A very underwhelming account of the birds of India. Personally, I started bird watching only a few years ago with no training and just wikipedia as my guide. I purchased this book as a go-to-guide for identifying the rich variety of birds in the subcontinent. However, the book doesn't feature a long list of birds with complete elimination of Himalayan Pheasants, North East and the Andaman Archipelago amongst others. Even significant birds like Monal, Great Indian Bustard, Barn Owl, Great Hornbill and Narcondam Hornbill are missing. A lot of the content seems like half researched work where best places to find the particular bird are mentioned as widely spread. No, most of them are not widely spread Amano.

Overall please give this book a miss.
