Carli Hamilton is over it. She's been there, done the married thing, and has no interest in revisiting.
Strong-willed and career-driven, Carli can handle her business. With minimal help from her ex-husband, she has raised four children. Youngest daughter, Jaelyn, however, is determined to put Carli's patience to the test on a regular basis.
When Carli meets Ernie Miller, a drummer fifteen years her senior, she recognizes he's not her type by a long shot. Nevertheless, Ernie's love of music along with his captivating charm causes a magnetic energy that Carli cannot deny. Still, it's not smooth sailing, by any means.
Between the stresses of her job, dating as a single mother, and the conflicts at home, Carli manages to pull off a delicate balancing act with her life. When a nefarious incident occurs at her workplace, everyone is on edge, and the outcome leads to a shocking fallout.
As if that weren't enough, Carli's oldest daughter receives a mysterious message from someone no one seems to know. What does this person want?
After a devastating accident turns Carli's world upside down, she must lean into every resource at hand. She's always brandished might over challenges, but this time is different. Will Carli's strength be enough to save her, or will she finally crash under the weight of it all?
This book is a Great read! I loved the characters and how they all are relatable! We all have one or more of them in our lives! This book has romance, family drama, personal healing etc! I highly recommend reading Imperfect Harmony! Gayle you have done it again! Congratulations!
I fell in love with the characters in this book. I could identify people IRL who had similiar traits and moved too close for comfort LOL. This is an easy read that will leave you wanting more. I don't normally read this genre but I find this author's books like warm hugs you didn't know you needed.
A beautifully written, feel-good story that’s so easy to sink into! The characters felt warm, real and relatable like people I actually knew. Every detail brought the world to life and I’m already excited to see what comes next for Carli and her crew.
Imperfect Harmony is a thoughtful exploration of Carli, an independent and determined African American woman who navigates the demands of family, career, and romantic relationships with grit and grace. Gayle B. Williams does a thorough and insightful job of helping the reader discover Carli as a mother, daughter, friend, and partner. Readers will easily connect with the challenges of a troubled daughter, a frustrating ex, a stressful job and a complex (yet seductive) new man. Fortunately, Carli has a dynamic and steadfast crew of sister friends who have her back!. The depth of the characters' development is so reflective that Carli’s journey never ceases to captivate. Ms. Williams creates an intimate and comfortable tone with nostalgic references to classic jazz and R&B favorites throughout the novel. Imperfect Harmony is an engaging story and a great read.
This book was a good read. I enjoyed the storyline, and the characters felt very real and relatable. Reading it felt like sitting down with one of my girlfriends while she gives me the full rundown on life, the drama, the mess and the good parts too. This book is definitely worth picking up!
Loved this book! Carli’s story of juggling work, family, and romance was compelling and full of heart. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys dramatic, real-life fiction.
