Further: 10 lessons the SAS taught me about life

Rate this book
Brought to you by Penguin.

A motivational guide that distils hard-won lessons into practical, life-changing advice from the most experienced, highest ranking and most decorated SAS leader on TV's Who Dares Wins.

FURTHER shares ten key lessons that I have learned that help me live a better, more successful, happier life.

I have spent much of my life engaged in extreme combat, surviving battles all over the world during times of war. I've led gruelling SAS missions during military campaigns and conflicts in the most dangerous places. I have experienced life and death situations at close quarters, lost close friends and made enormous personal sacrifices in the name of protecting and serving my country.

After my military career ended, I became a bodyguard looking after A-list celebrities and now I am proud to work as Chief Instructor on Channel 4’s hit TV show Who Dares Wins which is based on elements from Special Forces Selection.

During my career, I have seen the best and worst of humanity. Despite coming from very humble beginnings, I have learned the hard way. I want to show you how, if I can go through all the shit that I went through, and still come out the other side, then maybe I can help you to see how you can too.

The insights I will share with you are simple and attainable. I will focus on how you can develop self-discipline and push yourself a little further every day in your quest to overcome many of the obstacles we all face in life.

when You know You know

and ‘this guy’ knows

an unexpected source of profound insight and wisdom

the number one quality i take from this book is intelligence

this person

has profound and undeniable intelligence

my favourite parts of the book were actually start and the end

actually spending time hearing billy speaking—

that said totally loved Conor’s perfect narration

—listened

will buy physical copy for myself to go along side the only other book i enjoyed to this level

bruce springsteen’s ‘born to run’

You’ll get it when You have read them both

and will buy copies to give to friends

i am old (and stupid) and never had voices like billy’s in my life—

(and as such) i feel a profound and lasting pain that (no matter how old) never leave

—but i am glad echos of voices (consciousnesses) like billy’s are available to me now (better late than never)

at the end of the book (no spoilers)

billy asks a question

to which i say

yes, yes it most certainly is—

it has been an honour to ‘meet’ and spend a little time with a person in no other way in my life would i ever do so

(we’re) connected now/ Your words passed along a line consciousnesses

i will deffo read again (like bruce) multiple times

—thank You (ALL)
