Is That Mine? Or Is It Yours?

I didn't realize I was waiting for a new Adventure from T.S. Falk until Waves was released this week and I read it straight through the night. His story ideas are evolving faster than AI.

Waves is set in sunny Goa, India. It is a tropical island paradise, and at the beginning, life is slow and easy. Because this is a T.S. Falk story, that slowness abruptly ends, and the entire rest of the novel will leave you shaking in your boots.

Heroes of all shapes and sizes come out of the woodwork to help in crisis situations. Goa certainly faces a crisis, or rather a series of crises. The worst, and fortunately, the best in Humanity is highlighted during their struggle.

Central to the plot is a conflict of technologies. Unbeknownst to the Islanders, a next-level, reverse-engineered Defense system has been dropped off their coast by covert U.S. Naval forces. It is only discovered when it begins malfunctioning and generating massive Tsunamis and the local scientists try to solve the problem.

The side-by-side races to save lives and to figure out how to stop the destructive waves will keep you turning the pages all night long. The end is literally a race to the finish line. I arrived breathless from the excitement.

I still have a few of T.S. Falk's older books to finish reading. But I am happy to report that his writing is better than ever. I highly recommend WAVES, you won't regret it.

If you like women heroes that are absolutely perfect, if you like science that doesn't follow any logic, if you like do-gooders who overflow with virtue, this book is for you.
Now if you like nuance, cleverness, wit, then this book is not for you.

For example, a 600ft tsunami hits Goa and there are still buildings left standing. At first I thought it must have been a typo and that it really was a 60ft tsunami, but no, it gets repeated later. Does the author really have any idea what 600ft looks like?

Everyone in this book is morally superior, good looking, brillant and single. It's hilarious when the female protagonist is rescued by the token hero rescuer. One would think that he'd immediately get back to save more people. But no, she starts flirting with him and wasting his time and he just entertains her, right in the middle of a crisis.

Now there comes a time when a pilot (a female of course) is offered a dangerous mission to fly some place but there might not be enough fuel to get back. Anyone in their right mind would simply say: are you out of your mind, can't you simply radio in another heli with a full tank from a non-impacted area? But no, apparently her heli is the only one on earth and sure let's just fly this suicide mission with two other women scientists, no problem. This feels like the women-only Ghostbusters remake.

The whole thing is laughable, I've been a long time followers of TS Falk, and appreciated their earlier works but their writing is evolving away from my taste. It's full of scientific non-sense, Mary Sues, and the banter is the kind you hear on the Hallmark channel, e.g. bland.

I am suspecting the mysterious TS Falk might be a woman writer given how much time they spend describing the women's clothing but never bother to mention the men's clothing. But anyway, that's not really important, I think I am done with this author.

A wet and wild ride!

Waves: A Sci-fi Adventure is about a geologist with a freshly earned doctorate in geology who goes to Goa, India, to visit a close friend to celebrate achieving her degree, a rescue worker and a group of scientists who all find themselves at the wrong place at the right time to react to tsunamis which devastate the region. The characters are likeable and self sacrificing, dialog that fits the action, pacing that matches the plot and clear descriptions of the action, environments and destruction. This is a highly enjoyable read that fans of survival thrillers, disaster thrillers and sci-fi thrillers with original concepts behind them! 5/5 stars for this fast and furious ride!

Stuff of Nightmares

I started this book in the evening, and got far enough for it to cause nightmares. Alien tech? No, I don't believe in aliens. We all know what happens when a superior power meets an inferior one. So no, I don't believe in aliens visiting earth.

Whatever this was, and I don't like spoilers, it really was the stuff of nightmares. Read it at your own discretion.

SUPERB!!!

I always had a big fan of the Earth science. Since I learn to read.
So, this novel dedicated to tsunamis is so close to my heart that many times through it I had to pic out a handkerchief the size of a king size sheet due to the terrible effects, the destruction, and the lose of lives.
Also, the rescue teams that tried to save as many people as they could, minding their human beings instead of their race, sex or age.
THANK YOU MR. FALK.

A stand alone book, wonderful!

I like Mr Falks writing, I love learning a bit of physics and such. Wish this had been a bit less realistic, but its very well written. Definitely worth the read.

Another Amazing Winner

I have been reading T. S Falk for years. Each one, I always name it his best ever.
But having just downloaded the next on the series, I'm sure that Waves wasn't his best ever...

Entertaining thriller

Dream vacation turns into nightmare as tsunami’s hit the coast of India. But the real question is what’s causing them? Is it ancient tech or something more sinister?

Waves

This is an interesting book. There is a lot of action, especially connected with saving people in disasters. The crazy thing about these disasters is that they are man made. It takes a while to figure that out.

Masterful

A wonderful believable story. Adds to the fact there is always someone out there to do as he pleases regardless if it is right or wrong however they will always do wrong. They will always try to play God.

Another Good Thriller By this Author

I enjoyed this. I couldn't read the last Ashra and Doc one but this one hit the spot. A little far fetched but still good fun. Shame about the last death though. I like a happy ending.
