Silence can be safe. But sometimes silence is a trap. When Daniel Reeves retreats to a remote cabin to escape the noise of his life, he welcomes the endless quiet of the woods. No neighbors. No traffic. No distractions. But soon he notices it—the quiet isn’t empty. It’s listening. Watching. Waiting. As the nights stretch longer, Daniel realizes he is not alone. Something in the silence knows his name, and the less he speaks, the closer it comes. Psychological Horror short story / short read. Short horror stories for adults.

A neat little meditation on the experience of silence. The author thoroughly examines the intangible nature of silence and it's effect on the psyche. I found it interesting as pure silence is something that rarely exists or we pay a great deal of money to experience sensory deprivation chambers. The story itself does not go anywhere, but it is well-written. A little on the too-long side for being a short story without a plot. It gives the feeling of being watered-down. I liked the vibes, and how it examines the intangible experience of silence and a total lack of noise.
