Continue your journey to humanity's dark side, as Neil Gibson returns with a fourth volume of best-selling series TWISTED DARK to chill and shock. It contains readers' favorite story so far - Little Piggy
I really enjoyed this volume - as I have all others. I revel in trying to identify all the connections that weave through the stories.
However, I didn't feel these were as dark as the previous volumes. I wasn't bothered by the lack of twists -something you are warned to "accept" at the start - but I did feel some of the stories were a bit short and lacked substance. I was also disappointed by the poor editing. These are not cheap books and yet it was riddled with spelling mistakes. That, in my opinion, is just lazy.
However, I raced through it and want to get onto the next volume so overall it was still pretty darn good.
This 4th instalment is another mixed bag of sting in the tail or just plain twisted horror shorts. Overall I thought this has been the weakest volume to date, but perversely it also features my favourite story of the series so far "Little Piggy" which is absolutely brilliant and hits you like being punched in the gut. Its a very strong story to end with, I just wish that the other stories had been as original and dark. The other story I particularly liked was Punishment... because the twist was unexpected and worked rather well. As with previous volumes there are recurring characters and themes which links the twisted dark universe together. Wasn't overkeen on the stories of chance - they seemed a bit too strange but true for my liking. But the rest isn't bad at all.
Absolutely love this series and fans of horror anthologies should definitely check it out. Can't wait for volume 5.
Twisted Dark is one of my favourite graphic novel series. The short stories are always easy to read, engaging and full of dark or twisted things. Volume 4 was another great instalment, although I don't think that it was as great as some of the other volumes. This volume was mostly full of stories that were twisted, rather than full of twists, which I was ok with.
All the stories in this volume were intersting but there were some that I loved and some that I just thought were ok. My favourite stories were Blame Game and Blame Shame because I loved their premise and I found the main character's motivations to be understandable.
I really enjoy trying to figure out the connections between the stories and I do so with every volume. I flew through this volume and I can't wait to read the next one.
This volume dredges the saddest, sickest, and most unfortunate of scenarios to really leave you thinking. If there was a theme to this volume it would have to be the examination of the guilty being victims and the innocent doing wrong.
Very strong. Very powerful. Very addictive.
The writing is sharp and the illustrations flowing and evocative. Another great read from this series.
A bonus is the appendix highlighting the characters appearances in more than one story across all volumes up to, and including, this one.
I just started reading this volume, and I haven't read any of the others volumes yet, but I plan too. I like it so far. I'm into dark twisted things. What i'm saying is the only books I really like are suspenseful, and thriller, mostly. If I finish this book, I'll probably get the first three because this is the fourth one. Anyway, besides all that, I liked the book a lot.
Was probably better than book 2 and 3. But a bit of a mixed bag there. Some stories were interesting, others were pointless. Also, there still isn't really a real link between the books, other than using the same characters in some stories. Its not like a new twist or a big reveal. Still worth a read but again boarders on a 2.5 star rather than a 3.
I love all the books in this series. Even though most reviewers comment on the lack of twists in this volume, I found it just as suspenseful and thought provoking as the others so far.
A great mix of different horror tales, which go in all directions. I heard a dirty rumour (at comi-con) that all of stories across the volumes are interconnected - I suppose i'll have to dig into the rest to find out.
