Izzy Grimes is the baby of her generation, and for the most part, she’s always been okay with that. She has eight nieces and nephews she adores, older siblings to give her life advice, and an endless supply of love and support. But at the same time, she’s anxious to grow up and live her own life. A twenty-year-old senior in college, she’s worked hard to graduate early and start her career as a child life specialist to help children and families dealing with illness, injury, and hospitalization, all while taking nannying jobs on the side to satisfy her love of spending time with children. When her dad recommends a new family for her to nanny for, she’s happy to take on the job during her final year in school.

Lucas Steele is an English professor and a widower with two kids who has just about had it with hiring nannies. He knows he needs one, but none of them seem to take the job seriously enough or follow his care requests with respect. When the daughter of his boss shows up at his house to interview for the job, he’s surprised by his attraction to her. But she also has a great background with kids and genuinely seems to know what she’s doing. In fact, she quickly proves to be a better nanny than he ever could have imagined.

As Izzy and Luke navigate their professional relationship, things are further complicated when she enrolls in his English class and their attraction to each other grows as they develop an easy friendship. But Luke is a decade older than Izzy, who is not only his employee, but also his boss’s daughter and his student. With a host of reasons not to give in to temptation, it should be easy to resist blurring the lines, but their connection might just be too hard to resist, and too dangerous not to.

What a fantastic ending to this series. Izzy and Luke had excellent chemistry and their banter was so good. Being the baby of the family, Izzy was stuck between two generations. The one with her siblings and their partners and the one with her nieces and nephews since she was just a few years older than them. She always felt that ehr siblings didn't see her as an adult. Lucas saw her, he saw the brilliant woman she was even with their age gap. When Izzy's dad suggested her to be his nanny, they both fought their pull towards each other. Lines blurred and they couldn't resist, keeping their relationship a secret until the end of the semester.
Dani writes these beautiful characters with real life flaws and struggles. The mental health and queer representation in each book speaks so loudly and makes the reader feel seen.

This was my first book by this author and I definitely will be reading more of their work. I LOVED this deep story. To be honest, I am quite the sucker for a taboo, age gap, forbidden story. The FMC was wonderful. She was very mature and didn’t make me want to scream at her for doing overly dumb things and the MMC was very swoony. I absolutely enjoyed every page and would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a forbidden romance with a lot of depth.

ARC Review | Forbidden Single-Dad Romance

Never Regret follows Izzy Grimes, the baby of her family, who has spent most of her life surrounded by love, protection, and well-meaning guidance from older siblings. At twenty years old, nearing twenty one, she’s driven, compassionate, and already working toward a career as a child life specialist, all while nannying to support herself and indulge her love of kids. She’s young, yes, but not naïve. Life has shaped her into someone far more mature than her age suggests.

Enter Lucas Steele: widower, English professor, and single dad to Jeremiah and Summer. He’s exhausted, grieving, and struggling to find a nanny who respects his kids and his boundaries, until Izzy walks into his life. She’s not just capable; she’s exactly what his family needs. Unfortunately, she’s also his boss’s daughter… and then fate ups the stakes even further by placing her in his classroom.

This book handles its taboo elements with surprising care. The attraction is undeniable, but it’s never rushed or careless. I really appreciated how thoroughly the boundaries were discussed and respected before anything crossed a line. Consent is clear, ongoing, and thoughtful; Lucas is okay with stopping at kissing if that’s all Izzy is comfortable with, and sexuality is never treated as shameful or brushed aside. The fact that Lucas is actively in therapy, and that we actually see those sessions, added so much depth to his character and the story as a whole.

The chemistry between Izzy and Luke is undeniable, but what really made this book hit emotionally were the kids. Jeremiah and Summer are the heart of the story. Summer welcomes Izzy instantly, while Jeremiah guards himself, calling her “nanny number six” until he realizes she isn’t leaving. Watching Izzy build trust with them, and watching Luke slowly allow himself to hope again, was incredibly moving.

Izzy’s struggle with her place in the family also stood out. Being the baby sister left her caught between generations too young to be seen as an equal by her siblings, yet older than her nieces and nephews. Lucas sees her fully, not as a kid or an obligation, but as the intelligent, capable woman she is. That recognition is powerful, especially within their age-gap dynamic.

I went into this expecting a forbidden, slightly taboo single dad romance, and somehow… Ended up emotionally wrecked. Dani Grimes writes characters with real flaws, real healing, and real emotional weight. The mental health and queer representation woven throughout the series continues to shine, making the story feel grounded and deeply human.

The spice is meaningful, character driven, and tied closely to trust and connection rather than shock value. Luke’s more dominant side feels intimate and intentional, not performative. And the ending? Incredibly satisfying, sweet, emotional, and the perfect close to this series.

Never Regret is tender, forbidden, messy, and healing all at once. I closed the book feeling wrung out and full in the best way.

I went into this expecting a forbidden, slightly taboo single‑dad romance… and somehow ended up clutching my chest because this book is so much more emotional than I was prepared for.

Izzy is one of those FMC who feels like she’s standing right beside you, she’s young, earnest, trying so hard to step into her own life after years of playing it safe. She’s a virgin, but not in the naïve, sheltered way. She’s self‑aware, curious, and quietly brave. And when she takes a nanny job for Luke’s kids, Jeremiah and Summer, she has no idea she’s walking straight into the orbit of the man who already owns too much of her mind.

Because Luke isn’t just a single dad, or her new employer. He’s her erotic literature professor too. And that dynamic? It hits every forbidden, slow‑burn, tension‑soaked nerve in the best way.

Luke is grieving and processing life after the loss of his wife from a car accident a couple years back, and the weight of that grief sits in every room he walks into. He’s a devoted father, a man trying to hold his family together, and someone who desperately needs connection even though he’s convinced he shouldn’t want it. The male‑therapy‑rep is woven in so naturally, I was enamored by his emotional work, his guilt, his healing, it all makes him feel so human and relatable. The conversations between him and his therapist were so insightful and vulnerable, loved the twist there!

And then there’s the chemistry. The moment Luke and Izzy’s worlds collide outside the classroom, the air between them changes. It’s tender and aching and charged with this low, simmering heat that builds until you’re practically begging for them to give in. And when they finally do? Luke’s kinkier, more dominant bedroom side comes out in a way that feels intimate, attentive, and deeply tied to trust. It’s not just spice for the sake of spice. It’s connection. It’s release. It’s two people choosing each other even when they feel shouldn’t.

What really got me, though, were the kids. Jeremiah and Summer are such a huge part of the emotional heartbeat of the story. Summer welcomes her with open arms and happiness, while Jeremiah is more cautious in getting attached. He calls Izzy “nanny number six” until he realizes that she isn’t going anywhere. Watching Izzy step into their lives with gentleness and stability, while watching Luke slowly let himself hope again… it’s the kind of healing journey that sneaks up on you.

If you’re drawn to single‑dad romances with real emotional breakthroughs, forbidden nanny‑professor tension, FMC’s stepping into their power, and MMC’s who are endearing, complex, and quietly intense, this story delivers all of it and then some. Add in the meaningful, character‑driven spice yes, including Luke’s kinkier side and the tender, healing moments with Jeremiah and Summer, and Never Regret becomes the kind of romance that wraps around your heart and refuses to let go.

I closed the last page feeling wrung out and full at the same time. Never Regret is tender, forbidden, messy, and healing. I’m still thinking about Luke and Izzy long after finishing their story was incredibly impactful, the perfect balance of sweet and spicy!

A huge thank you to Dani Grimes & The Author Agency for the early copy!

Star: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

Never Regret is the fifth instalment in Dani Grimes’ Next Gen Series, and it delivers an emotional, heartfelt romance that leans heavily into family, growth, and the complexity of doing the right thing even when it hurts. While the series works best when read in order, this book still stands strong on its own thanks to its well-developed characters and emotionally grounded storyline.

Izzy Grimes is an easy heroine to root for. As the youngest in a large, loving family, she has grown up surrounded by support, but also under the quiet pressure of always being seen as the baby of the family. Her determination to graduate early and pursue a meaningful career as a child life specialist speaks volumes about her maturity and compassion. Izzy’s love for children is woven seamlessly into the story and never feels like a convenient character trait. Instead, it forms the emotional backbone of her choices and reinforces her desire to step confidently into adulthood on her own terms.

Lucas Steele is a compelling romantic lead, shaped by grief, responsibility, and exhaustion. As a widowed father and university lecturer, his life revolves around structure and boundaries, which makes his growing feelings for Izzy both believable and deeply conflicted. His frustrations with unreliable nannies make Izzy’s competence and warmth stand out even more, and their shared respect for one another develops naturally through everyday moments rather than grand gestures.

The tension in Never Regret is driven less by external drama and more by the weight of ethical and emotional stakes. The age gap, the employer-employee dynamic, and the student-lecturer relationship all add layers of complication that the story does not gloss over. Dani Grimes handles these elements with care, allowing the characters to openly grapple with their choices rather than rushing them into romance. The slow burn feels earned, and the connection between Izzy and Luke grows through friendship, trust, and shared vulnerability.

Family continues to be a strong theme in the Next Gen Series, and this book is no exception. Izzy’s close-knit relationships with her siblings and nieces and nephews add warmth and grounding, reminding readers that love comes in many forms. Luke’s devotion to his children is equally touching and reinforces the emotional weight behind every decision he makes.

Never Regret is a tender, thoughtful romance about timing, restraint, and choosing love with intention. It is emotionally rich without being overwrought and romantic without ignoring real-world consequences. Fans of age-gap romances with strong emotional depth and well-drawn characters will find this story deeply satisfying and a worthy addition to the series.

"You just bring out the best in me. You make me feel like myself again." - Luke (Lucas)

"If I were their stepmom, that would mean having a relationship with Luke and the idea of that was more appealing than I wanted to admit to myself."- Izzy (Isabelle)

Luke is a single dad and has a son, Jeremiah, a daughter named Summer, and a dog named Simba (I also have a Simba cat at home because I love The Lion King so much!). He was a very strict dad at the beginning; his wife, Amy, passed away a few years ago. And his main focus is on keeping the kids healthy. He also goes to therapy (on page), and the new nanny (Izzy) helped him loosen up and heal. He worked a lot on himself and trusted Izzy with his children, and that resulted in him becoming a fun parent and thinking about finding love again... With Izzy, she's a great (step) mom to the kids. Luke is also a professor at the college she goes to, and her dad is his boss. I love that they became friends first; they had a lot of movie nights. The mental health and comfort from this little family are the most important things in this romance, and I love that! They focused on having fun with each other and the kids. Izzy has been seen as the baby of the family. There is an 11-year age gap between Izzy and Luke, but Izzy is finally added into the family group chat with her generation on her birthday!

Luke doesn't really have family outside his kids, and Izzy made plans for them to meet the kids in her family from the beginning. It's such a big step to share that with him, but it's so natural for her; she has a warm family, and it feels natural that Luke, Jeremiah, and Summer became part of it as well.
Izzy has brothers, Ian & Isaac (book: Never Apart), who will always be there for her, and I love how close they are; the personalities of Danny and Kennedy (book: Finding Our Way Back) are also clearly in their daughter Izzy! I love that moment when Izzy had drunk too much; that was a full circle moment with the past generation! Their family has welcomed a lot of small kids in the next generation! This is a family that I can read about, generation after generation, and not get bored with. I love that they are still so close and that the children are best friends with each other. Kaylee is just how I imagined her being: smart, open, kind, and completely herself, just what her parents (Olivia, Kayden, & Jace) wanted for her! Honestly, I want to know everything about the new kids/adults of the family, but especially about Kaylee. The book (Never Alone) about her parents is still my favorite but all their stories and personalities are so unique in their own ways! This is such a perfect ending to the series. I can't believe it's over; they feel so real!

I received an ARC copy of this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Dani Grimes once again proves that she can take any topic and turn it into an emotional romance that has readers feeling the full spectrum of emotions as they read her books. Book 5 in her Next Gen series, Never Regret continues with Dani’s amazing talent to write stories that pull readers in, captivating them until the very end. The heavy topics dealt with in this book are handled with care and respect.

Izzy is an amazing character through and through. She is the middle of two generations; the one she shares with her siblings and the one she shares with her nieces and nephews due to being close in age with some. She is smart, kind, and mature beyond her young age. When her dad tells her of one of his professors needing a nanny, she goes and interviews. She is going to school to work with children so this is a perfect fit for her. The only downside is she is extremely attracted to her employer, who happens to work for her dad, and her professor.

Luke holds the weight of the world on his shoulders. A single father to two kids, he is still grieving his late wife, and needs help. I loved how Dani weaved his therapy sessions in this story; sharing deep conversations, showing Luke’s vulnerability and insight, and his inner struggle with wanting to connect with someone again. When he meets Izzy, he is immediately captivated by her. Dani brings depth and emotion to their relationship, truly highlighting how well they are together, despite the numerous hurdles they face.

Every story that I have read by Dani truly shows her ability to write about human relationships. Our MCs are deep, complex, but easy to understand. Their interactions are dripping with chemistry and tension that I could feel. And when the spice finally hits?! It is written for connection, not just spice for the sake of spice. Never Regret is a beautiful love story overflowing with raw emotion, a healing journey, and opening yourself up to feeling again.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

This book might walk in wearing familiar romance tropes, but don’t be fooled — the execution is what makes it exceptional. What starts as a seemingly classic forbidden, age-gap love story quickly unfolds into something far more layered, emotional, and genuinely refreshing.

Izzy and Lucas completely surprised me. Their connection isn’t built on angst or miscommunication (thankfully), but on honesty, respect, and emotional maturity. The communication between these two is some of the best I’ve read in a romance — open, thoughtful, and grounded in mutual care. No unnecessary drama, no ego-driven misunderstandings. Just two people navigating complicated feelings while trying to do the right thing.

One of the standout elements for me was the representation of male therapy. Seeing a male main character actively in therapy — and having those sessions meaningfully woven into the story — was powerful and refreshing. It added depth to Lucas’s character and showed emotional growth in a way that felt authentic and respectful. We need more romances that normalize men doing the work to heal, and this book absolutely delivers on that front.

Izzy is equally compelling. She’s young, yes, but far from naïve — driven, compassionate, and deeply committed to the people she cares for. Her role as a nanny and her passion for helping children gave her character so much heart, and her dynamic with Lucas’s kids was incredibly touching.

Yes, the tropes are all here — widowed single dad, nanny romance, professor/student tension, age gap, forbidden attraction — but they’re handled with care and intention. Nothing feels rushed or exploitative. The emotional pacing is strong, the boundaries feel realistic, and when lines do blur, it feels earned.

If you’re looking for a romance that balances tenderness, emotional depth, and just the right amount of heat — while also delivering a refreshingly healthy relationship dynamic — this one is absolutely worth your time. It exceeded my expectations in all the best ways.

Thank you for the ARC. 🩷

First, this story is set in beautiful Oahu, Hawaii and features the beach and some surfing – perfect to read in the winter! Also, I love the nanny and single Dad trope and this story added in an age gap, professor/student, and boss’s daughter story lines – whew! There were so many reasons that the strong attraction Isabelle and Lucas felt for each other was forbidden. The chemistry between these two was HOT and the longing was such sweet torture!

Isabelle (Izzy) was almost twenty-one when she started nannying for Professor Lucas (Luke) Steele (age 32), a single dad of two kids, Jeremiah (age 8) and Summer (age 5). Luke works for Izzy’s Dad at the University of Hawaii, and that is who recommended her to this nanny job. To make things more complex, Izzy is a virgin and Luke is grieving the death of his wife Amy, who died two years ago. Luke has extreme trust issues at first and it’s interesting to see how Izzy starts to break down his walls of defense. The kids have their own trust issues, and while Summer quickly falls in love with Izzy, Jeremiah takes a lot longer to develop feelings for her.

The author works with many sensitive topics with great care. I like the way Izzy’s virginity is treated – she’s not shy, naive, or docile. She’s a confident young woman who is ready to take charge of her sexual fulfillment. Throughout the book I had the sense of dread for Izzy and Luke getting caught if they acted on their romantic feelings because both had so much to lose. This kept me turning pages of course to see how it would all play out. This book is a spin-off featuring characters from the Oahu and Boston series by the author Dani Grimes, but it can be read as a standalone. Izzy comes from a big family, and the other books feature them. It would be enjoyable to read them first to know their backstories if possible.

Izzy and Luke 🥵 The absolute angst, tension, yearning and chemistry! You could feel it sizzling 🤭 This couple fought with everything for their happily ever after, and I am so happy for them 🥹❤️ Thank you so much, Dani, for this ARC ❤️ This book was so emotional for a number of reasons, but especially for being the last in the series 🥹❤️

Isabelle Grimes 🧎‍♀️ A strong, feisty and sassy fmc 😌 Izzy has lived up to the Grimes and Dani fmc name 😂 Her character has a lot of depth and growth throughout every chapter! She's motivated and dedicated not only to Luke and his cutest kids, but to herself and fighting for her 🥹 The way she bantered with Luke had me cackling and blushing because girl!! She kept him wrapped around her finger and nobody could deny it 😈 Beautiful, shy, strong, independant, feisty, kinky, and extremely talented! Her bond with Jere and Summer was so wholesome and loving!

Lucas Steele 😏 Luke is a charismatic English Professor and a brilliant single dad. His bond with Jere and Summer was so adorable, especially when the 4 of them were together 🥹 His character grows each chapter and I fell more and more in love with him 🥹 When I tell you he is absolutely hawt and respectful. Add in patient and yearns and you have both Izzy and I addicted 😏😈 His love for Izzy only deepened every time and this man is OBSESSED 😏 Handsome, older, successful, rich, kinky, protective, charming and patient 😏 If Izzy bantered, he bantered right back adding in a whole lot of charm and smirks 😈

The writing is incredible and gripping! The spice 😏 So kinky and what a slow burn!

‍❤️‍🔥Never Regret ARC Book Review❤️‍🔥

Never Regret, the fifth book in Dani Grimes’ Next Gen Series, offers a touching romance centered on family, personal growth, and tough choices. This is the first book that I have read by Author Dani Grimes.

Isabella (Izzy) Grimes (MFC) is portrayed as a relatable protagonist, the youngest in a caring family who feels pressure as the "baby." Her determination to graduate early and become a child life specialist reflects her maturity and compassion, with her love for children shaping her choices and growth toward independence.

Lucas Steele (MMC) is a convincing romantic protagonist shaped by loss, duty, and fatigue. A university lecturer and widowed father, he leads a life defined by routine and limits, which gives real depth to the conflicted emotions he develops for Izzy. His experiences with unreliable nannies highlight Izzy’s reliability and kindness even more, and their mutual respect grows organically through everyday interactions instead of dramatic displays.

Never Regret builds tension through ethical dilemmas, an age gap, and complex relationships. Dani Grimes develops romance slowly, centering on friendship, trust, and vulnerability between Izzy and Luke. Family is a key theme: Izzy's close bonds add depth, while Luke's dedication to his children shapes his choices and motivations.

I really enjoyed this book and now I need to read the rest of the series.

Never Regret finding what makes you happy!
Never Regret is the beautiful story of Izzy, the baby of her family, never quite seen as an adult and her new professor and boss, Lucas Steele.
Izzy excels at everything, is dedicated to school, her family and friends, but is eager to find her own way and have her own life.
Lucas Steele is the sexy professor everyone drools over. A singer parent of two kids struggling to find a nanny due to his high expectations and fears of letting go.
When they meet, the attraction is immediate, but several obstacles stand in their way: the age gap, the fact that Lucas is her professor for the semester and also her boss at home, his friendship with Izzy’s father and also his insecurities after losing his wife.
But when the connection is everything, they both need and ever dreamt about, it becomes impossible to resist.
Never Regret is about putting your heart on the line despite all the obstacles, simply because there is no way to deny a forever kind of love and soulmate connection.
Dani Grimes gives us a beautifully written romance where the characters have depth and the story develops into the perfect love story that will make you swoon and blush.
Never Regret has it all: tension, slow burn, spice, overbearing families, real friendship and a soul deep attachment.
Thank you for the ARC.

3.5 Stars – A Fresh Start

In this fifth installment of the Next Gen series (and the only one I’ve read), readers get up close and personal with Izzy, the baby of a very large and interesting family.

While the blurb gives you a solid idea of what to expect, the real enjoyment of this story lies in the details though at times, those details felt a bit overwhelming for me. Izzy and Luke are instantly attracted to one another, but the circumstances surrounding them turn what could have been an easy romance into a slow burn.

I liked both main characters right away. Izzy is a mature twenty-one-year-old, and Luke, who is a few years older and “wiser,” brings a grounded presence to the story. As a widower with two children, his life experiences have clearly shaped his cautious approach to relationships. I understood his need for rules and boundaries, though at times they felt a little excessive. That said, it was refreshing to see him loosen up and allow himself moments of happiness.

The book is well written overall; however, since this story comes so far into the series, there is a lot of background explanation about the extended family. As someone new to the series, I found this made the story feel heavy in places. Even so, it still felt like a solid and meaningful addition to the Next Gen world.

I can’t believe this series has come to an end, but what a way to go! We have a single dad/nanny that doubles as a professor/student. I mean yes please!

Izzy is the baby of the family and in the middle of two generations. She feels like she will always be seen as a child even though she is almost 21. But Izzy is very mature for her age and it really shows by her actions, her kindness, and her behavior. She loves kids, so when her father asks her to help babysit one of his professors she agrees. What she doesn’t expect, is how hot Lucas was going to be.

Lucas is a single father after his wife passed 2 years ago. He is very particular on how the nanny is with his children and he goes through a lot of them. But when he sees Izzy, he stops dead in his tracks. He is instantly attracted to her, but knows it can’t go any further.

These two have AMAZING chemistry and a connection that starts building as a friendship. There is a big age gap, but with Izzy being so mature for her age, they get along great. And his kids love her too, which isn’t normal. Dani wrote these characters where they are easily relatable, they have flaws and it shows, but it’s done so well. You can’t help but root for their HEA. And there are some sad moments, a little twist with the family, but it’s sweet, so cute, and some spice!

I really enjoyed this book, first you have the forbidden element with the whole professor/student vibe, the nanny/boss angle and the age gap/dad’s friend angle. I mean what’s not to love?

Actually, tropes aside, this book is deeper than you might think, covering heavier and more complex situations than you might find in a standard forbidden romance.
It covers the gradual healing and the complex emotions surrounding grief and the consequences faced at the loss of one person in a truly tragic but shared way. It also shows how deeply one tragic accident can impact all those who were involved whether directly or indirectly.

Seeing Lucas and Izzy fight their instant attraction and chemistry was fantastic, but seeing them succumb? Well that was so much better and infinitely more explosive. I loved the way that they were able to connect with each other in such a way that it allowed them both to begin to heal from their shared grief and trauma. The banter between the siblings though was hilarious. The way they interact with each other and each others significant others was not only funny but also heartwarming and relatable.

Definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves a forbidden romance with hidden depths that shows the impact of loss on a persons mental health while still being entertaining and fun.

Book Title: Never Regret
Series: Next Gen #5
Author: Dani Grimes

Star Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Izzy is a twenty year old college student who is the miracle baby. With all her siblings being older than her she is more mature than normal!! When her dad ask her if she would be interested in being a nanny to one of his co-workers she jumps at the chance...it doesn't hurt that he is easy on the eyes.

Lucas is just trying to make it. Being a widow and single dad has been allot and he often wishes he has someone to share the load with. After being offered a higher position at the college he works for he takes up his friends offer for help with a nanny.

After spending so much time together and Izzy helping Lucas with some of his fears feelings start to grown. They know they should not act on them because it will put Lucas's job in jeopardy, but they are having a hard time staying away from each other. Now both of their past are getting ready to collide and they will have to decide how they will deal with it.

I really enjoyed this book! The adult text thread between the siblings was hilarious. I will say if you have any infertility issues I would maybe check the trigger warnings. I love a good student/teacher age gap romance and this one did not disappoint.

Thank you to The Author Agency and Dani Grimes. This is my second ARC from her and I think I loved it more than the first one!! This series is a second generation series, but you can still enjoy it without having read the first generation. I’ve never read the first generation series, but I have read other books in the second generation series. You can still fully enjoy the books, it’s just other characters and their stories get mentioned. I honestly loved everything about this!! I knew from the start with the prologue, where this was going and it was done so beautifully! I mean, the reveal and the built-up tension. I’m usually very iffy about a student/Professor relationship, but at least homegirl was a senior and graduating. Also, she technically wasn’t even trying to take his class. Then mix that in with a nanny/boss relationship… yeah I loved it. This is also an age gap romance, but I feel like the age gap is manageable. It’s like 10 years and at least they’re both consenting adults. This was such a wonderful story and I enjoyed how everything played out. Seeing the relationship build between Izzy and Luke and how at first it just started off as friends, but of course there were underlying feelings. Then they finally came to light and it was beautiful.

Never Regret

Isabella (Izzy) Grimes is the baby of the family, though she is in her final year of college, she is mature beyond her years and v wants to be seen as an adult by her older siblings.

English professor Lucas Steele lost his wife in a car accident a couple years prior. He is in need of a nanny after his latest nanny quite because of his demanding list of rules. His boss Danny mentions that his daughter, Izzy, has nannied before and would be good for the job.

Sparks fly .... but they can't act on it bc
A) she's his bosses daughter
B) she's his nanny
C) she's his student
D) there is an she age

I loved Luke and Izzy!!!
From the struggles of Luke loosening the reins on his rules to allowing his son to walk their dog. Izzy is so comfortable with who she is and her nurturing self with Luke's children is beautiful.

The best parts of this is Izzy being let into to the chat formly known as the Oahu siblings chat and seeing Lucas' kink and seeing all characters we've met and loved in this series along with those of the 1st Gen series.

So sad to see this series come to an end ....

Yes this is a standalone but highly recommend reading from the start of the series.

Izzy + Lucas

Professor Steele + Nanny Izzy...

Never Regret follow the baby sister of the Grimes family, Izzy. She is in her last year of college before heading to finishing out her qualifications to help kids (child life specialist) which is admirable. She is a ripe 20 year old when we meet her and she turns 21 in the books. Anyway, she ends up having to be in Lucas' classroom because her dad's is full. She is not only in his class, but is his nanny and haunting his dreams.

Lucas is trying his best to not cross boundaries but Izzy is in his home and getting under his skin. I really enjoyed the forced proximity and that all factors were considered before they dove into anything. & that Lucas was OKAY with just kissing if that's all she was okay (consented) to and that sexuality wasn't shied away from. They openly discuss it.. and Lucas is in therapy.. we get to see those sessions too which I think added depth to this story.

Dani does an excellent job of showing that age is just a number and our FMC has the maturity of not someone who just turned 21. Life will do that to you. Also, PLEASE read the TW there is some stuff that happens later in the book that may be triggering for some.

Thank you to the author for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Never Regret
(Next Gen Series Book 5)
By Dani Grimes

Isabelle was a breath of fresh air that I hadn’t even known I’d needed in my life.

“I want this too, Luke—more than I’ve ever wanted anything—and I think we’re worth waiting for. In less than two months, we can do this.”

Can we talk about sexual tension for a second?! Hot d*mn! Izzy and Luke’s story is a slow burn but the sexual tension between these two is so thick, it makes the whole story so hot even before the spice actually starts. I loved that these two don’t tiptoe around each other. They understand what is on the line if they decide to take things further to soon. But they are also very open with each other and what they are feeling. It’s such a refreshing take on the dad/nanny trope. Seeing Izzy fall in love with Luke’s children and they in return love her also is just the icing on top of the cake!
Another bonus is Izzy’s family and extended family showing up in this story. I love this huge crazy family that Dani has given us. They love hard and are so supportive for each other. I wish I was part of this fun clan!

This story was an emotional rollercoaster at times. The ups and downs that this couple has had to endure is a lot. They captured my heart from the beginning of the book all the way to the end. I am sad that this series has come to and end. I really hope we get more books from this world. Getting to see all the old characters and root for Izzy and Lucas was everything. You can not help but want to see these two finally get toghether. This book was a slow burn but was done in a fantastic manner. I love how she incoporated writing naughty scenes in romance books as the cirriculumn for Lucas's class. They have a lot of good dialog surrounding that topic and it was very informative. I really enjoyed the way Izzy loved and protected Luke's kids while also helping them all heal from the trauma of losing his late wife. Izzy is exactly what they all need and it really shows. The development of the story line was chefs kiss. This book had a lot going on but at the same time everything had its place and its purpose. I loved that this book did not have a thrid act break up and even when tragedy struck they stood by each other and never let what happen changed them. They fought for love and for life and they won at life as well.

Wow - this book is amazingly written. This is my first time reading a book written by Dani Grimes, and I enjoyed every moment of it.

I don't have a favorite scene per se, but I do love the way Izzy and Luke bond with one another and their friends and family. Izzy has a lot of siblings, and yes, they are a bit on the overprotective side, but they do love Izzy a lot and support her in whatever decision she makes. I also love how Izzy's siblings get along with Luke and could tell right off the bat that there is something romantic going on between the two of them. They definitely do not stop their relationship just because Luke's is her professor and Iz is 10-11 years younger. If anything, they were supportive and reminded them to be careful.

Oh, and I cannot forget about Jeremiah and Summer. They are the cutest kids ever~ Jeremiah is SO mature for his age, and Summer is just the sweetest little girl. I wish there were more scenes with Simba, their dog. Izzy gets along with Luke's children and dog so quickly, and it is not a surprise that they all love her so dearly. I mean, even Jeremiah had a change of heart towards Izzy. He was a little mean at first, but Izzy definitely lowered his walls as they bonded more.

The intimate scenes are indeed intimate, but it is not fast-paced. It is quite slow - Luke wants to make sure that Izzy is okay since she is new to all of this. He is super gentle with her, but goes a bit rough once she is ready.

This book is definitely worth reading, and I am so honored to have read and reviewed this book as an ARC, thanks to the author and The Author Agency.

4.5 stars

Never Regret hooked me from the very first chapter and never let go. The story flows so beautifully, and the yearning, tension, and attraction are done incredibly well that I kept forgetting to take notes for my review because I was completely sucked in. Luke and Izzy’s communication was such a refreshing surprise for this trope and made me root for them even harder.

Dani Grimes writes her characters with so much depth and handles sensitive topics with real care. Luke, Izzy, and the side characters all have strong, distinct personalities especially when they’re in scenes together. It is nearly impossible not to fall in love with them and want to join the family! While it was sometimes hard to keep track of who was who, it never took away from my overall enjoyment.

This story is happy, sexy, fun, and emotionally rich, with mature communication and no unnecessary drama. The family dynamics added so much warmth, and I only wish we had even more of Summer and Jeremiah. Honestly, I’d read more about all of them in a heartbeat.

Thanks to The Author Agency and Dani Grimes for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

✨Never Regret✨
Next Gen #5

By Dani Grimes

✨ College Romance
✨ Single Dad / Nanny
✨ Age Gap

⭐ 4/5

Izzy and Lucas

This story follows Lucas and Izzy. Their romance has many tropes and is a wonderful one. A journey of falling in love after grieving and being forbidden for some reasons too.
Izzy doesn’t have it easy in her family. Being the baby and having big age differences between her and her siblings she always was protected but not treated as the grown woman she is today.
When she becomes the nanny for Lucas, a professor at the college she attends and a colleague of her father, which the latter suggests, for the first time she feels seen.
And Lucas sees her. In more ways.
But growing to be more is difficult. Especially when she gets into one of his classes. Now they're forbidden for one more reason.
This slow burn romance with that tight knit family brings an emotional romance. One without overwhelming drama but everything that comes with their circumstances. But it ends with a wonderful love and happy end both deserve.

What a story to conclude this series and tie together the author’s universe (Oahu, Boston & Next Gen)!

I loved every moment of this book. This multigenerational family is exceptionally inclusive, loving, supportive, hilarious and spicy!

The storyline is addictive with emotional components that grab your heart and tug hard - Luke is a widower with two young kids and he is still dealing with how uncertain life can be and tying to overcome his overprotective reactions.

Izzy is a young woman who despite her age is super mature, mostly because she’s the youngest sibling and has interacted with adults, wanting to be their equal.

I strongly suggest reading the prior books because there are a huge number of family members who are mentioned and the connections and past events are frequently discussed. HOWEVER, I have not read all of the books in this series and I managed to feel very comfortable without feeling like I was missing out.

I received a free ARC from the author and The Author Agency; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

* ARC Read*

- Single dad/nanny
- Age gap
- Professor/student
- Slow burn

My first book from Dani Grimes. I wasn’t missing out on anything from the other books before this so it is easily read as a standalone. However lots of family members and people are mentioned from the other books before this, so if you want to know h the backstory behind them, then I would suggest reading those first.
This was an absolute slow burn. The beginning of the book sets up the scene for how the story is going to go and makes you wonder how it is going to play out. Both the main characters, Izzy and Luke, have been through a traumatic experience and learning how to heal and navigate from it. I love how easy going their friendship was and it wasn’t something they immediately jumped into. I love seeing them both heal with each other.

My heart is so sad this series is over! I remember arc reading Never Settle & easily falling in love with these characters! Dani Grimes has a way with words and has easily become one of my favorite new & indie author!

Never regret is the last book in this series following the baby of the family Izzy! While finishing up her degree while also doing what she loves nannying for her professor on the side.

I love how their connection started as professor student, easily opening up to each other and realizing they they chemistry between the two of them while also trying to be protect Luke’s job knowing he couldn’t have a relationship with a student. The build up was everything & it showed how mature Izzy was for her age being there was a huge age gap from Luke.

I’m sad to see this series end however I can’t wait to see what’s in next for Dani!

Can I be part of Isabelle's Village? How can every character in this family and its offshoots be more endearing than the last?! I love them all so much!!! Luke and Izzy have such sweet chemistry! She's perfect for him and his kids! I loved how they forged a strong friendship before giving in to their deeper feelings. And all that built-up tension, phew! It was worth it because, sweet baby Jesus, I got goosebumps! I didn't think my heart would have any room left after Koa, but Luke managed to squeeze in with ease! His vulnerability, his gentleness, his commitment to his children, and the way he treats Izzy make him the perfect partner for her! It's a beautiful love story that will stay in my mind and heart for a long time! I hope there will be a sequel with the next generation!

Never Regret is a beautifully written story that will give you all the feels and Dani Grimes did an amazing job handling Luke’s grief and his overprotectiveness when it comes to his two kids. Izzy comes into Luke’s life when he most needed to find a nanny to take care of them; I enjoyed how she manages to ease his mind with open communication and how their relationship is built on trust and friendship with some major underlying sexual tension. Izzy is so mature for her age and I loved how well she fit right in with Luke and the kids. I loved the witty banter, the humor that the group chat provided and the found family vibes that this book and the Next Generation series has provided right from the beginning. I loved Luke and Izzy’s story so much and what a wonderful way to end this series as it seems to come full circle.

Never Regret is a touching romance between Izzy and Luke - whom I was unfamiliar with because I hadn't read any of the previous books in this shared universe, but still fell in love with.
I felt very overwhelmed, like Luke, as I was introduced to this extended family, but I very much enjoyed the journey of this couple. The burn was slow and the spice is hot, but really this beautiful story just proves Luke's point from class....
I truly enjoyed getting to know this close knit group. Dani Grimes has a stellar writing style, and the grounded evolution of the forbidden love was a beautiful journey.
