With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.
"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."
The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.
Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.
A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.
In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.
When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.
I really enjoyed Treasured by Sherryl Woods. It is the story of the third Carlton brother, Ben, an artist who chooses to live out in the country away from everyone. However, here comes Kathleen Dugan, an art gallery owner who is determined to introduce the world to Ben's work. This was just a sweet little story about two broken souls who begin to bare their emotions to each other. A bonus with the book was keeping up with the other two brothers and their wives from the previous books. I look forward to reading Destiny's story.
I have been listening to this series on audiobook and they are perfect for driving around and running errands. Also, I listen to them while walking my daughter's dog; dont' have to focus too terribly hard, just enjoy.

Ben Carlton is a reclusive artist. His aunt Destiny is determined to find him a wife, like she did his 2 brothers (which she did perfectly!). So she invites Kathleen, who owns a successful art gallery, to his house for Thanksgiving dinner. They soon realize she has set them up, and due to past relationships, they vow to ignore the sparks and and keep things friendly. She wants to show his pictures in Her gallery but he is adamant that he’ll never show them. Destiny is not deterred, gloating any time they spend time together. And of course, she’s right about them. But it takes a while for them to see it. Loved all the Destiny stories, in fact all her books.
In this book three, Aunt Destiny is up to her matchmaking ways again. When the youngest brother, Ben the reclusive artist, meets up with art gallery owner, Kathleen, his walls finally crumble, but not without prodding from his entire family and some pretty tasty baked goods. Sherryl once again pens a beautiful story of conquering fear to find true love. This character driven series is too good to miss. The dialogue is mature, loving and spectacular. I look forward to the final book regarding "Miss Matchmaker" herself , Aunt Destiny!
Nice read. This is the third book in this series. The youngest brother in the family has isolated himself since his girlfriend died in a car wreck driving away from his house. Auntie, who raised the brothers after their parents died, thinks it's time he got over it, so she aims an art dealer at him. He's an artist who paints only for himself. So there's a lot of back and forth, teasing, and getting to know each other. It's a good story. I liked it.
It was ok - standard for the series. These men claim they don't want a commitment & know what their aunt is doing then fall right in by calling/visiting the women she chooses for them.....for no apparent reason. At least with Mack's story there was a reason he kept running into Beth. For Richard and especially Ben, they could have just walked away. It seemed a bit forced & rushed at the end for Ben & Kathleen. Ben went from I want nothing to do with her any longer to proposing in 2 days.
Destiny is up to her matchmaking again. This time her target is her nephew Ben Carlton and gallery owner Kathleen Dugan. Kathleen was interested only in Ben's paintings but also by the mysterious man who created them. Would Kathleen find Ben's wounds too deep to mend...or did Destiny create another perfect match.
Basically a nice easy predictable book. I enjoyed it and was glad for the lack of violence and overt sex, as usual. But after awhile, the stories all merge together in my memory because there is little to set them apart.
This was a beautiful, humourous story. Two people with lots of baggage, an interferring Aunt and family, an art gallery and some wonderful art make for a fascinating tale.
Author: Sherryl Woods First published: 2004 Length: 248 pages Setting: Contemporary Sex: Infrequent. Not overly explicit. Heroine: Art Gallery Owner Hero: Independently wealthy artist
Not a lot to say about this series. It’s easy, well written, Harlequin bubblegum.
It’s all about two people pushed together by a match-making aunt who find love.
A rapid romance with sex.
Enjoyable.
Perfect Destinies / Million Dollar Destinies: Book 1 Isn't It Rich? - Richard Carlton and Melanie Hart Book 2 Priceless - Mack Carlton and Dr Beth Browning Book 3 Treasured - Ben Carlton and Kathleen Dugan Book 4 Destiny Unleashed - Destiny Carlton and William Harcourt
Tegemist triloogia viimase ehk kolmanda osaga, kus seekord on tegelasteks Ben ja Kathleen. Ben on kunstnikust erak, kes ei kavatse ega plaani oma maale isegi mitte näitusele saata, kuniks sekkub järjekordselt tädi Destiny saates Beni ellu aga kauni galerii omaniku Kathleeni. Kas armastus võidab ka seekord.
This is book #3 in Sherryl Woods Perfect Destinies series. Here we learn more about Ben who has pretty much made himself a recluse. To keep himself busy he is an artist. His aunt, Destiny, considers his art so good she would like him to have a show.
Destiny manages to get Kathleen, a gallery owner, together with Ben. She tries to convince Ben to let her show his paintings. He is adamant that he will never show his art work. He paints for pleasure and gets much enjoyment out of it. He feels if he were to have a show a critic might not like his work and have neagtive things to say about it. That would ruin it for him and he will not let that happen.
Kathleen is determined and keeps showing up to Ben's studio. Destiny did tell Kathleen that Ben has a sweet tooth. Because of that every time she visits she makes sure to have some sort of goodie. Soon they both start having feelings. Ben had a very bad exerience with a past love and he is wracked with guilt over it. He is determined to never open his heart again. Kathleen had a bad marriage that left her with very low self esteem.
Now you have to read the book to see where this goes.
Despite the wealth and power of his remarkable family, Ben Carlton stayed hidden away in rural Virginia with only his artistic talent and his troubled memories for company. But when he met beautiful gallery owner Kathleen Dugan at the urging of his matchmaking aunt Destiny, his wounded heart began to open—yet he couldn't completely forget the tragedies of his past.
Vivacious, driven Kathleen was intrigued not only by Ben's paintings, but also by the handsome, mysterious man who created them. Were Ben's wounds too deep for Kathleen to mend...or did Destiny create another perfect match
This book is apparently number 3 of a series called Million Dollar Destinies. It was fine as a stand alone story but now I want to read about the rest of the family. There's two brothers and a sister raised by their aunt after their parents are killed in an accident. The aunt's matchmaking is involved with the first three books and from what I can tell the aunt gave up a lover to raise the children and the last book is more than likely about her and this lover years later.
This is. 3.5 story. It is a short book about the third brother of the Carlton family, Ben. He is a wonderful artist who has no desire to show or sell his paintings but Kathleen Dugan has other plans. She wants these pictures for her gallery but Destiny, Ben's aunt, wants more for her nephew than a lonely, recluse life on a farm. She has found wives for her other two nephews and she knows she has found the perfect match for Ben but he is harder to convince than she thought. Cute read.
