When Jenna meets Eric in person at Button Mashers, she’s sure he can see right through her. What she doesn’t know is that she’s already met him online too. As their friendship grows, she starts to Can she trust Eric with the truth? Or will her past—and his secret—ruin everything she’s fought for?
Button Mashers is a story about secret identities and finding the courage to be seen for who you really are. It’s a sweet romance for fans of gaming, clean love stories, and happily ever afters.
Button Mashers is an amazing book about the world of competitive gaming, friendship, and personal growth. I found the characters really easy to relate to. The pacing is fast, keeping you hooked from the very first page and the writing is easy to follow, even if you're not a hardcore gamer. Overall, Button Mashers is a must read for any fan of gaming or if you just want a good story about friendship and overcoming obstacles.
This book was so fun. I’ve read novels with heavy gaming themes in the past, but the pitfall so many fall into is getting too in the weeds with allusions to games and gaming/pop culture. This book didn’t do that. There were enough connections to feel “in” on the references, but not so much that you get lost in them. I loved the story from the very start. It’s easy to follow, has good character development, and leaves you at the end of each chapter wanting to know what happens next. This is a strong debut novel.
A fantastic debut novel with lovable characters, great pacing, and raw, authentic emotion! I really felt immersed in this story and found myself relating to both Jenna and Eric’s battles with anxiety and self-doubt and their longing for someone to “see” them. I definitely recommend this book to lovers of romance, gaming, and happy endings!
Cute debut novel! Keep writing, Katelyn!! The gaming descriptions were fun, but there was a lot of detail that I didn't understand. I don't enjoy miscommunication tropes so that whole thing wasn't for me. Shout-out to the Indy area for its roundabouts, that passage was hilarious to read as a Hoosier that lived and played in that area. 😂
Button Mashers was a wonderful read! This book is fast paced and easy to read. I honestly wish I had a button mashers near me. The relationships in this book had great build, they worked through some hard things that are real life struggles. I can’t wait to read her next book!
