However, Sophie's aspirations for turning the old and dilapidated Victorian mansion into a bookstore begin to turn into a nightmare. As the leaves turn colors and the seasons change, so does Sophie's feelings toward renovating the house. Eerie events begin to crawl out of the woodwork and when a séance during a Halloween party proves dangerous, she knows that something has to be done.

The feminine urge to open a bookshop? Check! To purchase a spooky old Victorian home and renovate it? Check! A perfect cozy ghostly tale just in time for spooky season? This really checked all the boxes for me and got me into the spirit of Halloween. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a good cozy ghost story this fall!

I really enjoyed The Apparition!

The author’s writing beautifully sets the scene, blending suspense, atmosphere, and emotion. I loved the relationship between Sophie and her grandmother, and how the story weaves Sophie’s personal journey—confronting painful memories from her past—alongside the eerie, mysterious events in the house, highlighting her strength and resilience.

All the elements of a cozy horror experience are here! The Apparition is a haunting, heartfelt story I’d highly recommend to anyone who enjoys ghost stories with warmth and some clever twists.
