Alyssa has wanted two things her whole life: to be a writer, and to marry Tyler Pierce. Tyler Pierce is her brother’s best friend. He’s a bad boy, baseball player and women love him. Alyssa never thought she would catch his eye. She’s always loved him from afar. Content with that. Sort of. Until one day, Tyler returns her feelings and their relationship drastically changes. And then Tyler goes off to join the military and is deployed shortly after. He only asks Alyssa for one thing when he goes ‘Wait for Me.’ But Alyssa is left alone with her love for Tyler, broken promises, and a secret she has tried to share with Tyler, but one he has never acknowledged, leaving Alyssa to deal with everything with just her family by her side, but not the one person she really needs. The love of her life. Two years later, Tyler returns to see Alyssa graduate, and he brings along his fiancé. Crushing Alyssa to pieces. She flees to New York to work a dream internship, and Tyler returns overseas for his last year of active duty. They both return to town around the same time. One broken from the battles of war, and one broken by the wreckage of a best friends relationship. Alyssa doesn’t want anything to do with Tyler, Tyler is only a shell of the man he once was. Who will save them both and can anyone bring them back together?
This story deals with heartbreak, domestic violence and PTSD. It is not an overall dark romance. Not for readers under the age of 18 due to sexual situations and language.
https://www.facebook.com/SBAlexanderA... goes with Stacy to get a matching tattoo. The tattoo represents single mother's and domestic violence. This takes place right before Alyssa finally gets back together with Tyler.
I think this could have been a five star read if I would have been able to read the story instead of being told a story. I felt like I was reading an extended review of a book the author had read. I loved the concept of the story but i never got fully invested into the characters. There were also quite a few spots that had wrong words or no words at all and I had to stop and reword them myself.
Well it seemed this story had all the elements that would make the it my type of romance, but it just fell short. The main reason being that I didn't like the heroine, Alyssa. My biggest pet peeve are stupid female characters, and Alyssa definitely fits into that category. She annoys me to no end... and she is not the only one. The main Guy, Tyler is not any better.
This book has the typical elements of a misunderstanding without real communication which causes the central conflict. Add some stereotypical romance elements of loving the older brother's best friend, secret pregnancy and baby, military deployment, other woman, other man, cheating (not necessarily by the main characters), and second chances and you have a complete book of over the top drama and cliches.
I hate to be harsh, but I just didn't connect with the heroine and the hero did some really stupid stuff. Having conflict for the sake of conflict is not a way to tell a captivating story.
DNF. Heroine does not wait for the hero. Total turnoff. Annoying big misunderstanding, annoying reason the hero and heroine misunderstood. Annoyed the title and plot description did not match the title.
Will not read more from this author as she writes beta heroes and heroines who cheat while separated.
Why do i keep doing this to myself? There is a reason why i go through reviews before reading books, yes maybe in this case there was only a few, but by reading them i would of known not to go through with this book. They help me make sure i don't waste my time by reading crap books, urgh seriously i'm so mad. The heroine was stupid, i hate dumbass female characters! Everything could have been solved if they just communicated properly in the beginning. I don’t understand why no one ever mentioned the baby to Tyler? I mean come on, the man had dinner with Aylssa’s parents, they obviously would of spoken about Evan, or did it just slip out their minds? AND Matt knew about Tyler and Jessica’s situation so why on earth did he not say something to Alyssa, which makes no sense whatsoever!
They are so adorable, I love the main two characters of this book. The build of their relationship is amazing, after they both hurt each other (without meaning to of course) they have to rebuild the love they had, she hates it but she knows she can't fight it. She tries to lie to herself and tells herself she doesn't love him, that she's better off with some complete ass who has been cheating on her the whole time.
The way he loves her is almost heart breaking at times, she has built a wall to protect herself from him but the funny thing is she never asked him the obvious questions someone would. In the end he forms a strong relationship with their son, they adopt his dead friends daughter and they have another child on the way. They both get everything they've ever wanted. She gets to be Mrs. Pierce, he gets the woman he has loved since he was ten along their own little family.
(P.S. Sorry if this review doesn't really make sense, I was a little hyperactive.
Read this in just a few hours. I enjoyed the story. I know others have not but I have. Communication is and was the main premise of this story. On both Tyler and Alyssa's part. These two have loved each other since childhood and then one night before Tyler is set to leave he finally confesses his love and they get together. However that get together time was brief. That single night changed their lives forever but they just didn't know it until two almost three months later. There were many times I wanted Alyssa to speak up and just tell Tyler everything and the same for him but it just wasn't in the cards.
I suggest if you consider wanting to read this book then make the decision on your own and don't let the reviews sway you not to. It was a sweet story of young love.
I liked this love story only because it wasn't your typical one. Young love being torn apart by miscommunication and the curve life throws at you. Love that was meant to be, it just took a little longer to get there. Only 4 stars because some parts had bad grammar mistakes.
Wait for Me by Shannon Alexander was a solid second chance romance book. The storyline was well thought out and had lots of depth and emotion. The characters had tons of history & chemistry which made this book that much better. Throw in a baby that the daddy didn't know about and you have a pretty great book!!
This book had me on an emotional roller coaster. You will experience everything from betrayal, to jealousy, hatred, and love. This story is about fate, miscommunication and over all love above all circumstances. I would have given the book 5 stars but having to reread some sentences when words were missing or misplaced words is what made it a 4 star in my book.
I enjoyed this book the writing was a bit choppy at times but the plot I loved Tyler and Lyss loved each other since they were kids but there were always obstacles in there way so the angst was high but I love angsty books and HEA so this book was good 4 stars!!
If you're looking for a romance with a HEA this is it. This book will make you want to hit both main characters in the head with a 2x4. Talk about miscommunication! These two are the King and Queen. It is a fairly quick read with an obvious outcome, but I enjoyed it
I really liked this book from the beginning until the end. There were some words misspelled but other then that I enjoyed the story of these people people.
Great foundation for this story, however the story needed more details. Tyler and Alyssa were very stubborn, hardheaded and lovable. Really enjoyed the epilogue.
this book was perfect. beautifully written. Great characters and storyline. couldn't put it down. want to read more by her. so definitely recommending it.
This book is a multiple times read type of book for me. I just really liked it and after searching for it all day yesterday I found it and just bought it because then I’ll always have it. My only issue, and maybe I didn’t notice this before or the version was changed, there were a lot of grammatical errors. To the point that i had to re read to make sure I was understanding what was being said.
Anyhow, Alyssa has ALWAYS loved Tyler and didn’t think he loved her back. Finally finally he reciprocated her feelings and after they have sex he tells her he is leaving for the Navy the next day. She is heartbroken and promises to wait for him. She finds herself pregnant after that night and tries to tell him, he never gets the message and thinks she needs things. Basic story of miscommunication and finding your way back to the one you belong with. I love it
This was a great read. I have been wanting to read it for a while. I read some of the reviews but still chose to read it. The grammatical errors are few and who cares really. It’s not like we can’t figure out what it is supposed to say. I didn’t feel rushed or bored with the story. It was great really. I highly recommend this book.
The idea of this book was good. However, there were too many errors that took away from the story.
Some mistakes were editing issues, others were timeline and some were just out of left field.
One example, without giving away any spoilers....the main h has an inner conversation with herself wondering what would happen to baby x because of a previous event. The main problem with this is that up to that point of the story, the h had never once heard any explanation and or info to be having these inner ramblings/explainations with herself.
Maybe with a good edit and some restructuring, it could be much better, but for now it remains 2*'s for me.
* side note.... The cover absolutely does not match the book. No where in the story is it ever mentioned that the h has tattoos. In fact, she is almost too prim and proper to ever get one; for the most part, she is a rule follower. Just my two cents, but one of my biggest pet peeves (when the covers do not match the story)! *
This story pulls you in from the first page. I smiled and frowned so many times cause I never knew what the next page would tell. Alyssa and Tyler shaved loved each other all their lives but it took one night to admit it and then he was gone. Tyler didn't have the opportunity to go college so the NAVY was his chance. When Alyssa discovers that there is still a piece of Tyler around she tries to tell him and this is the start of the emotional coaster. I loved this story I could feel every emotion. We have great characters and I hope Stacy and Matt have their story. Awesome job.
