Normally, Fairhaven House is filled with whispers of ghosts and hauntings… now it’s filled with whispers of scandal.
Lady Jillian Hale and Mr. Miles Fairfax are both missing. Their absence is noticed during the Christmas scavenger hunt, and when they are finally found—hours later, locked together in one of the estate’s ancient towers, with or without some otherworldly assistance—the damage to her reputation is beyond repair… whether or not they actually deserve it.
Jillian has always thought Miles impossibly aloof, infuriatingly proud… and far too handsome for her own good. Unfortunately, his cousin is married to her sister, which means enduring his company is a regular holiday torment.
Miles knows exactly what Jillian is—a spoiled society beauty with a wicked tongue and a knack for getting under his skin. Being paired with her for the scavenger hunt was the last thing he wanted… until a wrong turn and a stubborn oak door changed everything.
The servants insist Fairhaven House is haunted by a mischievous matchmaking ghost—one who delights in trapping the unwilling together. Jillian scoffs at the idea… until the mistletoe seems to follow her from room to room, and the man she swore to dislike begins to look far too tempting.
A snowbound scandal, a reluctant attraction, and perhaps a little nudge from the other side—A Very Merry Mistake is a sparkling Regency holiday romp filled with wit, warmth, and irresistible romance.
USA Today Best Selling author and Winner of the 2019 Romance Through the Ages Award for Georgian/Regency Romance, Chasity Bowlin is the author multiple bestselling historical romance novels, both independently and with Dragonblade Publishing. She lives in central Kentucky with her husband and their menagerie of animals. She loves writing, loves traveling and enjoys incorporating tidbits of her actual vacations into her books. She is an avid Anglophile, loving all things British, but specifically all things Regency.
Growing up in Tennessee, spending as much time as possible with her doting grandparents, soap operas were a part of her daily existence, followed by back to back episodes of Scooby Doo. Her path to becoming a romance novelist was set when, rather than simply have her Barbie dolls cruise around in a pink convertible, they time traveled, hosted lavish dinner parties and one even had an evil twin locked in the attic.
This is my 54th book by Chasity Bowlin. I have been reading her books since mid-2017. I know she isn't normally super steamy but I've been reading her for so long and she is such a good writer, I don’t care and she gives just enough. I know I'll get a good read from her either way. She is on my list of favorite authors.
This is a light hearted Christmas romp with long term antagonists becoming lovers. The two main characters are great and their banter is entertaining. The only part that didn't fully work for me was the pair of villains as they seemed unnecessary and somewhat false in the way they continued to behave.
Jillian and Miles detested one another until they didn't. This is a story of enemies coming together as a united front and due to circumstances found themselves joined. Love and Christmas is a difficult set of forces to ignore. This is one of my favorite authors and never disappoints. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed this book all except for the maliciousness of some in society. I do dislike bullies! The characters leap off the pages and into your heart. This one made my ❤️ smile 😊. Great writing as usual by Chasity!
