Step into a realm where love burns bright, magic cuts deep, and shadows are never far behind.
I grew up believing I was Mage—just another girl, waiting for the gods to gift me power that never came. In Irongate, that belief kept me alive. In a realm where Fae, Mages and other beings are hated and magic is feared, being normal was safer than the truth.
But it was all a lie.
The day my magic finally awakened, everything changed. The life I knew crumbled beneath me, and I was thrust into a world of royal secrets, dangerous loyalties, and power I barely understood. The prince offered safety. His Fae guard offered challenge. I wasn’t sure I trusted either of them.
What I did know was that something ancient stirred inside me—something powerful—and angry. I didn’t know what I was, or why the magic felt like it had been waiting for me. But I could feel the weight of it, humming beneath my skin, begging to be unleashed.
And deep down, I knew the If I ever discovered who I truly was… the world would burn for it.

Ending up loving this so much! It started out SUPER slow for me, but by the middle I literally couldn’t put it down and was constantly thinking about what was going to happen next. The main character coming into her power, realizing everything she is and who she’s supposed to be was such an amazing progression. You get angst, fae, magic and dragons and I’m so here for it!
Be warned, there are some trigger warnings that are important to consider before starting the book and they are listed at the beginning. This book is also an explicit open door (🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️) so be aware of that going in.
I think that this story has a lot of potential, but I do think that the fast paced writing leaves something to be desired. I don’t feel like we lingered on anything long enough for it to sink in before we launch on to the next plot point. The friendships in the story as well as the romances lack substance because of the pacing, which makes these relationships shallow and a bit forgettable. . . . . . . . ⭐️💫⚡️SPOILERS AHEAD⚡️💫⭐️
Elara is a complex character who goes through hardship and depression and Greiser doesn’t shy away from speaking about heavy subjects like suicidal thoughts and grief. The trigger warnings are not a suggestion, there are graphic descriptions of torture and attempted assault of a side character.
While I think that the romance had its moments, I think that the intense fast paced writing took away from true bonding/attachment for the reader. At the beginning Elara talks about a friends with benefits situation with a man from her town, then moves very quickly to insta-lust (love??) with the prince, a random threesome, and then insta-love/lust with Zayn. Elara says she doesn’t throw around “I love you” but she says it a to several characters that she’s barely known a week.
Central Characters - Elara (main character) - Prince Fintan (love interest) - Zayn Silverthorn (Fintan’s guard, love interest)
Side Characters - Yara (ladies maid/maternal figure) - Eryn (guard, apparently Elara’s best friend) - Makar (personality is “I like sex and I’m hot”) - Kalista (enemies to friends I guess) - Gavrin (king’s guard)
Her romance with prince Fintan is intense and fast, they’ve know each other for maybe a week or two before they’re having sex and saying they love each other. Then they have a threesome with another character, Makar, who uses his influencing glamour to make Fintan interested and cool about it happening? I know that it’s stated that he just used it to make what Fintan was already thinking/feeling surface and later to make him feel more secure with what happened, but it came across as kind of icky. Eventually they break up a couple weeks after because Fintan starts backing away after their night with Makar and as well as Elara’s whipping by Fintan’s father.
They’ve been broken up for a few days when Zayn returns from his trip and they (very predictably) recognize that they’re mates and have sex for the first time (again saying I love you). Their magic bonds, they break the bed, etc. etc. Then we start zooming through towards the end of the book. Finan is thrown to the side quickly and forgotten until the last few chapters.
First, I know I keep going back to the pacing, but 29 chapters is way too short to have gone through all the events of the story. I don’t think I felt connected to any of the characters and the random pov chapter changes in the last part of the book felt disjointed. Either make it more consistent or remove them. I think there were only two or three chapters that were Zayn’s and I don’t think they added to the story as they were just the same events of the previous chapter from his pov.
Second, I’m all for badass female characters but you have to consider that we have a woman who is coming from starving villager who can only use a bow to magic warrior within a few weeks. Even if we have a suspension of disbelief that perhaps the fae get stronger faster than humans, it still makes absolutely no sense that she would be able to hold her own against other fae who have been training for decades longer than herself. Brute force with more powerful magic? Sure. Being able to disarm and beat them in hand to hand combat or with weapons? No. I also love confident characters who know they’re that girl (or guy), but the constant smirking is killing me.
Third, the side characters really were SIDE characters. I don’t feel that many of them truly added to the story besides making deaths more impactful or to serve a specific purpose. Characters like Eryn were interesting and I wanted to know more about all of them, but we pushed past backstories and personalities to fit in all the things that are happening to Elara. These are her friends and we’re supposed to believe they’re besties even through we barely see them? All of the side characters were very flat to me.
When the second book comes out I might read it, but I truly hope that we start to slow down and begin deepening the connections between characters.
Listen, I was lucky to get this as an ARC, and I’ll be honest, I’ll be buying a physical copy to reread and hopefully beg her to sign for me for my library.
From start to finish, this book had me in a fucking chokehold. The characters, the magics, the world, THE FUCKING PLOT LINES. It had everything you could want and then some. The FMC was a badass. I loved the other ladies in the book as well. The Male characters were all top notch too. We had witty banter, we had flirting that made me blush, we had intrigue, we had mystery, we had plot lines on plot lines and we had SPICE BABY. Literally it hit every mark for me. And I say this being 100% honest, she put crack in this book because the second I was done it, I was jonesin for the second book and was contemplating rereading this book immediately.
10/10 for me. Loved it all. Cannot wait for book two and three.
4.5⭐️ "I can't promise you the stars baby...but I'll make you feel like you're burning among them." Troupes- Found Family Fated Mates Magic Morally gray mmc
Elara grew up believing that she was a mage. On her 18th birthday, she would receive her power and have her fated mate's name told to her - but it was all a lie. She isn't a mage. She is a Fae, and the day her magic awakens, everything comes crashing down. The story has some great MMCs and some great spice. I will say the relationships Elara had with both Fintan and Zayn felt very Insta- love. I would have liked a little more development in Elara's and our MMC's relationship. Thank you for choosing me to be an ARC Reader.
I received this book for free as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I devoured this book in a single sitting — it was so easy to get into and get hooked on! I loved the magic system and how well thought-out it was, but I wish we had delved further into character development and bonds. Some parts of the story felt a bit surface-level and rushed. I also wish the romantic elements hadn’t gone from 0 to 100 in what felt like just a few days — the personality shifts were a little too abrupt.
That said, it was such an easy and enjoyable read, and I thoroughly loved it. I’ll definitely be continuing the series! ALSO, this book is packed with spice, so it was a total vibe to fly through.
I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy, fun read that leaves you feeling fulfilled yet still wanting more!
finished the book before it released and i already need the next one.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS I was one of the lucky people to receive this book as an ARC. It was the first ARC i have ever read and i greatly enjoyed it. There were a lot of similarities to other fantasy books but i was honestly eating it up the whole time.
it was the most fun i’ve had reading a book in awhile, i read 80% of it while i was at work today and i was giggling and kicking my feet.
also Zayn has me barking out here😭 why don’t these men exist in real life. i’ve never been a huge fan of pet names. i could have probably counted the number of ones i actually liked on one hand before this book. Peach has been added to the directory because ohhh man🤭🤭
Im so grateful to have this as my first ARC read opportunity and if book two will have one as well, I would LOVE to apply for that one as well! thank you for writing such a fun and instantly captivating story, and i’m super excited to see where it goes.

I received this book as an arc, thank you for giving me the chance to read it! This book follows Elara, as she learns about who she really is. She meets the prince who is immediately enthralled with her. Soon after she comes into her power and stuff goes sideways quick. She wakes up in the castle, and now it’s a fight for survival. Ohhh man… this book. I could not put it down at all. There was SO much that went on, you were constantly kept on your toes. She becomes friends with Eryn, Makar, Zayn, and Gavrin. They are the only ones Zayn told her she can trust, and for good reason. Also- I think we ALL need a Makar in our lives, a friend like that, with that power, yup we all need a friend like that lol. I absolutely loved Elara and how much she grew and changed throughout the book. I could see myself through her at every step of her journey. She was one who you can look up to and think, damn- I need to be like her! Zayn, phew man, I… he sounds dreamy? Delicious? Like a pain in the ass but for good reason lol. Ohhhh the spice man, was spicing! If you like fantasy, magic, spice, etc etc then READ THIS!
This book includes all of your favorite Romantasy tropes! We have dragons, fated mates, Fae, Gods, and elemental magic.
Elara is fierce but vulnerable, a girl who’s been forged by loss and pushed into a destiny she never asked for. Zayn is powerful, broody in all the right ways, and incredibly loyal. Their dynamic adds a perfect thread of tension, never rushed, always brewing beneath the surface.
And let’s talk about the spice. This book is open door and doesn’t shy away from showing the FMC’s sexuality as part of her character growth, before discovering her fated mated. There’s even an MMF scene that will have you asking for more.
If you love: 🔥 Elemental magic ❤️ Slow-burn, tension-filled connections 🌫️ Dark, immersive worlds ⚔️ Characters who fight like hell for the ones they love
…then A Storm of Fire and Ash is absolutely worth diving into. A powerful, emotional fantasy that lingers long after the last page.
This book was divine! I couldn’t put it down and knew I would like it from the first page! I absolutely loved it all. It was fast paced, great world building and fantasy, contained awesome action and even some gore, emotional with pain and grief, lovely character growth, self discovery and empowerment, and even romance with delicious spice! Definitely a must read for those that love spicy romantasy. The world has not seen the final version of Elara Valdusian Aetheron yet, and I’m glad it hasn’t, because I can’t wait to see the fire she becomes! I’m looking forward to continuing this adventure.
I absolutely loved this book! From the very first page, I was pulled into a richly imagined fantasy world that was nearly impossible to leave. The worldbuilding was vivid, the magic system fascinating, and oh the characters! Each one felt so real and well-developed that I found myself fully invested in their journeys, emotions, and choices. What stood out the most was how gripping the story was. It was so hard to put down that I ended up reading it in just two sittings. Every chapter left me needing to know what happened next. The pacing was spot on, with just the right mix of action, spice, emotion, and intrigue.
CJ Greiser’s books continue to amaze me. A Storm of Fire and Ash is my favorite book of hers so far. The book is so empowering. I can’t wait to read A Storm of Wind and Ice to see what journey Elara and her mate, (not giving any spoiler mate name), have in store for them. Thanks for a wonderful fast read and not wanting to put the book down book CJ!
Got this book as an ARC, and let me tell you—I’m in love. From the jump, it had me in a chokehold.
The characters are unforgettable. The magic and world-building were spot on. The plot consists of layers on layers, all hitting hard. The FMC is a badass, the side characters are a vibe, and the men? Whew.
Witty banter, blush-worthy flirtation, spicy scenes, and more twists than I was ready for. I couldn't put it down, literally read it in a day. I finished it and immediately reread it to by hubby.
This is brilliant. If you are looking for a new fantasy series here is. Magic, fated mates, emotional damage, laughter, tears and indignant fury. I loved this from start to finish.
While reading A Storm of Fire and Ash by CJ Greiser follows the FMC Elara – a young woman who is growing up in a kingdom full of hate. The fae hate humans and want to dominate the world, humans hate the fae/all magical creatures and want to dominate the world. While you read this book, you will grieve as Elara grieves, loves as she loves, finds strength as she finds her own strength/power, and more.
Overall, I enjoyed reading A Storm of Fire and Ash by CJ Greiser. I found the story's premise to be more unique and not overdone, and I love how the FMC finds her power and strength through grief and loss to become a real badass. I didn’t find the book difficult to get into and the pacing wasn’t difficult, if anything it was a bit fast.
My biggest issue with this read was the constant insta-love. Either the FMC insta-loving with someone else or someone insta-loving her. While I understand fated mates, this goes above and beyond that. The relationships move very fast and there is no slow burn. I found myself wanting things to slow down so I can enjoy and savor more of the relationship and growth. But I guess the flip side is, at least I didn’t have a chance to get bored?
I look forward to book 2 and see how the story continues to grow in this series.
What a great read!! Plot ✔️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Romance ✔️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice ✔️🌶🌶🌶🌶 I did have harder time getting into this book, a little bit of a slower start and I was also working a lot, but so glad I stuck it out!
Elara was written so beautifully - her pain, sorrows, struggles, just everything was explained so well that I felt like I could see and feel what she was going through.
Growing up she was always told she was a Mage by her parents, but as the years pass by and she doesn't gain her powers she realizes she may not have that same power that flows through her mother.
She has to learn who she is actually meant to be through many struggles and changes. We get to see her change into that person as we follow her story. It also comes with a great ending that sets us up for the next book in this series!
A Storm of Fire and Ash was a wild, fiery whirlwind from page one. CJ Greiser doesn’t waste a single second before throwing you straight into the chaos and honestly? I was here for it.
It’s got that perfect blend of dark fantasy, fated mates tension, and “burn the world down together” energy that keeps you glued to the page. The pacing? Fast. The magic system? Easy to follow but still unique enough to stand out. The spice? Yeah…it’s there.
Elara and her bonded had me completely hooked, and I’m so ready to see where book two takes them next.
A free copy was provided by the author. My review is voluntary and all opinions are my own.
I was lucky to be chosen as one of the ARC readers and what a fantastic read! I loved following Elara as she wandered through fire, blood, and magic and was finally able to live!
The pace was wonderful, the descriptions absolutely delightful! “It was black, but not the kind of black you saw on mourning gowns or stiff ceremonial garb. No. This was the color of a midnight storm rolling in from the sea. Of smoke curling off a battlefield. Of power. Dangerous, unrepentant power. The fabric clung to my curves like it had been sewn from shadows and whispered promises.”
Spoiler- DRAGONS!!!!!!!
I cannot wait to read A Storm of Wind and Ice when it comes out!

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 rounded up! -Enemies to lovers -Fated Mates -Elemental Fae Courts -Obsessed MMC -Found family
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Part of the first half of the book & some dialogue were a little cringe for me, but I overall really enjoyed the storyline. Would definitely recommend to people who enjoy the listed tropes. The villain at the end also got me- wasn't expecting it! Our FMC and MMC are so obsessed with each other, and it is so enthralling to read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - as is every CJ Gresier book I’ve read!
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 - when it’s supposed to be spicy it’s real spicy. It’s written so well and it’s never corny. You can feel the wanting and yearning between characters.
I loved the character, world, magic and backstory development. Sometimes in fantasy it’s easy to get lost in the building and the layers of it and I never had that reading this.
I laughed so much, I teared up a little and I fanned myself a lot 🥵!
This book. Holy cannoli. AMAZING! I had the honor of ARC reading this and it reminded me of why I love CJ Greisers writing so much. The twists and turns were perfect, and the way this ended?! I can’t wait for book 2! I was also love her why choose writing but I can see why this series may not be why choose. Keeping it vague on purpose but I highly recommend this book! Elara has easily become one of my favorite fmcs
It was hard for me to start to get into this book but I’m so glad I stayed and finished it. The world building and characters drew me in the more I read. I am obsessed with Elara and our man Z.
I won’t be posting any spoilers but holy moly was this a good read! Very much looking forward to the next book!

I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down!
Inside you will find: +Magic, Fated Mates, and Prophecies +Dragons, Fae, Mages and more +Spice (They break the bed! lol) +Detailed world building +Intrigue and betrayal
If you like Fantasy stories with spicy romance, please read this book. I love that the main character is 27 yo and still shows so much growth in the book. It gave me some TOG vibes but with 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️!
I would recommend that you check the author's list of trigger warnings. As she states in the foreword, "Fiction should be an escape, not a harm. ...Your mental health matters more than any book ever will." There was one scene that I found difficult to read.
A Storm of Fire and Ash launches the Fated to the Thrones series with fast-paced drama, sharp banter, and a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers tension that hooks quickly. The world-building is vivid without dragging, and the political intrigue adds weight to the romance. While the pacing can feel a bit intense at times, it’s a compelling, addictive start to the series—perfect for fans of fantasy romance with high stakes and fiery chemistry.
This was a fun easy read I didn’t need to focus too hard on the world building. If you’re like me, who struggled to focus on the world at the beginning, you will enjoy this book. The story kept you interested and the spice kept you hot. 😂 I cant wait for the next book! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to read this early ❤️
I loved this book! Elara thought she was nothing until she discovered she was everything. Multiple love interests but Zayn is the one. He will ruin you! A warlock that will have you laughing every time he opens his mouth. I laughed, cried and held my breath through some of it. If you like Fae, Mages, Warlocks and Dragons this is a great read.
