Forever Laced

Rate this book
The final book in the hockey romance series, Eagles Hockey, USA Today Bestselling Author Elise Faber.

I don’t take risks.
Not with my heart—and certainly not with my daughter.
My life is about hockey and being a dad.
Love isn’t part of the plan.
Then I hire Finley to be my daughter’s nanny.
She’s supposed to be temporary. Someone to help me get through the chaos of the season.
Not someone who matters.
Only…she does.
She makes my daughter smile again. Laugh again. Somehow she makes our home feel like a home again.
I know I shouldn’t want her. Know I can’t afford to fall for her—not when she’s going to leave at the end of the season.
Only my heart doesn’t listen.
I find myself in too deep…and wondering if I can risk it all for another shot at forever.

Do you remember those little Harlequin pocketbooks that grandmas used to read? They were all super basic, super repetitive and kinda felt like created by a computer prompt filling in the blanks in the formula and not written by a human?

Elise Faber’s books feel the same. There’s no depth to those stories whatsoever, the characters resemble home staging actors rather than complex humans and every time there’s a little child, they never behave like a kid their age but rather a child actor reading a script written by an adult.

It all feels superficial, performative, robotic and you forget all about it the moment you put the book down.

Note to self: I’m done with the series and done with the author.

This is the fifth book in this amazing series, and is a bittersweet ending to a series, and this is Rhodes and Finley / Finn’s story.
Rhodes is a widowed, single dad, understandable grieving the loss of his wife, and needs a temporary nanny for Chloe, his adorable little girl, until her gets his life back together. Love is not on the cards for Rhodes, but Finn brings life back into his home, and especially for Chloe who instantly bonds with Finn.
This is a beautifully written easy to read, slow burn story, with found family, friendships, emotions, loss, grief, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract, challenges, humour, healing, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, sweet, and heartwarming, hockey romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I really loved this one. The story had me hooked from start to finish.

Finn was such a standout, she’s kind, caring, but also realistically insecure, which made her easy to relate to. Rhode was just as lovable, his guilt and fears felt real, but so did his feelings for Finn. And Chloe completely stole every scene, she’s so sweet and adorable.

The chemistry between Finn and Rhode builds slowly, with both of them holding back, which made everything hit harder. It’s not just about falling in love, but choosing to fight for it.

Such an emotional and heartwarming finale, I did cry. My only complaint is I wanted more groveling, but overall it was so close to perfect for me.

Thank you to Wildfire Marketing Solutions & Elise Faber for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Stitching with love!

Finn and Rhodes are a gentle, nanny to wife story that is stitched together with love. Add in a tiny whirlwind of a child and two mischievous kittens and you have a read that pulls at the heart strings!

Finn (Finley) is taking a temporary nanny job before she goes on the trip of her dreams - traveling around Europe. She didn't know that she'd end up falling so in love with both her new charge, Chloe, and Chloe's dad. But she's only here temporarily, and Rhodes needs someone in both Chloe's and his lives, that will stay permanently. She needs to be someone's first choice, and he needs someone to put his daughter first.

Rhodes hasn't gotten over his wife passing, and he worries that their daughter never will. Then his new temporary nanny flits into their lives and suddenly his broken heart starts mending. This grumpy dad is finally moving on, but doesn't want to admit it. His guilt is real, his fear of his and Chloe's hearts breaking again, is real. But so are his feelings for Finn. She's not here forever, and he can't do temporary.

Gah these two broke my heart more than once. Finn had such awful parents and it left her with deep scars. All she wanted was to be someone's first choice, be someone's priority. She thought she had it with Chloe and Rhodes, but Rhodes' own issues almost kept them apart. Thank God Elise decided not to break my heart (and theirs) and ended their story and the Eagles' with a heartfelt, beautiful conclusion. I'm going to miss the Eagles hockey world, they're some of my favorite hockey men and women, ever.

A heartfelt, tear-stained farewell to a hockey series that has delivered nothing but swoon, soul, and unforgettable love stories.

It’s with a heavy heart (and yes… more than a few tears) that we say goodbye to the Eagles Hockey series by Elise Faber—a journey that began with Broken Laces and ends in the most beautiful, emotional way with Forever Laced. And honestly? This finale will live in my heart for a long time to come.

First, I have to give the biggest, most heart-melting shoutout to Chloe. Rhodes’ sweet young daughter absolutely steals every single scene she’s in. She brings light, warmth, and a kind of joy that radiates off the page—you can’t help but fall in love with her… and trust me, Finley doesn’t stand a chance. From the moment nanny Finley meets Chloe, she’s completely captivated, and watching that bond grow is pure magic.

Rhodes—our hockey-playing widower—is everything. Devoted dad, protective, and quietly broken in a way that just makes your chest ache. He’s trying to navigate life after loss, and seeing his house slowly come alive again—transforming from just a place to live into a true home—because of Finley and Chloe? It’s everything.

The chemistry between Rhodes and Finley simmers from the very beginning, but this isn’t an easy love. They’re both holding back. Rhodes struggles with guilt and the fear of moving forward, while Finley is desperate to finally be someone’s first choice. Her dreams of growing her quilting business are brushed off by her parents, leaving her determined to carve out a life where she truly matters—even if that means leaving when the hockey season ends.

But the more time they spend together, the deeper they fall… and suddenly, walking away isn’t so simple anymore.

When the passion finally ignites, it’s emotional, tender, and completely consuming. But just when you think they might reach their happily ever after, Rhodes’ insecurities threaten to pull everything apart.

And that’s what makes this story hit so hard—it’s not just about falling in love, it’s about fighting for it.

This book is the perfect finale: emotional, heartwarming, and filled with so much love it almost hurts. It’s a story about healing, second chances, and finding a family where you least expect it.

And yes… you will need tissues.

What a finish. What a story. And what a perfectly unforgettable little girl. 🖤

This is the final book in the Eagles series by Elise Faber and while I am happy with the ending, I am unhappy that the series is ending. It is a series that has always been one of my favorites right from the start. books manage to grab your attention right from the start and hold on to it until the last page. I love the way the characters are from all walks of life and having to deal with realistic things that some of us deal with day to day. i can only hope that we will continue to get a glance at some of these characters in other future books.

Rhodes Calder loved 3 things in his life, hockey, his wife and their daughter Chloe. One tragic day his wife/Chloe’s mother was taken from them so now Rhodes was a single parent. At first it was okay, but now as Chloe is getting older he realizes he needs help, the answer is a live in nanny. What he wasn’t expecting though when there was a knock on the door was this woman who not only light up his daughter’s life in so many ways, but his own as well. Rhodes hadn’t realized just how much he was missing, but was he willing to take the risk or would he throw it away for all the wrong reasons?

The nanny position was exactly what Finn needed, it would get her enough money and help kill the time until she embarked on the trip of a lifetime, backpacking through Europe. When Chloe answered the door she knew there was an instant connection and loved spending time with that little girl. Finn knew it was going to work out perfectly. Except that there was this incredible chemistry between Finn and the hot hockey player dad, Rhodes. They denied it at first but as time passed by they could not any longer and there was some spiciness in the bedroom. While she still wanted to go on the trip to Europe, now Finn saw doing things as a family. Would it happen or would someone make a mistake and break hearts.

Thanks to Wildfire Marketing and the author for an ARC of this book for my honest opinion.

Beautiful Finale for the Series!

This final installment in the Eagles Hockey series, Forever Laced, follows widowed Rhodes and his four-year-old daughter, Chloe. Rhodes is doing his best to juggle work, parenting, and everything in between, but it’s clear he could use a little help. Enter Finn, the new nanny, who ends up turning both their worlds upside down in the best way.

Rhodes was such a solid choice to close out the series. He’s calm, steady, and a little guarded after losing his young wife, which makes total sense. But I loved seeing him slowly open up and let himself have fun again, especially with Finn’s creative, free-spirited energy. Chloe was also written really well, she felt like a real four-year-old and added so much heart to the story. It wasn’t just about winning over Rhodes; Finn had to win over Chloe too, which made the romance even sweeter.

Speaking of the romance, it’s definitely a slow burn, but it works. Both Rhodes and Finn have their own baggage to sort through. Finn, in particular, is still trying to prove herself to her parents even as she approaches thirty. She’s working as a nanny while crafting on the side, saving up for a solo European trip she’s been dreaming about for years. That goal starts to shift, though, the more time she spends with Rhodes and Chloe, and I really enjoyed watching that evolution.

Yes, parts of the story are a bit predictable, but honestly, it’s still such a satisfying read. I loved all the callbacks to the other players and their wives, it felt like coming full circle. And let’s be real, Rhodes definitely needed his friends to talk some sense into him at times.

While Forever Laced can be read as a standalone, it’s way more fun if you’ve read the series in order. The epilogue wraps everything up nicely, and there’s even a little tease for what’s next from Elise Faber and I’m already excited for the Storm!

FOREVER LACED is the fifth and final instalment in Elise Faber’s contemporary adult EAGLES HOCKEY erotic, hockey romance series. This is Professional hockey player Rhodes Calder, and nanny Finley aka Finn’s story line. FOREVER LACED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Rhodes and Finn) FOREVER LACED focuses on the building relationship between professional hockey player and single fathers Rhodes Calder, and his nanny Finn. Approximately two years earlier Rhodes lost his wife, and needs a permanent for his four year old daughter Chloe. The arrival of nanny Finn is the perfect match for Rhodes and his daughter but Rhodes will find himself falling for a woman who has has no plans to stay for the long term.

The world building follows the Finn’s integration into Rhodes and Chloe’s lives including getting up close and personal with the other wives and friends but Finn continues to make alternate plans for her future, and in this, Rhodes struggles with the possibility of losing his heart to a woman who may not return.

The relationship between Rhodes and Finn is one of immediate attraction but Rhodes is Finn’s boss, and struggles not to cross the invisible line. Watching his four year old daughter bloom under Finn’s care, Rhodes finds himself falling, looking forward to something more. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include many of Rhode’s teammates, their significant others, as well as his daughter Chloe.

FOREVER LACED is a story of grief and loss, family and friendships, second chances and love. the character driven premise is emotional and entertaining; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are determined and charismatic.

Pink is my new favourite colour

The last book in the Eagles Hockey series has arrived and it is definitely my favourite. FOREVER LACED is a single dad/nanny, grumpy/sunshine, found family, hockey romance which has plenty of sweetness and emotion. It is the perfect conclusion to an amazing series, a second chance at love for the MMC, a chance at finding a place to belong for the FMC, and a story which brings both joy and sadness.

Since the death of his wife NHL player Rhodes Calder has been juggling his career and raising his daughter Chloe. Can I just say that Chloe is so sweet and has a love for the colour pink, I couldn't help but love her. Getting back to Rhodes, he's in need of a nannyand this is where Finley "Finn" comes in. Finn is gentle, kind, strong, and had so much love to give, but she was only tobe a temporary nanny.

Finn was everything Rhodes and Chloe needed n their lives. The chemistry between her and Rhodes was intense and sparked from the moment they met. Theirs is a slow burn romance which burned brightly, but when they finally give in to their feelings there is no holding back.I loved the banter, the friendship, but most of all the special moments they shared. True love is not easy and there is a major hurdle that must be jumped prior to happiness being found.

FOREVER LACED is a wonderful final addition to the series. There are some heartbreaking moments, but mostly it is a story of joy, of building a family, and finding love when it is least expected. I loved every moment and my only wish was that it never had to end. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and look forward to the next one.

Ok, what isn’t there to love? A cute speaks her mind 4 year old, her grump widow hockey dad or the new crafty nanny that makes the family feel whole again?
That’s what you get in this book and it’s the whole package. When you met Finn she is arriving at Rhodes home to be the nanny to his very cute 4 year old daughter Chloe. She is nearly run over by Rhodes in greeting. As time goes on they fall into a routine that feels so much like a family that it just feels right. They start seeing each other in other ways. Like the missing piece of the their life that is missing. (Insert two tiny kittens that cause so much trouble.) It takes one thing to finally make them see that they can’t hid their feelings for each other anymore and things take off. They have a huge connection and it’s easy for everyone to see. His teammates are happy that he finally finding love again. They start feeling like a family and Chloe lets it known that she’s happier than ever.
However Rhodes is nervous that Finn is going to break their hearts when she leaves for her trip that he breaks her heart before she can break theirs. But what he doesn’t know is that her new plans include them and she never gets the chance to tell him before she leaves. After she leaves they are upset and when Chloe has the coming to love talk with him (smart 4 year old) he takes off across the world to find her and tell her she loves him and they need her back.
I really enjoyed this book and love little kids that are wiser than their age and love when we get a look at some crazy new pets. Everything makes this book have all feels. Have the tissues ready cause there is one part that you’re going to need them! But it’s totally worth it!

Ms. Elise has produced yet again another light, easy, and heartwarming hockey romance, this time a memorable finale to a series that has some of my most favorite characters in Faberverse. This time, too, she features the trope that also sits on my favorite list: the single dad/nanny pairing.

I was happy with the way the main characters' romance was built up right from the start. Finn enters Rhode's home as nanny to his as adorable 4-yr old and proceeds to root herself in their lives, changing it all for the better. But as their story progresses, tension rises as well knowing that whatever is happening between Rhodes and Finn isn't going to be permanent, given Finn's plans of leaving once the current hockey season is over. So there was the question I was eager to find out the answer to: will they give their budding love all they've got even when they know it would end, or would they hold back and end things sooner when doing so would hurt less?

As always, the presence of the characters from previous books is one I always look forward to seeing in Elise's books. I love seeing them still happily married, thriving in their careers, and growing their families. I have this sense of pride knowing I've also witnessed the beginning of their journeys to the HEA they are now currently enjoying.

The Eagles Hockey series may now have ended, but I can't be sad knowing a new series that'll take me to another hockey-loving small-town is up in the works. More romance for me then with those books to come!

A review copy of this book has been granted to me for free. I leave this review voluntarily.

This is such an emotional story. You will read a story about fear, love, second chances, healing, and figuring out like a blanket you stitch together you can do the same with building a family with anyone you want. You will get to meet the little powerhouse Chloe who steals the show. She is just a sweet, lovable child you can just see by her glow that she is loved. When Finley arrived at Rhodes Calder’s home Chloe was on the porch alone, and she asked Finley what her name was. She wasn’t used to a full-time woman's experience. Her mama died during childbirth. Chloe bonded right away with

She told her that her name was Finn and that she was there to have a meeting with her dad about being her nanny. And when they were getting ready to go inside to find her dad came flying out the door. You see Chloe was not supposed to be out front without an adult. And when Rhodes couldn’t find her anywhere in the house or backyard he knew there was only one other place she could be, the front yard. Finn had taken this nanny position because it was exactly what Finn needed, to earn enough money, and she could kill time until she embarked on the trip of a lifetime, backpacking through Europe.

However, the minute they all meet each other their hearts entwine with one another. Yet, what seems so simple for Chloe to declare so openly, and bravely asks for what she wants from the two adults in her life, not so much. Will they be able to pull their heads out of their booties long enough to not make a colossal mess of their lives by being too afraid of asking for what they want which is each other?

A lot of emotions packed in this one

Living with loss 💔
New beginnings 😊
Personal growth 📈
Pink... lots and lots of pink 🎀
Misunderstandings 🤨
Cookies ... stress baking at its yummiest 🍪
Friends that help you see past the clouds ☀️
Humor 😜
And lastly, but most importantly:
Love 💓

Rhodes was trying so hard to keep the edges of his world from fraying after the passing of his wife.
Trying to balance caring for his daughter and the amount of time his job kept him from home was becoming overwhelming
Enter Finn

Finn was living her life her way, even if her parents didn't believe or support her decisions
She had a plan, and this nanny gig was just one more step closer to achieving her goal
Only her goal gets derailed by the sweetest pink-obsessed little girl and her smexy as sin father.

Chloe is an absolute sweetie
My heart cracked for her a few times as she worked through all the changes in her world.
But thankfully, she had her dad and Finn, as well as her Eagle family, to help her along the way.

Rhodes deserves the BEST DAD EVER Award!! Just wanted to toss that out there.

The underlying attraction and resulting tension between Finn and Rhodes bled off the pages.
From the moment they met, they were done for; it just took some time for them to get there. 💗

🥺 I am sad to say goodbye to the team and their families 😔, but very thankful for all the great friends and memories I've made during this journey

Highly recommend this series.
It's one of those you will return to over and over again, revisiting friends over a cuppa

While this is the last book in the Eagles Hockey series (and all of them are wonderful!) this one is especially sweet!

Finn shows up at Rhodes’s door to introduce herself to Rhodes and his daughter, Chloe, to interview as a nanny. Rhodes is a widower and, being on the Eagles hockey team, is away from home often and wants a nanny who can care for his daughter.

Expecting Rhodes to answer the door, Finn is surprised when it is Chloe who greets Finn. Their connection is immediate… but the look she gets from Rhodes is one of judgement. Will he think she can do her job as a nanny? Get along with Chloe? Be responsible enough?

Rhodes sees the warm connection between his daughter and Finn that only grows as their first meeting goes on.

Chloe is a very big part of the story with adorable (although sometimes way beyond her years maturity and insight) in addition to Rhodes’ team family (who we know well by now!) with all of their antics.

Finn and Rhodes each have depth of character, dealing with their own worries, but as their relationship unfolds, it is clear that they have an undeniable attraction to one another, even as they try to keep things “professional”. How is that going to work out for them?

This is a wonderful slow burn romance with a lot of the spotlight on Chloe (Chloe with Finn, Chloe with Rhodes, Chloe with his team family, etc.), which makes this sweet final story a perfect ending to the Eagles series!

If you enjoy hockey and love stories, pick this one up!

A fantastic book about second chance, learning to trust someone, and love. Rhodes is in desperate need for a nanny. He loves his father being measured, but as a hockey player he is on the road a lot. Finn is fantastic with his daughter, but stained beyond the season was never in the cards. Rhodes is afraid to let Finn in to the deep recesses of his life and heart because he and his daughter already lost someone they loved and he didn’t want to put his daughter through that again. Finn has never been accepted for who she is, so she leaves before things can get too deep. Neither one expect to feel what they do, but will either be brave enough to admit the truth before it’s too late?

Every moment of this book was fantastic. His daughter broke my heart when she admitted she didn’t want Finn to leave. Rhodes was so stubborn and didn’t listen to his friends when he should have. Some of the things he said and did at one point made me so upset. Finn never expected to be loved the way she was by Rhodes, so when he pushed her away, she did what came naturally, she left.

I understood why they each reacted the way they did and loved the conclusions (and how they got there) even more. I can’t wait to see what comes next from Ms. Faber. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

Rhodes and Finley “Finn”

* Sports romance
* Single dad x nanny
* Grumpy x sunshine
* Found family
* Opposites attract
* Slow burn

Can I just say that Chloe is absolutely gorgeous??? I know that this is the last story in the Eagles Hockey series, but I almost want Elise to give us a little off-shoot just for her when she grows up. That sweet girl almost stole the book!

“I think,” she eventually says, touching a bright pink square that’s patterned with grumpy cat faces, “this will be Daddy.” She touches a glittery piece in the middle. “And this will be me.”

This is emotional, sweet, heartwarming, and all consuming. Both Rhodes and Finn have trauma to work through. He lost his wife, and she never really had her parents despite them still being around. Both broken in their own way, yet when they come together, they come back to life and it seems like the beginning of something absolutely beautiful…

But Rhodes… when he stuffs up, he does it in an epic way. His insecurities and fears almost destroy Finn, and I was honestly not sure how it was going to work out. I read that part with tears in my eyes… the way that Finn tried to fight for it and was shut down… Absolutely heartbreaking.

But, the ending was gogeous, and with a sneak peek into the Cedar Hollow world… I can’t wait!

This is the fifth book in the Eagles Hockey series. It’s a very heartwarming, enjoyable story that doesn’t contain too much conflict or miscommunication.

Rhodes Calder, the MMC, is a professional hockey player for the Oakland Eagles. He’s a widower with an adorable four-year-old daughter named Chloe. His life is only about hockey and being a dad. He’s a big softie for his daughter, but struggles with all the time commitments in his life. He hires Finley to be Chloe’s short-term live-in nanny, just through the end of the hockey season.

Finley or “Finn”, the MFC, is great with Chloe, who is happier than she’s been since her mom Anna died two years ago. After Finn has been with them for a month or so, Rhodes realizes he and Chloe are starting to live again, smile again, and be happy again, and it’s because of Finn. She makes his house feel like a home. But being Chloe’s nanny is only supposed to last through the hockey season, since Finn is planning and saving for a trip around the world.

I definitely recommend this book, which is told in dual POVs, allowing the reader to understand the emotions both are feeling as they become friends, and ultimately fall in love. And it was great seeing all the characters from previous books in the series.

I am voluntarily leaving a review for an Advanced Reader Copy of this book, and was not paid for my review.

I’ve loved the Eagles Hockey Series from the start, but FOREVER LACED might just be my favorite. Elise Faber has a way of making my romance loving heart happy and this final book is the perfect ending to a series that just keeps getting better.

Rhodes completely stole my heart. Seeing him as a dad, doing his best for little Chloe, was so incredibly special. His love for her shines through every page and it made me root for him even more. Finley was exactly what their little family needed: kind, strong and full of warmth. Watching her bring laughter and light back into their lives was beautiful.

What I’ve always loved about this series is the found family aspect and that continues here. The extended Eagles crew feels like home. They are supportive, funny and always there for each other. It’s the kind of community that makes you wish you could be part of it.

FOREVER LACED is heartfelt, emotional and full of love in all its forms: romantic, parental and chosen family. It’s a story about healing, second chances and finding forever when you least expect it. A perfect goodbye to a series that will always be a favorite. I’m giving it the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!

This finale to the Eagles Hockey series is an emotional, tender single dad/nanny romance that draws you in, engrosses you and spins you out the other side with a smile on your face. When professional hockey player, widower and single dad, Rhodes Calder, realizes that he cannot do it all on his own, he hires a nanny, Finn, to look after his daughter, Chloe. Right from the first meeting, Finn and Chloe hit it off, and Rhodes is smitten, but the feelings of guilt he carries about his late wife, and worry about losing the best person to ever enter their lives, Rhodes does nothing about it. For her part, Finn has parents who make her feel that she has never been good enough, that she should give up her dreams of having a quilting business and traveling around the world and get a 'real' job.

This dance that Rhodes and Finn do, before they finally admit their feelings is so beautifully written that you can't help but feel part of their lives. Finn wants to belong, to feel wanted and this found family of the Eagles hockey team and their WAG's is exactly what she needs. The warmth that Finn feels when she is with Chloe and Rhodes really comes across in Ms. Faber's writing and wraps you around you like a soft blanket. A fitting conclusion.

Eagles Hockey #5

This is the last in the Eagles Hockey series.

Rhodes Calder is a professional hockey player for the Oakland Eagles and a widower with a 4 yr old daughter Chloe who needs a nanny. He's a very loving and protective dad who for the past two years has been getting by with the help of his friends/teammates but knows he needs to make some changes.

Enter Finn. When she shows up for the interview Chloe answers the door and they hit it off immediately and she's hired. Chloe is a sweetheart who loves everything pink and brings a lot of joy to the story and watching the relationship they develop is heartwarming.

Rhodes and Finn also grow close in a slow burn way, but for Finn this was just supposed to be a temporary job. She's always wanted to travel and see the world. She just wants to feel that her dreams are important, her quilts and that she is important too, something her parents haven't made her feel.

Will she leave everything that she loves behind to go for her dreams or has that changed?

4.25 stars
I love how Rhodes would wear anything pink to make his daughter happy, his love showing through for her. And Chloe was a sweetheart. I love how she and Finn bonded.
It was heartbreaking but so sweet.

So when she becomes the nanny to Rhodes’s little daughter both know that this is only temporary.
But emotions don’t play along logics or plans. Rhodes sees how Chloe is getting attached to Finley, so his hopes for his daughter’s life of loss and grief to get happy again come true.
And Rhodes also starts to feel his heart healing slowly.
But falling for someone who only stays temporary can’t happen. Because he can’t risk getting his and Chloe’s hearts broken again.
Finley herself has had a past with awful parents. So she wants to be someone who makes her a priority. A first choice.
And that is something Rhodes could never give her that, or could he?
An emotional heartfelt story and at the same time the last installment of this series. Beautiful brought to a full circle.

This was a beautiful love story between three people. It was moving and touching. It touched my heart; it invoked tears of sadness as well as joy. I found myself shedding several tears throughout this couple's journey to HEA. This may have been Rhodes and Finn's love story, but Chloe was a big part of the family they were building.

The characters were all fantastic; little Chloe stole the show throughout the entire book. This child was filled with nothing but kindness and joy, smart as a whip, and the sweetest thing you could ever imagine. She stole my heart from the moment she started making snacks. Finn was just a beautiful, loving soul filled with much compassion and love. Rhodes was such a wonderful dad; he did a bang-up job being both mother and father.

This story will always be one of our favorites for 2026 and one that we will read over and over again. A story that gives all the feels. One minute I was laughing, next crying. I loved the nickname that Rhodes gives Finn the most, and it will make sense in the end.

What a sweet romantic tale of two people who needed each other.
I loved how Chloe immediately attaches to Finn, it felt so real for a four-year-old. Rhodes, her loving dad, wasn't really grumpy all the time. Life just handed him a terrible set of cards. And he needed Finn to put the pieces of his life back together.
Their attraction to one another is immediate, but they both realize they can't act on it. Rhodes because he still hasn't gotten over the loss of his wife. Finn because she knows this is a short-time gig. She wants to travel the world and see things that she only dreamed of. It's why she has saved all the money from her side-jobs in order to make that dream come true.
It was that first kiss that made both of them change their minds.
This is a SLOW-Burn that will tickle you from the moment Chloe says hello. My only complaint is that the two of them needed to talk to one another more. It would have stopped a lot of the un-needed conflict. But overall, I really enjoyed this book and it's a fitting end to a wonderful series.

The Eagles Hockey series has been a joy to read and Forever Laced is book 5 in the series and it is captivating. I am sad to see this amazing series come to an end, and I will be reading it again. Ms. Faber pulls you in with an intriguing storyline about a widowed, single dad who is a pro hockey player, and the nanny he fights to stay away from. Broken Dreams is a sweet, slow-burning romance that deals with grief, family, chemistry that cannot be ignored and a love that turns into an instant family.
Rhodes hires Finley/Finn as the temporary nanny for his adorable daughter Chloe. There is an instant connection between Chloe and Finn but lurking in the background are feelings developing between Rhodes and Finn. Even though they both fight it, the pull is too strong. Finn feels as though she has found a family with Rhodes, Chloe and the Eagles family. Life was not an easy ride for the two of them but in the end, love conquers all.
Grab this beautifully written and captivating romance and enjoy Rhodes and Finn's journey to their HEA.

Rhodes is a single father with a busy NHL career. He's stretched thin, still trying to find a new normal after his wife's death, and doing his best for his heart of hearts, little four-year-old Chloe.

Enter, Finn, the new nanny. She’s creative, crafty and fits them seamlessly. And she knows it's only temporary, until the hockey season ends and she sets off for her world travels.

But did you miss the part about how Finn fits? Because she really fits with Rhodes and Chloe. They're the family she's always dreamed of, and very soon, temporary feels like a whole lot more. And then we reach the point where Rhodes needs a swift kıck to the seat of his pants to get his head unstuck. It would have been more satisfying to have had more external conflict, rather than a main character's self-sabotage, causing the drama.

Otherwise, this one is so freaking sweet and oozing with charm. I adore the dynamics, especially between Finn and Chloe. The anticipated team banter lives up to expectations, and the found family element carries this one for me. It's a delightful, truly heart-warming sports romance that's well worth the fun, satisfying escape it provides.

I feel like I needed to read the previous story. When I started this one I felt like I missed something, but I quickly got through it and totally got hooked.

Rhodes is a single widowed father of a cute little girl named Chloe. His also in need of a nanny, so he hires Finley (Finn)
He is not in the frame of mind fornlove or a relationship.

But Finn brings so much life back into his life and to his little girl who is grieving.
His little girl that instantly bonded with Finn.
But he feels guilty that Finn is bringing his broken and grieving heart back to life.

Loved this story. I am a sucker for a single dad story. And this one just broke my heart. Rhodes being a widower and little Chloe who lost her mom before she even got to spend time with her. I loved Finn's relationship with Chloe. And Rhodes and Finn together was awesome, sweet and I was so in love with this little family🥰

Forever Laced by Elise Faber is a deeply emotional hockey romance that perfectly blends grief, healing, and second chances.

Rhodes is a widowed father doing everything he can to protect himself and his daughter, Chloe—but in the process, he builds walls that seem impossible to break down. Enter Finn, a nanny who is so much more than she gives herself credit for. Her struggles with self-worth, shaped by her parents’ constant criticism, made her incredibly relatable and easy to root for.

One of my favorite aspects of this story was how Finn falls in love with Chloe first. Their bond is heartwarming and authentic, and it adds so much depth to the story. Rhodes watching that relationship grow—and slowly realizing what he stands to lose—was beautifully done.

The romance itself is a slow burn filled with tension, longing, and emotional vulnerability. When things finally fall apart, it’s painful—but it makes the eventual reconciliation that much more satisfying.

This book is full of heart, with just the right amount of angst, and a truly rewarding HEA.

This book was amazing! I always love when there are littles and the antics the author comes up with. I loved this series and hate that it is the end of the series.

Finn is kind of a free spirit and is not understood at all by her parents. She is doing what she loves with creating her blankets and other things to sell at craft fairs. She is also doing the nanny gig and is amazing with that and Chloe as well. She has her heart set on traveling the world at the end of the hockey season so the plan is for her to be a short term nanny for Chloe and Rhodes.

When Finn interviewed for the nanny position there was instance chemistry between her and Chloe. Of course there was chemistry with Rhodes too but they resisted it as much as they possibly could. She had her dreams and Rhodes didn't want to keep her from them and also wanted to make sure that he and Chloe didn't get hurt again by someone leaving. There were the twists and turns of them figuring everything out and Finn realized it was okay for dreams to change and morph.

Gah, we’ve come to the last book in the Eagles Hockey series! Book 5 is a stand alone with interconnected characters from the Eagles team. This is the story of finding second chance love for single widowed dad Rhodes. The absolute star of this book is Chloe, she’s the smartest little 4yr old, wise beyond her years, and my heart fell her her first, just like her new nanny Finn did too. The chemistry between Finn and Rhodes is incredibly intense and I’m surprised they last that long sharing the same space for nothing to happen! Their restraint was solid… until it wasn’t. My heart went out to Finn, brave and strong but also so scared too, wasn’t keen on Rhodes little miscommunication but boy did he grovel! So sad the series has come to an end, this band of brothers were a delight to read.

I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own.
