Sweet on Candy: A Workplace Holiday Rom Com

Rate this book
He needed a fake girlfriend. She needed a fresh start. Neither expected real sparks.

One fake girlfriend. One Christmas gala. One very big problem.

When Miles Kaine, heir to the Kaine Toys empire, blurts out that he has a girlfriend to stop his mother’s relentless matchmaking, he figures he’ll deal with the lie later. But “later” comes fast—his family’s glittering Christmas gala is just weeks away, and he needs a date.

Enter Candace “Candy” Hart—the newest temp hire with a peppermint smile, a talent for fixing broken things, and absolutely no interest in office romance.

Candy agrees to play along—strictly business, strictly temporary. She’s been used for her skills before and has zero intention of falling for her annoyingly charming boss. But as sparks fly and fake cuddles turn into something suspiciously real, Miles starts to wonder if the girl might be the one gift he never saw coming.

And suddenly...
Pretend isn’t feeling very pretend anymore.

Perfect for readers who love fake dating, holiday hijinks, office romance, and a hero who falls first—and hard.

M.K. Condry

M.K. Condry writes contemporary romance that’s equal parts steamy and smart—designed to make you blush, laugh, and maybe text your partner something filthy. Her heroines are the kind of women you want in your corner (or at brunch), and her heroes? All dirty talk and sinful charm—the kind you’d fantasize about.

She’s a genre-hopping reader with a hard “HEA required” rule. When a story plays it too safe, she hunts down the dark, the taboo, or the downright unhinged just to crank the dial back up.

A Southern California homebody through and through, M.K. likes her bed made, her laundry folded, and her meals planned—until a plot twist pulls her under. By day, she writes. By night, she reads until reality fades.

This isn’t just a holiday rom‑com—it’s a story about two people who never expected to find each other, and the way pretending slowly turns into something achingly real...

Miles Kaine might have the toys, the empire, and the charm, but what makes him compelling is how quickly he unravels once Candy steps into his life. He’s the kind of hero who falls hard, and watching him stumble through fake dates and family expectations with his heart wide open is both funny and tender.

Candy Hart is the soul of the book. She’s cautious, scarred by being used for her skills before, and determined not to lose herself again. Yet her warmth, her quiet resilience, and that peppermint smile make it impossible not to root for her. Every time she pushes back against Miles’s easy charm, you feel the burden of her past—and every time she lets him in, it feels like a small victory.

It’s sexy, it’s funny, but most of all—it’s honest. Condry gives us a short romance that leaves you with that warm, lingering ache that only comes from characters who fight for love and finally let themselves have it all.

Woot woot book 2 for this Christmas interconnected series by @
This one is on Candy who was a friend/roommate in book one. I've been needing something cute and sweet and this series has not disappointed plus she is brilliant and chaotic which are two of my favorite things.

Miles
CEO of his family's company and stuck being forced to meet women nonstop because of his overprotective mother who just wants him to be happy. He just wants to be loved for who he is and not what he owns. He's a massive nerd and loves toys. I absolutely loved him. He was sweet, patient, and understanding. He didn't try to change her.

Candy
She is friends with Maggie (Letters to Santa) and just a fun, loving caring girl. She lost her last job after she slept with her boss. She loves to tinker and fix things and looks at every item she sees as something she could mess with and make. Her father loved to make toys and that's a love she inherited from him. She's super close with her new friends and lives her life in a chaotic mess and is unapologetically herself

This story was super cute version of fake dating. It was never really fake. MK absolutely got me with the scene in his office and I was ready to kick his butt until I realized I misunderstood just like she did haha. I loved his mom and how she was so loving and OVER THE TOP. it's a cute quick read and I enjoyed every second. I very clearly needed this cleanse from my dark romances because of what I thought was going to happen to Steven 🤣🤣 now I want to own a Kaboom.

(Review is written for all 3 books as I read them one after the other and together)

If you're searching for books that encapsulate the essence of a Hallmark/Romcom movie marathon, deliciously cheesy, utterly adorable, and bursting with humor, then this trio is your perfect pick. But these aren't just your average feel good love stories; they come with a delightful dash of spice, creating a truly irresistible blend that had me genuinely giggling and kicking my feet with pure, unadulterated delight. We get to journey alongside our main girls Maggie, Candy, and Ellen, each navigating her own unique set of trials and tribulations before inevitably falling for the guy. This collection easily earns a high 4 stars on my personal scale, solidifying their spot as a top contender for my top holiday reads. Seriously, they've put me in the mood for decorating, sipping an insane amount of eggnog, and yes, even contemplating whether a Santa outfit might suit my unsuspecting husband this season!

Cute Read!

This is the second book in this series. It is a cute, short read. I enjoyed books one and two. And I’m looking forward to book 3. Books like this make it easy for me to stay on track for reading daily!

This story pulls you right in, waiting to see what happens next. Really cute story. Felt like a spicy Hallmark movie. The play on names was a nice touch, "candy cane" ;)
