I’ve been betrayed, soul-bonded, blessed with unruly, confusing, chaotic powers, and I may have multiple boyfriends—that about sums up my life. Speaking of my Valtrue, they’re ready to lose their minds over the fact that the Beginning God, who wants to rule the realm on his own, has summoned us.
I can’t lie…I’m not faring any better.
The God of Obliteration has a task for us—something that reeks of danger and secrets—and refusing him isn’t an option. The consequence of walking away or even failing is far too high. I don’t know what truths we’ll uncover throughout this journey or where it’s going to lead us. But what I do know is, a short time ago, I would’ve sworn to you I hated the gods.
All of them.
Now, surrounded by my Valtrue and my small circle of godly friends that I trust, one thing is clear…
I need this life we’ve started to build together. I don’t want to face my struggles alone anymore. Whatever comes next, I’m facing it with them at my side. Together, we can figure this out.
What could possibly go wrong?

Willa Rae is a debut indie author trying to bring the magical and nonmagical, wild, crazy, and questionable stories she creates in her mind to you. Her list of WIP’s is a mile long which fuels her coffee, reading, and fictional men addiction.
So stay tuned and join Willa on her journey as she explores her life as a romance author!
3.5 stars. I can't round this one up because of the lack of plot progression. I was overall a bit disappointed by this book. It was slow to progress and confusing.
In her other series, I thought this author did a great job of including innovative plot twists and important plot progressions throughout her books to keep them all interesting and entertaining. I think this book could have been half the length and probably just added onto the 1st or upcoming 3rd book.
My main issues: - The plot was slow. There were 2-3 interesting scenes, otherwise nothing really happened and we got so little new info. However, the info was teased constantly- something I kind of despise in romamntasy books. Either tell me the info or don't, stop dangling it like a carrot for 100 pages. The overall plot is very similar to her other series. That isn't the biggest deal, but it does feel repetitive.
- The magic and world are incredible confusing. I had this issue with book 1 too. EVERYTHING has a name starting with V or has the word God in its name. I constantly forget what everything is because the names all sound the same. The world is so confusing. I have no idea what anyone is talking about in some scenes. This is a combo of some aspects just not being described well and of the author trying to keep some info a secret for later reveals.
- The FMC really drove me a bit crazy in this one. The amount of times she was "overwhelmed" got super old and annoying. Multiple times we as the reader, had to wait for important plot information because the FMC was overwhelmed and didn't want to hear it yet. That excuse can be used once and then it just feels like a plot manipulation tactic and not a natural progression.
I still like the MMCs, they are all quite different from each other and have clear personalities. I'm going to keep reading the series because they are super easy to read and mostly enjoyable. I hope book 3 is a bit better paced.
This sequel delivers on every level — deeper characters, richer worldbuilding, and higher emotional stakes.
This book is just as amazing as the first, if not better. You really get to see how much the characters have grown, and I loved that their development felt personal rather than rushed or forced. Everyone learns and changes at their own pace, which made the character arcs feel natural and believable.
The worldbuilding is incredibly detailed, with rich lore and a unique magic system that adds so much depth to the story. It never overshadows the romance but instead enhances it. One of my favorite aspects was how much care was given to the secondary characters — they felt like fully realized individuals with their own stories, not just background filler.
The plot also deepens in a way that feels smooth and organic, even as the world continues to expand. And that cliffhanger?! I was so immersed that I didn’t even realize I was nearing the end until it hit. Safe to say, I’ll be counting down until the next book.
All in all, that ending alone guarantees I’ll be thinking about this story long after I’ve turned the last page.
Wow wow wow, so we continued with the HP, threw in Pirates of the Caribbean, while still being wholly itself.
The Beginning Gods, are truly the worst. How interesting that every story about gods makes them so evil.
I continue to love Thayla, Amick, Creed, Kyzen and Riven. I loved getting more of their stories and getting more from Lambrit, Rose, Yemi and Havar!!
If I don’t get some justice in the forms of severe pain for Mellcom and Jeremiah soon, so help me! They’re evil and vile and I want comeuppance.
We did get some enlightenment on Thayla’s parents which was so necessary.
I still wish I had a hierarchy on the gods. The Beginning Gods v Domain Gods v becoming gods v ungodly v nonmagical mortals -> because truly what’s going on here and where do the boys fall in?!
The first book was amazing and this one was just as good. It is getting a little soppy - I feel authors struggle to keep real life tension within relationships once established and it was looking good but it is starting to become a bit bland and cliche “lovey-dovey” but I am here for the storyline even if it does become a bit meh within the harem.
There is some rushed sub plot stuff happening, and kind of thrown in just to have things “link” later or to over explain in dialogue instead of world build but it has been done well so I’m not too upset about it. This is what my issue was with the source of elementa but this isn’t quite as bad - am excited for the next, preordered which I only really do if I am super excited about the series!
This book is just as amazing as the first one. You get to see much more character growth from all characters. I love that the growth is tailored to each individual person as everyone does growth and learn at there own pace. The plot also thickens in this book but with a really natural flow even as the world building continues all around you. That cliffhanger is brutal and I did not even see it coming because I was so immersed in the story I did not realize I was that close to the end of the book.
She did it again, even I'm alittle upset I have to wait for April to read the rest. The way she writes is like pulling me in to a world where I am following the story as a shadow that nobody sees. I can't wait to see what happens next, where Riven will go (he reminds me of Loki) and where this story will end and how. And of course get to meet Candyman again.
This book was absolute magic! Willa Rae has a way about writing that just draws you in and makes you lose time. I loved the recap at the beginning, more authors should definitely think about doing that in their series. But most of all I absolutely loved the story and I was gutted when I realised I was coming towards the end of the book. I would highly recommend reading this book and if you haven’t already check out Willa Rae’s other series.
Willa Rae creates amazing worlds that I just need to visit. Her ability to take us on a journey that feels organic as we grow the characters. I feel silly worrying that this series would feel too close to her Elementra series, but she creates an amazing representation of what a FMC needs to be to rise above in these words. I think Willow and Thayla would be fast friends. Very impatiently awaiting for the next installment.
Interesting read, good mix of story and steam. I just hate how similar the names are to each other. Like some peoples names are similar to creatures as well as the names of the world and beings. It gets so convoluted and I had a hell of a time keeping up with some of it. Otherwise I’m still excited for book three. I like thayla and the dynamics between her and her guys. Amick is still my favorite
This book had me PULLED IN. I don’t get to say that often about what I read but I meant it. No complaints except that I need more. So so so much more. There are scenes that have me in the edge of my seat type shi and scenes that have me squealing like a fool. I didn’t quite understand the last few pages but otherwise, phenomenal work. Great job, thank you.
Each book hooks you right in and, just when I think it can't get better, it does. Well developed characters and incredible world building. As much as I want to take my time and savor it I just couldn't put it down.
Like its predecessor this book was absolutely amazing, it sucks you into this story and refuses to let you go. Of course. The cliffhanger leaves you craving more. Four months to go!!
I am all in for this series ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ The FMC is cool ming into her own The MMC's are truly GODS The side characters are really well balanced The world's are filling Excellent CLIFF Hanger April can not come soon enough !
I thought I got past it in the first book, but I cannot stand how often the fmc "freaks out." Like, just get on with it already! The story itself was good though and I'm looking forward to the third book to be released.
