Marvin Brumlow has luxury penthouse in Hell, shiny new chompers, custom-made overalls, and a devoted fanbase cheering him on in the Boogeyman Murder Championships.
But something’s wrong. The victims are acting strange. Their stories don’t line up. Some don’t seem real — and some remember lives they were never supposed to have.
As Marvin slices his way through a new batch of clueless partygoers on Halloween night, he starts asking questions. Dangerous ones. Questions that get you disqualified... or worse.
Is he the star of the show...or just another dying sheep?
DYING SHEEP 3D New boots. New rules. Same bastard.
This third installment in the Dying Sheep series does not disappoint. I don’t know what is says about the author (or myself), that he hits his stride in getting inside the mind of a reprehensible serial killer in hell and I am so here for it every time! Marvin Brumlow is such a deplorable creature but somehow he is sympathetic because of his sense of humor and his ambitions to be the best slaughterer in a contest of absolute fiends. The bodies pile up in a woodchipper of gore and as usual there is originality in the ways that Marvin executes his victims. Who knew that even in hell, conspiracies exist but then again why not? This is escapist fare at its finest for this genre and I look forward to more sequels! I absolutely recommend this whole series.
This is the third book in this series but the author has certainly found a way to keep it fresh. Not that another story of Marvin doing what he does best wouldn’t be entertaining enough alone. The cockroaches were certainly memorable and Marvin’s deadpan commentary was as always a highlight. We continue with inventive gore, some chuckles and an idea that would make a great movie. Hoping this series continues as every instalment feels like rewatching an old comfy and familiar horror film.
Everyone's favorite serial killer, Marvin Brumlow, is back! Yeah, he's dead, but now he's entertaining the citizens of Hell with gruesome and disturbing deaths, all televised for their amusement. But, something is different this time. His victims are acting strange and Marvin is beginning to wonder if he is being punked!
With plenty of Marvin's usual internal musings and lots of gore, this short read is wildly entertaining. I especially enjoyed the references to the music of the times (Stray Cats in particular) and other cultural references. Maybe someone will dress up as Marvin for Halloween this year in my community.....
Thank you to BookSirens for providing a review copy.
Ahhh, Marvin. He's such an awful person, but also he's really funny. Also, he isn't real, so I don't feel bad rooting for him. The third book in the Dying Sheep series brings back the creative slaughtering, but adds a new plot point that just seems to be heating up as the book ends. I can't wait to see what Marvin gets up to in the next book. 4 stars
This is the first book I’ve read from Jesse but from the very first page I knew I was going to love it! I realised after that this is the third instalment & I should have read the previous 2 so I’m going to have to do it in reverse 🤦🏼♀️😅
Marvin isn’t your “normal” kinda guy, yeah he’s big & strong & built like a brick shxt house but after a botched suicide attempt (after murdering his whole family) left him disfigured with a reconstructed mouth & no nose, he considers himself an ugly redneck that enjoys inflicting pain & murdering the innocent…I told you, not normal 🤷🏼♀️
Now in hell & reflecting back on the way he off’d his victims he just wants to be known as the best serial killer there is & competing with the likes of Larry means he’s having to be a little more inventive & look back at all his victims for some fresh ideas 👀
Loved this!! I am of course going to go back now and read the first 2, I’m kicking myself that I didn’t do that before hand! Marvin’s commentary was so funny, you can’t help but feel a little something for him, even though he is sadistic and absolutely unhinged 😂
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Out 14th October! Do check your triggers! 🤎
This is the first book I've read in this series. I love a story that has blood, sex, gore, and lots of humor. Dying Sheep 3D covered all of that. I will be reading the other stories in this series.
Marvin back again with his shenanigans. This time he’s wanting the win the championship but something feels wrong to him. He will stop at nothing to get the answers he wants
Another rage- fuelled fun ride of a story! Loved the competition with Larry the Snapper and the determination shown to find the answers to his suspicions. Came up with some creative ideas to end people which was cool too! Another cliffhanger so we can expect more from Marvin which I am excited about! Loving the fast paced flow of these stories and can’t get enough of Marvin! Hoping one day he can reach the top even if it means eliminating Larry in the process! He deserve it
Dying Sheep 3D is the 3rd book in the Dying Sheep series, and Marvin is back with more action and more gore! You can always count on a wild, bloody ride when Marvin is involved. He is such a fun, unhinged character.
D'Angelo doesn't disappoint in this one with Marvin taking out plenty of characters in ways that only he could pull off. But this time, something feels different. Marvin can’t shake the feeling that something is off with his victims and maybe even with the folks behind the scenes.
I’m really curious to see where this goes next. If there’s more Marvin, I’m absolutely in!
Another excellent entry in the Marvin series. These get progressively more and more horrible (in the best possible way)! There is more gore, more bodies, and more creative ways for the characters to die. In addition to all this classic slasher goodness, we now know that something may or may not be amiss with the entire production around these ceremonial killings. You best believe I’ll be tuning back in and checking out all the future stories of my favorite destructive killer!
Oh my what a good book. Death, gore, lies, secret’s and humour all mixed in one delightful bloody little read. It had me laughing over and over again. The insults between Marvin & Larry are so childish. Marvin Brumlow wants to be the lead of Boogeyman Murder Championships, but something about his victims seems off but what? The plunger scene oh so good it was my favourite my was something else. My son was in here he’s like but what end will he use 😂 and poor you call smell the seen at the dock yuck.
Jesse has done it again! Another great Marvin Brumlow story, that has us laughing and on the edge of our seats the whole way through. Why are these victims different than the usual for Marvin? Why is Marvin not supposed to buck the system in hell and just enjoy his lifestyle? Jesse gives us a new aspect of the killings in this one, but we still get to really see Marvin do his thing--80's style slashing! Can't wait for the next one.
I really liked this book. Marvin is so awesome! I love the variety of ways he kills his victims and his humour as he’s narrating. I liked the added element of mystery as he tries to find out the story behind the scenes. An intriguing yet funny bloodfest I never knew I needed!
Jesse D'Angelo is back with his next installment in Dying Sheep. I had the chance to ARC read this bad boy, and it was so much fun! Love that he blends gore, horror, sweet kills with some comedy. Easily just as good as the other two. Marvin is the man! Don’t sleep on this one!
The latest installment in the "Dying Sheep" is wonderful and keeps the series fresh. It's so damn quotable, which is both awesome and worrisome because I'm going to be quoting prolific (fictional) serial killer Marvin Brumlow at my corporate job going forward. As with the first two installments, Marvin is wonderfully terrible and continues to make me laugh and cringe in the same breath. Him not knowing the word "inconspicuous" is one of my favorite details in the book. I'm very excited for where the series goes next and will be happily awaiting whatever cruel and unusual punishment Marvin decides to dish out next, be it in Malavista or on the mortal plane.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
