I thoroughly enjoyed the war of the rose series and was pleasantly surprised to see there was a new installment, if not a continuation of the story. There were definitely intersections there, but also new characters and some new twists.

I enjoyed the story, and there was a lot crammed into a single book, which was obviously less textured and deep than the original series. Going from a wife and mother to.....well, thats for your to find out!.........meant that you definitely had to suspend belief more than normal.

More of a (dark) fun adventure than the deeper original story, but worth a read. Probably more towards 3.5 stars than 4.

A return to form! Great read!

Peter McLean created a bloody, grim, fascinating world with his Rose Throne series and it was a pleasure to dive back in. Hoping for more!
