A near-catastrophic collision with a mysterious vessel… …and now the luxury liner Atlantica is cut off from the world.
No satellites. No land in sight. Not a single plane in the sky.
At first, passengers hope it’s just a temporary glitch. But signs quickly mount that they’re stranded somewhere—or perhaps nowhere at all.
Elite soldier Jack Sullivan and officer Nia Evans fight to maintain control, but rising panic soon turns the ship into a boiling cauldron of fear, distrust, and violence. It's only a matter of time before complete chaos erupts.
Then, the mysterious vessel reappears. Abandoned. Seemingly lifeless. Yet strange technologies hum onboard—and a sinister countdown ticks toward zero.
Is it the key to survival? Or the trigger of a catastrophe no one will escape?
As a child, Tim L. Rey wanted to be an inventor; now he invents suspenseful stories. He loves unusual storylines and learning about the latest scientific findings, which help him write science-fiction thrillers that reveal the dark side in human beings—because dark fantasies lurk in each of us.
Tim has a degree in communication design and designs book covers when he is not writing. He also enjoys playing music and taking long walks with his dog, Tessa, to recharge his creative batteries.
The titular Ship is the MS Atlantica, but the gAI used to create this novel seems to have a problem with proper nouns so this repeatedly appears as "MS AtlanticaAtlantica", and there's the most-excellent sentence that begins, "Jack walked down the hall with MeganMegan...". I believe this is the same kind of gAI flub that creates images of people with six fingers or etc. Textual corrections are much easier than graphical ones so why the author / gAI wrangler didn't notice and correct this before publishing ... I cannot attempt to explain. The plot is incredibly derivative and predictable from the first chapter, the characters are cardboard cutouts who exist only to serve the needs of the narrative, and the few "factual" details are ... very much not. But it's readable and kinda diverting for a few hours, if that's what you're in the mood for.
I don't know what to make of this book. It's far longer than it should be. There's a thriller aspect to it but not too much. The story becomes clear fairly early. Especially if you're a sci-fi fan.
This isn't a fully new tale, a ship getting caught in some experiment and ending up somewhere else out of the "time stream" etc. The only new part would be the reason given for the experiment at the end.
The story takes probably 50% plus to even take interest. The human aspect of withholding information, deception, losing control & panicking, the selfishness & violence, are quite stark and we'll fleshed out. However, a bit too fleshed out - as most of the book is taken up by this. (plus the asinine decision making by some of the characters). The sci-fi aspect is actually quite light in this story, which is a shame for me. It's really a sort of Twilight Zone story, and could have been a short story. You can skip most of the book if you wanted to.

I have noticed several of my recent Kindle-unlimited selections have had an emotional appeal in the postscript. I have an idea of the publishing industry today by going to my local bookstore and seeing all the generic and copy-cat books being released today. It seems only one kind of author gets published. That's why I enjoy Kindle, it seems a much wider type of author gets published.
One shortcut on Kindle is the lack of rigorous editing that puts speed bumps in the reading, and a lot of tightening is needed in the story.
This novel is a science fiction investigating the time-space continuum. As the characters begin to experience the lack of continuity in reality the reluctant hero with a debilitating failure in his past is forced to be the leader through the confusion and threat of destruction. The telling of this story needs to be a little tighter, but overall, I appreciate the author's work and will look for his other books. For me three stars is a satisfactory story.
The Ship: Final Voyage is an exceptional sci-fi thriller that takes place on a cruise ship. The ship encounters a mystery ship, with which they are hit by, which sets off a series of unexplainable events. I'm not going to ruin the ending, its unexpected and too good to spoil. The writing is excellent, the only problem being instances of repeated names, but it doesn't take away from the excellent story. The characters, especially Jack, Ryan, Megan and Nia, all of whom play a role in saving the lives on board, but not without stepping out of their normal roles and thinking way outside the box. The plot is ideally matched to the plot and the story is unique. The description of both the unnatural storms and events on the cruise ship are clear and easy to follow. Overall, 5/5 stars, highly recommended to sci-fi thriller fans and thriller fans in general!!
Oh boy! What a thrill ride! I almost didn't finish reading it because it sounded a bit complicated and also spooky. Reminded me of the movie The Ghost Ship with Julianna Margulies (which was pretty scary. If you haven't watched it, please do so). This story seemed headed that way but eventually it shifted, and the adrenaline rush hit!
An excellently paced thriller science fiction mystery. This is not normally a genre I read, however I was drawn in by the synopsis and because sea tales have always interested me. I was gripped early on and raced from chapter to chapter. The characters are easy to relate to and root for. The mystery is not too far fetched when current technology is taken onboard.
I love ghost ship books so this worked for me. I liked the main characters and even the fact that there wasn't tons of backstory; you got to know what you needed to. One weird thing I noticed - frequently a name would be repeated or said twice. AntlanticaAntlantica. MeganMegan. Morrow StarMorrow Star. It distracted me. Otherwise it seemed well written.
I enjoyed this story. It reeled me in first few pages until finished. It was scary in that I can see human’s react so crazy when crises happen. Humans scare me. This was very realistic in human behavior.
I liked this book a lot. A good mix of action and thriller themes. The author keeps you drawn in and really pushing to read more. I liked the twist as well. Definitely recommend.
So much filler. So much ‘tell’ not ‘show’. So many descriptions of eyebrow movement. Great idea buried in purple prose. A decent copywriter would have paired this MS down & made it a great, readable novel. DNF - sorry.
An interesting sci fi thriller. Although the time warp concept was a bit fuzzy, the descriptiveness of the passenger behavior was not only fascinating but frightening. A perfect Halloween story!
