Pieces Of Me

Rate this book
A mistake, a secret, and a betrayal.

Devon
I have two loves in my life—my best friend Molly and baseball. I didn’t realize I couldn’t have both. I thought she’d wait for me. I guess I was wrong. I feel like I’ve been betrayed by the two people who mean the most to me. Molly is supposed to be mine, but she’s getting married…to my brother.

Molly
One night changed my life. One secret bound me to a man I’m not in love with. I made a mistake. And now there are only secrets and sorrow. I hadn’t wanted to acknowledge that I’d forever be in love with my best friend. I’d never forget the look in Devon’s eyes. No apology can fix this. No forgiveness. I’ve lost the person I can’t live without.

"It should've always been us."~Devon💋

"All the pieces of me have always been yours."~Molly💋

What an emotional short story. That's right. Short but packed with so much upheaval and things that should have been said but weren't, was the name of the game. It was from lack of confidence and believing it was for the best to something most common for everyone... fear. Stop over-thinking kids.😂😂

Devon and Molly have been besties since they were kids, but now as young adults, their paths have suddenly parted with other plans and yes, sudden mistakes. I believe they were aware of their attraction, those feelings that have been brewing for years. Molly wants to be a doctor and Devon wants to go pro with baseball. They don't want to hold each other back from their career and ambitions. I get it. But if you love somebody that's not an excuse. Things are about to get very complicated and weird.

Molly, well, she gets involved with his older brother Matt. I know. That's off-putting. Matt breaks up with Sydney, longtime girlfriend, b/c she wasn't ready for marriage with him. Molly and Matt turn to each other for comfort, despite wanting other people. Everyone knows that Devon loves Molly. And yet...😳 That's raunchy. Too close. Too close.lol If Molly had to be with another man, why not a friend instead of a brother who looks like Devon?😨🫢😅 Yeppers!! That's my only note here. If it had been a guy with 2 sisters it would cause the same yuk feeling for me. Later, there's spice and steam.🥵😙🌋😙🥵

I enjoyed the story. It's written well. The emotions are there. Miscommunications and plenty of awkward drama. You should check it out. Great book cover. Shout out and RIP to Spunk.🐈 Happy reading.*•>§<•*💞💞💞💞

I received this ARC directly from the author, and boy was it a hard read!
Oh wow… Reading the blurb, I had a feeling what was happening, and I was right.

This was heartbreaking in so many ways… Molly is in love with Devon, and apparently, he’s in love with her.
But… and this is a big one.
Baseball is his first and only true love, so it seems like she’s a second choice. He admits, they see other people, but he expected her to wait for them to achieve their dreams first…

Instead, she’s engaged to his brother because of a mistake, and even then, it’s clear she’s the second choice there too! Frankly, I was disgusted with Matt, and he got out of everything easy…

I felt pretty emotional about this entire story - kudos to the author for being able to draw me into it so well, especially considering it was such a short read!

A short story about two best friends who can be with someone else while harboring feelings for each other. Everyone knows how they feel except themselves. If you like one brother, why not involved with the other, and after a short period of time, agree to marry, even though both would be doing it for the wrong reasons. Imagine having a best friend, who loves you also lusts for you from a young age without your knowing.
After all the turmoils, miscommunications, and not enough communications, they still have their HEA.

I prefer friends-to-lovers stories with fewer emotional traumas.

Wow, for such a short story, this was extremely well written to give you all the feels as you get to know the characters. I had to give it 5 stars for the emotional rollercoaster it took me on to get to a HEA. Plus I can always count on KyAnn for some great steam! Highly recommend!

I received an advanced copy of the book and am leaving an honest review.

My rating system:
5=will read again
4=recommend to everyone
3=recommend to anyone liking that particular writing style/trope
2=do not recommend
1=DNF
