From USA Today bestselling indie author Chelsea Curto comes an academic rivals-to-lovers romance about storm-chasing meteorologists during hurricane season in Florida—perfect for fans of Ali Hazelwood and B.K. Borison.
Nothing can rain on Quincy Monroe’s parade. She’s a woman-in-STEM with a PhD in atmospheric sciences, the host of a successful online weather show, and has one million followers on her meteorology Instagram.
Quincy has spent endless hours forging her path in this male-dominated field, becoming one of the best in the industry. And with a new job opportunity, nothing can derail her success. Except for the ill-timed arrival of Sebastian Dunn.
Sebastian is her best friend’s brother, her long-suffering academic and professional rival, and a flashy TV weatherman from New York City that everyone swoons over. Everyone but Quincy.
Over a scorching Florida summer and record-breaking hurricane season, Sebastian and Quincy are forced into close proximity. Setting aside their grudges to chase storms and stay alive is one thing, but can they weather the inevitable collision of their hearts?
Chelsea is a flight attendant and romance author who writes fun, fresh and flirty love stories with plenty of spice. When she's not making fictional characters banter for twenty chapters before they finally kiss or serving chicken or pasta on an airplane, you can find her trying to pet as many dogs as she can.
✶ in stormy weather౨ৎ 4 stars BRING BACK DOWN BAD MEN BEGGING FOR THEIR BADASS WOMEN 😻😍💞 ⤿ in stormy weather follows Sebastian and Quincy, childhood rivals who coincidentally are in the same field, meterology. they reunite after a while and start competing again - but this time, who can get better footage of storms for their respected jobs. ⟡ i enjoyed this book so, so much 😩 a woman in STEM and a man that will bown down for her will ALWAYS get me.
the characters ꩜。⋆.
⊹ Quincy monroe ᝰ⋆ she was my favorite part of the book - or more specifically, her brain and fierce personality. this might be the first time where i actually think a woman in STEM was written correctly and done justice. continuously throughout the book, she shocked me with how well she knew her job, how passionate she was about it, and how confidently she corrected the men in her field with her knowledge. i’m still in awe, i don’t even know how to put my thoughts into words because she was just amazing — i feel like i’ve learned so many things about the meterology field just from her/this book alone. bottom line: more “women in STEM” books should be written like THIS!!
⊹ Sebastian dunn ᝰ⋆ BRING BACK PATHETIC MEN!! 💫 i adored him so much; he was the sweetest and most considerate man. i loved how he defended her in front of powerful men in their field even if he had to sacrifice something himself — that made me melt. the way he made her feel worthy and performed so many acts of service had ME on my knees for him.
༄˖ the relationship. their dynamic was impeccable!! i loved how their personalities fit each other so well and despite them being in the same field, there was no animosity at all. quincy, as a woman in STEM, felt like she constantly had to prove the men in her field wrong — and to do this, she had to chase extremely dangerous storms, and instead of sebastian forcing her to stop, he ran along with her at every step and understood. Quincy and Sebastian are the couple you see at a family reunion and are instantly jealous of.
𖧷˖ ── overall, i had such a wonderful time with this. i binged this in less than 5 hours and i do not regret a single moment of it. seeing two people who so clearly love each other in every single circumstance the world can throw at them was deeply endearing and such a pleasure to read about. go pick this book up when it comes out on july 16th!!
⛈️ ⊹ thank you so much to netgalley, atria, and Chelsea curto for the ARC of this book. i’m deeply appreciative!

Thank you so much to NetGalley, publisher Atria Books/Simon & Schuster, and author Chelsea Curto for an ARC of In Stormy Weather. Publication date is July 16, 2026 and you DO NOT want to miss this one! I already know I’ll be buying a final copy when it’s out so I can annotate and share all of my favorite quotes ♥️☔️
✨FIVE STARS ✨
I mentioned this in my pre-read, but once upon a time I wanted to be a meteorologist and storm chaser (before I realized just how much math was involved 😅), so this book immediately drew me in. Add a romcom on top of that? Say less. In Stormy Weather is PERFECT for readers who love enemies to (friends?) to lovers, banter that will make you laugh out loud, and moments that will make your heart melt.
Quincy Monroe is our FMC and I absolutely LOVED her. She’s powerful, intelligent, funny, and so caring to the people she loves. She’s passionate about challenging gender norms in STEM (and in careers in general), and she does not hesitate to call out misogyny when she sees it. Watching her stand her ground, advocate for herself, and still allow herself to be vulnerable was so empowering.
And speaking of calling out misogyny… enter MR. SEBASTIAN FREAKING DUNN. New book boyfriend alert!!! 🚨 Sebastian is witty, hilarious, deeply caring, and completely obsessed with Quincy in the best way. Seeing all of their moments together was *chefs kiss* especially their banter 😂🥰
Learning why Sebastian got into weather, seeing his passion, and watching how hard he fights for Quincy (especially against the patriarchy) made me love him even more. We love a man who listens, supports, and shows up 👏💞
This book is full of adventure in the most romcom way possible. You’ll learn about tornadoes, hurricanes, storm chasing, and meteorology, but also about love, fear, friendship, and what it means to truly be seen by someone. There are some spicy chapters, but they’re easy to skim and you won’t miss anything essential to the story.
I am desperately hoping this becomes a series because I NEED more time with the side characters… Harlow, Nate, Mia, Cooper… I’m not done with them yet.
If you love STEM romcoms with heart, humor, passion, anti misogynistic vibes, and tension, this one belongs on your TBR immediately ☔️♥️

Pre-read: thank you so much to NetGalley, publisher Atria Books/Simon & Schuster, and author Chelsea Curto for the ARC in exchange for an honest review 🖤 fun fact I wanted to be a meteorologist/storm chaser when I was younger and then I took meteorology class in college and was like NOPE TOO MUCH MATH 😂😅
reading another arc with ivy ml 🧸💞 we’re truly both excited for this one because of the fan art we saw on instagram 🤩 also because this a woman in stem type of book 🙈🫶🏼 as someone who’s working in a male dominated industry, i just love this type of book because of how it breaks down barriers and prove that women are able as well!! ✨🥹 wish us luck for this one, y’all ☔️⛈️
sebastian dunn is one of the greenest green flag mmcs i’ve ever read. literally, a pocket full of sunshine 😉
i think i now have a niche for weather romcoms, which never in a million years did i think would ever be my niche, and i am absolutely obsessed.
this was such an accessibly informational novel about weather in florida, and also full of delicious yearning on both the fmc’s and mmc’s parts!
very excited to not only read her backlist, but the two books that are inevitably going to follow after quincy’s and sebastian’s…🤩🥹💐
——
every review i have seen for this book is a rave review - and so, because i really absolutely loved bk borison's and now back to you, i am now looking to the niche that is weather romance
big thank you again to Netgalley and Atria Books for the eArc!! this is not a book you want to miss when it comes out in July!! it is such a good book filled with a new favorite couple and high intensity situations🤩 the cover is gorgeous too!
Quincy and Sebastian are rivals to lovers, and he is her best friend’s brother. if you love those tropes then this is the book for you!! they are both in the meteorology field and have been rivals since they were in school, always trying to one up each other. when Seb comes back to Florida during some work burnout, the two reconnect as they end up chasing storms together, getting footage for her show as well as his docuseries.
their banter was incredible! i loved how they constantly nagged each other- at first to annoy each other but soon it turned into playful teasing. they were obsessed with each other, but he fell first and hard. 🤩 the readers will absolutely fall in love with this couple! they do have a spicy relationship, but you can skim those chapters and not miss the plot of the story.
i know nothing about meteorology and storms, but when things got super technical in terms and explanation, you’re still able to easily follow along!! if you like the twisters movies, this book feels really similar to this as they chase storms and put themselves in harms way for not only the thrill but also to help educate their audience on how these storms form/work and how people can stay safe during them!
highly, highly recommend if this at all sounds interesting to you!! i was super lucky to get this arc and hope to get a physical copy when it is released on July 16!! 💙🌪️

A big thank you to Netgalley, Atria Books and Chelsea Curto for the arc in exchange for an honest review!
i've been meaning to pick up a chelsea curto book for so long, and i'm so happy this was my first! as an avid fan of twisters, i had very high expectations going into this, and it managed to exceed all of them. it was fast-paced, witty, empowering, and heartwarming. you could really tell just how much research the author put into accurately representing the field of meteorology, a woman working in STEM, and natural disasters. i definitely learned a lot about hurricanes, tornadoes, and storm preparedness from reading this book, even if i was confused at times, which made it all the more entertaining. the chapters flew by so fast, as there was so much going on throughout the whole book. i was hooked from the very start and stayed up late reading into the night, not wanting to put it down.
i also really enjoyed the side characters and seeing their dynamic as a friend group. all their little moments together were so sweet, and i can't wait to see if some of them eventually get their own book.
however, since this was marketed as a 'rivals-to-lovers' book, i was expecting them to be competing against each other and arguing back and forth for a lot longer than they actually did. their rivalry barely lasted long at all, and even seemed to be totally one-sided. i expected more from that aspect of the book, and was a bit disappointed by how quickly it was resolved. i also wish it showed more interactions from their past. we were told a lot about it to make us feel like they had been competing against each other and had a mutual hatred all throughout high school and college, but we were never really shown any of it. i think if more flashbacks were incorporated, it would've been more convincing that they were truly rivals.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀₊˚ ꒰ ⟢﹕characters ꒱ ˚₊ ☔️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
₊ 𖦹﹕quincy monroe ₊˚꒰🎙️꒱‧
she has a PhD in atmospheric sciences and runs a meteorology instagram page where she livestreams every morning to educate people on storm preparedness, spread word about potential storms in the area, and shows live clips of the storms as they form.
i absolutely LOVED her! more books about women in STEM, please! she was so passionate about her job and fearless when it came to correcting others and chasing the storms. she faced a lot of misogyny since she works in a male-dominated field, but she never let that deter her from reaching her goals.
i loved how she always stood up for herself, even when it could've cost her. it was admirable to see such a badass fmc who never let anyone diminish her or her accomplishments. however, even the strongest women get exhausted sometimes having to continuously work harder than men to get to the same place, and quincy's character illustrates that perfectly. she always had to prove herself over and over again while the men around her got everything handed to them, and while she was frustrated at times, she never backed down from a challenge. she took pride in proving the men wrong and that was so empowering to see. i truly adored her character and hope to channel some of her courage and take-no-shit attitude in my own life.
₊ 𖦹﹕sebastian dunn ₊˚꒰📹꒱‧
he works as the weatherman for ABC news, and comes back to florida to film a docuseries on the hurricane season in the southeast. fighting burnout, he uses the assignment as an excuse to figure out what he wants to do with his life and rediscover what reignites his passion for weather.
i adored his character! he was the perfect combination of cocky, playful, and tender. he was quick with witty comebacks and even quicker to offer support to his friends and family. i really enjoyed watching him slowly rediscover his love for weather and seeing the sacrifices he made so that quincy would never be looked down upon for being a woman. seeing him stand up for her at every turn was everything i wanted and more. i firmly believe that is one of the hottest things a man can do—stand up for their girl and make sure their voice is heard. he supported her through every success and every challenge, never letting her feel beaten down or less than because of the misogynistic men in their field. he was her number one fan and believed in her wholeheartedly. he supported her decisions and never kept her from doing something she was set on, even if it was risky. definitely a new favorite book boyfriend!
⠀⠀⠀⠀₊˚ ꒰ ⟢﹕quincy & sebastian ꒱ ˚₊ 🌊
i'm obsessed with everything about their relationship. they had some of the best banter i've ever read; it had me kicking my feet and giggling so often. i loved how it continued even when they became a couple. that competitiveness and teasing nature between them never faded, only became more affectionate.
the tension between them was palpable, and i was on the edge of my seat waiting for the moment they gave in to that pull between them. also, the way this man was obsessed with her and everything she did!! he was her biggest supporter, whether that was silently from afar or when he was right next to her. the yearning was top tier! gosh, i love when a man is pathetic for his girl, and sebastian was the perfect example of that.
their relationship was the epitome of the 'i can do it by myself' 'i know, but let me help you' trope. sebastian never let her face anything alone, not because he didn't think she was capable, but because he wanted to make sure she was safe and never felt alone. similarly, whenever someone disrespected her in his presence or tried to make her feel less than because she was a woman, he immediately shut it down. he used the power he had as a man in the field to uplift her, even at his own expense. that support and selflessness were woven through their entire relationship.
their relationship was very mature, and they communicated easily, which was refreshing compared to the miscommunication commonly found in other romance books. the effortless way they fit together and loved each other was such a breath of fresh air. i thoroughly enjoyed watching their story unfold.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀₊˚ ꒰ ⟢﹕overall ꒱ ˚₊ 🌀
this was sooo cute and so fast-paced. i loved reading about a strong, independent woman in STEM and high-stakes storm chasing. quincy and sebastian's relationship was so mature and supportive, so heartwarming to read about. the way they faced everything together, and he used his power to uplift her was everything.
i recommend this book if you loved the movie twisters (and were miffed by the lack of a kiss), are interested in weather, or are looking for a super bingeable book to get you through a rainy day. i had so much fun reading it, and i look forward to picking up chelsea curto's other books.
fingers crossed for books about the rest of the friend group !! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

This was one of those books that I never wanted to end, and it was the perfect mix of romance, science, and determination and resilience all in one book. I know I may be coming at this from a biased perspective, considering how much I've raved about Chelsea Curto's books in the past, but I truly believe this was a strong trad publishing debut for her, and I'm so glad that more people will be introduced to her books and her writing through this!

As some of you already know, I’m a HUGE fan of Chelsea Curto and I’ve been following her since her early days when the only books she has out were from her Caught on Camera series and the only DC Stars book that was out was Face Off🥹I’m so proud of her and I’m starting this ARC immediately!
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
26 BOOKS IN 2026 CHALLENGE: 1/26
Since reading Face Off I've been in love with every book that Chelsea wrote and I can't believe I got to read In Stormy Weather early.
This book was everything I wanted and so much more. Quincy and Seb are perfect!!! The banter, the tension, the spice! IMMACULATE
Read this if you love: • rivals to lovers • woman in STEM • he's been in love for YEARS • best friend's brother • man obsessed • found family • forced proximity • slow burn • hot spice • banter as foreplay • he has a secret nickname for her • only on bed • ketchup sachets • "Quinny baby" • baby ducks
After the end of the book I'm pretty certain Chelsea will develop this into a series and I'm sooo freaking excited!!! Have to say, I was a little scared before I started reading because this is her first full book outside of the D.C. Stars series since she started writing them and I was actually emotional thinking about that series ending this year, but I'm also so freaking excited to see what Chelsea has in plan for us next!
3.5 / 5 Stars This was my first Chelsea Curto book and it was a really solid entry into the Curto Book-ematic Universe™. There were just a few tropes that I wanted more from.
You will probably like this book if you like: 🌦️ Woman in STEM romances 🌦️ Best friend’s brother 🌦️ Rivals to lovers (meteorologists) 🌦️ Hate to love 🌦️ Just once to get it out of our systems 🌦️ He falls first and harder 🌦️ Only one bathtub
Academic rivals to lovers is one of my favorite tropes because at the core, the characters respect each other’s brains and that is HOT. But I needed more to understand why they were rivals beyond that they took the same classes in college and were both top of their class. It felt way more like hate to love than rivals to lovers, especially because of their verbal sparring.
I had two issues with the verbal sparring: 1) it was marketed as “banter as foreplay” and to me, banter is light, flirty, effervescent, and makes you giddy. This banter sometimes felt rude and abrasive especially in the first few chapters. But for context, I have whatever is the opposite of thick skin (my skin is as thin as a sickly Victorian royal who bumps into a piece of furniture too hard and bleeds out), so maybe you won’t find it as acerbic and 2) We find out that Sebastian has liked Quincy since they first met but he pokes at her to get her attention which, to me, read very much like “I pull a girl’s pigtails because I like her and don’t know how else to express it and to get her attention.” I just didn’t love that.
Once they got into the lovers aspect of their relationship, I enjoyed it. Sebastian is a man obsessed and that is just how I like them. We hit a lot of fun tropes like “why do you think?” and “it’s beautiful” but he’s looking at her. He also stands up for Quincy which is great because she has eldest daughter energy (she can do everything herself), so it is nice to watch a queen be taken care of. I wish that Sebastian’s personality revolved less around Quincy but together they were fun.
The science of it all was fun too. I have no clue if it is true but I feel smarter having read this and I feel less like meteorologists are just guessing if it is going to rain and that there is some science behind it (LOL).
And I love texting or message boards in books so that was a special treat specifically for me.
I really admire Chelsea for showcasing sexism in the workplace and how much harder it can be to be a woman in a male dominated field (or just a woman in life generally). It isn’t easy and Quincy has had to work twice as hard to get half as far. At times though, the sexist men started to feel like cartoon villains and most of the sexism felt big and macroaggression-y. I have experienced sexism and I am not here to discredit anyone’s experience, but I wish that there were also more instances of microaggressions because those are the ones that can really eat away at your soul. It felt slightly heavy handed and I felt like it would have been more powerful to see all variations of sexism.
All in all, I am glad I got to dive into this book. I feel like there is set up for the next couple so I am looking forward to that as well.
Thank you as always to Kelsey for the great buddy read!

“He’s always looking at her. Now she’s looking at him.”
in summary: wouldn’t you like to know, weather boy?
this was my first book by this author and won’t be my last! i had a lot of fun with this one!!
the setting and atmosphere: very well done! i loved the author’s descriptions of summer and florida (as someone who was born and grew up there) and i’m very glad i read this during the past few rainy days because it really added to the vibe.
i enjoyed enjoyed quincy a lot. i really liked her headstrong personality and i’m so glad we got to see multiple examples of her being capable and intelligent in her field. women in STEM!!!!!!!!
sebastian was a lot of fun. you guys already know i love me a pathetic, obsessed down BAD man and he delivered on that front. i had a great time with the back and forth banter between the two characters, though i wish we had a bit more background/time with them being rivals.
a few things that i didn’t love: - i was HOOKED for the first 50-60%, but i feel like that kind of fell off the rest of the book - quite a bit of telling instead of showing, but it honestly didn’t bother me as much as it normally would - some dialogue felt pretty unnatural/like the characters were just talking at each other instead of with each other - quincy makes a decision towards the end of the book that honestly had me really frustrated and i just did not agree with her reasoning in that scenario - a few other one off moments that had me cringing
ALSO!!!! i fear i need a book about a certain pair of side characters iykyk.
overall, this was a really fun introduction to this author and i will absolutely be reading more of her books in the future!
Thank you to Atria and NetGalley for the ARC ⛈️ This was my first book by this author and probably my last.
TLDR: this author is big on telling instead of showing, and it felt like she watched Twisters and used people’s tiktok personalities to write a romance book. I found the dialogue one-sided, like the characters were talking at each other, not to each other.
More details below ✨
‼️edit: just want to add that there are plot points from Twisters taken from the movie that show up in the book. If the characters were supposed to be loosely based off of Daisy Edgar Jones and Glen Powell archetypes, ok fine. But adding multiple things that took place in the movie into the story is just too much for me. It feels wrong? And also lazy. Really interested to see if Chase Me If You Can by Heather Frances that comes out this summer follows the same outline as Twisters as well.
—
There wasn’t really a reason that they were rivals. It’s just implied and they took classes together and “had witty banter” and were always competing, but were just told that, not shown it. It really takes away from being emotionally invested in the characters and their relationship
A lot of the dialogue felt forced. It felt like the characters were just talking at each other, if that makes sense? Like the author had certain things she wanted the characters to say but had a difficult time working past that to make it a conversation that made sense.
The last thing is that I’m realizing how naturally someone like Ali Hazelwood writes a STEM romance because she’s already so immersed in that world whereas it felt to me like this is a writer who did some research because she watched Twisters and thought it would make a good romance book. I recently read BK Borisons ‘And Now, Back to You’, which also features weathermen and women, so it was hard not to compare, but there was something very juvenile about this book and these characters.

review with no spoilers
in stormy weather is the story of quincy monroe and sebastian dunn, academic rivals that have known each other since their high school days. banter is what defines their relationship but what happens when a storm chasing and their love of weather forces them to spend more time together?
the plot of this book was honestly so enjoyable. i loved the stem aspect of the story, it’s one of my favorite “tropes”, weather science is also not something that i had dabbled into but it was my favorite aspect of the story.
quincy monroe, i live for women in stem which is the reason why i requested this book. i absolutely loved how badass her character was and how she was constantly shown to be the best in her field. i loved the concept of her having her podcast/shows while still striving for more when it came to her career. seeing her be so confident in herself despite all the people rooting against her was so heartening and i was obviously rooting for her the whole time.
sebastian dunn, i love that from the beginning he acknowledged that he fully messed with her because he found it fun. even with the fact that while he had said the wrong thing at times, it was never meant to be malicious and he fully apologized for his mistakes. he was one of her biggest cheerleader and constantly acknowledged that she was the best at what they did. i really appreciated the fact that he understood the struggle of her being a woman in a male dominated field to the best of his ability. him defending her was never done it as a way that came off as undermining her but as lifting her up the way she should have already been.
the relationship, the banter between the two of them was phenomenal especially considering the amount of history and chemistry they already had. thee interactions were some of my favorites especially when we could see what they each thought of each other. i also really enjoyed the fact that they were really able to keep it on the down low from their friends because it added a great layer to their dynamic and the storytelling of their relationship.
overall, i loved the story and relationships in this book and can’t wait for it to come out so everyone can read it and hopefully enjoy it as much as i did!!

super excited to read this!! not my first chelsea curto book and most i’ve read of hers i’ve liked. also the cover on this is absolutely gorgeous!!
my jaw is on the floor seeing reviews for this below four stars because… wow 🫨🤩❤️🔥 from start to finish I was sucked into this story. I debated cancelling my workout class to keep reading this morning.
gosh there are so many things I loved like… how passionate these characters were about their professions, the action-esque scenes whenever the weather got a little sillyyyyyy, THE HURRICANE SPICE THANK YA VERY MUCH. and of course the romance of it all. from the very beginning they had this punchy, spitfire banter that was addicting to read. as time went on, i just continued to love them more & more. & both equally 😍
can’t believe this isn’t coming for like 5 months?!? thank you netgalley for the arc ⭐️✨📖
3⭐️ A cute story about two rival meteorologists! This was fun but I also had a hard time connecting with the main characters. I think I just found the conversations a little stilted? Not just between Quincy and Sebastian, but their friends as well. Like the author was trying to have a fun, quick-whitted banter between them all but it never really landed for me. It felt more like the characters were talking at each other instead of to each other.
Also he called her "Quinny Baby" 38 times in this book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishing team for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is a typical case of 'if you liked this, you'll love that'; if you enjoyed "And now back to you," you'll like this one as well.
These two people remind me of "Detective Conan" wherever they go—chaos follows, AKA hurricanes and tornadoes.

I haven't had the honor of reading one of Chelsea Curto's books so this is my first.....I hope I'll love it. Thank you Netgalley and Atria Books for this eARC 🩵🩷
First off, thank you to NetGalley and Atria for the eARC!
This was my first Chelsea Curto book, and let’s just say my TBR forecast is showing a 100% chance of more Chelsea Curto. I already have the final copy pre-ordered.
A rom-com mixed with science and meteoroloy? I’m in!The banter was amazing and had me giggling the entire time.
Quincy was an absolute force of nature. She’s strong, resilient, and so passionate about her career and making a real difference in the world. Watching her stand up to the misogynistic men around her? *Chef’s kiss*. I am definitely a member of the Quincy fan club. The dynamic between the characters felt perfect.
And then… Sebastian showed up. 🔥 I thought I already loved the characters, but the second he entered the story it was game over. The tension immediately kicked up a notch. He challenges Quincy, supports her, and fully worships the ground she walks on. The man is the walking definition of “if he wanted to, he would.” Their chemistry and the spice? Unreal.
This book really was the perfect storm of romance, friendship, and meteorology. The only small downside was that it got a little cringey at times.
Overall, I had such a fun time with this one. If this turns into a series, I will happily move into this world and never leave. I had such a fun time with these characters and would love to see more of them.
In Stormy Weather by Chelsea Curto had so many of the things I always love in her books. The banter and tension were completely off the charts, and I loved seeing a woman be an absolute badass in a male-dominated field. Quincy is confident, driven, and unapologetically herself, even when the pressure is on.
And then there’s Sebastian. Fully down bad. He notices the little things Quincy loves and, most importantly, he shows up for her in the ways that matter. Their dynamic was everything I wanted and more.
I also didn’t expect to learn so much about weather while reading this, but it was genuinely fascinating. Living in southern Texas, hurricanes and severe storms are things I’ve experienced firsthand, so seeing them woven so realistically into the story made it even more engaging.
Chelsea Curto’s writing translated beautifully into this book, and I truly think readers are going to absolutely adore it. This one hit all the right notes for me and reminded me exactly why I love her stories so much. 🌪️📚
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria for the eARC in exchange for my honest opinion ⛈️
Quincy and Sebastian have been academic rivals for YEARS, and now he’s in Florida to chase some storms so they’re forced to be around each other. The book is full of witty banter and quips at each other with some tension brewing under the surface. They wind up in a storm together that makes them rethink their relationship and they start a casual, physical situation. When they go through a category 5 hurricane together, feelings shift and bubble up, causing them to admit how they REALLY feel.
I really loved their back and forth, I’m a big fan of tension in a romance book, and while that aspect of their chemistry was wonderful, I feel like the romantic chemistry/apparent yearning from Quincy was lacking. When they started sleeping together, I was honestly confused. I thought for sure I missed something: a scene where they look at each other differently, a moment where Quin realizes Sebastian isn’t JUST her best friend’s brother and old rival, maybe a secret pinky touch at least? It felt like two people who have little digs at each other randomly deciding the tension is sexual and they need to get it over with, it didn’t feel like there was much build-up. (There was PLENTY of build-up to their realization of feelings, but nothing sexual in my opinion).
I really liked both of our main characters separately as well - they could stand on their own two feet. Sebastian is very caring and gives a lot to other people. Quincy is a little shy and then suddenly learns her worth, thanks in part to Sebastian. Their friendships with Nate, Cooper, Harlow, and Mia were really fun to read about too. I’m not sure if there are going to be more books after this one about any of them, but if so, I have a couple in mind…
This was so so fun to read — felt like a slightly different version of the Twisters movie (which I LOVE) but about hurricanes instead of tornadoes — I definitely need to pick up Chelsea Curto’s other books now

⋆˙⟡ thoughts ⟡˙⋆ ♾️ stars. truly a masterpiece. this cover? also a masterpiece. the way i love romances involving chasing storms, it’s feeding my twisters fix. this has so many tropes i love, best friend’s brother, one bed, forced proximity, a woman in stem 🙂↕️🥵 THE BANTER 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 i was immediately hooked from the first chapter. this had me giggling the entire time. this was my first book from chelsea and certainly not my last!!! her writing made me feel as if i was there with the characters.
quincy the woman that you are!!!! i love that she’s proud of her accomplishments and knows how talented she is and doesn’t not let anyone tell her otherwise. sebastian the man you are!!! he knows how to get under quin’s skin but all out of love 🤭 can we discuss the way he is protective of her and hates how she gets treated for being a woman in stem ❤️🩹 and the ketchup packets!!!!!!! (iykyk)
⋆˙⟡ synopsis ⟡˙⋆ quincy is the host of a successful online weather show with a huge following on her meteorology instagram. a new job opportunity arises which has her determined to get it, except sebastian arrives (her best friend’s brother 😮💨) who happens to be a tv weatherman and her professional rival. they are forced to set aside their grudges and chase the florida hurricanes together.
I’m overstimulated. There was so much happening with very little depth that I couldn’t even tell what the actual plot of this book was supposed to be. Rivals for five seconds. Co-storm chasers, IG live buddies, friends with benefits, competing for the same job. Pick a lane.
Sebastian was just as scattered as the plot, because we are told this man has been “obsessed” with Quincy for years, but he also seems baffled by the concept of being in love with her at 92%? Quincy also pissed me off, because why was she risking their lives to prove herself to misogynistic men in meteorology? The nail in the coffin was them having their love declaration on IG live, complete with grinding on camera. Nope. I’m out.
It was entertaining, until it wasn’t. Thanks for the eARC, NetGalley.
