Isla I’m the maid of honor at my bestie’s destination wedding. Everything is unfolding according to plan in a lush, tropical paradise.
Except the part where I had a one-night stand with the groom’s best man.
Alessio “Saint” Andriani is a whole lot more than a six-foot-two, gorgeous, muscle-bound G-spot king.
He’s also a mobster.
Not just any mobster either. Turns out, he’s the consigliere for one of the most powerful crime bosses in the Northeast. A ruthless, merciless man who always gets what he wants.
What he wants this time?
Me.
But when we touch back down in the real world, a brutal turf war explodes, and his enemies will stop at nothing to destroy him.
Now I’m caught in a dangerous game with no way out.
Except one.
Cruel Sinner is a standalone dark mafia romance with a happily ever after and no cliffhangers. Each book in the Andriani Brothers series follows a different couple on the path to their HEA.
Lora Whitney is the dark mafia romance pen name of a USA Today bestselling author. She writes morally gray, possessive alpha heroes who will do anything for the women they love.
Mafia Romance - Enemies to Lovers The Andriani Brothers gets steamier, sexier, and tastier with each brother! One night stand at a destination wedding between the maid of honor and the Mafia Don's Best Man brother his consigliere. Isla has no knowledge of Mafia life other than the movies. Alessio "Saint" knows nothing but the life. And is in charge while his brother is honeymooning, when an all out war with the Bratva breaks out and Isla his one night stand and sister-in-law's bff is caught in the line of attacks. Hot hook ups while trying to protect her, lead to uncontrollable possessive feelings. Add crazy family connections coming to light. A psycho new Pakhan. I could not put it down which says a lot considering this is my first modern day / Mafia Romance series to read. I am obsessed with the Andriani Brothers and can't wait for Lora's next ... Scorpion's story! Read the series you won't be disappointed.
I loved this book. Scarlett Scott is a very skilled writer. This book can be read alone, but I highly recommend you read book one so you have a better idea of what has went on with the Andiani brothers and Isla's best friend, Luna.
Isla went to a tropical island to be her best friend's maid of honor and finds a one-night stand. Unfortunately for her that one-night stand is her best friend's mobster brother-in-law. Isla's determined that it is only one night.
Saint hooked up with the wrong woman and now he has to deny his attraction to Isla while being her protector.
The book has well-written main and side characters . I want a book for everyone. There are twists in the plot that keep you intrigued. Very entertaining book from the beginning to the end. I am ready for the next book in the series .
⚠️ Warning: This book has bad language, violence, and is on fire.
So you think you loved Priest and Luna in Brutal Devil? "Hold my tea", says Lora Whitney, "Let me introduce you to Saint and Isla."
Saint (aka Alessio, not God, mind you) and Isla's hot holiday hook-up is the definition of "when you play with fire, you get burned." What they shared wasn't just a fire though, it was an inferno. Extreme, frantic, unfiltered, and smokin hot. It was a damn good thing that they'd never see each other again, otherwise they might be the death of each other.
Two days later... Shock turns to anger, lovers turn to enemies as their worlds once again collide revealing their true identities. The walls they let down for one night slammed right back up. And when they're forced to be together for 2 weeks is when the fun really begins.
These two clash in the very best way. Isla might be a nerd but she has a combination of innocence, boldness and resilience that Alessio can't help but be drawn to. She makes it very clear though that she wants nothing to do with his gangster a$$ and Alessio loves to remind her that she, in fact, loves his a$$. They poke, they prod, they bicker, they banter. And as the turf wars ramp up, so do their feelings. The intensity, passion and obsessive focus they have for one another has them straddling the line between love and hate. Isla begins to see the protective, thoughtful and caring person Alessio truly is. And maybe staying safe no longer appeals to her.
Three other notable moments: •Bro's Day •The Bratva goon who knows his way around handcuffs- I need his story! • And the teaser for Scorpions story
Once again, I was blown away by Lora Whitney's Mafia world and I never want to leave! Every box was checked and more boxes were added, raising the bar on what I want in a Mafia romance. It's all-consuming with ruthless Mafia dealings, blistering hot sex, teasing banter and the sweetest moments that melted my heart. To say that I'm obsessed with the Andriani's is an understatement. It's a craving, an addiction that I'm not sure will ever be satisfied!
I was honored to receive an early copy from the author (THANK YOU!) All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Cruel Sinner absolutely delivered. Isla and Saint’s story had me glued to the pages and negotiating with myself about sleep. Saint also known as Alessio depending on who he is talking to was everything. I thought I knew what I was getting after Priest and Luna, but this book said hold my drink and watch this.
I loved that Priest and Luna still had a presence. It felt like a bonus for readers who were already invested, but they never stole the spotlight. This was Isla and Saint’s show and wow did they own it.
Isla’s spitfire attitude paired perfectly with Saint’s smart mouth. Their banter was sharp, funny, and ridiculously entertaining. What starts as a no strings attached one night situation turns into something neither of them is prepared for, especially Saint. The fact that he introduces himself to Isla as Alessio instead of his nickname made their connection feel even more intimate and added such a delicious layer once everything clicks into place.
The chemistry was undeniable from their first interaction at the bar. It only intensified from there. The way Lora Whitney writes tension is chef’s kiss. Their attempt to act distant and play enemies once reality sets in was hilarious because you simply cannot fake that kind of passion. Every scene between them crackled with heat and emotion and just the right amount of humor.
This book was sexy without trying too hard, funny without being cheesy, and emotional without dragging. Isla and Saint felt real, flawed, and magnetic together. Cruel Sinner understood the assignment and then went above and beyond.
If you like romance with heat, heart, and characters who live rent free in your head, do yourself a favor and read this one. Just maybe do not start it late at night unless you are okay with losing sleep.
This story was intense. Full of suspense and a rollercoaster of events. The romance and chemistry between Isla and Saint was addicting. The banter was so funny and sweet. Well written and easy to read. But I can’t wait for the next book.
Isla has travelled to St Thomas for her bestie Luna’s wedding. Tired & also feeling down after breaking up with her fiancé & quitting her job, she heads to a bar & meets a gorgeous barman, Alessio. They hook up for a night to remember, afterall they’ll never see each other again! Imagine her reactions when she walk down the aisle & who should be the best man! Things get even better when Isla volunteers to cat sit for Luna for the duration of the honeymoon. Luna arranges for Isla to travel on the private plane with – yes you’ve guessed it & Alessio is tasked with looking after Isla until after the honeymoon. The second Andriana brother to find his HEA, it could easily be read on its own but the author weaves her magic & I’d recommend reading in order. I loved both Alessio & Isla their chemistry was off the scale but their heads & hearts were at war. There’s danger, there are surprises, there’s humour, there’s superb banter & an attraction that defies logic. Isla is a strong, intelligent woman who has a successful career, Alessio is a Mafia consigliere, he’s ruthless but it’s a different Alessio when he’s with Isla. I loved that they tried to hide their feelings but chemistry like that can’t be denied. An unputdownable book which ticked all the boxes for me & the teasers for Scorpion’s story have me waiting with bated breath I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
In this book we get to see Saint (who I found swoony in the first book) get his hard fought for HEA!!
Our main characters: Alessio “Saint” Andriani, second in command of the family Isla Davenport, BF & MOH of Luna Andriani, the Don’s (Priest) wife.
This book picks up a day or two before the end of book one at Luna and Priest’s wedding, where Saint and Isla meet at a bar but she doesn’t he is Saint (because he uses his real name Alessio). They have a night of pa$5ion and heat and go their separate ways after that. The day of the wedding rolls around and they see each other again because they are the Best Man and Maid of Honor! Oops!
This story is full of surprises (family reunions of unknown family), spicy heat (bring your fans), one moment of pew pew by the MMC and some fearsome moments (read trigger warnings). But the story, the characters, the romance, the funny moments far outweigh the few moments of fear. Rest assured there is a very satisfying HEA!!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved these characters in the first book and the author just revealed them a little bit more! Loved these characters, the push and pull of Isla and Saint, the brothers’ bickering like brothers, the angsty bits and overall the heat and spice!!
And now, I cannot wait until Scorpion’s story, which you see a bit of it in this book and it’s gonna be good!
Unbeknownst to them at the time, the pair had an explosive one night stand just days before the wedding of Priest, Alessio’s brother, and Luna, Isla’s best friend. They received the shock of a lifetime when they encountered each other in the bridal party.
Alessio and Isla could not be more different. Alessio has grown up as part of the powerful Andriani Mafia family, now serving as Priest’s consigliere. He is brash, arrogant, and ready and willing to protect his brothers at any cost. Isla is a creative writing professor from the Midwest. She is bright, idealistic, kind, and a “goody two shoes.” In other words, they are polar opposites.
Try as they might, they are unable to stay away from each other. Their interactions are sizzling and steamy. But more than that, Alessio opens his heart to Isla, even though he feels that he is not good enough for her. I could not get enough of them and did not want their story to end.
As always, we are given a sneak peek into the next book of the series, which looks to be fantastic. I read this book as an advanced reader copy.
Cruel Sinner didn’t just hook me, it tackled me, stole my breath, & left my face suspiciously flushed. Isla and Saint (or… Alessio, depending on how much trouble he’s in) have the kind of chemistry that should come with a warning label. Their first meeting? Sparks. Their banter? Weapons‑grade flirtation. Their “we’re enemies now” phase? Absolutely laughable because you cannot fake that level of heat.
Isla’s spitfire attitude & Saint’s smart‑mouthed swagger are a match made in chaotic, delicious heaven. Every scene between them crackles with tension, humor, & enough steam to fog up my Kindle. And the way he gives her his real name? My heart was doing gymnastics. The action is sharp, the humor lands, the emotions hit, and the spice… well, let’s just say Lora Whitney understood the assignment and then turned it in with extra credit. If you want a romance that’s exciting, sexy, & impossible to put down, Cruel Sinner is your next obsession. Just don’t start it at night unless you’re ready to sacrifice sleep, Saint doesn’t allow bedtime.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
OMG I loved everything about this book!! I don’t usually read mafia books but this series it’s an exception because I can’t stop reading them and Lora Whitney, aka my queen Scarlett Scott, it’s always a 5 star to me. Isla is the adorable and sweet best friend and maid of honor of Luna, the FMC from the first book in the series. She meets Alessio “Saint” Andreani in the bar of the hotel where she is staying and they spend the most wonderful night together. But she finds out later that he is not only the best man, he is also a mafia prince. She doesn´t want that life or to be involve in his world, but when the Russians try to kidnapped her, bets are off. Alessio would do anything to protect his woman, even go to war for her. I’m obsessed with these ultra-hot men and these interesting and very different women. This book is sweeter that the first one but addictive since page one. The characters are well developed, there’s action, aghast, plenty of super steamy moments and family loyalty. The chemistry between them is AMAZING, but also soooo romantic! I highly recommend this story! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Luna just found out that her fiancee was cheating on her and finds herself in St. Thomas at a bar with no romantic prospects. Isla is Luna's best friend and maid of honor at her destination wedding to Matteo Andriani. Isla meets and makes friends with the bartender, Alessio, and finds him attractive. Isla is battling with herself whether she should go for it or not. Alessio is actually Saint, Matteo's brother, Consigliere and best man. Saint convinces Isla to have dinner and joins her. They are both attracted to each other and have a one night stand with neither of them realizing they are both in the wedding.
Once Isla and Saint get over their shock, they fight their feelings for each other and try to get on with their lives but then a mob war erupts throwing Isla into danger and Saint as her protector. This well-written, page-turning, dark mafia romance is filled with suspenseful twists and turns and sexy passionate steam. Another great addition to this series. Loved it! Looking forward to Scorpion's story.
This one starts hot: a destination-wedding one-night stand that immediately turns into lovers → enemies → lovers tension—and it keeps the conflict tight from there. I really liked the awkward, tentative energy after the hookup: they don’t know how to act around each other, but they’re also clearly pulled in no matter how hard they try to resist.
Saint is the standout for me. He stays consistent as a character even while he struggles with what he wants, and he’s basically offended by his own feelings. Isla took longer to click—she’s hurt and a bit unanchored at first—but she does get a solid arc, moving from wounded and unsure to choosing Saint with real clarity, despite the danger. The historical romance easter eggs (Isla’s favorite genre and field of study) were fun, and Saint’s teasing and intentional mix-ups were genuinely sweet. High tension, strong chemistry and a satisfying payoff.
I'm loving the Andriani Brothers and up next is Alessio "Saint" and Isla story. She's at her friend's destination wedding on a tropical island. I love one night stands especially when they become complicated and Isla and Alessio are definitely that and more. She has no idea about the mafia business and can't understand her friend, Luna marring Priest Andriani, the mafia boss from Brutal Devil. I love Lora Whitney's writing and the characters she brings them to life. Isla is a broken young woman. She's fresh from a breakup, she finds herself attracted to the wrong kind of man and quickly finds herself involved with mafia business and in danger. A captivating story with wonderful characters, mafia romance filled with a few twists and turns. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this amazing romance.
Another great book by a great author and the second book in a great series – the Andriani Brothers. This book is about Saint (Alessio) and Isla. Isla is a teacher and flew to an island to be the maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding. Before she goes to the wedding she breaks up with her cheating fiancé, who was going to go to the wedding with her, so she is a little down. While she is sitting at the bar, she meets Saint who she thinks is a bartender. They spent the night together; it was hot their chemistry was hot. The next day she finds out he is part of the Mafia family, which she did not want anything to do with. I really like Saint how he is there for her, even if she does not want him to be. I can not wait for the next book in this series and I want it now. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest opinion.
The world of the Andriani brothers: hot and dangerous men with a penchant for sad women. Isla comes to the islands to stand for her best friend Luna’s wedding to Matteo (Priest). Isla is drifting after a breakup and job loss. She hooks up for a hot, sexy all nighter with the bartender. At the wedding, Isla discovers he is Alessio (Saint) the mobster brother of Priest. Isla cat sits for Luna coming under the protection of Saint. Danger surrounds them and their encounters are steamy and even romantic. Acceptance of him means the acceptance of him and the family lifestyle. Perfect second book in the series which ties all these characters together leaving a reader waiting for the next with impatience. I received an ARC but the honest opinion is my own.
From a one-night stand to enemies to lovers to a HEA, this book has it all! Add in hot-as-hell mafia brothers and plenty of suspense, and you have a story I could not put down!
I was excited to receive an ARC for this book! I thoroughly enjoyed the first installment in the series and couldn’t wait to see what these crazy brothers were up to next.
This was a true enemies-to-lovers, slow-burn story. Isla and Saint are two extremely different people with preconceived notions about each other, but when they’re forced together—and their lives are in danger—all bets are off.
The writing flowed beautifully, the spice was hot, and the supporting characters made me even more excited to continue reading this fantastic series!
The first chapter alone had me hooked and feeling like I could relate to the main FMC, Isla. Then bring in our hot, tatted, MMC, Alessio "Saint", and all of a sudden I'm swooning. The spice starts off fairly quickly in this book, and oh, is it hot!! Lora Whitney really knocked it out of the park with Cruel Sinner; in fact, I think I liked it more than Brutal Devil. If you're a mafia lover, you have to add this to your TBR immediately!! The characters are so enticing, the plot is heavy, and the steamy scenes are to die for. i cant wait to see what Whitney delivers us next.
I think I may need to reevaluate my top 10 book boyfriends because Priest (book 1) knocked out my previous number 3 but Saint (MMC of this book) may now be my new favorite. I absolutely loved the chemistry and banter from both MCs. Although I wished the MFC should have made the MMC grovel a bit for being a total a-hole. I wanted more at the ending because it seemed to take so long for them to get their HEA. Now, I’ll just have to wait for the next book. And… why is there only 3 books when there are 4 brothers, please don’t tell me something happens to Lucky.
OMG! I loved this! It's Isla & Alessio's story & it was awesome! She's Luna's BFF & is at the island for the wedding. Unfortunately, she's had a really bad break-up & other things. When she meets him, the chemistry is off the charts & they have a great night together; thinking they wouldn't see each other again. The problem? He's the best man. There's a lot going on here, & when they get back state-side she's automatically in danger. This book was awesome & the spice was fantastic! I loved the storyline!! Highly recommend this book & author!
I'm loving this series. The book reads fast because of the action but also the dialogue and chemistry between the characters. Whitney gives the reader a familiarity with the family Andriani and their partners. The dialogue is funny and heartfelt at the same time. There is some violence so check the trigger warnings, but I absolutely love this series.
If you haven't yet read @authorlorawhitney, you're missing out. Absolutely recommend giving this author a try! From the very first page, this book captivated me. Alexio (Saint) and Isla are amazing characters, and their chemistry bursts off the pages. A truly explosive read from start to finish! I can say that I love Priest and Luna, but these two are perfection 🤌🫣❤️
Loved it, this is of steamy, passion with a kidnapping thrown in, he wants her safe, she just wants. Now she is in danger, kidnapped by their enemies, can he get her back, but at what price. A price that one of them may have to pay.
Who would have thought her best friends wedding could turn out to be the sexiest thing she ever did , oh did I tell you the man she chose just happens to be a mafia mobster …. A great sexy story sparks fly a plenty .
This is what I expect in a mafia romance. Lots of mafia action mixed in with a smoking hot romance and add in lots of funny dialog/banter and you have a trifecta of a great story. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and holy cow this one burned up the pages. Alessio has pushed his way to a book boyfriend. Chef’s kiss.
love the way Scarlett Scott describes in perfect and delicious details her main male character! Alessio aka Saint is a godlike good looking, masculine alpha full of power. And I absolutely loved the way Alessio and Isla met with her calling him a god but he tells her t no not God but Alessio!! Isla is at a destination wedding for her best friend. She is the maid of honor and she accidentally meets the best man at the hotel bar. They have a hot one night stand not knowing who the are until the wedding. Saint is his equally gorgeous brother Priest, the Don of the Italian mafia. Saint and his brothers convince Priest to extend his honeymoon. He does since Saint is his consigliere. As the storyline progresses there is a lot of banter between Saint and Isla. They are still attracted to each other. But can’t act on it yet! Such an intense and action packed story of the gorgeous Andriani men. There is always something going on with the family. I extremely enjoyed this story and it’s almost like the author has always been writing mafia books! I fell in love with Alessio and Isla, everything about their story was perfect for me. I cannot wait for the next book! I was given an ARC for my honest review.
This is Lora Whitney’s 2nd book in her Andriani Brothers series, and I loved it even more than the first.
Alessio “Saint” is the 2nd older Andriani brother. He meets Isla at his family’s resort bar, while they are both attending Priest’s & Luna’s wedding (the oldest Andriani brother/book 1), before either know who they are to each other. They are hot and steamy from the moment they met and then have to deal with the fall-out - Luna is Isla’s best friend and he’s Priest’s (the oldest brother in Brutal Devil book 1) consigliere in their mob.
A lot of family secrets come out while there is a lot of fun banter between all characters. Lora is expanding the Andriani family and it’s fun meeting them all -- the old & new characters, with more to come in the future books in the series, I’m sure.
Alessio is a great MMC and you won’t be able to forget him. Although this is book 2 in the series, it can be read on its own. I do highly recommend Cruel Sinner & Brutal Devil. I’m so looking forward to the third book Cold-Blooded Capture.
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
