Doomed Vows #2

Twisted Addiction

Rate this book
When ruthless 30-year-old mafia boss Dmitri Volkov is given an ultimatum—produce an heir before his thirty-first birthday or lose his position at the head of the Bratva—marrying Penelope was supposed to be a business transaction.
Cold. Strategic. Disposable.

He never expected her quiet defiance to crawl under his skin.
He never expected to want her.
And he definitely never expected her to vanish before he could understand why she’d left.

Until one night, by mistake, she dialed him instead of her father.
Her voice was trembling, exhausted.
“Dad, my babies were born, but I don’t have money to buy them formula.”

For a heartbeat, there was silence.
Then his voice—low, sharp, almost shaking.
“You were pregnant? Stay right there.”

Minutes later, the ground trembled with the roar of helicopter blades.
He was coming.

She thought he hated her.
He thought he didn’t need her.
But obsession has always been stronger than hate—and Dmitri Volkov never lets go of what’s his.

About the author

O.S. Feathers

12 books111 followers
O.S Feathers writes dark, twisty love stories about morally questionable men and the fierce, brilliant women who bring them to their knees, sometimes literally. She has a soft spot for arranged marriages, possessive antiheroes, and heroines who know how to shoot or at least threaten with style.

She drinks too much coffee, lives for slow-burn tension, and has never met a knife-to-throat scene she didn’t love. When she’s not writing, she’s probably researching obscure Russian swear words, rewriting a spicy chapter for the third time, or convincing her characters that therapy is not, in fact, the enemy.

If you like your love stories messy, dangerous, and just a little unhinged, she’s got you.

It was good but, I gave it a 2 star. I felt like there was no point to drag it into a 3rd book and the only reason it was done was to make money. It was super repetitive and I can’t stand the word (blade) anymore 😬🤢. At one point I started counting that word and the sentences it was in. It was ridiculous. Love the characters and the concept but, really it was a bunch of dragged out stuff that could have been done in like 2 chapters and it wasn’t until 94% of the end that you actually got what the end of the first book Clift hanger. Where the end of the first book, the second book could have been in the first 30-40% and could have went even bigger and better but, it wasn’t. I understand how the author was trying to explain the feelings of the characters but, this was just ridiculous repetition just to drag the book out for 94% of the book. Won’t be reading the 3rd book. Because it will probably be the same thing and then oh know 😱 you have to buy the 4th book too.

Dragged on for too long and the ending was too fast!
Not ganna lie it was better than the last book. But there were so many type errors and info errors as well! Which infuriated me so much. Hate every character in this book but Dimitri

Okay, here are some of my issues with this book.
If Dimitri knew Penelope had dissociative amnesia that was controlled by her parents then how can he be so mad and hate her for something she had no control over and didn’t know she had? I mean he should’ve known and believed she had no clue when he told her about her uncles raping her as a child and she was completely rocked by the news. I mean yeah he can absolutely hate her family but how can he hate her when she was being used and abused without any knowledge of it?

Who was the man in her bed when she was fifteen when Dimitri went to her window. Was it her father? I’m not sure if that was said or not. The mother didn’t know the uncles were raping her as a child so did she also not know her husband raped her as well? Or if he did, I can’t remember.

Still confused on why he sent her away for four months, he said at the end that she couldn’t die on him when he just found her again. Did he not know her location for the four months? How come nobody answered the phone when she called the number on the burner phone Giovanni gave her, I know she called it a handful of times. But then all of a sudden when she’s done giving birth Dimitri finally answers the phone? Were they avoiding her all together? I’m really confused.

The ex-fiancée, what the hell is that whole thing about? That still hasn’t been explained thoroughly. They said she wasn’t real then she was real, which we now know that she did and she comes from a powerful family. Why did Dimitri constantly compare the two of them or wish that Penelope was her? Why not just marry the ex? Did he send Penelope away so the ex could be seen as the mistress or become his new wife? Is he planning on divorcing Penelope to be with her or is Penelope gonna be the mistress? I need these characters to meet one another.

I don’t know how she can still love this guy after everything he did to her. Putting her in a cell for two days and basically having her kill herself, well actually it was his cruel way of murdering her even thought he doesn’t see it that way. The master part was horrible, her state of mind was so bad. Also, the thing that didn’t make sense when she was locked in the cell was when she had an asthma attack. In the last book when she had an asthma attack and she didn’t have her inhaler, she almost died but how come in this book she has one and is fine after blacking out? That makes no sense at all.

Also, I wonder who the spy is that’s been helping her father find out information? Is it the foster brother or Giovanni? I mean she’s only interacted with two people the whole entire book series.

Mafia

The first book in this story was okay but this one was so repetitive and even when things were finally revealed about why things were happening it still didn’t justify the mmc behavior. This is one story where I was not on board for a HEA.

And the about this book in the description is misleading.

I wanted to like this book was looking forward to the continuation of the story but found myself skimming, disappointed.

Book drag on for too long and was the plot was too jumpy.

Spoiler …..

The storyline was confusing. How is it that she has a high risk pregnancy but in order to have fun she joins a car race ? The MMC brings a doc to examine her, she says no, then doc notices blood , MMC send him out the room, she then demands to be examined and instead of calling the doc back in the room, they decides to go to the hospital. It’s like the author has forgotten what is happening. What a waste of a potential good plot.

not bad….but false advertisement

Tik Tok got me again!
granted I thought book one was ok I read it a few months ago and honestly forgot about it cause book 2 didn’t come out till recently and I saw a Tik Tok that had me like “oh yeah, I forgot about that series” but none of her Tik Toks quoting the book were in the book 🙄 I’m like if it’s in the third book just put that in the title or comments, don’t label it in a book it’s not in! book 3 isn’t out for a couple more weeks but if those “quotes” are in book 3 it wouldn’t make any sense with how book 2 ended…idk maybe it will make sense. We will see November 30th lol…but I like the plot/vibe of the series some parts are confusing as mentioned in other reviews

this book was also not good. at all. so much potential and it was just not good. the one line from tiktok that i saw was cute or whatever but i would not recommend just for that

but now im invested and need to know what happens so ima read the third and it will probably also suck but im too far deep to stop now

if giovanni is secretly a traitor i will actually DNF the next book mark my words hes the only reason im reading the series and if he turns out to be a traitor i will not be able to handle that and i will go into a slump as protest

literally ZERO smut. like hello where is the rest of the book

- Dmitri lowkey pissed me off. Like i get where he is coming from but come on there is no way Penelope would ever be capable of that. Like really, i just hope they stop hating each other.
- Recap Penelope just gave birth but her dad wanted to take her son. Dmitri arrived in time and she took a bullet for him. Penelope’s parents basically brainwashed her to do things. Dmitri believes that Penelope played a part in his mother’s death and that she slept with someone when she was 15. He promised her that he wouldn’t let anyone take their son, after he thought she terminated the pregnancy. The next book come out 29 December ( Ruthless Addiction)

A Complicated Story

I’m really conflicted about this series the first book was all about the man he used to be, or at least from her perspective. He keeps going on and on about how she betrayed him and how her family betrayed him. All of that going whilst his punishments continued. In this book we finally find out the betrayal only to be told she doesn’t remember it.

It’s a massive moral dilemma. Is a person who has no memories of doing something/ anything wrong still guilty? Or are you a different person without those memories and so innocent of the “crimes”?

I absolutely LOVED this! This is book 2 in the series and Dimitri and Penelope just cant seem to catch a break. They ade both so bdoken and hurt😭. He HATES her and doesn't know how to deal with loving her after what he thinks is her betrayal. There is much turmoil/hate/betrayal and sadness it tore my heart out. What's a good dark romance without our mmc being and utter Ahole and also completely obsessed. so many players in this book need a good throat punch and I can't wait to see them get if.

love the story but too much detail

The story is great. I want to hear more about this Seraphina. Who is she and how she falls into all of this? But there was just so much detailed information that I didn’t need to read! The book could be so much shorter than it is but she describes everything.

I’m not sure about this one. Honestly I’m might have skipped some paragraphs bc it was really really slow and repetitive.
I didn’t know it was a series but I’m hopeful about the next one. Maybe it won’t be as repetitive.
