From bestselling indie author Chelsea Curto comes an academic rivals-to-lovers romance about storm-chasing meteorologists during hurricane season in Florida—perfect for fans of Ali Hazelwood and B.K. Borison.

Nothing can rain on Quincy Monroe’s parade. She’s a woman-in-STEM with a PhD in atmospheric sciences, the host of a successful online weather show, and has one million followers on her meteorology Instagram.

Quincy has spent endless hours forging her path in this male-dominated field, becoming one of the best in the industry. And with a new job opportunity, nothing can derail her success. Except for the ill-timed arrival of Sebastian Dunn.

Sebastian is her best friend’s brother, her long-suffering academic and professional rival, and a flashy TV weatherman from New York City that everyone swoons over. Everyone but Quincy.

Over a scorching Florida summer and record-breaking hurricane season, Sebastian and Quincy are forced into close proximity. Setting aside their grudges to chase storms and stay alive is one thing, but can they weather the inevitable collision of their hearts?

BRING BACK DOWN BAD MEN BEGGING FOR THEIR BADASS WOMEN 😻😍💞
⤿ in stormy weather follows Sebastian and Quincy, childhood rivals who coincidentally are in the same field, meterology. they reunite after a while and start competing again - but this time, who can get better footage of storms for their respected jobs. ⟡ i enjoyed this book so, so much 😩 a woman in STEM and a man that will bown down for her will ALWAYS get me.

the characters ꩜。⋆.

⊹ Quincy monroe ᝰ⋆ she was my favorite part of the book - or more specifically, her brain and fierce personality. this might be the first time where i actually think a woman in STEM was written correctly and done justice. continuously throughout the book, she shocked me with how well she knew her job, how passionate she was about it, and how confidently she corrected the men in her field with her knowledge. i’m still in awe, i don’t even know how to put my thoughts into words because she was just amazing — i feel like i’ve learned so many things about the meterology field just from her/this book alone. bottom line: more “women in STEM” books should be written like THIS!!

⊹ Sebastian dunn ᝰ⋆ BRING BACK PATHETIC MEN!! 💫 i adored him so much; he was the sweetest and most considerate man. i loved how he defended her in front of powerful men in their field even if he had to sacrifice something himself — that made me melt. the way he made her feel worthy and performed so many acts of service had ME on my knees for him.

༄˖ the relationship. their dynamic was impeccable!! i loved how their personalities fit each other so well and despite them being in the same field, there was no animosity at all. quincy, as a woman in STEM, felt like she constantly had to prove the men in her field wrong — and to do this, she had to chase extremely dangerous storms, and instead of sebastian forcing her to stop, he ran along with her at every step and understood. Quincy and Sebastian are the couple you see at a family reunion and are instantly jealous of.

𖧷˖ ── overall, i had such a wonderful time with this. i binged this in less than 5 hours and i do not regret a single moment of it. seeing two people who so clearly love each other in every single circumstance the world can throw at them was deeply endearing and such a pleasure to read about. go pick this book up when it comes out on july 16th!!

⛈️ ⊹ thank you so much to netgalley, atria, and Chelsea curto for the ARC of this book. i’m deeply appreciative!

࿔₊ ࣪˖ lastly, thank you to my best girl, rei, for reading this with me. i love how we’re basically ARC buddy readers at this point 🥹💙 love you, and I can’t wait for many more!! ✨

Truth or dare, Quinny baby? 🌪️⛈️☔️❤️

Thank you so much to NetGalley, publisher Atria Books/Simon & Schuster, and author Chelsea Curto for an ARC of In Stormy Weather. Publication date is July 16, 2026 and you DO NOT want to miss this one! I already know I’ll be buying a final copy when it’s out so I can annotate and share all of my favorite quotes ♥️☔️

✨FIVE STARS ✨

I mentioned this in my pre-read, but once upon a time I wanted to be a meteorologist and storm chaser (before I realized just how much math was involved 😅), so this book immediately drew me in. Add a romcom on top of that? Say less. In Stormy Weather is PERFECT for readers who love enemies to (friends?) to lovers, banter that will make you laugh out loud, and moments that will make your heart melt.

Quincy Monroe is our FMC and I absolutely LOVED her. She’s powerful, intelligent, funny, and so caring to the people she loves. She’s passionate about challenging gender norms in STEM (and in careers in general), and she does not hesitate to call out misogyny when she sees it. Watching her stand her ground, advocate for herself, and still allow herself to be vulnerable was so empowering.

And speaking of calling out misogyny… enter MR. SEBASTIAN FREAKING DUNN. New book boyfriend alert!!! 🚨 Sebastian is witty, hilarious, deeply caring, and completely obsessed with Quincy in the best way. Seeing all of their moments together was *chefs kiss* especially their banter 😂🥰

Learning why Sebastian got into weather, seeing his passion, and watching how hard he fights for Quincy (especially against the patriarchy) made me love him even more. We love a man who listens, supports, and shows up 👏💞

This book is full of adventure in the most romcom way possible. You’ll learn about tornadoes, hurricanes, storm chasing, and meteorology, but also about love, fear, friendship, and what it means to truly be seen by someone. There are some spicy chapters, but they’re easy to skim and you won’t miss anything essential to the story.

I am desperately hoping this becomes a series because I NEED more time with the side characters… Harlow, Nate, Mia, Cooper… I’m not done with them yet.

If you love STEM romcoms with heart, humor, passion, anti misogynistic vibes, and tension, this one belongs on your TBR immediately ☔️♥️

I actually finished this book about a week ago at the time of writing this (February 8th, 2026), I just hadn't gotten around to updating my Goodreads about it until now. This was one of those books that I never wanted to end, and it was the perfect mix of romance, science, and determination and resilience all in one book. I know I may be coming at this from a biased perspective, considering how much I've raved about Chelsea Curto's books in the past, but I truly believe this was a strong trad publishing debut for her, and I'm so glad that more people will be introduced to her books and her writing through this!

26 BOOKS IN 2026 CHALLENGE: 1/26

Since reading Face Off I've been in love with every book that Chelsea wrote and I can't believe I got to read In Stormy Weather early.

This book was everything I wanted and so much more. Quincy and Seb are perfect!!! The banter, the tension, the spice! IMMACULATE

Read this if you love:
• rivals to lovers
• woman in STEM
• he's been in love for YEARS
• best friend's brother
• man obsessed
• found family
• forced proximity
• slow burn
• hot spice
• banter as foreplay
• he has a secret nickname for her
• only on bed
• ketchup sachets
• "Quinny baby"
• baby ducks

After the end of the book I'm pretty certain Chelsea will develop this into a series and I'm sooo freaking excited!!!
Have to say, I was a little scared before I started reading because this is her first full book outside of the D.C. Stars series since she started writing them and I was actually emotional thinking about that series ending this year, but I'm also so freaking excited to see what Chelsea has in plan for us next!

This was my first Chelsea Curto book and it was a really solid entry into the Curto Book-ematic Universe™. There were just a few tropes that I wanted more from.

You will probably like this book if you like:
🌦️ Woman in STEM romances
🌦️ Best friend’s brother
🌦️ Rivals to lovers (meteorologists)
🌦️ Hate to love
🌦️ Just once to get it out of our systems
🌦️ He falls first and harder
🌦️ Only one bathtub

Academic rivals to lovers is one of my favorite tropes because at the core, the characters respect each other’s brains and that is HOT. But I needed more to understand why they were rivals beyond that they took the same classes in college and were both top of their class. It felt way more like hate to love than rivals to lovers, especially because of their verbal sparring.

I had two issues with the verbal sparring: 1) it was marketed as “banter as foreplay” and to me, banter is light, flirty, effervescent, and makes you giddy. This banter sometimes felt rude and abrasive especially in the first few chapters. But for context, I have whatever is the opposite of thick skin (my skin is as thin as a sickly Victorian royal who bumps into a piece of furniture too hard and bleeds out), so maybe you won’t find it as acerbic and 2) We find out that Sebastian has liked Quincy since they first met but he pokes at her to get her attention which, to me, read very much like “I pull a girl’s pigtails because I like her and don’t know how else to express it and to get her attention.” I just didn’t love that.

Once they got into the lovers aspect of their relationship, I enjoyed it. Sebastian is a man obsessed and that is just how I like them. We hit a lot of fun tropes like “why do you think?” and “it’s beautiful” but he’s looking at her. He also stands up for Quincy which is great because she has eldest daughter energy (she can do everything herself), so it is nice to watch a queen be taken care of. I wish that Sebastian’s personality revolved less around Quincy but together they were fun.

The science of it all was fun too. I have no clue if it is true but I feel smarter having read this and I feel less like meteorologists are just guessing if it is going to rain and that there is some science behind it (LOL).

And I love texting or message boards in books so that was a special treat specifically for me.

I really admire Chelsea for showcasing sexism in the workplace and how much harder it can be to be a woman in a male dominated field (or just a woman in life generally). It isn’t easy and Quincy has had to work twice as hard to get half as far. At times though, the sexist men started to feel like cartoon villains and most of the sexism felt big and macroaggression-y. I have experienced sexism and I am not here to discredit anyone’s experience, but I wish that there were also more instances of microaggressions because those are the ones that can really eat away at your soul. It felt slightly heavy handed and I felt like it would have been more powerful to see all variations of sexism.

All in all, I am glad I got to dive into this book. I feel like there is set up for the next couple so I am looking forward to that as well.

Thank you as always to Kelsey for the great buddy read!

Thank you Atria and NetGalley for providing the eARC! All opinions are my own.

Thank you to Atria and NetGalley for the ARC ⛈️ This was my first book by this author and probably my last.

TLDR: this author is big on telling instead of showing, and it felt like she watched Twisters and used people’s tiktok personalities to write a romance book. I found the dialogue one-sided, like the characters were talking at each other, not to each other.

More details below ✨

‼️edit: just want to add that there are plot points from Twisters taken from the movie that show up in the book. If the characters were supposed to be loosely based off of Daisy Edgar Jones and Glen Powell archetypes, ok fine. But adding multiple things that took place in the movie into the story is just too much for me. It feels wrong? And also lazy. Really interested to see if Chase Me If You Can by Heather Frances that comes out this summer follows the same outline as Twisters as well.

There wasn’t really a reason that they were rivals. It’s just implied and they took classes together and “had witty banter” and were always competing, but were just told that, not shown it. It really takes away from being emotionally invested in the characters and their relationship

A lot of the dialogue felt forced. It felt like the characters were just talking at each other, if that makes sense? Like the author had certain things she wanted the characters to say but had a difficult time working past that to make it a conversation that made sense.

The last thing is that I’m realizing how naturally someone like Ali Hazelwood writes a STEM romance because she’s already so immersed in that world whereas it felt to me like this is a writer who did some research because she watched Twisters and thought it would make a good romance book. I recently read BK Borisons ‘And Now, Back to You’, which also features weathermen and women, so it was hard not to compare, but there was something very juvenile about this book and these characters.

review with no spoilers

in stormy weather is the story of quincy monroe and sebastian dunn, academic rivals that have known each other since their high school days. banter is what defines their relationship but what happens when a storm chasing and their love of weather forces them to spend more time together?

the plot of this book was honestly so enjoyable. i loved the stem aspect of the story, it’s one of my favorite “tropes”, weather science is also not something that i had dabbled into but it was my favorite aspect of the story.

quincy monroe, i live for women in stem which is the reason why i requested this book. i absolutely loved how badass her character was and how she was constantly shown to be the best in her field. i loved the concept of her having her podcast/shows while still striving for more when it came to her career. seeing her be so confident in herself despite all the people rooting against her was so heartening and i was obviously rooting for her the whole time.

sebastian dunn, i love that from the beginning he acknowledged that he fully messed with her because he found it fun. even with the fact that while he had said the wrong thing at times, it was never meant to be malicious and he fully apologized for his mistakes. he was one of her biggest cheerleader and constantly acknowledged that she was the best at what they did. i really appreciated the fact that he understood the struggle of her being a woman in a male dominated field to the best of his ability. him defending her was never done it as a way that came off as undermining her but as lifting her up the way she should have already been.

the relationship, the banter between the two of them was phenomenal especially considering the amount of history and chemistry they already had. thee interactions were some of my favorites especially when we could see what they each thought of each other. i also really enjoyed the fact that they were really able to keep it on the down low from their friends because it added a great layer to their dynamic and the storytelling of their relationship.

overall, i loved the story and relationships in this book and can’t wait for it to come out so everyone can read it and hopefully enjoy it as much as i did!!

my jaw is on the floor seeing reviews for this below four stars because… wow 🫨🤩❤️‍🔥 from start to finish I was sucked into this story. I debated cancelling my workout class to keep reading this morning.

gosh there are so many things I loved like… how passionate these characters were about their professions, the action-esque scenes whenever the weather got a little sillyyyyyy, THE HURRICANE SPICE THANK YA VERY MUCH. and of course the romance of it all. from the very beginning they had this punchy, spitfire banter that was addicting to read. as time went on, i just continued to love them more & more. & both equally 😍

can’t believe this isn’t coming for like 5 months?!? thank you netgalley for the arc ⭐️✨📖

First off, thank you to NetGalley and Atria for the eARC!

This was my first Chelsea Curto book, and let’s just say my TBR forecast is showing a 100% chance of more Chelsea Curto. I already have the final copy pre-ordered.

A rom-com mixed with science and meteoroloy? I’m in!The banter was amazing and had me giggling the entire time.

Quincy was an absolute force of nature. She’s strong, resilient, and so passionate about her career and making a real difference in the world. Watching her stand up to the misogynistic men around her? *Chef’s kiss*. I am definitely a member of the Quincy fan club. The dynamic between the characters felt perfect.

And then… Sebastian showed up. 🔥
I thought I already loved the characters, but the second he entered the story it was game over. The tension immediately kicked up a notch. He challenges Quincy, supports her, and fully worships the ground she walks on. The man is the walking definition of “if he wanted to, he would.” Their chemistry and the spice? Unreal.

This book really was the perfect storm of romance, friendship, and meteorology. The only small downside was that it got a little cringey at times.

Overall, I had such a fun time with this one. If this turns into a series, I will happily move into this world and never leave. I had such a fun time with these characters and would love to see more of them.

In Stormy Weather by Chelsea Curto had so many of the things I always love in her books. The banter and tension were completely off the charts, and I loved seeing a woman be an absolute badass in a male-dominated field. Quincy is confident, driven, and unapologetically herself, even when the pressure is on.

And then there’s Sebastian. Fully down bad. He notices the little things Quincy loves and, most importantly, he shows up for her in the ways that matter. Their dynamic was everything I wanted and more.

I also didn’t expect to learn so much about weather while reading this, but it was genuinely fascinating. Living in southern Texas, hurricanes and severe storms are things I’ve experienced firsthand, so seeing them woven so realistically into the story made it even more engaging.

Chelsea Curto’s writing translated beautifully into this book, and I truly think readers are going to absolutely adore it. This one hit all the right notes for me and reminded me exactly why I love her stories so much. 🌪️📚

I’m overstimulated. There was so much happening with very little depth that I couldn’t even tell what the actual plot of this book was supposed to be. Rivals for five seconds. Co-storm chasers, IG live buddies, friends with benefits, competing for the same job. Pick a lane.

Sebastian was just as scattered as the plot, because we are told this man has been “obsessed” with Quincy for years, but he also seems baffled by the concept of being in love with her at 92%? Quincy also pissed me off, because why was she risking their lives to prove herself to misogynistic men in meteorology? The nail in the coffin was them having their love declaration on IG live, complete with grinding on camera. Nope. I’m out.

It was entertaining, until it wasn’t. Thanks for the eARC, NetGalley.

“He’s always looking at her. Now she’s looking at him.”

in summary: wouldn’t you like to know, weather boy?

this was my first book by this author and won’t be my last! i had a lot of fun with this one!!

the setting and atmosphere: very well done! i loved the author’s descriptions of summer and florida (as someone who was born and grew up there) and i’m very glad i read this during the past few rainy days because it really added to the vibe.

i enjoyed enjoyed quincy a lot. i really liked her headstrong personality and i’m so glad we got to see multiple examples of her being capable and intelligent in her field. women in STEM!!!!!!!!

sebastian was a lot of fun. you guys already know i love me a pathetic, obsessed down BAD man and he delivered on that front. i had a great time with the back and forth banter between the two characters, though i wish we had a bit more background/time with them being rivals.

a few things that i didn’t love:
- i was HOOKED for the first 50-60%, but i feel like that kind of fell off the rest of the book
- quite a bit of telling instead of showing, but it honestly didn’t bother me as much as it normally would
- some dialogue felt pretty unnatural/like the characters were just talking at each other instead of with each other
- quincy makes a decision towards the end of the book that honestly had me really frustrated and i just did not agree with her reasoning in that scenario
- a few other one off moments that had me cringing

ALSO!!!! i fear i need a book about a certain pair of side characters iykyk.

overall, this was a really fun introduction to this author and i will absolutely be reading more of her books in the future!

♾️ stars. truly a masterpiece. this cover? also a masterpiece.

the way i love romances involving chasing storms, it’s feeding my twisters fix. this has so many tropes i love, best friend’s brother, one bed, forced proximity, a woman in stem 🙂‍↕️🥵 THE BANTER 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 i was immediately hooked from the first chapter and it had me giggling the entire time. this was my first book from chelsea and certainly not my last!!! her writing made me feel as if i was there with the characters.

quincy the woman that you are!!!! i love that she’s proud of her accomplishments and knows how talented she is and doesn’t not let anyone tell her otherwise. sebastian the man you are!!! he knows how to get under quin’s skin but all out of love 🤭 can we discuss the way he is protective of her and hates how she gets treated for being a woman in stem ❤️‍🩹 and the ketchup packets!!!!!!! (iykyk)

quincy is the host of a successful online weather show with a huge following on her meteorology instagram. a new job opportunity arises which has her determined to get it, except sebastian arrives (her best friend’s brother 😮‍💨) who happens to be a tv weatherman and her professional rival. they are forced to set aside their grudges and chase the florida hurricanes together.

tropes: best friend’s brother, one bed, woman in stem, rival meteorologists, storm chasing, forced proximity, he’s obsessed, set in florida, mixed media

As one of Chelsea Curto's biggest fans, I'm always going to be head over heels excited for a new release. And I always know that I won't be disappointed with anything she writes! In Stormy Weather is a rivals to lovers, storm-chaser/Twisters movie inspired romance. It follows Quincy Monroe, a highly successful meteorolgist & host of her own online weather show and Sebastian Dunn, charming TV weatherman and her long-time rival.

Quincy & Sebastian are both hard-working, intelligent, dedicated, & passionate. Both of their loves for weather is so admirable, special, & layered. That being said, I will always love Chelsea's emphasis on women in male-dominated fields.

Quincy is headstrong, kind, witty, & caring. I loved getting to see her succeed in her field & prove her worth as a dedicated scientist, regardless of her gender. Seeing how much she fought to be seen as an equal among her peers, and how tiring that could be for her at times, hurt my heart. I loved seeing her grow, let down her walls, & allow herself to lean on/accept help from someone! She is my girl!!! I love her!!! Sebastian is charming, gentle, caring & witty. I appreciated how emotionally intelligent & vulnerable he was. I loved his journey with rediscovering his passion for weather, and thing the underlying feelings of it all will be something a lot of people can relate to! Seeing him overcome his burn-out, find joy in his career & his life, and grow was so special! I love him bad!!!

The romance!!! Ugh i love them so much I could cry thinking about it. Sebastian is the definition of both "down bad" and "a man obsessed". These two have a history of being rivals, which makes for so much banter, tension, and chemistry. There is an unspoken understanding between the two of them, a level of connection they only feel with each other & it's so lovely to see. I loved seeing them fall into each other & their feelings, loved seeing them let their walls down. I just love THEM. I love their banter, their bond, their nerdy little metrologist hearts. They're everything to me!!! And they're also so hot! bye!

Highly recommend!!!!

I’ve read a few Chelsea Curto books now and she’s becoming one of my reliable picks when I want something funny and captivating to distract me from real life for a while.

Quincy and Sebastian are both meteorologists working in Florida and Quincy is convinced they’ve been enemies since high school. Meanwhile, Sebastian has been in love with her for years and has apparently committed to the long game without ever informing her.

The dual POV works well because you get Quincy slowly rethinking their entire history while Sebastian internally spirals anytime she’s nearby. The standout in this book is the delicious banter. It’s constant and genuinely funny without trying too hard while authentically adding to the characters chemistry. Watching them purposefully irritate each other for professional and personal reasons was easily my favorite part of the book.

It’s a slow burn with characters in their 30s (ALWAYS love a story with grown adults).

Bonus points to Chelsea for skipping an unnecessary third act breakup and letting the relationship develop like two reasonable people figuring things out.

Overall, this was a fun romance with lots of comedic relief. Highly recommend!

What to Expect:
☔️ Florida setting
☔️ MCs in their 30s
☔️ high school “enemies” to ??
☔️ meteorologist MCs
☔️ he falls first
☔️ yearning
☔️ slow burn
☔️ he’s a 🩲 thief
☔️ no third act breakup
☔️ top tier banter

***UPDATE

The way I received this book and immediately started and ate it up. And of course in true Brie fashion, I have sat on this book for a couple weeks before actually putting words to paper, or in this case to google docs to form some sort of review.

This was one of those books that was packed with all the delicious things we all love; adventure, banter between rivals, humor and spice that is a romcom that would guarantee a good time. It was a perfect mix of romance, science, STEM, humor, heart and passion with knowledge of tornadoes, hurricanes, and storm chasing. But also the love, found family, friendships included in this story really balance it out to make it the perfect romance story. I absolutely devour every Chelsea book she writes and this was no different. And as her first traditionally published book, she couldn’t have picked a better one. You must add to your TBR NOW!

*BIG thank you to Chelsea Curto, NetGalley, and publisher Atria Books/Simon & Schuster, for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. In Stormy Weather will be officially published on July 14th, 2026!

give me a Chelsea book any day of the week and I'll be a happy girl.

this is also my notice to officially change my name to Quinn so I'll forever hear "Quinny baby."

also fun fact: when my hubs and I started seeing each other and I didn't want people at work to know, we gave him the nickname of Sebastian. while reading it had me reminiscing a bit.

I was so giddy reading this. anyway. FRTC

absolutely loved this one!!!!!

When we choose a book to read, what is the first thing that comes to mind? A pretty cover? A synopsis that hooks you? A new author? The book everyone on Bookstagram is talking about? What is it really?

For me, it is very simple: a book where the author writes as if every word were a declaration of love and passion for what they cherish. And that is exactly what reading In Stormy Weather by Chelsea Curto felt like. It is one of those books you step into without truly knowing what awaits you. A fun and curiosity-filled synopsis, a gorgeous and colorful cover, yet none of that truly does justice to what it means to read Quincy and Sebastian. Thank you to Atria and NetGalley for allowing me to read this advanced copy.

One of the things I am most proud of after reading this book is realizing that we are on a massive roller coaster. We have already ridden cars like Face Off, Behind the Camera, and Hat Trick, but suddenly we reach a peak. Ahead of us there is nothing but clean air, a brand-new world, and new cars to climb into because we are only just beginning a new adventure.

In Stormy Weather marks the beginning of a new era in Chelsea’s books, where we find a story we have read many times and yet somehow have not. Intelligent women, women in STEM, women who are judged for being women in male-dominated spaces (it almost feels like a secret society). And all they want, all we want, is simple: to be seen as more than our gender, more than the roles imposed on us, more than the expectation of becoming wives or mothers. Quincy is, without a doubt, one of the best female protagonists I have read. And believe me, I try to be objective, even though yes, Chelsea is one of my favorite authors and I DREAM of having all her books in my hands someday.

Quincy is my new best friend. She is the kind of friend who tells you the truth to your face, who pushes you to become a better person, who would go looking for you if one day you decided to disappear from the world and would never leave you alone. That is who she is: a pure soul, brilliant, with the world at her feet. She is focused, ambitious, and deeply curious about what is waiting for her out there. Reading her inspired me during one of the hardest periods of my life, and I could not help but see myself in her.

Quincy is stubborn, relentless, and loves going against the current. She is the kind of person who challenges you to do the thing you are most afraid of, because she knows that deep down you can do it. And being Sebastian, how could he not fall in love with her? With every step she takes, he is there, watching her, admiring her, smiling like a fool as he sees her accomplish everything she knew she would achieve since she was fifteen.

Sebastian would be incredibly foolish not to fall in love with her. The worst kind of fool.

So, who is Sebastian? I quote exactly how he is described: “Sebastian Dunn. My long-suffering academic rival and the bane of my existence.” Of course, that is who he is to Quincy. But who is he to me? The bane of my existence too? No. My new book boyfriend? Not quite.

Sebastian is my new best friend as well. He fits perfectly into that category of protagonists you want to keep as friends, because seeing them in love with their protagonist makes them even more precious. Yes, the label is odd, but the feeling is real.

He is a flirt from the very beginning. He immediately reminded me of Johnny Bravo looking at himself in the mirror and declaring how handsome he is, except here the mirror is Quincy. He cannot stop teasing her, flirting, throwing double meanings into their conversations. Their dialogues are so clever and suggestive that you do not just smile, you blush. And the best part is that they do not even realize it. Sebastian is like a gentle breeze when spring starts turning into summer (warm and comforting). He is the kind of person you see walking down the street and find yourself staring at, simply because his aura feels kind and pleasant. Someone you would want to sit down with and talk about science, hurricanes, and Quincy.

Sebastian is a good man. And when I say good man, I mean it in capital letters: a MAN. A man who defends you, who knows your worth, who respects you, who is your number one fan. A man who enjoys teasing you just to see how you react, because deep down he is completely captivated by your intelligence. He is the perfect example of “I fell in love with you for your mind more than your beauty.” And do not get me wrong, he falls in love with all of it, but the most important part is your brain.

Sebastian is also a man going through a crisis in his thirties (who is not?). I am 31, and I understand him. I understand the confusion, the search for meaning, the need to return home to reconnect with everything. He is strong, bold, intensely flirtatious, and fiercely protective. He will not allow anyone to make you feel less than you are. He challenges you, pushes you to compete, and motivates you to go beyond your limits. He is both a complement and a driving force to explore what lies beyond everything you set out to achieve in life.

It is almost funny that in this review of In Stormy Weather I have talked about everything except the main plot: storms and hurricanes. What do I know about that? Nothing. I only know they scare me. But Quincy and Sebastian are experts, and thanks to them I learned new and fascinating things.

To conclude, this story is not complicated. It is light, incredibly fun, it raises your blood pressure with some very hot scenes (exquisite, 10 out of 10), and it warms your heart with how beautiful love can be. Because, as I said at the beginning, this story is a heartfelt declaration of love from Chelsea to what she adores: storms and weather. And when you write from the heart, beautiful stories are born.

I cannot wait to see if, by some chance, Nate, Connor, Mia, or Harlow get their own stories someday👁️👁️

thank you atria for the early copy ⛈️🩵

I always love Chelsea's books but this one really did it for me.

Quincy Monroe is an ICON. She's sassy and fierce and independent. She's also incredibly intelligent. Shes working to show the world that she's more than earned her PhD and deserves her spot in the weather world. Sebastian Dunn is truly the golden weather boy. But when he starts to struggle with if he's doing the best he can work-wise, he heads home for the summer to storm chase again.

When him and Quincy start to spend time together as the summer storms progress, their banter never ends, the tension rises and the angst never ends. I adored their banter. He's her best friends brother and they've bickered for a long time. But as they spend more and more time together, it becomes harder to fight the tension.

From the very start, their connection was so clear. And as we learn more about their past and how they've reached their current point, I could've cried. Like, I simply ✨can't✨

what to expect:
⛈️best friends brother
🩵he falls first
⛈️rivals to lovers
🩵banter banter banter
⛈️found family
🩵storm chasers

When I picked this book up, I didn't realise I was essentially reading a Twisters (2024) retelling. This is not a compliment.
