Decades ago, the Dawnlight cult burned outside Shadow Bay and took its secrets with it. Now the symbols are back, teenagers are vanishing, and a viral true-crime influencer has convinced the internet the cult never died. Chief Shauna Peterson has one summer to find the truth along back roads that lead to people she thought she could trust—before federal agents and online chaos turn her town into a war zone.

He lives in upstate New York with his partner and their dog, spends too much money on books and guitars, and is a member of the Mystery Writers of America.
I didn't realize when I began reading this book that I had read the first one in the series. The characters where definitely recognizable. The main characters are so well defined that I could recognize them without knowing I was reading another in the series beforehand. I love it that the author of did not lean on an enormous amount of repetition or unnecessarily continue with reminders of the emotional baggage that Emma and Shauna carry. Great series. I'm doubling back for #2!
Another great reat from Shadow Bay books. - love that we are venturing the cult side; - at 30% of the book it was already my favorite of all 3; - Mister perfect Nelson still there, god love him; - Emma maybe following in her mommas footsteps?
Did expect at some point the culprit. However, it got turned around and didn't think it was "said person" & then turned out to be that person haha
