Lost on Ice

He never promised me forever. But I gave him everything anyway.

Jake Ashford was the boy I could never have—blue eyes, cocky grin, every girl’s fantasy. To him, I was just a friend. Sometimes not even that.

Nine years later, one look is all it takes. Suddenly, I’m the only thing he wants.

The problem? Jake doesn’t do love. He doesn’t do forever. And I knew it when I let him in.

I thought I could play his game. Keep my heart locked up until he was the one to break.

But Jake didn’t just set me on fire—he consumed me. And when he left, he didn’t just disappear. He shattered me.

Now I’m back in my hometown with a daughter to protect and a secret he can never know. I never planned on seeing him again. But he’s here. And he’s not walking away this time.

Letting him close again means risking everything—my heart, my secret, and maybe even my life.

4.5/5⭐️

I was really impressed with Back on Ice when I read it a few months ago so I was thrilled when I was chosen to receive an advance copy of Lost on Ice!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I felt like from the start, I was immediately drawn back into these characters. I think she did such a good job with their integration of their developing relationship in the first book that I was itching to hear their story next.

At times, I would get frustrated with Abbie for delaying the truth about Jake being Lilah’s father but at the same time I understood. The two have a long history and Abbie had been in love with Jake since high school. Feeling like she was just a number to him stings even worse when you have such strong feelings for someone for that long.

Jake - I’M OBSESSED! The way he immediately stepped in and wanted to protect Abbie and Lilah, even when Abbie told him she wasn’t his. (oh Abbie you are so silly for that) I think the way he stepped up while also addressing his insecurities with commitment were extremely valid. I would very much like a bonus chapter of the moment where he finally told off his mom because she truly is an AWFUL human being who does not deserve to be in his or Lilah’s life. I really want to know how she reacted to the news of having a grandchild.

I’ve learned recently that I’m a huge fan of suspense within a romance so I loved that whole stalker storyline. Something about the drama that further deepens the relationship of the couple ESPECIALLY when the male gets extremely protective will also have me swooning.

This book is definitely worth the read if you love second chances, a protective MMC, suspense, and of course HEA

P.S. THE SPICE WAS EXCELLENT 🤭

can you forgive ghosting 3 years later?

Thankful for the ARC of Lost on Ice 🧊
I enjoyed the story overall, but definitely recommend starting with Carter & Sophie’s story as Jake & Abbie’s initially start their situationship in that book. Their story takes place 3 years later following Jake ghosting Abbie. Abbie is now returning to her hometown with her secret baby to run her uncle’s clinic. Jake sees her for the first time since ghosting her and is looking to pursue her once more. Can they get past how things ended before? Can he handle her secret? Will pursuing a relationship with Jake put Abbie in danger?

I enjoyed the story, but be warned there was quite a bit that could’ve been solved with effective communication. Both FMC and MMC could’ve done more to connect with each other, but given the circumstances it can be rationalized.

4.5* - Rounded up to 5...

Abbie finds herself heading back to her home town, and while she's excited to be back with her family and best friend, there is one person she's NOT keen to see - Jake. And the main reason for that is Lilah - the daughter Jake knows nothing about.

Add in the suspense of a stalker, and the "who did this vibes from" Jake, and you get an intense, spicy, super romantic read, with an amazing HEA. A total recipe for a good time!.

I struggled with this one.
The decisions made by the fmc seemed a bit selfish to me.
There were parts that were drawn out too much and a major plot hole….if you know you have stalker then why not put up cameras immediately? They only did so the second time the stalker went to the apartment. The fmc had already been stalked for 6months! They could’ve put cameras on the balcony as well.

I disliked that the mmc didn’t know the truth straight away about Lilah ….that really grated on me especially as there wasn’t really a bonified reason not to tell him. It just felt like drama written for the sake of it, I don’t mind if there’s a true reason, but the reasonings were wishful washy at best.

And tbh they all seemed a bit dense in the fact that someone followed her from the city she was working in and they didn’t question him straight away?? Surely the detective would’ve asked those questions. When they revealed the stalker my first thought was ‘no sh!t sherlock!’ Honestly it was laughable, readers aren’t that stupid…I literally rolled my eyes.

Also a few editing issues where some sentences were repeated.

There were other errors:

~I put her down and she runs to the reception desk, where the part-time receptionist I just hired, Mrs. Parks, is sitting with a bright smile and her glasses perched on her nose. Since Lilah is distracted, I turn my attention back to Abbie and this doctor.~
…….he didn’t even work there, Abbie did! I didn’t notice so many errors in the first book.

~“Sophie looked so good,” I murmur, tracing patterns on Jake’s chest with my fingers. “She said Hunter’s birth was easier than Carson’s.”~
…….The boys name was Chase.

By the middle of the book I was over the story and just wanted to finish it. I hate to dnf a book, but so much in the story was nonsensical and dragged out without it needing to. Its a shame as parts of the story were really well written. I loved Lilah! Unfortunately the whole stalker theme and not coming clean about who the Dad was for most of the story just really weighed the whole book down.

⭐️⭐️⭐⭐⭐
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Keeping with the tone of Back on Ice by the same author, Lost on Ice blends steamy hockey romance with suspensful thriller with the lurking danger following Abbie when she moves home to take over her Uncle’s medical practice. With a “tiny” secret she has been keeping from everyone in her life. Who is doing everything he can to protect her? None other the Abbie’s childhood crush and past fling, NHL star Jake Ashford, who returns after ghosting her 3 years ago. These two have sparks flying after all these years but Abbie is still questioning the one thing that she has been for the past 3 years. Can Jake stick around after she reveals her secret or will he ghost her again and permintaly. And will Abbie’s stalker keep her for himself.

I couldn’t put this next instalment down. I devoured it as fast as Jake realizing that his connection with Abbie is different from all his other hookups. I enjoyed Noelle’s writing style that brought these characters to life in a way that I saw my own relationship. Me as Abbie with the childhood crush and the mindset that there could be no other. And my husband as Jake with the trust issues from past relationships that needed to be overcome to move forward! This connection reeled me in and hooked on to me until i was left scrambling for more!

This book can be read as a standalone but i highly recommend Left on Ice and Back on Ice for some back story of Abbie and Jake and other character who make an apperance!

Jake and Abbie have known each other for a long time; she crushed hard on him in high school but he never really saw her until later on and they developed a friend with benefits relationship. Abbie thought she could handle it and she did for a long time but her feelings for him never really changed and Jake is a self-proclaimed never wants anything serious never a family man but his feelings towards her were always real he just never wanted them. When Abbie gets some news, she knows she has to deal with things on her own even though it is hard, she is incredible and the life she gives her child is amazing but it’s time for her to go home. Once Jake has a change of heart and realizes his feelings for Abbie is never going to change, he becomes a different man wanting and going after the woman of his dreams. I adored these two as they navigate this new situation, they find themselves in and I could understand where Abbie was coming from with her hesitation, but they are amazing characters and I loved it.

This was overall a really good book; However, the typos make it a little hard to be a smooth read. There are spaces in-between letters all throughout the book and that distracts from the reading a bit. I am aware that this is an arc read and that this book isn't finished, so I did not take away from the star rating for that! Jake and Abbie were friends with benefits until he ghosted her, and she then left town pregnant with his baby. She knew deep down that he was not ready to be a father since he had stated many times that he did not want a family. After the scene with his own family, I definitely see why he did not want a family of his own if he would get treated the way he did by his own mother. I commend him for the work that he did to be there for Abbie and Lilah and be the dad that they deserved. I love the suspense in this book (one of my favorites!) and how it added to the story.

ARC review

I think the first book really hyped me up for Jake and Abbie’s story and it didn’t disappoint. I personally was more invested in this couple from the last book so it made this book better in general. There was a little more suspense/ thriller feel to this book than the first book which I really enjoyed. My only complaint is how she writes the timelines they don’t make sense to me.

Tropes you will find in this book include: secret baby, stalking, jealousy/ possessive mmc, touch her and ☠️, second chance romance, and found family.

While the book can be read as a stand alone I suggest reading at least Back on Ice.

This book follows Jake, the NHL player with lifelong commitment issues, and Abbie, the woman who’s held his heart since they were kids. These two are absolutely adorable—like magnets that can’t stay apart no matter how hard they try. I loved every second of their story.

The suspense, the tension, the way they constantly show up for each other—it all hit perfectly. Watching Jake finally feel loved after spending his whole life begging for it absolutely broke me in the best way. And the way he loves their daughter, even before he knows she’s his? Unreal. Heart-melting.

I loved this book, and I seriously can’t wait for the next one!

Returning home. A single mother returns to her home town to help at a family owned health clinic. A tale that starts with secrets. A family that protects that secret. A shocking revelation to most. A confusing and unclear revelation to others. Mysterious and frightening texts. An old acquaintance who ghosted her reappears. Old coworkers become new coworkers. A story with a hockey element that is only a minor player as there is so much else going on. More suspense and protection than sports romance that ends on a cliff.

I absolutely enjoyed this romance. Hockey Player and Nurse with history meet a suspenseful story. I got sucked into this book and the only reason I didn’t read it in one sitting was because I had to go to work. The FMC and MMC have history and poor communication and hurt leads to them not speaking until finally one day they are reconnected. The FMC has a stalker that leads to some suspenseful scenes. I give this like a 3/5 🌶️ level. Overall great story of second chances, surprise pregnancy, stalker, and forced proximity.

Book 2 in the Ivy Glen series tells the story of Jake and Abbey - who we first discover during Carter & Sophie’s story in book 1.

This story begins when Abbey returns to her home town with her daughter Lilah to help her uncle with his clinic and having to have Jake for the first time in 3 years, when he cruelly ghosted her.

We get to see secrets come to light and how Jake realises his feelings for Abbey. Will they find their second chance?.

I loved Abbie and Jake! You could feel the tension and chemistry between them. Abbie is sassy, and fiercely independent while, Jake is the carefree playboy. When they come together, it's an explosion. I was so immersed I could not put this book down. The mystery of the stalker, big secrets between them, and sizzling passion was addictive. I highly recommend this book!

I received this as an ARC. I’m so happy to have received it! I read the novella that started this series and then the first book of the Ivy Glen series. This time we get Abbie and Jake. Abbie ran away three years ago after Jake ghosted her. They are now back in close quarters. Their spark is still there. This is a fun, heart warming, and spicy read. I will happily wait for the next installment in this wonderful series.

This was such a hard-to-put-down, quick read! I truly enjoyed every minute of it. It’s a continuation in a way of another book I’ve read — same world, but different main characters. These are the friends of the original couple, and while their stories intertwine, this one is completely their own.
Watching these characters face their obstacles and fight for their happiness was so fun and so satisfying. It gave me all the feels and kept me turning the pages nonstop!

Return Home

Abbie returns home to help her uncle but running into her past and trying to outrun a stalker made this an intriguing read. Her chemistry with Jake was off-the-charts but the slight contention between them added a layer of drama. I could not put this book down.

Book 2 smashed out just as fast

This was a great story. I loved the interaction between Lilah and Jake right from the start. It was clear that Abbie was to Jake what Sophie is to Carter, Jake just needed to wake up and see it too. Definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Second chances are not all they are cracked.up to be. Sometimes the heat and chemistry is enough to think about it, or.to just take what's being offered. Can it really be kept casual.or.do feelings get in the way. Hot and steamy with a bit of suspense added in to keep you guessing!
