this story, it flowed and pulled me along and left me feeling their brokenness and hop for love.

Her Gingerbread Refuge is a story of pressure to do your best in circumstances that are far from the best. Caroline has the pressure of trying to raise 5 children by herself and run a business. When Jerome and his younger sister end up spending Christmas with them things start feeling easier as they can support each other, but what will happen when Jerome has to leave? This story was easy to read and enjoy.

Her Yuletide Protector is about heiress Lizzie who is trying to escape an arranged marriage. Making one mistake in desperation shouldn't be a problem, should it? Unfortunately when Deputy Slate sees it he is honour bound to follow it up. Will being trapped together on a train stuck in a blizzard help them to get to know each other and trust each other when it counts? A good story that I wish had been longer!

This was a lovely anthology of books linked to the Wind River Mail Order brides series. It can be read separately from the rest of the series though and is a lovely weekend read. The books are all clean, sweet reads.

You will enjoy these three stories set out west during a Christmas snowstorm!
Heart's Secret Heaven by Wendy Galinetti: Lilly Murdock is comfortable taking care of the stable she inherited from her father but the attached living quarters are falling down around her. She was engaged once but the man changed his mind. Lilly's old schoolroom friend, Jakob Anderson, finds himself trapped in the stable with Lilly when the snowstorm suddenly hits. Lilly doesn't know that Jakob asked permission to court Lilly but her father refused. Maybe those old feelings can be brought back to life!
Her Gingerbread Refuge by Wendy Klopfenstein: Widow Caroline Wilson and her children live above her bakery shop. When the snowstorm hits and their train cannot go any further, Jerome Barnett and his young sister find themselves trapped in the baker with the Wilsons. You'll love how Caroline and her children work to make a good Christmas for everyone including Caroline and how Jerome learns what Christmas should be like.
Her Yuletide Protector by Traci Summeril: Heiress Lizzie Hamilton finds herself on a snowed-in train and accused of thievery. She is really trying to escape an arranged marriage and is afraid to trust anyone. Deputy Slate Jackson has been duped before and doesn't trust anyone either but he can't figure Lizzie out. Is she really a thief or is she hiding from danger? When the snow begins to melt and the danger chasing Lizzie draws close, Slate and Lizzie must decide who to trust.
I received a complimentary e-book of Snowbound at Christmas and recommend it to others. This is my honest opinion.

Snow, Christmas, and the western town of Calvin, Wyoming are the common themes in this enjoyable collection of novellas. The characters may be different, the circumstances varied, but all three share a powerful message of hope, faith, and love.

Heart's Secret Heaven by Wendy Galinetti: Lilly and her longtime classmate find themselves trapped in a stable during a snowstorm. Will Jakob's longtime love for Lilly finally come to light?

"The seed was planted on that first day at school. You offered me friendship and smoothed the path to this strange new life."

Her Gingerbread Refuge by Wendy Klopfenstein: During the snowstorm, Jerome and his younger sister are forced to seek lodging with a family in Calvin. Will he learn the true meaning of Christmas from the young widow who lives above the bakery with the five children she cares for?

"Wanting something for herself hadn't ruined Christmas. It'd added to all their lives on this glorious holiday of all holidays."
"And he knew. It truly was the best Christmas ever."

Her Yuletide Protector by Traci Summeril: Lizzie is accused of being a thief after she flees her abusive fiancé. Can she convince Deputy Jackson that she's innocent? Will they learn to trust each other as they try to escape the danger?

"Slate had made no secret that he didn't trust her. But fool that she was, she was starting to care about him."

This delightful anthology is filled with family, faith, and second chances. I recommend Snowbound at Christmas to all who enjoy historical Christian romance.

I enjoyed this anthology of historical Christmas stories containing romance, close proximity, and a snowstorm. Heart's Secret Haven was a sweet story involving friends to more and a secret crush. After her father passed away and her fiancé abandoned her, Lilly encounters some setbacks due to a snowstorm. She has to learn it's okay to accept help from her friends and neighbors and she doesn't need to be in control of everything. Her friend Jakob reappears in her life, and he has the chance to admit his true feelings for her. Can Lilly return her feelings for him and see him more than just a friend?
Her Gingerbread Refuge was a heartfelt story involving Caroline, a widowed bakery owner raising her kids and her nephew and nieces, and Jerome, a businessman who suddenly discovers he has a half sister he didn't know existed. This is a story of bonding, a ready made family, matchmaking kids, grumpy/sunshine, second chance at love, and learning that Christmas doesn't have to be perfect.
Her Yuletide Protector involves a heiress on the run, a heroine hiding her identity, and a lawman hero/protector hero. Through a set of circumstances, Lizzie is mistaken for a thief and trapped in a snowed-in train with Slate, a deputy, after escaping an arranged marriage. Slate has been jaded in the past and has a hard time trusting people. Can he trust Lizzie and help her sort out the situation she finds herself in after learning the truth, and can Lizzie start a new life?
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this anthology. Each story has a bit of redemption and love involved. Lilly and Jakob, childhood friends but now a bit estranged, until Jakob is stranded in Lilly's livery during a snowstorm around Christmas. Jakob wanted to court Lilly but was turned away by her Father. This is a second chance romance.
Caroline is a widowed bakery owner with 5 children in her care, two of her own and three of her sister's children. Jerome is a businessman from New York that recently discovered his little sister and has rescued her from the orphan train. They become stranded when Rosie, Jerome's sister, leaves the train platform because she is hungry and walks into Caroline's bakery. With the snowstorm they are now snowbound inside the bakery with Caroline and her brood. I loved how they helped each other see the potential in each other.
Lizzie is running away from her very powerful fiance who is abusive and mean. When circumstances become desperate she steals a coat, with every intention of wiring money back to the store, when she gets to her destination. But she is seen and caught by Deputy Slate Jackson. He has been duped by a pretty face a couple of times and isn't going to let another one fool him again. They are snowbound on a train where Lizzie proves she isn't really a criminal, just someone who is very frightened and trying to do her best with what she has. This is a redemption and learning to trust again story.

Heartwarming, Gospel-centered novellas with beautiful HEAs for a perfect afternoon read.

With a simple but well-developed plot, lovable characters, and a great message of worthiness in God’s eyes, in trusting Him, these three short stories will make you smile and want to celebrate Christmas.

1. Grieving from a recent loss, past heartaches, and trying to be an independent business owner, Lilly doesn’t want to rely on anyone, even God. But God never leaves His children without help or love. And sometimes it comes in the form of a great childhood friend who can weather a storm, even if it’s one made out of fears and attempt at control.

2. two strangers, stranded in the storm around Christmas, and a gaggle of kids make for a perfect short story where faith is renewed, second chances are explored, hearts mended, and lives become a bit brighter. Both Jerome and Caroline are gifted a chance to see that work is not everything and making things perfect for others while overlooking your own needs and heart’s desires doesn’t make it right

1. Snowed in and stuck on a train, an accidental thief running from her abusive fiancé and a deputy bent on not trusting again and repeating his past mistakes are for a surprise of Christmas miracle: when God melts hearts and points to His caring hand giving chances at love, reminding of how much He values His children. .

I had a privilege to read an advanced copy and absolutely loved it! All opinions expressed are my own.

This anthology delivers three heartwarming stories that not only transport the reader to different settings of being snowed in during a blizzard and all the cozy feelings that come with it, but also beautifully shares the reminders of the True reason for the season. So grab a hot drink and your favorite blanket, and hop on to snuggle in with some of the best Historical Romance stories set in your favorite town. 😉

Heart's Secret Haven by Wendy Galinetti: Jakob and Lilly's story was the sweetest! Friends since school, they've had a falling out thanks to circumstances outside of themselves, but a fateful blizzard and having to share refuge in the livery will have them figuring out not only what happened in the past, but also their feelings. Loved the reminders of hope, forgiveness, and finding our value in the One who was born in a lowly manger. ~ 5 stars

Her Gingerbread Refuge by Wendy Klopfenstein: Caroline and Jerome's story was so sweet! I loved the addition of all the children and how much fun they added to it with all their antics. Special or memorable moments were the mistletoe, singing carols, and frosting cookies. Of course, the story is woven beautifully with reminders of love through helping others, forgiveness (of others and oneself), finding your worth in Christ, and being open to second chances. ~ 4.5 stars

Her Yuletide Protector by Traci Summeril: Lizzie and Slate's story might have been my favorite! It grabbed me so fast, I was hooked to it and halfway through before I knew it! It's got suspense, a new setting (since this one happens outside of Calvin), a violin player, two wounded souls needing forgiveness who are dared to trust again, and the sweetest slow-burn romance between these two. The ending wraps up things and is satisfying, but at the same time, I could keep reading more about Lizzie and Slate. 🥰 ~ 5 stars!

Snowbound at Christmas brings together three cozy, heartwarming stories set in the beloved Wind River world—perfect for curling up with on a snowy afternoon.

Heart’s Secret Haven by Karin Galinetti
When a snowstorm traps childhood friends Lilly and Jakob together, old feelings resurface. Galinetti beautifully captures unrequited love, grace, and the reminder to invite God in when we feel unworthy. A tender friends-to-lovers story that warmed my heart.

Her Gingerbread Refuge by Linda Klopfenstein
A widow, a driven businessman, and an unexpected little sister find refuge—and maybe love—in a bakery during a blizzard. I loved how this story explored purpose, giving to others, and allowing ourselves to want something more. A fantastic second-chance, grumpy/sunshine tale with a ready-made family twist.

Her Yuletide Protector by Lacy Summeril
An heiress on the run, a snowed-in train, and a deputy with a guarded heart. I adored this story’s hidden-identity mystery and its message that appearances can be deceiving and judgment should be set aside.

What a beautiful Christmas anthology! It was such a joy to return to Wind River and spot familiar faces from the series. Each novella stands strong on its own while weaving together themes of grace, love, and hope in the midst of a snowstorm.

Cozy, faith-filled, and romantic—Snowbound at Christmas is a perfect addition to your holiday TBR!

I received an ARC from the publisher but was under no obligation to provide a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Snowbound at Christmas is another visit to Calvin, Wyoming where the riveting Wild River Mail-Ordered Brides Series took. Once again Lacy Williams, Wendy Galinetti, Wendy Klopfenstein and Traci Summeril transport the reader to this western historical town just in time for the blizzard that hits right before Christmas. All three are wonderful stories of little-known characters from the series.

Heart’s Secret Haven is an excellent story concerning childhood friends who have grown apart. This is my favorite of the series because livery owner Lilly Murdock seems so alone, but God is there sending just who she needed.

Her Gingerbread Refuge has two people who have huge responsibilities with younger family members. Instead of growing bitter and resentful they look to the Lord. The are perfect for each other.

Her Yuletide Protector has a woman on the run, a deputy trying to decide what exactly is going on with her and a stranded train. This story has danger from outside sources, so a deputy is the right one to have on hand. Once again God provides.

I can highly recommend all three stories in the Wind River Mail-Order Brides Christmas Anthology to all who enjoy historical Christan fiction.

I enjoyed each of these novellas. They get you in the mood for Christmas, no matter when you read them. I received a complimentary copy from the authors and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.

Heart’s Secret Haven

Both Jakob and Lily have to overcome the past to make room for love and the future. This Christmas they learn to reach out again and make that room. A tender story of a second chance at love after broken hearts.

Her Gingerbread Refuge

Here is a story to pull at your heart strings! Jerome and Rose have just begun to know each other while dealing with grief and Caroline and the children are seeking move forward and create a new life. They all need each other. This Christmas will be magical for all of them.

Her Yuletide Protector

Things aren’t always as they appear…Slate learns this lesson again when he stops Lizzie because of stealing. But the only thing she is guilty of stealing….his heart. They face down danger and learn to trust each other for the future neither one of them dreamed they could ever have.

Hearts Secret Haven

Jakob and Lilly are reunited during a snow storm and that's when the real storm starts to brew. I loved to see Lilly's strength and determination but at times it was a little too much. Jakob went out of his way to help her despite the less than warm greeting.

Her Gingerbread Refuge

Caroline and Jerome. Caroline is such a sweet and caring mom, not to mention her food sounds so good. The six children are so sweet despite the many losses they have been through. I loved how Caroline gave everything of herself to help make it the best Christmas for them.

Her Yuletide Protector

This story was a little different for me than the other two in the book. The relationship between Lizzie and Slate was strained throughout their time on the train. My heart broke for Lizzie as she tries to escape her ex-fiancee.

Thanks to Sunrise Publishing for the arc. The opinions are my own.

This is book #6 in the Wind River Mail Order Brides series but can be read as a standalone book.

Her Yuletide Protector tells the story of a lady who is on the run from her father and the man he wants her to marry. She gets storm stayed on a train during a blizzard that causes an avalanche and she has to deal with a deputy after something happens before getting on the train.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. The review here is my honest opinion.

An enjoyable anthology
Ms Williams and her team of relatively new authors have added three entertaining short stand-alone Christmas novellas to their Wind River Mail Order Brides series. The first two stories feature strong, independent women owning businesses in small-town Calvin, Wyoming and the caring men who recognise their value. “Her Yuletide Protector” by Ms Summeril differs in the sense that Lizzie, who has lived a life of wealth, discovers her courage when she flees from the future that has been planned for her. The setting for this entire story takes place on a train.
A quick to read, well-written book that keeps the reader sully engaged in each storyline. This was a review copy for which I have written an honest opinion.

A wonderful collection of Christmas novellas that encourage and inspire.
Three different scenarios with a common theme: Through Christ all things are possible.
These stories are very different, yet the message is the same, we are worthy, God sees us (even when we feel invisible to the world) and faith will carry us through.
I have read other books by these authors and continue to enjoy whatever they write.
If you are looking for Christian based books that are well written and authentic, I highly recommend reading any books by these authors or any other author that is presented by this publisher.
I received an advance review copy, courtesy of Sunrise Publishing and this is my honest, voluntary review.

This was a sweet collection of people finding love when they are snowbound together. Each one is by a different author, but the connection is the small town of Calvin WY. The first is a young woman who runs the local livery and the man who has loved her since they were children. The second is a widow raising 5 children and a man who has become the guardian for his sister. The last is a deputy and an heiress running from an abusive arranged marriage. In each case, forced proximity causes feelings to develop and grow as they get to know each other. Great stories of healing and love.

I received a copy of this as an ARC from the author, but the review is my honest thoughts.
