Into the Sun is the accompanying novella for Jensen, the fourth book in the Sovereign Mountain Series. It follows Jensen and Della years after their marriage and provides a glimpse into their family and future in Montana.
This novella must be read after completing Jensen, but is not necessary to reading Jensen and Della's full story.
Raya Morris Edwards is the author of the Sovereign Mountain Series, the Welsh Kings Trilogy, and more! She lives near the mountains, but never close enough. When not writing, she's probably spending time with her family and dogs somewhere in the hills or traveling in the Blue Ridges.
Audiobook Review: Into the Sun — Sovereign Mountain Novella
I got this audiobook from NetGalley, and listen… I did not realize these novellas were on audio. Now I’m about to go back and see if the whole Sovereign Mountain series is hiding in audiobook form because this format? Perfect.
Into the Sun drops us back in with Jensen and Della, years after the original books — kids grown, lives shifting, everyone stepping into new chapters whether they’re ready or not. And honestly, seeing them later in life felt like catching up with friends who’ve lived a whole lot of life since you last saw them.
What I loved most is how this novella leans into the truth that even good change can feel uncomfortable. You can love your people deeply and still struggle with the quiet, the transitions, the “what now.” It’s tender and real in a way that sneaks up on you.
And let’s be clear: Jensen and Della are still spicy. Still choosing each other. Still looking at each other like the love never dimmed. It gave me that same goofy, soft feeling I get when my husband and I lock eyes while the kids are playing on the floor — like, “Yep. We built this.”
The main series is rich and intricate, but these novellas bring a lighter, more intimate vibe that I’m genuinely loving. Warm, grown, and full of heart.
A beautiful reminder that love over 40, over 50, and beyond is still powerful, still passionate, and absolutely worth reading about.
Love, love, love these novellas! They are just the little extra on top like sprinkles on ice cream! It makes you really feel good and whole after each couples story! Also love how Raya is bringing everyone together still as time progresses. With this one I have to say I really want Landis story. Hoping Raya set it up for that potential one day.
First things first , I listened to the audiobook for this and the narration was sooooooo good. Huge shoutout to Christian Leatherman and Hannah Chiclana because they absolutely nailed it. The voices, the emotion, the way they brought Jensen and Della to life… chef’s kiss.
This novella drops us back into the world of the Sovereign Mountain Series years after the events of Jensen. The kids are grown, life is shifting, and everyone is stepping into new stages whether they’re fully ready for it or not.
And honestly? It felt like catching up with old friends you haven’t seen in years.
I love when a series gives you that little glimpse into the “after”. The life that happens once the big romance arc is over.
Jensen and Della aren’t in the dramatic whirlwind anymore. They’re in the real part of life: change, transitions, and figuring out what the next chapter looks like. What I loved was how tender and honest this novella felt.
It’s soft, reflective, and quietly emotional in a way that kind of sneaks up on you. If you’ve read Jensen, this is a lovely little return to these characters and their world. Not necessary for their story, but definitely a nice bonus for anyone who wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet.
🎧 Full transparency, this was my first touch with this writer and series. I had no idea what I was going into, but I’ve been in the mood for short reads lately, so this spicy little piece sounded right up my alley.
What I liked: - Slice-of-life kind of story showing a small piece of a family’s life, with focus on the main couple. I liked their dynamic, you really feel like you’re watching just a tiny little vignette of real people’s lives. - The spice was quite hot and pretty well done. There is a bit of kink mixed in, but I have to admit, the whole time I was reading this novella, I had “good for you two, still doing it like bunnies after all these years” stuck in my head, and it made me giggle every time.
What I didn’t like: - The narration was killing me. The characters are obviously supposed to have an accent. The male narrator handled it fine in my opinion. I could still tell he was putting it on for the performance, but it didn’t distract me. The female narrator really grated on my nerves. Her accent sounded extremely fake, and it annoyed me at times. I would personally prefer no accent over a bad one, even though it would be a less accurate interpretation of the book itself.
ALC via NetGalley I am leaving this review voluntarily
Into the Sun is the perfect accompanying novella that adds just that little bit more to Jensen and Della's story. With grown kids and a grandchild on the way these two are just as in love and passionate as they were throughout their entire story and I loved this extra little piece of their story.
It also sets the stage for a future series for the children and I am very excited to see how that proceeds.
On audio, Hannah Chiclano and Christian Leatherman did a fantastic job. They showed that despite being older and in an established relationship, these two still had a very passionate and sexy relationship with each other. There were small bits of humor and a deep connection that the narrators perfectly brought to life.
Thank you to Raya Morris Edwards & Dreamscape Media for the ALC.
What a beautiful treat! Raya Morris Edwards always delivers with these follow-up novellas, and this is my most favourite one yet. Into the Sun is the perfect glimpse into Jensen and Della’s thriving future. If you loved the original story, this will give you that wonderful sense of completion and satisfaction.
It’s clear their love is stronger than ever, and their chemistry? Even more potent. For those wondering about the spice, it’s perfectly hot—Raya did not hold back! This novella proves that Jensen and Della are absolutely endgame, and their bond is still electrifying. A highly recommended, quick read to warm the soul.
Loved this short story showing where Jensen & Della’s life is with their family. Loved seeing Landis and the struggles he was facing of going back East towards Kentucky where is initially was from. That his parents decide to give him the OK that will hopefully help him find his way just like Jensen. Refreshing to see that they become grandparents from their eldest daughter Delia and that their youngest Julie-Mae is getting engaged to Gage who is Deacon and Freyas son. Love that in each book the author Raya Morris Edward’s gives us an insight of the future and shows us how the friendship of the characters from this series holds fast and intertwine.
I would like to thank Netgalley and the Publisher for an ARCs copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
So at the beginning i thought this would be just porn but the emotional moments at the end pleasantly surprised me. I ended up enjoying it far more than i excepted.
The narration in this book was FANTASTIC. The acting choice at the end of the novella was amazing and so touching.
I could really feel the love that the main couple has for their kids as well as each other and its really cute how the writer showed that they are still just as playful as they were when they were young.
First of all, I needed a cold shower after the first few minutes of this audiobook because Della and Jensen….hot, hot, hot! I appreciated the next stages in the life that the characters were seemingly in after the original books in the series, which I honestly haven’t read yet but am now eager to see how all of these characters got to this point. It seems like there is a lot of history and the subgenre is right up my alley - some western, some suspense. I will definitely be diving into the earlier books in the series but this book can be absolutely be read/listened to (as I did!) as a standalone.
Thank you to NetGalley for the audiobook copy! All opinions are my own.
This was a fun little snack and glimpse back into Jensen and Della's life. I love the Raya Morris Edwards mini novellas after the storyline because I am truly never ready to let go of these characters when the book ends. I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook and enjoyed the performance. Della's narrator has a very twangy voice which I loved but may not be for everyone. I love Landis to death and am hopeful all of these novellas mean we will get the storylines for the children of Sovereign Mountain.
If your not on the Sovereign Mountain train…What are you waiting for!!!
Just when I think I couldn’t love Jensen and Delia any more, Raya Morris Edwards hits me with this jem, it ties up their story so well. I’m not gonna lie I cried for at least 50% of it, happy tears of course. I also find so many parallels with this book and my life, it’s kinda crazy. This story will stay with me for a long time. ,
Every extended epilogue novella from this series has been amazing! This one has me wanting to know more about the Childress family. I am very much hoping for a second-generation series, it also shows how Landis even though Jensen treated him like a son he still has identity issues. Perfect teaser making you want more.
I really enjoy these novellas that go along with the book! You get to see how their lives are going later on and hear about their kids all grown up and having families of their own! And lets be honest getting to read about how Jensen and Della are still all over each other any chance they get is so good! 🥵😏 I loved Jensen and Dellas story! 🥰
These novella are considered treats! More Deacon and Freya obsession. Thor passion and loved only got stronger. Their boys are raised to be good people and they way they are making sure their family is happy and not anything like the both endured as children, is so heartwarming 🥹.
For me if it has Raya’s name on it, I’m reading it !
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This was a super spicy novella! There was so much spicy packed into such a short novel. The characters were great and I loved the dynamics of this family. This was a short and decent romance novel. I really enjoy this mountain man series.
The way Raya makes these novellas so forward in time but so perfectly fitting never fails to amaze me. Jensen and Della have settled deep into my soul with their story of over coming fear, emotions and finding that all consuming love.
The perfect glimpse into Della and Jensen's future! Love how Soverign Mountain is spawning couples from previous main characters and some of them show up for a visit to make you smile and swoon at their HEA!
I didn’t know I needed this fast forward of Jensen but daaaaaaamn I loved it. You could absolutely tell Jensen and Della were only stronger and I ate up every minute. And goddamn they were so hott from the first page. But I loved their kids, and now I need Landis’ story 🥹
I'm just gonna keep the same review for all 4 of the novellas.
It was super nice and fun to see all the characters at different points in their lives and how they progressed, but also like no time had passed? Overall I liked catching up with the characters
This was a perfect extension of Jensen! I love watching the couples grow old after raising their family and how their kids thrive. I hope we get some legacy books with the kiddos all grown and finding their own forevers!
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape for the ALC!
I absolutely adored this novella. I love that we get to see Jensen and Della’s life 20 years later. It’s so sweet and super spicy. The narrators are perfect for these characters and really do an amazing job!
Jensen and Dellas novella was 5 ⭐. Love that we can find out what happens years down the line and get to learn a bit about their lives and their kids. Lovely quick light reading to end the perfect story.
