Magic Shield

Rate this book
Midlife isn’t wine and book clubs. It’s curses, gorgons, and magical chaos.

Nora’s still adjusting to her new freshly divorced, newly magical, and discovering her inheritance is actually a magical inn in the Village of Everywhere, complete with houseguests she never invited—including a vampire, shapeshifters, and a teacup-sized dragon with strong opinions.

But when her eccentric great-aunt Barb reveals she’s been hiding Medusa—yes, THE Medusa, snakes and all—in a box for five years, Nora’s life gets even more complicated. Apparently, saving an ancient gorgon from evil forces is the family business. Who knew?

To add to the chaos, Nora’s suddenly juggling marriage proposals from a queue of magical suitors she definitely didn’t ask for, while trying to ignore her growing feelings for two very different one who watches her from a careful distance with werewolf eyes, and another shapeshifter who’s too hot to handle and way too comfortable throwing her around during “combat training.”

As magical threats escalate and long-hidden truths about her family emerge, Nora discovers someone has been leeching her magic for twenty years. Breaking that connection? Not exactly painless. But with her power finally awakening, she’s becoming something her enemies never expected—if she can survive long enough to figure out exactly what that is.

With the help of detective friends who refuse to act their age, a severed head thirsting for revenge against ancient enemies, and more magical creatures than she knows what to do with, Nora must decide if she’s ready for her destiny.

Sometimes midlife means book clubs and wine. Sometimes it means ancient curses and supernatural suitors.
Nora’s definitely having the second kind of month.
