A disgraced influencer. Her brother's best friend. A secret video that could ruin everything…
Naomi
When scandal crashed my influencer career, I escaped to Faraday Island—supposedly to hide at my estranged brother's resort. The truth? I'm chasing the ghost of a night I shared with his best friend, Sam.
But Sam's less than thrilled to see me. He's convinced our relationship could cost him everything he's worked for. I agree to keep us a secret, desperate to reignite that flame.
As we sneak around the island, stealing kisses and sending steamy texts, I find myself falling for the man behind the resort mogul facade. There's just one I'm sitting on explosive footage of our first encounter.
In a place where everyone knows everyone's business, how long can I keep this video—and my growing feelings—under wraps? And if the truth comes out, will it destroy the new life I'm building, or become the foundation for something real?
Press Play is a swoony, slow-burn escape featuring a loyal resort GM with hidden depths, a fallen influencer out for a second chance, and chemistry that doesn’t know how to behave.
Indulge in the fourth standalone novel in the Off-Limits Lovers series, where paradise becomes the backdrop for love stories that break all the rules—and sometimes, get caught on camera.
This was definitely my favorite of the series. I loved Sam and Naomi. This story of secret lovers, best friend's little sister, brother's best friend, found family, was very moving at times.
When the characters finally realized their true worth and the importance of those that truly know and love us, it was very satisfying for this reader.
The flirting between shy Sam and more adventurous Naomi is fun and the spiciness is great. Definitely worth the read.
I loved Sam and Naomi’s story so much!!! I knew San was going to be my favorite because he’s the most relatable having come from nothing unlike the rest of the guys. He has so many deep rooted feelings of not being good enough because of the class differences but he finds his match in Naomi who equally has feelings of inadequacy for different reasons. Bravo!
A tantalizing forbidden love story with the ultimate HEA! There are so many tropes in this one including being a billionaire romance, close proximity, and forbidden love. When the MMC falls for his best friend’s little sister, and the feelings are mutual, they’re reeled into a whirlwind of emotions, secrets, and trying to find normalcy. While some parts were a bit predictable to me, this book still kept me engaged and needing to know more.
With almost 800,000 followers, influencer Naomi is about to launch the biggest partnership she’s had so far. Her entire life is curated online and her image is everything to her. When she’s working on a speed dating post, she is stunned to be face to face with none other than her brother’s good friend and business partner - as well as guy she had a crush on growing up - Sam. He’s even better looking now than the last time she saw him a decade prior.
Island resort general manager Sam feels an outsized need to prove himself capable and responsible. As a workaholic he rarely takes time for even a lunch break, generally eating at his desk or missing meals entirely. When some clients insist he attend a speed dating event in Austin, Texas because he never dates, he reluctantly flies to the mainland to attend. When his very first dating prospect is his best friend’s baby sister, (who he’s been warned away from repeatedly growing up) he’s shocked but approves highly of the poised, grown woman before him.
As the speed dating event comes to a close, Naomi insists upon showing Sam “her” town, and they end up spending several hours visiting her favorite taco joints, pairing the delectable creations with wine and cerveza. A little tipsy, Naomi convinces Sam to go to her home, where they proceed to engage in everything but full on p in v activity. They agree it will be kept just between them, and he returns to his duties at the resort.
Six weeks later, Naomi arrives at the resort to stay out of the public eye after a PR nightmare involving child labor with the company she’d partnered with. She’s also got a confession to make to Sam, and while he’s initially appalled, it unleashes a facet of his personality that he never explored, but decides to pursue with Naomi while she’s in close proximity.
There were a couple of elements here that I really liked, but several things didn’t hit right: Dom making threats to everyone about his 33 year old sister was mad cringe, as an example, secondly Sam being so tightly focused and controlled in his professional life, one would think he’d want to have someone dominate him as a release, not the other way around, but I suppose that’s accomplished by Naomi absolutely steamrolling him with her “persuasive” tactics that are more like red flags, tbh. Also how is it possible that a man who is successful and possesses the physical attributes Sam does has been nearly celibate for ages despite being in a literal paradise with beautiful and wealthy patrons staying at his resort? Finally, the violation of his privacy that Naomi committed the very first time they were intimate is just gross, especially given the very real horrors of revenge porn postings. I understand it was a means to an end but yikes. It would be a deal breaker for most people, I’d think.
I received an advance reader copy from the author and bookfunnel, and I’m sharing my honest opinion.
Scandalous Lover is the fourth, and I believe the final book in Townsend's Off-Limits Lovers series, spicy romances that feature one of the owners of The White Sands Resort and their forbidden love interest. I delayed reading this one right away as I'm not ready to say goodbye to this series.
This best friend's sister, (small) age gap book features Sam Griffin and Naomi Fuentes, Dominic's little sister (read Secret Lover for his story). Sam has watched his three best friends and co-owners of the White Sands resort meet their perfect match. While happy for them, he is also envious; he wants that for himself. But finding his perfect match seems near impossible to Sam given his meager beginnings and what he feels he has to offer.
When Sam meets Naomi at a speed dating event in Austin, TX, he is instantly captivated. She is not at all what he expected. While he hasn't seen her in years, he sees the woman she's grown into. She's not the spoiled rich girl he expected. She's confident, vivacious, level-headed, perceptive, insightful, and absolutely gorgeous. Recognizing that Naomi is his best friend's little sister, he tries to demonstrate self-control but she is a bit of a vixen. The two end up spending a very spicy night together which unexpectedly felt right to them both.
Naomi works as an influencer. She has shared her life online and has a large following. Her image is her life's work so when a partnership she carefully curated explodes leaving her dealing with a PR nightmare, she decides to get away from everything and visit the White Sands. She needs to lie low for awhile, and not post anything until the dust settles. She's hoping to rise from the ashes, like a phoenix, but remaining off her phone, and not snapping photos, is a difficult habit to break.
While at the resort, Naomi endeavours to convince Sam that they could be great together. While Sam sees what they could have, he feels caught between a rock and a hard place. If he admits his feelings, he risks losing everything - his job, his friends, his purpose. But if he doesn't, he will lose her. It seems like an impossible ask. She's everything he ever wanted and she could be his perfect match.
Both Naomi and Sam have work to do on themselves. They need to ask the tough questions and face the truth, not the stories they've been telling themselves.
I thoroughly enjoyed Sam and Naomi's story although I could have done without their secret. #iykyk IRL, that could have played out very differently. Setting that aside though, this was another deliciously spicy romance with a HEA and closed out the series beautifully.
I was introduced to Townsend through this series which I have truly loved. I'm keen to see what she has coming next. I'm certain it will not disappoint!
☀️Small town ☀️Billionaire ☀️Office ☀️Brother’s best friend/Best friend’s little sister ☀️Age Gap ☀️Forced proximity ☀️Forbidden love ☀️Speed dating gone right ☀️Moving to paradise ☀️One night stand ☀️She’s the rich one
Scandalous Lover is the fourth book in in Off-Limits Lovers series. This series follows the sexy billionaire owners of The White Sands Resort and their forbidden love stories. A captivating novel filled with a complex storyline and intense romance, Scandalous Lover explores family relationships, second chances, forbidden love, age gap, power dynamics, and passionate encounters.
Naomi has just suffered a major setback after she is involved in a scandal. Feeling rejected by her community, she escapes to Faraday Island to stay with her estranged older brother at his tropical resort, seeking comfort and solace. There, she meets Sam, a man with whom she shared a passionate night. They assume that their one-night stand will remain their secret, but Sam is less than thrilled to see her. Despite initial reluctance from Sam, who believes that being together would jeopardize the resort's business, they agree to keep their relationship a secret, rekindling their bond. As time passes, they find themselves developing feelings beyond a casual connection. Sam is afraid to love and fears he may not be good enough for Naomi. Naomi, on the other hand, is full of surprises with many layers, making her a fascinating character. I appreciate how their personal growth was explored and the intensity of their relationship, as both Sam and Naomi learn more about themselves through their connection. The storyline delves into the challenges they face as they navigate a world that threatens their love and future.
This is the fourth in the Off-Limits Lovers series by Lore Townsend, I’ve now read them all. Every time I was like, oh, this one, this one is the best, but then she outdoes herself.
Scandalous Lover is about Sam and Naomi, they have a one night almost fling that they think will just be their little secret. Until Naomi’s life implodes and the only place she has to run is Faraday Island, the resort Sam co-owns with Avery, Ben and Dom, (Naomi’s brother).
Sam is the last single man standing, not only does he not believe he’s good enough to have a forever love, he’s terrified it might just be Naomi. And that Dom will kill him or fire him.
Naomi, for all her façade of confidence, just doesn’t believe anyone could or would ever love her for her. Mainly because no one has ever fought for her.
I just fell in love with both of them and their love story. Oh, and Fran, she is the epitome of a wingwoman let me tell you. Sam is a complete cinnamon roll, until he isn’t, and then, hello did it get really hot in here? Naomi is playful and completely comfortable with her body and her sexuality, just not her emotions. That’s what the two of them have to work through.
All The Emotions! It made laugh, giggle, cry, yell, I wanted them to get their happy ever after so badly. And they do, and the way Lore writes it, *sigh*, is all the tearful, feel good, finallys I could ever ask for in a book. Wow, I said a lot of really good things about a book I love, and yet, if you want to know what happens, you’re going to have to read it!
When I scrolled through the list of new books, this one caught my attention. The blurb/description looked promising. Well let me start off by saying that this book did not disappoint me at all! I've definitely found a new author to add to my reading list. Oh WOW! Like all romance books, they promise a HEA (happily ever after). Lore Townsend did a fine job with the character development and exposing their insecurities from beginning to the end. I was hooked from the very beginning & couldn't put it down. Needless to say, but I finished the story in short order. Naomi & Sam are very different from each other in many ways, yet they seemingly fit together so well. What I didn't expect was to be blindsided by the ending (i.e., last 9-10 chapters). I won't ruin your own reading pleasure along with the spoilers because it is SO worth reading all the moments making you laugh so hard as well as cry your eyes out so much you have to pause reading to grab your box of Kleenex. Although this can be read as a standalone book, I can't wait to go back and read the first 3 books. Happy reading, trust me this one is worth reading again and again! I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. I both owned a copy & received an advance review copy for review. All opinions expressed are my own.
So this book definirely drew me in from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down and I really didn’t want too. So in this book we find our leading lady Naomi who we discover is an influencer with over 800,000 followers. She is about to land a big deal that will officially put her on the map. One night when she goes speed dating for her channel she sits down across from him. Sam, one of her brother’s best friends. They end up spending the night together - one night and forget - they promised, their secret a secret which no one else would ever find out about.
Eventually Naomi’s life suddenly implods and she heads off to the island where her brother and Sam own a resort on. She decides to spend time there and pursue Sam if he will let her. But the question is will Sam drop his guard and let her in? Or will Sam turn her down like a hot potatoe?
This book was adorable in a sexy kind of way. King of a slow burn but with spice at the same time. (You have to read it to understand.) I have loved this series so much. I’m so sad to see it end but I cannot wait to see what Lore has in store for future books.
Sam and Naomi are perfect together. Naomi’s wild side brings Sam out of his shell. I feel like their relationship also made the friend group so much closer in the end. I hate that Sam feels so unworthy as a person because he didn’t grow up with money.
Naomi is a wild card. She’s spontaneous and full of surprises. Especially when it comes to Sam. She knew exactly what she wanted as soon as she was him.
I wish Dom wouldn’t been come protective and threatening towards same even if they are best friends. I love a good brothers pissed at best friend and then gets over it read. 🤣 maybe I’m a little crazy. But it was also nice to see Dom fully trust and accept Sam with Naomi.
This series of full of spice. I highly recommend you giving it a try. They can be read as standalone but I truly suggest you starting with book one.
Naomi's life takes a turn for the worse when she unwittingly finds herself involved in an online scandal. as a content creator this is life altering for her. Hurt and shamed, she runs to her big brother who is living on an island and is part owner of a luxury resort .... But is she running to her brother or to Sam, her brothers best friend who 6 months prior they shared a passionate night together.
At first Naomi really annoyed me, she seemed so shallow and manipulative, but as the story progresses we go on a journey of self discovery with her. I absolutely loved her development of a character, of her finding herself and the strength to be who she wanted to be. Of forming real friendships and learning that she is worthy of both real friends and love. Then there's Sam, my heart broke for him towards the end. Sam who had his own struggle, who too felt second best and unworthiness. Sam who was willing to give everything he thought he wanted away for the woman he loved.
This was beautifully written, with amazing character development, the right amount of spice and a happy ending.
Naomi and Sam’s story was AMAZING!!! When I first started this book, I was not sure if I was even going to like Naomi. She was the stereotypical "Instagram Influencer" that grates on my nerves LOL. Then enters Sam and you get a glimpse of the real Naomi. The spark between them is instant and undeniable and she and Sam had me hooked from there! By chapter 4 they had me blushing, by the end of chapter 6 the tears came, and by chapter 13 my jaw was on the floor! Once I started, I could not put it down! I am the kind of reader that uses the end of chapters as stopping points but with this one that was impossible! At the end of every chapter the author had you needing to continue to the next one throughout the entire book!!!
I loved everything about this book, the characters, the storyline, the spice, the plot, ALL OF IT!! This is the first book by Lore Townsend that I have read, and I can say I am definitely a fan! This book is part of a series but having read only this one I can tell you that it can also be read as a standalone. I can't wait to read the rest of this series!

I love Sam and Noami! She is her for her satisfaction and does not care what others think; and Sam is more than happy to help her get there!
Scandalous Lover was so good! We finally get Sam's story, and it doesn't disappoint!!
What you get..... ♡Brother’s Best Friend ♡Best Friend's Little Sister ♡Age Gap ♡Forced Proximity ♡Forbidden Love ♡Speed Dating Gone Right ♡Chemistry Off the Charts 🔥 ♡Moving to Paradise ♡One Night Stand ♡She’s the Rich One ♡DIY Sexy Videos ♡Cinnamon Roll MMC ♡Obsessed ♡Spicy Scenes 🔥🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵
Naomi and Sam have sizzling chemistry, but Sam pushes back on a relationship due to being Dom's best friend. He finally gives in to his urges, and they both have amazing growth throughout their story.
I was so happy to be back on Faraday Island with the whole crew. It's good to see how our favorite characters are doing.
Lore does an amazing job at sucking you into her stories and making you love her characters. You get spice, plot, and great character development! I hope we get more from this group and other characters we have met!
Dual POV, Spicy, Brother's Best Friend, Forced Proximity, Forbidden Romance, Influencer FMC, Age Gap
Scandalous Lover is a brother's best friend romance featuring an MMC who thrives on being of use to those around him and running The Sands Resort and an FMC who recently had her influencer identity withered away as she deals with the fallout of a scandal. Together Sam and Naomi navigate their attraction to each other despite the forbidden nature on the tropical island where escaping the other proves to be nearly impossible. I really enjoyed the character growth both Sam and Naomi undergo throughout the novel. Sam's journey is especially relatable as he comes to terms with the way he's impacted those around him by doing more than just providing acts of service to them. Townsend handled Naomi's brother/Sam's best friend finding out about their relationship in a way haven't read before in a brother's best friend novel before.
I was so ready for Sam's turn at love after seeing him in the previous 3 books. I was not prepared for how much responsibility he placed on himself and how he held himself to a higher standard than his friends. With their relationships, he was the voice of reason and provider of insight and compassion. It is their turn to be that for him.
This time I was not exactly sure who would be the scandalous lover - it could have been Sam or Naomi, which I found interesting.
I enjoyed returning to their beautiful island and exploring from a new dynamic. I can respect Sam's need to keep his work and home life separate, but as he finds, walls like that also cause their own problems.
Hoping for more trips back to the island even though all 4 owners have their own love stories.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Holy hell, this was a perfect spicy romance! Wonderful balance of steam, plot, and character development, and very well written. My second Lore Townsend book and they've both been great!
I adored these characters. I must admit, I didn't like Naomi at first, but as her story unfurls, you can't help but adore her and her journey.
Sam is a gold star keeper that can do no wrong in my eyes. Even with the dreaded miscommunication, it is understandable and resolved quickly.
And the spice? Holy hell. Pretty much right out the gate it is gonna leave you panting *and* you get the slow burn, tension build up with the 'everything-but' scenarios. And the outdoor shower scene? That will live in my brain forever.
Scandalous Lover is book 4 in the Off Limits Lovers series. You can read this as a standalone but I absolutely recommend starting the series from the beginning. Characters from the previous books appear here and I have always been wondering about the mysterious, sexy and inconspicuous general manager of the White Sands Resort.
Island life at its best, two lost and lonely souls, instant attraction, scandal, best friends little sister, cell phone obsession, family and friends and a fantastic, emotional and heartfelt ending. I think Scandalous lover is my favorite.
Do not miss the bonus epilogue by clicking the link at the end of the book. It should not be missed!
Naomi is a dedicated influencer who truly gives her all. She travels to a resort owned by her brother and Sam, where she appears more relaxed and authentic compared to her life at home. There’s a special bond between her and Sam, filled with happiness and a shared secret, as they genuinely like each other. However, Sam is hesitant to pursue anything further, given that her brother is his friend and coworker, and he was cautioned to keep his distance from her since childhood. Naomi, on the other hand, longs for a romantic relationship with Sam. Her brother has warned everyone at the resort to stay away from his sister entirely. Sam feels anxious about dating Naomi, while her brother envisions her with a husband and family. I absolutely adore the excitement in this book—it's so charming!
This book is part of the Off-Limits Lovers series. It is also my first foray into the world of Lore Townsend. After reading this book I want to dive right back into this world for a whole weekend! I loved the whole vibe of the book! The backdrop, the story and all of the characters. Sam, the MMC, makes me think of what a cinnamon roll type is. (Not sure if this is true since I am not sure what a cinnamon roll type is) I love how we see the different sides of Naomi, the FMC. Actually we are able to see the different sides of both Sam and Naomi. We see the face they show to the world and the real them when they can be themselves. Thank you, Lore Townsend, for such a wonderful read. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in the series and any other books you have written.
Well written, ful of drama, heart, heat, steam, love, family, betrayal and twists. Naomi is looking for something that has been missing in her life- love. When her mother dies, her father and brother are to busy to see her or ever react to her and her feelings. Her brother , Dom, owns a resort on an island with hie friend, Sam. Sam is visiting near her for business and see Naomi and ends up having a fantastic time with her. After that night together they go different ways. Now her business is in trouble and having lots of issues. She heads for Dom's resort to hide and recover and runs into Sam. Again there is lots of hot steamy scenes between them. Has lots of feelings for both, action and steam. Would recommend to others.
I received this story and leave this unbiased, honest review.
Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. This was so much more than a falling for your brother's best friend romance. Story deals with some pretty painful issues like self-esteem, feeling unwanted/unloved as a child, hints of possible abuse that hit all my emotional buttons. The start was a little stilted for me and Naomi came across as someone with boundary issues but the story definitely gets better as it progresses and you start to understand Naomi's psyche. Sam has his own baggage and issues to overcome and you can't help but feel for him. What starts out as a for now escape becomes so much more and ends on a sweet, steamy HEA.
Damn, I loved this book. I ended up liking it so much more than I thought I would. Naomi was going through a tough time and Sam's resort offered her an opportunity to lay low for awhile. They both couldn't forget their time together and stay away from eachother either. Sam was so scared that being with her meant he had to lose everything he had built for a decade and his friends but he couldn't deny their connection. They both felt less than everyone else in their lives. It was heartbreaking. They had to communicate better with the people in their lives and change their mindset. They deserved to happy, same as anyone else. It was a very emotional book and I just adored it
I love this series so much. I always say the one I just read is my new favorite. Now I for sure can’t pick a favorite resort owner. Sam and Naomi’s vulnerability in this book and the way they just knew what the other needed was amazing. My poor Sam, this book had a much more emotional ending than the others but I’m so glad it went the way it did! The way Dom handles the news was amazing and I loved the warning Sam gave him back. As always, Lore’s writing is steamy and spicy and all the hot words. This series will always be an auto-recommendation for anyone looking for a steamy, billionaire, forbidden, contemporary romance!
As a primarily dark romance reader... I enjoy a good contemporary billionaire romance. Especially ones that make me feel ALL of the feelings.
First off, who doesn't love when the rich one is the woman? Especially a fierce woman! Both Naomi and Sam are such relatable characters, just wanting to find happiness and fulfillment in their lives. The internal struggles they have in feeling like they are enough is one I know I have fought with myself.
I can't tell you the number of times I caught myself smiling, crying, and laughing throughout this book.
Honestly - I got this as an ARC and I LOVED it. Lore Townsend always brings the spice, but this one is so much more.
I started out not liking the FMC, Naomi. I thought she was too quick to act & unrelatable. I thought about DNF-ing on this alone, but I’m SO glad I persevered because her character growth is AMAZING. I loved it.
The MMC, MAN! I was intrigued by him from the beginning and I’m so glad I finally got to meet him! Sam is a little ball of “put others first always” mixed with these amazing emotions that I wasn’t expecting.
I cried the last 5% - 10% of this book. I 100% recommend. I loved it. I want more & im so sad to see the Off-Limits series come to an end.
This entire series has been an absolute pleasure to read!
If you are looking for a dark extremely smutty read, this is not for you… smut there is aplenty, relatable story is there too… Sam is a cinnamon roll who doesn’t realise what an amazing human he is…
Beautifully written and a pleasure to go along for the ride… all of the other players from earlier books in this series continue to engage, however should you so wish it can be read as a standalone, but please don’t deny yourself the entire series💕🥰😘
This was my first time diving into Lore Townsend. I have purchased books previously, but when I was given the opportunity to be an ARC reader, I jumped at the opportunity, and boy am I glad I did. The story is amazing, and there is something about respecting someone's boundaries that just does it for me. I love off limits romance, but this was something different. Are you ready to dive into a romance that leaves you guessing and wanting more as you turn every page? This is definitely the story for you!!
OMG this was another MARVELOUS story. It is mind blowing. It was a page turner and the suspense was intense. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. Sam and Naomi chemistry was sexual tension and the physical attraction between them was sensation of hotness and spicy. This romance was forbidden love affair and the temptation was strong and they couldn’t resist one another. I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones
I've been loving this series, and Sam and Naomi's story was another great addition. The best-friend's sister trope is always a fun one!
I adored Sam and Naomi together. Both of them were insecure about their place in the world, for different reasons, and I liked that Sam was not this completely confident, no-nonsense guy. He had just as many insecurities and questions as Naomi. Maybe more.
Enjoyed seeing all the other characters we had met in the previous books. They're a fun group, and ridiculously supportive of one another. It's sweet.
