Juke’s a problem in and out the ring—silent, savage, and undefeated. His rivalry with Boom runs deeper than boxing, rooted in the streets and personal history. So when he offers to help the DeLucas with a situation involving their cousin Sophi, it’s just something to keep his hands busy. He’s not looking to play hero… just keep an eye out… lie low, and handle business if it comes to that. But Sophi ain’t what he expected. She’s soft-spoken but guarded, moving like a woman who’s had to survive more than she’s ever told. Falling for anyone, especially a man like Juke, was never in her plan. But when her past shows up loud and violent, Juke makes it real clear… She’s under his protection now. What starts as a favor turns into something deeper… darker. As lines blur between protection and possession, Juke and Sophi find themselves fighting for more than survival. This time, the battle ain’t in the ring. It’s for love—and Juke never loses.
I loved this family, and I'm so sad to see them go. Juke was such a good ending. He was a proctor and an undercover lover boy. Sophi's story touched my heart, and I'm so glad she had her family to help her through.
Yesss Juke!!! I really enjoyed meeting Juke and Sophia and watching their relationship grow. This story flowed so well. I appreciate how things were already in play so it didn’t feel drawn out. Boom had some serious issues and I wasn’t expecting what happened to his sister.
It was cute, but honestly…I got bored at times. The story was pretty predictable, and then the FMC—Sophi—once again had trauma tied to an ex. Not knocking this author at all, but that plot point is used so much across romance, and at this point it’s just boring.
That said, the love story itself was sweet. Juke was soft with her while being rough with the outside world—exactly how it should be. It just needed a little more spark to keep me fully locked in.
“Ain’t shit more important than keeping her safe.”
Not every single romance read must be earth shattering but with this author's specialty in crafting memorable characters with great lines this one felt more like air. I was expecting Juke to bring a lot of heat, a lot of fire, and a lot of personality.
So the tropey tropes: 👊🏽 BoxerMMC/timid and shy FMC; Juke is hard edges and gooey middle for his Sophi aka Lovey. 👊🏽 Hurt/Comfort; FMC is running from an abusive ex. 👊🏽 ProtectorMMC/FragileFMC; Juke is a natural protector when it comes to his Sophi. They started out as Friends and we watched them become lovers through his protective spirit. 👊🏽 Family First; Sophi's cousins and their wives and kids do make an appearance. It's nice seeing the whole family. This serves as the perfect close out 👊🏽 Toxicity and abusive family; Boom's story as the antagonist starts out a little sympathetic but by the end it's a tradegy that happens all to often in our communities
🌶️🌶️ : there were some spicy scenes. Basic standard sex you would see. Good digging her out moments, thrusting & "take this shit", hands gripping sheets, & Juke got some licking the kitty cat scenes.
Overall: The story is ok. It's a solid romance. It definitely could have been much shorter than it's 200+ length. Perhaps being 150 pages would have filtered out the more extraneous bits that felt standard instead of needed. The tension of the story was constantly cut and undermined by the pacing. The pacing isn't as hurried as I would expect from a novella dealing with circumstances like an ex-con abusive ex stalker and Juke's high level protective spirit. Instead we would get a suspenseful edgy scene and immediately switch to chit-chat and ribbing play scene in another POV, oftentimes dipping back from where we left off. The pacing dragged in the story with "days later" or "weeks later" after something serious drops and the immediate scene is a goofying off family scene. It left the story feeling deflated with fluffed out scenes.
To say that I loved this book is an understatement. I loved the family banter, I loved how Juke cared for and protected Sophi. Juke didn't overstep that line with Sophi until he was sure that he could protect her, be patient with her, and love everything that came with her. He didn't view her as damaged goods or a woman with baggage. He saw the woman that he wanted to be with as perfectly imperfect! I will say Nessa just was caught up loving a man who didn't love her. We often try and change a man's view, and that isn't what we should he do. She was caught up because of her brother, and I can honestly say she shouldn't have gone out that way. Boom and Rio got what they deserved. I especially loved how Juke handled Rio..
Juke came with drama, love, jokes, emotions — and EVERYTHING in between. The story struck a perfect balance between drama and romance. Juke was exactly my favorite kind of MMC: possessive, a man of few words, but constantly proving his devotion through his actions.
Sophi was such a sweet girl caught up in a mess. She needed Juke and her family to remind her that she deserved love, and that love isn’t supposed to hurt.
I picked this one up because Tacarra dropped the playlist early and I wanted to catch the vibe, and I’m so glad I did. Now I’m headed back to dive into those DeLuca brothers’ stories!
Juke and Sophie was such an adorable couple and I love how quickly Juke went into protect mode to make sure Sophie was no longer in harms way or scared!!!… You truly don’t know the struggle ppl have when they are suffering in silence in an abusive relationship!!!… The village definitely came together and rallied around each other!!!… I loved this story so much and the fact that they were blessed to start their own family!!!…
I love the DeLuca Brothers. Question? Why is Buck so damn crazy? And why is Benny so damn bad? I digress.
Love Juke and Sophi together. They were the perfect couple. Calm in each other's storm. Juke didn't play about and Rio found out with that ass whipping.
Beautiful love story of finding peace and solace in each other.
Ain’t no way you ATE this book up like this!!! Juke and Sophi was a story I didn’t even know I needed. Story was well written and I couldn’t put it down!!! I literally finished this book in five hours….. if you haven’t read any of her work runnnnnn and start you won’t be disappointed. ❤️
Carrying a man pain, insecurity and anger shouldn’t be an option. Blaming yourself for the pain being inflicted upon you by someone else is not an easy escape as many think. Women in domestic relationships aren’t just living in fear they are emotionally and mentally unstable.
Tacarra provided a view of family and friends providing support, security and protection.
Buck’s still crazy as ever but you can’t help but to love him 😂. I loved Juke & Sophi’s story. Juke was a man in every sense of the word, the way he wanted to protect Sophi and make sure she was safe was everything 🥹. I loved that he moved on her time and didn’t try to force anything out of her, he didn’t want anything other than making sure she was good.
I'm so glad Sophi was able to get her happy ending. Juke was truly a protector and good man. I hated the way things ended for Boom and Nessa but they brought themselves into that situation by letting jealousy and hatred take over. Rio got exactly what he deserved and I'm glad Sophi was finally able to get the peace she needed.
I think Juke was my favorite from this series! If provider & protector was a man it would be him 🥰! That man didn’t play about Sophie!! The way he showed up for her without her asking & was attentive to all her needs, making sure she felt safe & protected at all times was everything!! Juke is bae!! This was a really good read!
Juke was everything I knew he was gonna be and more. Yessss! I still love Buck though. This series was so so sooo good! Juke and Sophi’s story had me in my feelings real bad. She finally had a protector who gave her peace and that was beautiful to watch unfold! Thank you, Tacarra, for an amazing series!
Juke was the one. He ain’t play. Boom was jealous for nothing. Rio was crazy. Thinking Soph was gonna wait around on an abuser. Hate Nessa went out like that. Glad Soph found real love, told everyone her truth and had her own little family.
I can never get enough of these characters buck and Benny and now they have Shaun to add to the mix and juke and Sophie fit right into their new families thanks again for giving us another banger
I enjoy reading the DeLuca Brothers spinoff. Juke came in as protection for Sophi, and they fell in love. Sophi was petrified. I hated that for her. Best believe her family was going to handle that. Juke was the perfect guy for the job. Wonderful!
Good conclusion to the Deluca series. Sophi and Juke was an unexpected pairing but they matched up well. I liked that all the couple were included so it continued onto all the other stories.
Good read. Juke wasn't one to play with and he certainly didn't play about Sophi. Sorry for the way Nessa died and Boom was just full of hate for no reason. Glad Rio was taken care he should have went on about his business.
Wow everybody in this book was crazy🤣🤣🤣. These guys did not play about the women. Juke&Sophi they took the cake. Now we need another series with the kids. Good job Tacarra to
Tacarra has done it again. This book was hilarious. It seeing Eve in this book….don’t think about getting this book…just do it. You will thank me later
