Aliens disguised as pets invaded Earth and turned all adults into their pet-gushy servants. But Brenna and a team of kids found the aliens’ weakness and defeated them. Now her world is safe.
Except it isn’t.
Because Brenna sees them again. The aliens! But they aren’t ‘back.’ Some never left. Could they be plotting to take over the world again? Or do they actually ‘mean no harm’ as they claim. Either way, Brenna needs help. Now! Before it’s too late. But the adults call the invasion “The Forgotten” week, explaining away the memory loss and weirdness with sciency lies. Even Brenna’s parents don’t believe her and look at their daughter with worried frowns and poor-baby eyes. And the kids are either all hero-worshipy toward Brenna or avoid her like she’s a mega weird disease. And a top-secret agency devoted to ‘negating’ the aliens is creepy stalking her.
Only Baxter believes her. Best friends are like that. Now it’s two against all of ‘them.’ Again. Trying to protect the world. Again.
So unfair. _______________ PETDEMONIUM 2: THE FORGOTTEN is a middle grade book for kids ages 8 and up. The second book in a series of two, it continues the science fiction adventures of Brenna and Baxter and the aliens on Earth who disguise themselves as pets. Fast-paced and action packed, readers will enjoy revisiting characters from book one plus a few additional twists.
Petdemonium 2 is a very satisfying sequel to the first Petdemonium. I loved how Brenna and Baxter must form more nuanced opinions of book one's villains, the Ahquill aliens. Goodnight's story is fun and fast paced, while also having a great theme: that we shouldn't pass judgement on an entire group because of the negative actions of some. Goodnight takes her young character's emotions seriously, and her thoughtful writing makes them feel believable and real. Petdemonium 2 is perfect for middle grade readers who love pets and sci-fi stories.
A fun and fascinating sequel to PETDEMONIUM: A SCI-FI ADVENTURE. In this new book, Brenna discovers some of the aliens never left. Now she is once again faced with trying to make things right.
