She was taken. Tortured. Forgotten by the world. But she never stopped singing.
Anne Slade is a ghost in a prison of flesh—kidnapped, shattered, and left in the hands of monsters who mistake silence for surrender. They think she’s breakable. They think she’s alone. They have no idea what kind of nightingale they’ve caged.
Lykon Blackwood was her fire—feral, unyielding, hers. But after the bullets fell and the blood dried, maybe he didn’t survive. Maybe all she has left is a memory, a ghost whispering in her bones. And if he is alive… there are choices Anne must make. Ones that could tear her apart.
Ryder Blackwood is still searching, still fighting, but the road is laced with dead ends and betrayal. As the lines between nightmare and reality blur, Anne clings to fading fragments of hope. Even in chains, she is dangerous. Even bleeding, she is planning. Her captors want obedience. She’ll give them retribution.
This is not a story of rescue. This is the story of an echo that would not fade. And the song of the nightingale? It’s about to become a war cry.
I frikking loved this book (and you know exactly what I mean, since I can’t swear here). It gave me tears, goosebumps, heart palpitations, and anxieties I didn’t even know existed. The writing is so vivid that I could see every scene playing out in my head like a film.
The FMC went through absolute hell and somehow healed—and that broke my heart and pieced it back together again. Just when I finally felt safe and happy, the ffffrikken plot twist hit me out of nowhere. I had a feeling something was coming, but it still blew me away.
The second book tied up every question I had from the first, and I’m so glad I stuck around to see it all come full circle. Now I’m counting down the days until the next one in the trilogy drops! The fact that both book 1 and 2 are left on the biggest cliffhangers kill me but also leave me wanting more!

uhm??? that ending???? I actually don’t know how to exist after this. Book 3 needs to be in my hands immediately because how am I supposed to survive the wait?
First things first, please check your trigger warnings before diving in. This book definitely gets darker than the first one, but with that darkness comes a wealth of raw emotion, heartbreak, and unexpected beauty.
The writing had me completely spellbound. Like book one, I was hooked from the very first page, and the grip NEVER loosened.
Then there’s the characters. My gosh. T.A van Dyk doesn't just write them, she breathes them into existence and forces them to take permanent residence in your mind. They feel so achingly real, it's borderline unsettling. Their circumstances might be worlds away from your own, yet you feel their anguish, joy, and struggles like it’s your own. It’s immersive in the most soul-crushing, beautiful way.
If you haven’t started this series yet, respectfully, wtf are you doing??? Prepare your heart, clear your calendar, and let yourself be wrecked in the best possible way.
Thank you to the author for the ARC, I truly feel honoured to have read this before it gets unleashed into the world. <3
Shackled Song of the Nightingale are as enthralling and real as Revenge of the Nightingale was.
Please be sure to check the trigger warnings before reading this one - it is very dark. It is dark, it is unhinged, it is the worst of humanity, and it is unapologetic. There is also strength and resilience. This book hurt and you bled when Anne and Lykon bled. You cried for them and you felt for them This book broke open the heartbreaking reality of what happens to women and children around the world every day and that reality deserves to be unpacked and witnessed. Having to witness it through Anne, hurt more than I can say. I liked that T.A. Van Dyk didn't shy away from that and put it to paper. Usually, the hero saves the heroine before the trauma occurs or the trauma is light in comparison to what Anne experienced. Parts were uncomfortable to read, but I think that’s a testament to the great writing. An emotional rollercoaster read. Not so much with the torture of bad guys, but the trauma that Anne experiences while being held captive. But you have a lot of laughter in this book. The bantering.
Anne Slade- Lykon’s Little Birdie
She can't just go on living a 'normal' life after what’s she is been through and knowing what’s out there. She’s been kidnapped mentally emotionally and physically abused by her captures who she thought was her uncle and said uncle that killed her mother and father. But it turns out not to be the case she fought through blood and sweat and everything she’s got to get out. But There are people, terrible people who need to be stopped. She needs to stop them the only way she knows how. By killing them. She's on a mission. But she is not alone in this she has Lykon and Ryder and her uncle by her side.
Lykon Blackwood-
Anne’s Moy Zver’.
Wow what a guy this one! And I mean he is a Taytay fan. And also iced Mocha lover (with crushed ice) …He walks around with his heart on his sleeves but only for Anne. The way he is so caring and so patient, protective over Anne. He is hot, rugged, tattooed and PIERCED!!! And will burn the world down for Anne. But he is also out for revenge. He and his brother Ryder and would stop at nothing. Became the same people that unalive Anne’s parents also unlived they’re mother, father and sister. So, the revenge is totally revenging
Shackled Song of the Nightingale was a gripping, raw, emotional and harrowing story that will absolutely stay with you forever. The spice was spicing, the story line, the tension, secrets, betrayals and intrigue had me hooked, and did not let me go.
So….

Torture Revenge Healing Obsession Betrayal Steam Blood and gore Heartbreaking
These are the words that come to mind after reading The Shackled Song of the Nightingale.
Written with so much depth that you experience everything with each character.
Anne is broken and tortured, but she rises and heals. Lykon is brutal and overly obsessed. Ryder is our golden retriever. And together, they are a kick ass team.
There are surprises and major plot twists, and just like book 1, it ends on a MAJOR cliffhanger that shatters your heart 😭.
Please ensure that you read your trigger warnings before delving into this book. It is much darker than book one and your mental health matters.
What can I say? Our brilliant local author T.A. Van Dyk has done it again. I do not want to give away any spoilers to this book. You have to read it to experience it. You will not regret it.
What an amazing book. I absolutely loved it. T.A. van Dyk created characters that you love and characters that you hate. She pulls at all your emotions, she gave me heartbreak, thrills, chuckles, so many giggles, anxieties and tears... so many tears. Her writing is poetic, moving, and pulls you into this world with vivid clarity.
The MFC goes through the worst kind of hell but you can't keep the Nightingale caged for long. Her song will never be silenced. T.A. van Dyk's characters forever live in my heart and mind. Etched into my subconscious and burned into my very soul. T.A. van Dyk makes you feel their emotions, breathes life into these characters that you wish they would walk through your door so that you can just hold them.
My only pain was that ending. WHY! Why do you do this to me? Must you torment me so T.A. van Dyk? How long must I suffer until I have book 3. I am wrecked.
This has completely taken over my life. I have become OBSESSED with Lykon and Anne's story. I neeeed more.
Thr way this book takes you Anne's darkest corners in her mind and the way you get swept off your frikken feet by everythingggg in this book is just amazing.
