Designs On William: a work place romance

Rate this book
He’s not the boy she remembers…

She left her dream job in London with a slap … and retreated to her family in New York. So far from her small-town beginnings.
Catching her boss getting intimate whilst simultaneously discussing her lack of talent, she flashes back to when she was the new assistant. Nursing her pride, interior designer Stella leaves London without a plan for her future, other than never to make the same mistake again.
Until her best friend begs for a favour.

Help her brother, William Thoresby. She remembers him as her friend’s slightly awkward older brother; he’s now the guarded, infuriatingly attractive CEO of a global technology company. He may have grown up, but the awkward boy is still in there.

When a business partner vanishes mid-project, William’s left with ten half-finished luxury homes outside Los Angeles … and no clue how to present them. With all his resources tied up, he could lose his tech business unless he can release some cash soon.
Stella’s excited by the project, but can Will accept that the girl he once knew has what it takes? Or are they both in over their heads, because if they fail, he will lose everything?

They share the half-finished house as they work side by side. The chemistry may be hard to miss, but both are afraid of what people will say back home, not least his sister and her best friend.
It's a recipe of their creative skills and friends who love and encourage them both, contrasting with the lack of funds and jealousy. Throw in viral videos and stupid deadlines, and what chance do they have?

There is no denying the slow burn of a second-chance connection, until money comes into the equation.

A witty, heartfelt billionaire romance perfect for fans of slow-burn, friends-to-lovers tension, and second chances—with plenty of banter, heat, and emotional payoff.

I loved this book. I was hooked very quickly.
Stella and William are great characters, full of life.
When Stella quits her job in London, she is lost. A suggestion from her best friend finds herself in LA, helping her best friend brother  who has found himself in a bit of trouble with a real estate project. Only thing is Will was told by his sister he was helping Stella out of a sticky situation. This is the start of a fun, emotional rollercoaster of a story that had me pulling out my hair and cheering them on.
Stella and Will are well written, with lots of detail and depth. I loved the twists and turns the duplicity of Vanessa and the support of Grigori, and Marco.
I loved the characters from other books in the series popping in and adding depth.
I definitely recommend this book, series and author

Stella is a talented designer and her first job the boss was developing what she thought was a relationship. Until, a new employee is hired and she over hears the same spiel he had given her. After a face slap, she is no longer employed. She has grown up with Sara and her big brother William. Sara begs her to go to California to help William thru a sticky mess he has gotten himself into. She goes out there to help him design a display home. He is adding technology into everything in the home and needs an affordable, yet high end design. Add in his media manager, Vanessa and her eye on William and the ever growing closeness between childhood friends and you have an exciting page turning saga.

These two were iffy for me at the beginning. The will they/ won't they pull almost had me ready to close the book. They were very interesting in their own right, it just almost seemed like they'd be better off as friends for a large part of the book. I'm glad they were able to work out their kinks and see each other as the best possible partner.

It’s been a while since I read a pure romance book, and I enjoyed this one. Reminded me of old Sarah Morgans, before she began writing more family based stories.
