The Road Devils MC #1

The Devil's Scars

Rate this book
Six years ago, Zoe Parish fled Denver, declaring to never again have anything to do with motorcycle club guys. A horrifying, horrific experience in a bar back room showed her that they're lower than scum, and Zoe swore to never trust one of those animals to get close to her again. But that was before she became responsible for a baby girl, and before her oldest friend, Wolf Connor, President of The Road Devils MC, begged for her help. Wolf promised her that his club was 'out of the life', and that she'd be completely safe... and so Zoe has returned to Denver to work with one of the Road Devils' businesses. She's wary, angry, defensive, untrusting, suspicious. And not even slightly open to a romantic relationship with one of Wolf's boys - no matter what her treacherous, traitorous body does when Scars' eyes meet hers, or when he touches her.

Vic 'Scars' Innis is a club man, through and through. Loyalty to the Road Devils MC has been the one constant in his life for the past twenty-two years, and that loyalty has made him Vice-President of the club, second-in-command of men that he thinks of as family. He's content, mostly, but knows that something (someone) is missing. The minute that he sets eyes on Zoe Parish, in that too-short skirt and her blonde curls all pulled up tight, he knows, he just knows, that he's been waiting for her. But she seems to hate everything that he is, everything that he stands for - when she's not naked under him, writhing and begging for more, that is.

The push and pull between them turns both their lives and hearts inside out, and brings out both the best and worst in them. When an enemy burns their lives to the ground and threatens to take Zoe's baby away forever, Scars and Zoe have to go back to square one in so many ways - but are they ways that will make them stronger? Or will this time be the time that ends them, for real and for good?

Ok, yes I read everything Marysol writes. I love her books. This long awaited story about Scars Innis hit my hands and I did take a break to sleep, that was it. This one is a real page turner. Highlights are seeing some of the previous characters from past books, including Scars brother who is now a trauma MD at the local hospital and Wolf.
This story in a nutshell is Wolf now Prez of Road Devils has taken the club legal after a group splits off who want to continue to make money illegally and have their butts handed to them. We saw that drama play out in the last MC book. They have plenty of legal businesses that make money to keep them all busy. But what Wolf needs and wants in his best friend back to run the tattoo shop. Zoe left town swearing never to return to Denver after an unbelievably traumatic incident which Wolf saved her from, she packed and never looked back. He begs her to come back and promises her safety and things have changed. She now has a little girl to worry about too. So it's not just her anymore.
Deciding to take the job he offers her, she meets Scars and thus begins the long and winding road between these two. It was so intense at times it felt like I was bending my Kindle. Not possible I know. These two have so much between them, he has no idea what happened to her and she's not telling and he can't understand why she hates bikers. Despite her relationship with Wolf. Wolf and Scars are tight. He's the VP of the club. Along with Wolf's most trusted friend and right hand.
When things start happening around the tattoo parlor, their first instinct is to blame the splinter club, but is it really? They're are so many players that could factor in, you really can't guess. I loved that.
I wanted to pop Zoe a couple times for yanking Scars chain so badly. Poor guy didn't really deserve all the crap she dished out. But then when he'd hand enough, he slung it right back at her. Finally.
Toward the end of the book there's a catastrophic event that effects them all. That's all you'll get from me, no spoilers.
The book was so well written and I have missed reading her books. Marysol has a way of pulling you right into the story and keeping you turning the pages.
It's a must read.

DNF. Made it about 32% and just can’t make myself finish. First this book is told in multiple people’s views (even a random woman at the store) that I had trouble knowing who was thinking what. And honestly, Zoe was a judgmental bitch that was projecting all her issues onto everyone else. Even after being shown by multiple different guys in this MC that they are different, she still thinks the worst with zero evidence. She doesn’t see Scars with anyone else, flirting with anyone else, or any of the other women even hitting on him, but as soon as they are done having sex and he tells her he wants more she assumes the worst about him and gives him zero chance to explain. I get she has some history but I really hate characters that make huge assumptions and judgments without any second guessing or being open to maybe changing their mind. I guess eventually she does but I have a feeling that if I already don’t like her character I’m not going to like her as she realizes she’s wrong about people. Not going to waste time on a book I’m not enjoying.

Scar was good

I liked the hero, but Zoe annoyed the hell out of me. I didn’t feel much romance because every time Zoe and scar got together she hit the self destruct. The start seemed extremely slow, and I realized this book was a little longer than the majority of Marysol James books. The story line was a good one.

Zoe Parish left Denver and her best friend Wolf Connor after she had a bad situation with his crew at the MC. Now Wolf has taken over as President of the Road Devils MC and needs Zoe's help. She never thought she would come back and now she has stable employment and a home for her daughter. She doesn't plan to get involved with a biker, but when she meets Vic "Scars" Innis she cant help herself.

Scars wants Zoe, she is pushing him away every chance she gets and he is all but given up when she reveals why it is. Can Scars keep his promise to Zoe or will an old threat ruin it all?

This was good, gritty. I thought Scars was fascinating, he has an interesting background story. Zoe is a spitfire, the story had a lot of depth to it and am ready to pick up the next book in the series.

I was pretty excited to read this book after seeing all the 5 star reviews but this book did not live up to the hype. The writing was weird and confusing at times. The main character is supposedly afraid of MC men due to something bad happening to her yet she sleeps with the H within 5 minutes of meeting him.... Ya NO that wouldn't happen. Then the whole back and forth throughout the ENTIRE book was to much. I actually hated the heroine in this story and wished that Scars would just move and find someone who was actually nice. I will not be continuing on to the next book in this series.

Can't wait for the next one!!

I have this book a 4 because the characters reached their happy ending to quickly. It takes time for a person in reality to realize they are being dumbasses and Zoe took like 5.1 seconds, with no argument or real contemplation. Just Wolf said she was so he was right! I found that to be a confusing place for her as far as the readers viewpoint went. To stick with her badass persona that she liked to portray, there should've been more to that. Otherwise it was a great book!!
I can't wait to read sexy Silvers story! I bet his will be HOT!!!

WHIM-PY MEN! WHIM-PY MEN! WHIM-PY MEN!
Whimpy men stand RIIIIIIIIIISE!!!

I loved this book bc it turned so many conventions on its head. SHES the one with the walls up, HES the one that closes the door when she tries to apologise, HES the self conscious one *cough bc of that insane ending*, SHES the one that asks him to marry her.

I LOVED IT.

I just could not stand the writing style 😭 like 10 pages of thoughts every chapter of just massive paragraphs… but everything between them was AMAZING!

overall i loved the whole story. zoe was not my fave character but admittedly she had reasons for her view of mc life and by the second part of the book when her real self showed she was perfect. Scars on the other hand is perfect from his first line in the book. and his name is what the whole story is about - scars and how they deal with them - physical scars, mental scars, emotional scars. a beautiful story, well told and a pleasure to read

MC Romance

The Devil's Scars is the first book I've read by author Marysol James. This story features the story of Zoe and Scars.

Zoe is a woman that's been through it all and has come out swinging.

Scars is a bad ass, biker dude that has turned to a clean way of life. Zoe has turned his life upside down.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. I thought it dragged on a bit too long, but I enjoyed it. For those that like it hot, this story is steamy. Enjoy

After leaving Denver to escape the memories of a horrific night, Zoe returns to help her best friend out. She now has a daughter who she is extremely protective of. How she deals with the MC lifestyle and her past made for a great read.
