2.5-3.0 There was a lot in this one. (Possible spoilers ahead)
Clare (h) has been mated (not fated) to Henry for 5 years. She had a miscarriage and on the same day, saw Henry with his arms around OW and a child. Clare hasn’t said anything, but the book opens with Henry wanting to end their mating bond.
They go the next day and reject each other. Henry wants to keep everything on the down-low for now. So…Clare will remain Luna for a bit. 🤷♀️ (the timeline is a little murky)
At the same time, Clare is getting anonymous texts basically saying stuff like *5 more hours left*, almost like a countdown.
We get Ryan’s (H) POV. We know 7 years earlier, he met Clare (he was 15. Clare was 18) and he fell in love with her. He even announced one day he would marry her. 🙃 We know Ryan is the KING of the North Alphas. Big man. He has always kept his identity a secret, though. Ryan knows all about Henry cheating on Clare. He also suspects that Henry is the evil person who is modifying wolves’ DNA, turning them into beasts. (Ryan is the one who was sending anonymous texts to Clare)
Clare and Ryan reunite on the day of her “divorce,” and both instantly know they are fated mates. 😱😱 so yeah, complicated. The next day, Clare finds out she’s pregnant with Henry’s baby. So now it’s really complicated
Ryan has made it very clear he wants Clare!
Now, Henry, being the 💩 man we all knew he was, he doesn’t like ANY man showing attention to Clare, especially Ryan.
I have to admit that I started skimming some. There was so much going on. The two men kept fighting.
Henry made me want to kick him in his balls while wearing steel-toed boots. 🥾
We find out Clare is a white wolf and now Henry really really really wants her back. Ryan will spend a lot of time trying to win Clare’s trust and keep her safe. He doesn’t even care she’s pregnant with Henry’s baby.
War is breaking out, Clare gets injured, and Ryan takes her back to his palace. That’s where she finds out he’s the KING. She also meets the OW he was engaged to (it’s not a huge issue because Ryan ended it with her. They were friends)
Clare and Ryan don’t have tons of miscommunication in this book. They DO actually talk and don’t jump to crazy conclusions all the time.
Naturally, Henry is the one who was messing with wolves and their blood/DNA. He’s making an army of brainless killing machines because he wants to be the ruler of all.
At one point, we are led to believe that Henry killed Ryan. Henry takes Clare captive. She’s there a couple of days, then finally “feels” Ryan. We have the showdown, and I have to say, I was glad to see Henry put down like garbage. Yessss!
Supposedly, when Ryan died, Clare’s white wolf spirit went into his body and healed him. 🤪
Clare has the baby, and Ryan is right there to support her. He claims the baby as his.
It wasn’t until the last page that I realized this book wasn’t even spicy. So…..if you like books with lots of action and low spice, then you’ll probably like this.
I’ve read a lot of this author’s shifter books. She does do an amazing job at keeping her shifter books fresh with plot lines. Also, she’s not afraid to give the evil people a great comeuppance.

It’s Real, It’s Raw… It’s Full of Heart

In this book you will find there are many kinds of love …
… love of a mate, one that’s protective and puts himself/herself in danger when necessary
… love of power and prestige needing control, thus using abilities to lie and manipulate to obtain that power
… love of revenge, acknowledgement, and of needing to validate oneself
At times this will be gritty, raw and frustrating. At other times it will be heart wrenching but also heartwarming. There’s true love that would give everything to have and protect a mate. Then there’s love that allows revenge, power and prestige to easily replace a mate.
So if you like reading pages full of emotion, drama and love… as well as betrayal, revenge and angst, don’t be surprised if you stay up reading into the wee hours of the morning .

… Loved how this book grabbed my attention at the very beginning. It was plot driven and didn’t use filler pages of open door intimacy.
…I removed a star due to some profanity… there’s a difference between foul language and profanity. It wasn’t often but totally unnecessary.
… To not give spoilers, let’s just say Henry has a strong hatred toward the King of the South. I wanted more depth into that Southern King and especially wanted to ‘see’ his face when he realizes who his real enemy is. Wanted to see what comes to his mind when he comes face to face with Henry. As said: pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before the fall.
… Can’t justify Henry’s actions, but after knowing his background it’s easier to understand him and almost feel sorry for him.
… The DNA modification program reminded me of today’s headlines.
… Clara is one stubborn white wolf, frustratingly so at times. Ryan is one of a kind.
… What happened to Henry’s self-absorbed Grandma Sophia? How about Emily and her young daughter, Lily? How about his mother?.

This paranormal wolf-shifter romance definitely surprised me with its unique take on the secret-baby trope. Instead of the usual setup, the story throws you straight into a complicated dynamic involving two men who want to claim the heroine — her husband and her fated mate. It took me a little while to understand how everything fit together, but once the pieces clicked, the story became genuinely engaging.
The plot is refreshingly different for the genre, and the characters are well developed and compelling. I especially appreciated how the emotional tension slowly grew once the relationships and backstory were clear. By the time the romance truly took off, it felt absolutely worth the initial confusion.
That said, one thing that didn’t work for me was the power imbalance between the male and female characters. It felt unnecessary for the plot and sometimes a bit over the top, which pulled me out of the story here and there.
Aside from that, this is a unique and enjoyable shifter romance with strong character work and an unconventional twist on a familiar trope. Definitely worth reading if you want something different in the paranormal romance space.

Great read
I sacrificed sleep to finish this. I had to know how it would end. Henry is H1, you'll love to hate him. Clara is the h that goes through a roller-coaster of events. Ryan is H2 that you'll just love. Clara has life changing event after life changing event happen with little to no breathing room in between. I mean, so much going on. She rolls with it and through sheer force of will endures it all and becomes stronger showing what a great, strong Luna she is. Ryan is everything you want in both a book boyfriend and Alpha King. Their chemistry and story is action packed and full of so much for them to deal with...but they do together. If you want to read a book with Evil OM (H1) causing OM drama, a few gut punch moments, Evilish OW (H1 mistress), Super awesome H2, betrayal, h finding her own strength, this checks off all the blocks. I look forward to reading more from this author.

A suspenseful and hopeful shifter story. The hero alpha isn't afraid of showing his emotions and fighting for what he wants. The heroine is also an alpha who has the maturity and drive to admit when something is wrong and confront it honestly. I loved her actions towards her pack, her enemies, and her love. This is the first book in this series. A female wolf mated to her alpha and was betrayed. Their bond broken but he wouldn't let her leave. Another alpha wolf from a neighboring country has come to claim her. There is much more going on. Just know that the book was very interesting and with curves of intrigue that at one point I was thinking that I picked the wrong alpha to root for.

Hard not to get into this book! It swept you into the story right away.
Hard to know who was going to be the hero in the story. Glad it ended how it did.

Great book. Paranormal romance is my goo to and I absolutely loved this book. Anything to do with wolf's and babies are the best. Gertty really beings the world to life. Your entrenched into their reality and pulled into the amazing relationship this author creates for her readers.

Found this story on Facebook ad it sound good so I bought it and this is the first book of this author that i have read and loved it. So much is going on that kept me reading to find out what is happening how they deal with everything and love the ending. Look forward to reading more of her books.
