A tiny novella where a witch discovers her mates....
This is an MMF romance that will grow and expand into a full length where our main characters will adventure through hidden tombs filled with ancient magic, and face new trials. Much more to come from this trio later!
Hello!! My name is Jacklyn Hyde and I write books geared toward readers who like romcom paranormal vibes. I like piña coladas short walks to my car Also a huge fan of carbs and everything smut related. I have cookies and would love new friends ❤️
I really liked this novella. It was different from the paranormal romcoms I’m used it. The story line and characters are very unique.
It’s about a witch that suddenly gets attacked by an ancient Egyptian bracelet, so she gets teleported to Egypt where she believes she’ll meet her mate and be able to have the bracelet magically unlocked by him.
It ends up being a MMF romance between her, a human, and a mummy. Very unusual.
My only complaint is that I think the author should have connected it back to the beginning of the story at the end. There’s no resolution at all with her magic, her cousin, her mate’s magic, or her family. It seems to end randomly and prematurely.
This book was short, weird, and a whole lot of fun. The plot wasn't the strongest, and could potentially have benefited from being a full-length novel rather than a novella, but the vibes were certainly there! I'm also a sucker for an Egyptian setting, so pyramids, mummies, and curses were all green ticks for me.
This novella was a wild ride. Very little plot, no real explanations of anything, the story relied on vibes and adrenaline. But I had fun! Which is all you can ask of a fated mages insta-love story that is under 100 pages.
FMC Chloe is a witch with minimal powers who’s stuck doing inventory on Halloween when a mix of circumstances, including a magic bracelet and a scurrying cousin, teleports her to Egypt and straight to her fated mate. MMC Sebastian has been waiting for her for a very long time, and he has another surprise mate waiting for her.
This book was super fun. I loved the Mummy vibes, and it was very spicy, leaning hard into the mate/insta-love trope. It did feel a bit rushed, everything happens very quickly, and I could’ve used a little more exposition and storytelling.
Overall, it’s a fast, entertaining read. There’s a hint we haven’t seen the last of these characters, so I’m excited to see if this ends up being the start of something more.
Spice 4/5 Plot: 4/5 Writing: 4/5 My Enjoyment: 4/5
I don’t want to rate this- but I will say thanks to ancient aliens I have a very negative knee jerk response to aliens in ancient Egypt. And it devolved from there.
idk why i read this, idk i expected more than just sex with almost no plot, but maybe that's a me problem, i should've check before reading it,, still didn't feel like dnfing because of how short it is,, but yeah...
Probably wouldn’t read anything else like this or recommend it. For how short it was, it sure had a lot of build up to introducing the two other main characters
Now I loved The Mummy, my family probably hates it because of how many times I would watch it, Rick, Evelyn, and Imhotep, finger licking good. The flesh eating beetles couldn't stop I the love I had for this movie. It's honestly no wonder why I'm a monster romance girly now. So when I saw Jacklyn post about this I was so excited and it's really good!!!
You've got Chloe who's a witch with no powers and a magical bracelet that drops her off at an Egyptian tomb, and she meets a hot archeologist named Sebastian, and then there's Ausar who's super hot AND PURPLE. The book's called Threes A Wrap so they are all together and her boyfriends are boyfriends (mates), so the smut SMUTS and it's again delicious.
The Chloe on the cover does not match the description enough from Chloe in the book, I mean it doesn't have to give the cover Chloe "dry and frizzy, unable to be straightened, and cut short to my shoulders" (this was pulled right from the book) but we could have given her a cute bob?!? Or the cover was received and her description to dry and frizzy, past her shoulders but always in a haphazard pony or messy bun. Also on my page 20 it says she's wearing trainers, and this could have easily been changed to boots. Idky I'm crashing out about this but I digress, it doesn't hurt the story.
You know the memes about the people with tism and it's the "what historical event did you hyperfixate on" (if you're reading this comment below yours because my was the Life of Nefertiti and The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald) anyways using Nefertiti as the villain hurts my stomach and sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth, let's just leave her to rest (and bring her bust back home, she's been gone for too long).
So that's why I think this book only is only 4 stars (I wish GoodReads did half and quarter ratings because it's a 3.75 in my mind).
This was a short sweet spicy MMF novella and a retelling of The Mummy. I know that these three characters will be back in a full length book which I have already add to my TBR pile, and is part of a series called Monster Bae. Although the first book in the series (about Dracula which I've read and absolutely loved) has over a hundred reviews books two and three don't, so I'll be diving into them pretty soon. As a fan of monster romance, I really enjoyed this one and this new to me author has got a fan because her monsters are just so lovable.
Chloe Landry is a witch with no magical abilities and a walking magnet for finding trouble. When a magical bracelet attaches itself to her after her once again scrying for her mate, Chloe needs to wait for her know it all cousin to arrive and help her remove it. When it turns out that the bracelet might only come off by finding her mate, she finds herself heading for Egypt. Of course when she gets there, what she gets isn't what she was expecting.
I loved the main character Chloe, who's as accident prone as I am (just no magic involved with me.) And Sebastian and Ausar (mummy) were instant male hotties for me. There's also a surprise twist which I really didn't see coming but I can't wait to read more of. Totally recommend 😁
I really wanted to enjoy this book, but it just didn’t hit the way I hoped it would. When I saw that it was described as a mummy-inspired novella, I had a certain expectation going in—and unfortunately, it wasn’t quite what I imagined.
I didn’t really feel the chemistry between the characters, which made it hard for me to fully connect to the story. There were bits of backstory that I found interesting, and I think that’s where the potential really is. If that had been fleshed out more, I might’ve felt differently.
I do want to be fair, though—this is a novella, so there’s only so much room to work with. Because of that, I won’t go too hard on it. The characters just didn’t feel fully connected to me, which made the romance feel a little flat.
That said, the ending hints that they’ll return, so I’m open to giving it another try if we get more depth and background in the future. I really wanted to like this one, and I’d still be willing to check out more from this author.
⭐ Rating: 2.5 / 5 Not bad—just not quite what I was hoping for.
Mummy Retelling Erotic Novella Witches & Magic Plus size FMC FMC is 31 Mates MMF HEA
Three’s a Wrap is fast-paced, fun, and delightfully unashamed of what it is: an erotic love letter to The Mummy (1999). If you’ve ever wished those three iconic leads would just get together already, this novella delivers exactly that fantasy. Directly, playfully, and with zero hesitation. It’s a quick hit of nostalgia, sexiness, and tongue-in-cheek fun.
I did find myself wanting more, not because anything was missing, but because the overall pace is quite fast and the ending comes a little abruptly. Thankfully, it seems the author has plans to expand this into a longer version, and you can feel the story itching for that extra space to breathe. I’m so excited for it.
If you’re looking for a fast, spicy read that leans hard into Mummy-era charm and wish-fulfillment, this one is absolutely worth picking up.
Three’s a Wrap - Every 90’s Girls (and Guy’s) The Mummy whet dream
Where do I start? Ok, this was my first book by Jacklyn Hyde. My friends have been talking nonstop about her and her books forever! So when Three’s a Wrap dropped today, I immediately picked it up (everyone has to start somewhere). And let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
In this funny, short spicy read, Jacklyn gave us just enough details to keep us engaged while also hanging on to the edge of our seats with the “what happens next?”
For anyone who grew up watching The Mummy and FELT the MMF chemistry between Evelyn, Rick & Imhotep and wanted MORE… Three’s a Wrap delivered!
I for one am a total fan and will be diving down the Jacklyn Hyde backlist rabbit hole!
When I heard about Three’s A Wrap, my heart immediately went “YES!” as a massive, lifelong fan of The Mummy (1999). I truly wanted to love this one so much, but unfortunately, I just couldn't fully connect with it.
It's a quick, fun concept, but I struggled with the pacing. There were several moments that felt a bit awkward and rushed, particularly when it came to developing the relationships between Chloe, Sebastian, and Ausar. I totally understand that this is a novella, and there simply isn't much page space to fully flesh out an entire, complex romance storyline. Even keeping that in mind, something about the story didn't quite click for me, which is why I'm settling on a 2.5/5 stars.
BUT the potential here is absolutely huge! I am invested in this trio and their dynamic. When the full-length novel comes out about these three, count me in! I’d definitely dive into a full story about Chloe, Sebastian, and Ausar in the future.
Like the cover. Like the overall concept/story, not so much the execution.
There's smut, it's explicit...but it's not good. I can't even remember the last time I read a Mills and Boon but it felt like an explicit M&B.
Chloe was an immature adult. Like an urrrrgghhhhh, why do I have to do this teenager. We didn't have to spend all that time with her hating on her cousin. It felt like other woman drama when there is no other woman in the story.
So, liked some aspects, didn't like others. The smut just wasn't particularly good but I appreciate that it was a short story. I think I was particularly let down coz it's MMF but I was just eye rolling for most of the story.
Good concept, wished there was more pages or more things explained, spice was good, got a little weirded out when we fist met the mummy guy, still wished their was like around 300 more pages so we get to see their life and have an actual relationship with the characters. I liked that the fmc was a chubby girl, wished they described her better, mate me slightly weirded out by their wording of her body, it wasn’t negative but it had me confused on if the author knew how to word things right, not a lot of descriptions of their surrounding and just said basic things about how they look, not very good in my opinion
Chloe is a witch… though she doesn’t have much power. While doing inventory on Halloween, an ancient Egyptian bracelet attaches itself to her arm… and, along with the help of her cousin, she’s teleported straight to her fated mate. And a wrapped-up second mate as well.
So there’s little plot and a lot of spice here. I enjoyed the premise and the plot behind it (what little there was), and was also super excited to hear that this is being expanded into something full length. I liked the characters and the little triad going on. The spice was well written, but honestly, I’m just here impatiently waiting for the novel.
This was such a cute novella! I wish it was longer! I feel so invested in Chloe and her mates. Chloe gets herself into predicaments especially during Halloween, this year instead of accidentally summoning a demon (again) she gets her wrist stuck in a gold bracelet that seems to have a mind of its own. Happy chaos ensues when a simple scrying spell ends up with Chloe between the sheets with a few thousand year old alien mummy and an almost two hundred year old archeologist. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️
If you grew up on The Mummy and secretly developed a kink for the charming ‘undead,’ this story will hit every delicious spot. A tantalising tease of what could be an epic, character-driven adventure.
So we meet Chloe and she is a witch with no powers who would love to find her mate. She does get her wish and it comes with a surprise - she's got two mates!
Awesome, right?
Yeah, but one of them is a mummy - an actual dusty mummy.
And they have to wake him up.
Yep.
That's exactly what happens, and if you're wondering how absurd and insane that is, I must say our Jacklyn went full cuckoo, and it was glorious!
I certainly made faces while reading this, and I enjoyed every insanity!
Chloe is a witch without any powers who has an uncanny ability to attract disaster on Halloween. This Halloween while tidying up a store room a plain looking gold bracelet attaches to her and will bot release. After the initial panic, the bracelet sends her to Egypt, where she is thrust into the thing she desired most. This was a super fast and fun monster mash novella. It is an MMF and we aren't given a lot of time for them to have full personalities yet, but the glimpses you get are great. I'm interested to see what else this author has written!
This story follows Chloe, a powerless witch in search of her mate. When her cousin’s scrying sends her all the way to the sandy plains of Egypt, she finds not one but two dusty d!cks to play with.
This book has everything: an ancient curse, her boyfriends are boyfriends and a mummified pen!s…what more could you want? Overall, it was cute, short and at 50 odd pages, a fun way to spend an evening. Rating: 🔮🔮🔮.5
