Turned By The Woodsman: Straight To Gay MM First Time

Rate this book
He’s huge. Absolutely massive. And I wonder if he’s just as big everywhere.

I have no business hiking solo into the mountains. I’m a city guy with no sense of direction and even less survival instinct. Naturally, I get lost deep in the wilderness.

That’s when I find him. Or he finds me.

A big, grumpy loner living off the grid. A rugged mountain man who isn’t keen on having company.

He could be dangerous. He could hurt me in a dozen ways. But I need his help.

And maybe he needs mine, too.

Without looking back, I follow the stranger into the woods.

I swear these are supposed to be satire. Literally no one asked, but I'm mainly reading them because they make me laugh... in case anyone was wondering. The cover is funny, the dirty talk is funny, the overall scenario is so wildly hilarious that there's no way Lucas Blaze wasn't chuckling the entire time he was writing.
Anyway, so the setup is that Silvan heads off into the woods on a whim, hoping to out-hike the knowledge that his ex-girlfriend has found a new man. He's sure to pack all the essentials. Water, bug spray... and lube. As anyone would. You never know who else will be out in the woods. Unfortunately for Silvan, the first pussy he encounters is a mountain lion, who is not in an amorous mood. It's his lucky day however, because solitary mountain man Boone has been following him for awhile, recognizing that he's completely and hopelessly lost. Boone scares away the mountain lion and takes Silvan to his cabin for the night. A cabin where there's only one bed!
“Most people know better than to come this far up the mountain. Not exactly a tourist destination.”
“Right. And what are you doing out here, if I may ask?”
He pauses, his spoon hovering in the air. There’s a long silence, and I wonder if maybe I shouldn’t have asked, but then he sighs and continues stirring. “Hiding.”
“Oh.” That’s… ominous.

Silvan is very straight, but he decides to enthusiastically moan out his appreciation for Boone's stew, and describes himself as a "twink" next to Boone's rugged, manly form (I'm hoping Boone doesn't look too much like the cover model, unless that's supposed to be satire also??)
I crawl under the thick wool blankets on the bed. They smell like cedar and musk, and the thought that Boone usually sleeps here, with all his naked, manly glory, is strangely comforting.

When Boone starts jerking off in his sleep, Silvan joins in, comes all over himself and then wraps himself back up in Boone's sheets for the night 😟. When Boone realizes Silvan needs to wash, he takes him to a nearby creek where he confesses that he can't look at Silvan naked or join him in the water because he's too horny. It turns out that Boone is living a solitary life in the middle of the forest because he's scared by his unnatural gay urges 🤭. By this point, Silvan is suddenly also wildly attracted to dick (was it the stew or the musky sheets that converted him?) and convinces Boone that they should fuck. Thank God he packed the lube.
Maybe the reason he lives out here alone, hiding from the world, is that no woman is able to handle him. That maybe he tried, again and again, but they couldn’t possibly take his meaty, throbbing cock. And so, the poor man had no choice but to retreat from society.

There's a lot of lube, and a lot of prep, and a lot of descriptions of Boone's giant throbbing cock and peach sized balls.
“Don’t wanna hurt you,” he mutters. “Ain’t used to this, Silvan. Don’t know how gentle I can be once I’m in. Don’t know if I’ll be able to hold back. I’m too worked up. Too fuckin’ desperate. Want you too bad. Might split you open.”
I crane my neck, find his ear, and nip at the lobe. “I don’t want gentle, Boone. Give me your desperation. Give me your hunger. Stuff that hole. Make me scream. Impale me on that—” The fat tip of his cock breaches my rim, cutting me off, and we both let out a guttural sound.

Silvan is hooked. The dick is so good he's going to be a mountain man now too.
We keep spraying and pumping, emptying every last drop from our balls. Even when there possibly can’t be anything left to give, we’re still shuddering, clinging to each other, holding on for dear life.

No one can convince me that this isn't a slightly more respectable version of Chuck Tingle. I enjoyed reading it, and the crazier and wackier it got, the more fun it was to read.

I stomped into this novella the way I stomp into my best friend’s kitchen when she says “you’re not going to believe what just happened” — dramatic, nosy, and already bracing for emotional nonsense.

Our main character?
A city guy who has absolutely no business being in the wilderness.
He’s the kind of person who gets lost in a shopping centre, let alone a mountain range.
He hikes solo like he’s trying to audition for a survival show he’s not qualified for.

Friend‑liner moment:
This man’s survival instinct is so low it’s basically on airplane mode.

Naturally, he gets lost.
Naturally, he panics.
Naturally, he stumbles into danger.
And naturally — because this is a novella with vibes — he meets the woodsman.

The woodsman is a grumpy loner living off the grid.
The kind of man who probably hasn’t spoken to another human in months and likes it that way.
He’s rugged, quiet, suspicious, and absolutely not thrilled about unexpected company.

Friend‑liner moment:
He gives off “I didn’t order this delivery” energy from the moment he appears.

The dynamic between them is:

city‑boy chaos vs wilderness competence

anxious babbling vs stoic silence

“I’m lost” vs “I live here, please calm down”

reluctant rescue vs accidental bonding

The novella leans into:

fish‑out‑of‑water humour

emotional tension

personal discovery

the clash between two very different lives

the slow shift from fear to trust

And yes — because this is Lucas Blaze — the story implies romantic and intimate themes.
But we’re keeping this review PG, so we’re focusing on the emotional beats, the character growth, and the chaotic energy of two people thrown together in the wilderness.

Friend‑liner moment:
It’s basically “man gets lost, meets grumpy hermit, accidentally starts a feelings‑arc he did NOT pack for.”

As a novella, it’s fast, dramatic, and leans heavily on vibes rather than deep plot.
It’s entertaining, chaotic, and perfect for readers who enjoy quick character‑driven stories with emotional tension and wilderness drama.

A 3 to 3.5‑star read — fun, messy, dramatic, and absolutely soaked in “I did not plan for this” energy.

'For the first time since we met, Boone cracks a smile, a flash of teeth behind the beard. His eyes crease at the corners, and a strange warmth spreads through my chest. I don’t know why, but something about him makes me want to see that smile again. Something about the way the stern lines of his face soften and those intense eyes sparkle, the flickering fire reflected in their golden depths.'

I loved this book. I've read so many mountain man romances, but almost never come across MM mountain man romance. And when I do, it doesn't quite have the same magic. I want matching energy- one guy out of his element and lost, on the run, or in danger and gets rescued by said mountain man. MF nearly always have the [mountain] man falling in love at first sight, hearing wedding bells before even a single word is spoken. Boone is gruff and not very talkative. He wasn't instantly making plans to have Silvan marry him and live in his cabin in the woods, but he was kind, followed Silvan when he saw he was lost, saved him from a mountain lion, and sheltered him for the night.

I loved the way their relationship developed, and getting a bit of insight into Boone's past and repressing his desire for other men. I loved that this was a bi-awakening for Silvan who never expected the attraction, but didn't shy away from it either.

'I turn to look at him. There’s awe on his face. Worship. As if I’m something sacred.
Something he needs to protect.'

This story was such a sweet, beautiful romance. 5 stars

First of all, ladies and gentlemen, please rise and give a massive round of applause to the absolute best Boy Scout in the world--Silvan!

Just when I was already crying with laughter over this plot playing out like a low-budget porn—the "wilderness" miraculously reachable by a parking lot, a mountain lion easily shooed away, a "mountain man" fleeing into the woods just to suppress his sexuality, and of course, there's only one bed—out pops a bottle of lube magically conjured from a backpack during a solo hike, completely giving me a whole new appreciation for the Scout motto: "Be Prepared."

That being said, the smut in this story is pretty mid compared to the author's top work, and the whole straight-to-gay transition happens faster than a bullet train. Honestly, it's just a PWP, so don't even bother with an epilogue about their future—literally no one cares.

Most importantly, a massive thank you to Elizabeth for the laughs! Definitely check out her brilliant review!

Possibly my favorite so far.

This was so good! It really reads like it's more than 64 pages. I was so engrossed. Boone's character was so well developed with his backstory of homophobia leading to his hiding in the depths of the wilderness to avoid urges from his attraction to other men. The way he reacted to Silvan moaning over the taste of his stew was realistic. It's not explicitly stated, but Boone definitely reads like a virgin who reacts to that moan and wants Silvan, but feels it's wrong to want that. I honestly love that change after so many of the tops in Lucas's books being cocky, confident and very familiar with sex with women and sometimes, possibly, men. Boone's not like that.

Silvan finds himself attracted to another man for the first time in his life and he has to make the moves to progress things between them. Boone is so hesitant and careful while also being hungry and caught up in the thrill of his first time. It was such a hot, sexy and sweet scene. Would absolutely read much more from this pairing.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked this steamy story of discovery for both Boone and Silvan where each of them finds what they are looking for.

Who wouldn't wanna get railed by a big burly mountain man after he saves you from a mountain lion because you got lost in the woods?!
