Some ghosts never rest. Some won’t let you either.
John thought he’d finally outrun his past — the night that took everything from him. But when a little girl named Ruby appears in his life, knowing things she couldn’t possibly know, the past comes clawing back.
Ruby isn’t just a reminder of everything he’s lost. She’s a warning.
As John grows closer to Ruby and her mother, Alex, the line between the living and the dead begins to blur. Whispers follow him. Shadows move where there shouldn’t be any. And the truth waiting for him at the end of it all will tear him apart.
The Keeping Place is a haunting, emotional thriller about grief, guilt, and the ghosts we carry. Perfect for fans of Stephen King, S.A. Cosby, and Richard Matheson.
Jack Saylor writes gripping, emotionally charged stories that live at the crossroads of suspense, mystery, and heartbreak. His books blend haunting atmosphere with raw human drama, pulling readers into worlds where secrets cut deep and choices carry heavy consequences.
When he’s not writing, Jack is usually lost in books, music, or playing guitar. A lifelong storyteller, he’s drawn to characters who feel real—flawed, scarred, and unforgettable. He believes the best stories are the ones that stay with you long after the final page.
Jack lives in Tennessee with his wife and their two pets, where he spends most days juggling writing, coffee, and an endless list of story ideas he can’t wait to bring to life.
I was SO confused the entirety of this book. It was extremely repetitive, the same scenes OVER and OVER. Sometimes slightly different and sometimes exactly the same. I skimmed thru the last 30% of the book to the end. Don’t recommend
