Fifteen years ago, Alexandra Nolan witnessed her parents' murder on the side of a dark mountain highway. Now she wants nothing more than to forget Saluda, North Carolina and the life she once had there. When she is called back to the sleepy, mountain town to reclaim her family home, Alex is forced to face her fears and the memories she has tried so desperately to suppress. When the same evil that claimed her family returns for Alex, she must learn to rely on her broken faith and the strength of her Guardian, Donovan, to survive.
But there is a problem.
Alex cannot see him. Donovan exists in a reality apart from Alex and her lack of belief limits their interactions to spoken words and fleeting glimpses. With her life staked on her faith, can Alex open her mind enough to see before it's too late?

As a child Alex was in the car when her parents were killed, saved only by a voice and vision that only she could see. She ran from her small town home and the memory of that vision, but fate has brought her back home now, at age twenty-five. Her original goal was to get in and out of town as fast as she could, but once there, and in her old home, the vision from the past returns. Memories of the murder also return, and to keep herself alive, Alex must learn to have faith and trust in something that she cannot see. Guardian is a warming tale of the idea that there can be someone out there watching over us, loving us and keeping us safe, even if we can't see or hear them. A.L. Crouch does a wonderful job mixing faith and paranormal together to come to this unique blend in this story of seeing a vision that is not really there yet is.
Guardian is unlike any other story about a guardian angel that I have ever read. It is not that there is a heaven that sends those to watch over you, but is something entirely different, and it takes just the faith to believe in the unseen to see them. A.L. Crouch has written a story that gives you adventure, romance, suspense, mystery and intrigue along with faith and the paranormal, all wrapped into one amazing tale. It is something to read, and one that you will be hard pressed o put down before you finish it.
When 10 year old Alexandra is in a horrific car accident, it changes her life forever. Her mother is killed instantly, but her stepfather is still alive. While Alex struggles to free herself from the car, she hears footsteps and someone approaches. Instead of saving them, he wants to kill them. Who is the mysterious man and why does he want to kill them? Alex only survives because a calming voice tells her how to save herself.
Alex does survive, but unfortunately her stepfather, Gary does not. Uncle Sully, who is Gary's brother helps Alex get through this time. She does leave to go live with her aunt and uncle in another city, but now years later she returns home to take care of selling her mother's house.
What follows is an exciting, supernatural story that will fill you with hope. Alex is in danger as the killer is still after her to finish the job. Who is this man. But Alex has someone to help her at every turn. Her guardian angel, Donovan. Great story with a fantastic ending that will give you hope.
When Alexander was ten, she almost lost her life in a car crash that killed her mother and stepfather. Then, she sees a gloved hand trying to kill her. Fifteen years later, she returns Saluda to decide what to do about her mother's house. After being home for awhile, she decides to stay a little longer. She's puzzled by a figure that she keeps seeing in a mirror. She finally figures out that it is a guardian angel. Between coming back to Saluda, after suffering a car crash, after finding out that she has guardian angel, and trying to figure out who is trying to kill her, she decides to stay until she can find out who's responsible for everything. They say that everyone has a guardian angel and Alex has just met here's. You won't be wasting your time reading this book because it's good and moves along quite swiftly.
This was the first time reading a book of this kind. It kept my interest although the main character should have used more common sense than she did in some of the predicaments mentioned. It was fast paced and kept me wanting to know what would happen. The story line went from mystery/suspense to predictable (so I thought) back to suspense.
I got this as a free read from e-books daily. I found a total surprise inside. The author had me right there with Alexandra. I loved this book! I hope A.L Crouch keeps putting more books like this out!
Who wouldn't want to know you had a guardian angel to protect you that you could hear and see? That's what Alex has and he is right there. A nice blend of romance and fantasy. Takes a definite suspension of belief, but that's what makes it a good read.
Would recommend this book to anyone who likes different genres!
This well written suspense thriller mixes the first two genres with a great love story. This book even mixes in the supernatural world of Angels into a book you can't stop reading. Enjoy!
A wonderful page turner! Alex returns to her hometown for a short trip to settle some family business and face the past. She finds more than she expects.
