9 books13 followersJ.D. Goff was Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and grew up in Colorado. An avid outdoors man, he spends a lot of time camping and working with the Boy Scouts.
An inattentive and frequently truant student, nonetheless, he was and is an avid reader. Even as a boy, setting off to school with a book in hand invariably meant he would stop at a park along the way and spend the day immersed in the worlds of Jack London, Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein, to name a few.
It was rare when he made it to the classroom. Nor was his reading limited to fiction. At an early age, he fell in love with the works of Shakespeare and Poe, and read books on physics, history, language, and philosophy. J.D.’s love of learning has never stopped. A bit of autodidact, he is versed in several subjects.
Though he enjoyed some success in the non-fiction market, he always wanted to be a novelist and decided to see if he had what it took to write a full length fantasy novel. Initially intended to be an exercise and a learning the process, the book he wrote ended up as the first book in the Sommerstone Chronicles, The Rune that Binds.
Though traditional publishers like DAW expressed an interest in the book, there were creative differences, and he decided to self publishing on Amazon in 2011.
The book enjoyed a modicum of success, selling several thousand copies, and sitting, for a time, in Amazon’s top 100 list of Dark Fantasy novels.
After a family tragedy in 2016, he took a hiatus from writing to support his family and deal with the trauma that resulted. Now, ten years later, he has released his second book, The Undying Night, the official sequel to The Rune that Binds, and the second book in the Sommerstone Chronicles, to be followed by The Whisper of God, and The Rune of Rending.
Current works under development are, A Far Distant Home, Believe, and the Deathsong Saga.
The author writes under the name Jonathan Goff as well, but his works are primarily published under J.D. Goff, to distinguish himself from the creator of the Spawn comic series. He is a member of the SFWA (Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America).
