Creepy crawlies, dark shadows, hideous monsters secreted under your bed... Bad Things is a collection of paranormal stories that will make your skin crawl and heart race. Do you sleep with the light on? Maybe you should... They come at night When the moon grows dark To steal your treasures And weaken your heart An empty bed Is all that remains If the Bad Things decide To visit again Mommies take care Watch your young as they slumber For babies and children The Bad Things do hunger Check closets and attics And under all beds If the Bad Things come calling You’ll wish you were dead.
Willow Cross resides in Arkansas with her husband, two children still young enough to live at home, an enormous cat named Bitsy, and a scaredy-cat dog named Tank. Her home has been known to host the occasional ghost, and a few of her friends profess to be witches. Although she dearly loves Vampires and Werewolves, they are never invited for dinner.
You better watch out for the bad things when they come out to play!
5 Star!!!!! Holy $#!+ Willow scared the bejeeezus out of me like 10 times!!!!! I really love that it all flowed into another building up for the next story. It didn't feel like some collections where each story is completely different from the others. And I love the sci-fi twist thrown in with the other worlds & realms, & the Egyptian "guardian" addition was screaming at my inner historian to come out & play. What a real reading treat! It's been awhile since I read a really scary story that wasn't filled with gore & violence. Thanks, Willow!! <3 And btw that whole 13 Graves felt soooooo real! I was practically running through the field with them!! Aaaaaaaarghhhh!
I listened to this on Audible. I liked the ghost story feel of the beginning, I wish it would have kept along them lines. This is a great quick read to get you into the Fall spirit. It got me excited for more thrillers.
This is a perfect scary read for this time of year. Willow Cross is quite a spooky storyteller. I truly enjoyed reading this little bundle of terrifying tales. I also liked how some of the stories either seemingly fed into each other or were directly connected. Room for one More and Cursed were very creepy and Monster in My Room scared the crap out of me. I am totally going to have problems going to bed now ha! :)
Cross has a very strong skill of leaving a lot of the fear factor to your own imagination. She builds this foundation for terror but doesn't necessarily give you all the nitty gritty details which is brilliant because the unknown is always way worse in an individual's mind then what can be seen.
I also loved the varying aspects of terror in the stories. We had ghosts, monsters, serial killers, possible curses, sci-fi creatures and even Egyptian mythology all in the mix. Great stories to fill your countdown to Halloween and to get you in the spooky spirit or if you are just looking for some chills & thrills this is the anthology for you.
I received this book as part of a blog tour to give an honest review.
I have to say these were some awesome stories being told. To me they weren't scary but for those that are easily scared I would say read with your feet pulled up on the couch and let it be day light. I really how each story flowed into the next. I think teens would really enjoy this as it is perfect to read at night with your friends. I really enjoyed the poem that Willow put into the story it was awesome!! If you like ghost stories and the paranormal give this book a try it is short and to the point of what is being told. You are not left hanging at all.
Creepy, crawlies, dark shadows, and hideous monsters in the cemetery, in your house, and possibly under your bed..
A fabulous read that will keep you wanting to read with the lights on and don't read before bed. The author has done a remarkable job with this set of spooky stories and it a great read for Halloween.
