Now happily dating, 27-year-old Masamune Hanzawa takes his boyfriend, 19-year-old Natsuki, on a birthday trip, but he unfortunately spends the whole time worrying he hasn’t done enough. When they run into Natsuki’s mom at the train station, she thanks Masamune for taking care of her husband and son. Inspired, they decide to come out to Natsuki’s parents about their relationship. But in a world where same-sex relationships face societal resistance, how will Natsuki’s family react? As love meets uncertainty, Masamune and Natsuki must navigate uncharted waters together.
This volume gave me exactly what I needed from it. These two are both still so adorable and awkward, but here you can really see how devoted they both are to each other. I'm legitimately sad there are no more chapters, but it all wraps up very sweetly.
A cute, low-stakes high-warm-fuzzies duology ~ I love how earnest Natsuki is and how conscious & considerate they both are of each other. They’re very, very sweet together and their dates were adorable. Also loved his parents & how that all turned out 🥰 My only complaint is that I do wish we had gotten a little more fleshed out worldbuilding/story for Natsuki outside of just his family, he kinda spawns in and out when he’s not dealing with Masamune.
I feel like this volume was a bit short but I like how happy everything was. While I still don’t like the age difference between them, I did find Natsuki and Masamune’s dynamic very adorable and (mostly) wholesome. Overall, this was a very quick and cute little series to read.
The pacing in this (final?) volume was kind of off. It's still very cute, and I enjoy them a lot as a couple, but I was hoping for something with a bit more substance. Everything just went incredibly smoothly at all times, which made it a tiny bit bland. (Funny, for a series about meals as a metaphor for love.)
The cuts between scenes were pretty choppy, like we were rushing through different stages of the relationship. Masamune realizes he's missed Natsuki's birthday, so the next page they're planning a trip, then the next page they're strawberry picking on the trip, then they zoom through their onsen room and a theme park and then they're back on the train home and run into Natsuki's mother...
This all could've been an incredibly lovely series if it'd just been padded out with a bit more in the way of an actual story. The way everything just kind of happens to them, with no conflict, no big discussions, no friction from any external acceptance, makes their relationship feel like it doesn't have quite as much depth as it should.
I was really expecting something to happen when Masamune "met" Natsuki's parents as his boyfriend. But after a brief surprise, they were totally cool with it. No mention of the age gap or the fact that Masamune is dating his boss's son, or anything. Just a chill dinner together with an invitation to another visit.
Mildly disappointing but still sweet and with attractive enough art and character designs that I still enjoyed it.
I really liked this, very much fluffy and cute BL. I like the art and they are so sweet and respectful of one another.
I just didn't feel like the ending was very ending-ish. It felt like we just left the story. The bonus chapter helped make it feel more like an end but I crave the finality of it all. I want to read more by this author.
I think if this had a few more volumes i would have been able to get a bit more invested or attached. but as it stands i read the full series in 20 minutes and it was a bit of a nothing burger (ha).
I read this volume almost immediately after finishing volume 1 and this was such a cute duology, its very wholesome and fast paced. These are just two kind of nerdy guys who are very nervous around each other but they like each other so much. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a quick and cute romance manga, that is also not a long series.
