This was one of my anticipated reads for the year and to say am disappointed is putting it mildly. I love the Bridge Kingdom series, the characters, the politics, the plot and the romance is so good in the first three books but reading The Endless War didn't feel the same.
The book starts off really well. I was so curious to know about Devil's Island and how Keris and Zarrah reunite. But nearing the 35% mark and I found the plot to be dragging and the pacing to be immensely slow. I thought to myself that maybe things will pick up in the second half, or specifically when Keris and Zarrah get to each other. Yeah, it never happened. The pacing was slow throughout the book.
The plot had me confused, not cause it's difficult to understand or anything like that but cause of the way it was executed. It seems like the author was making up things just to keep the word count going, so the unnecessary traveling in the book was tiring to read. There were so many scenes which really didn't need to be there imo. The cannibalism bits were icky to read, no it's not graphic but still disgusting.
Keris and Zarrah were my favorite couple. I adored them way more than Aren and Lara. Keris was in one of my top ten book boyfriends for a reason and his whole persona was ripped apart in this one. He had no personality in this one. It's like even his character was screaming at me- "do I really need to be here or can I leave?" His character was a sharp minded one and such a romantic one, instead I was met with a guy who has forgotten his wits and throws up like a pregnant lady. His romantic side was dulled to a -1 out of 10. So yeah am pissed.
Zarrah was so annoying in this one. She was full of complaints and couldn't think. In the last book, she had so much energy and power to her and she was ripped off too. I adored her in the last book and in this one she just came across as a 14 year old girl who stomps her feet at any minor inconvenience and whines.
The romance was the most disappointing. See, the Inadequate Heir did that so brilliantly, I was expecting an angsty, swoon worthy romance amidst a war. But I didn't get that at all. Sure the two were pining for each other when they were apart but when they met, all chemistry was eradicated. By the time the two actually sorted their issues out (which were also being dragged fyi) I stopped caring.
The author writes about war and politics quite well and I applaud her for but apart from that it was a very below average book for me. Aren and Lara try to bring some life to the book, but even they fail. Something was off about them too and I can't quite place a finger on it yet. I also noticed she wanted the plot twists to be more impactful but they really were not. Had the book been 70-100 pages shorter and maybe I would have enjoyed it. The ending was quite underwhelming too.
Based on this experience, I don't see myself continuing with the series in future but will see how it goes. Am pissed that the author ruined my book boyfriend, so if the review comes across as bitter then yeah I am.

Second listen: Zarrah’s chapters in the first half felt a little long after a while, but that’s probably because I was listening to the audiobook instead of reading the book.
Zarrah annoyed me a little more this second time with her contradictory feelings. She wanted to keep Keris at arms’ length, yet she was upset if he was not running after her like a lovesick puppy. She pushed him away, but was sad that he gave her space… I understand her conflicted feelings, but it got annoying after a while.

This book picks up where The Inadequate Heir ended, with Zarrah being condemned by her aunt to remain on Devil’s Island until she can see reason, and Keris being torn between saving her and being the king his country needs. The book's first part focuses on Keris’ plan to save Zarrah, and Zarrah’s effort to remain alive on Devil’s Island, among all the criminals sent there. The book's second part focuses more on politics as Zarrah and Keris must find a way to beat Petra before she catches them and kills them.
The politics were always a part of this series that I enjoyed, and this book was no different, although I saw most of the twists coming. So while I enjoyed them, I was not surprised or shocked by any of the revelations. That being said, it was still great to see Keris’ mind at work and to see how Maridrinians, Valcottan rebels, and even Ithicanians had to find common ground if they wanted to defeat Petra and stop the war once and for all.
Zarrah remains strong and determined to do what’s right for her people, but while I enjoyed her conflicted feelings and self-doubt at first because it made her appear more human and relatable, it became a teeny tiny bit annoying near the end. There were times when I just wanted to shake her and tell her to get a grip because the lives of thousands of people depended on her and her decisions. Still, I liked her very much in this book too, and she is an inspiring leader, as are all female characters in this series.
Keris would burn down the world for Zarrah, but he also realized that making decisions for her or not respecting her choices, even if it was for her protection, was not an option anymore. He needs to find a way to curb his protective side and let Zarrah take her future into her own hands, even if it means that her life might be in danger at times. I liked this growth in Keris, and I was hoping for that to happen because while I love a fiercely protective and dashing love interest as much as any other reader, it is also important to me that said love interest can respect their lover’s choices and free will.
This duology overall was spicier than Lara and Aren’s duology, but this book was more focused on the politics and the feelings of the main characters than on smut. There are a few smutty moments, but not as many as in The Inadequate Heir.
I want to give a special mention to one of the spiciest fakeout-makeout scene I’ve ever read. For those who are not familiar with the term, fakeout-makeout is the strategy in which two characters pretend to make out in order not to be noticed or to hide their identity. Let’s just say that this particular twist on the fakeout-makeout scene involves a pleasure house that caters to women and an urgent need for Keris to hide his face from anyone entering the room… 😏
The next two books will be focused on Ahnna, and I am very excited to see more of her, because we didn’t see her that much since the beginning of the series, except in The Bridge Kingdom maybe, and she is a strong, driven, and intriguing character. I also hope to see snippets of Aren and Lara and also of Keris and Zarrah in the next duology. I was so happy when I realized that Aren and Lara would be part of this book, even if they are secondary characters, it was nice to see them again. It also made me smile to see Aren and Keris interacting because they have such a different vibe (on a side note, Aren sounded like a simpleton at times in the audiobook, let’s just say that his voice was not the best. At all. 😅).

This cured my audiobook slump, I have labeled this series as my comfort series of a world I just know I can easily go back into it. Since this is book #4 I am not going to get into too much, it can get super confusing for some.
Book #4 is the second book of the second couple (each couple has had 2 books so far) and their story came to and end in this book and I LOVED it! I feel in love with both characters even though Keris is freaking annoying sometimes and I WANNA PUNCH HIM anywaaay the story was well written and the way book #3 ended it was an automatic DIVE for this one!
I do have to say that this was good AS AN AUDIOBOOK!!! I know that if I read it physically I would of giving a lower rating. This is due to some of the storyline that I felt dragged a bit for the war atmosphere we seen throughout the entire book there was a point I was basically like "can the battle start now pls".
Either way the elements of war, royal politics and "enemies to lovers" really made me love this world and ultimately love the characters. I am so excited to see what else Danielle has to write because I KNOW we missing one couple buahahha 😈

This cured my audiobook slump, I have labeled this series as my comfort series of a world I just know I can easily go back into it. Since this is book #4 I am not going to get into too much, it can get super confusing for some.

This was a pretty good conclusion to this part of the series. I really enjoyed the relationship between Zarrah and Keris, mostly because of how different they were in many ways. And it was obviously nice to see Aren and Lara again, though it kind of sucked that Aren ended up getting more screen time than Lara.
I wasn't super thrilled with the ending. The whole story was leading up to this massive war with all three countries involved, and then it just...doesn't. There were so many back and forths once Zarrah was rescued and they just kept getting bested by Petra. Once it came down to a handful of people at the end, everything got much better. I almost wish that the plan from the beginning would have been to avoid war and stick to this smaller, character driven resolution instead.
And I wasn't super happy about Zarrah's chapters. Her aunt says a couple things to her at the beginning, a woman she already knows is psycho and not to be trusted, and she believes everything she says for most of the book in varying degrees. Zarrah just wasn't as badass as she was in the previous book, while Keris was precious and didn't stop until he saved her and got her on the throne ❤️🔥
Overall, still very enjoyable and I'm definitely intrigued enough to continue with Ahnna's story when it comes.

There was no doubt in my mind that this would be perfection. It's like each book gets better and better. I can't imagine what kind of masterpiece TBK #5 will be like. To begin with, the plot is mindblowing. I was enthralled by the story. It is packed full of action, suspense, and terrifying moments that traumatized me for life. Other than that, it has a lot of funny moments, which are a nice little reprieve from the gutwrenching pain of everything else that's happening. Also, I loved the little hints for book 5. I can't wait for Ahnna's story.
Moreover, I love how everyone, friend or foe, agrees that Keris is the hottest guy. Not that they're wrong. He seriously might be the most gorgeous blonde guy in modern literature. Not to mention that he is smart, funny, strong, and an adorable bookworm. Also, he is willing to sacrifice his entire kingdom and his crown for Zarrah's sake, and I don't know who wouldn't want a man like that. Why would I settle for flowers and teddy bears after this? Besides, his 🐓 is canonically big.
Furthermore, full disclosure, Zarrah can use my back as a footstool any time she wants. I will let any traumatized warrior lady walk all over me, especially Zarrah, and feel no shame whatsoever. This book is absolutely brutal for her. She is in such deep unending shit from beginning to end that no amount of therapy will be enough to help her. She lost her confidence, the love of her life, and the woman who raised her has those crazy ex-girlfriend vibes. The kind you take a restraining order on. Honestly, it's a wonder she can get out of bed in the morning, much less overthrow the government.
What's more, Zarrah and Keris's relationship is also going through an unbelievable amount of shit. All they want to do is be together but literally nothing works their way. On the contrary, they suffer again and again for their love. Everything stands against them, yet nothing can take away their feelings for one another. However, this makes every moment they spend together and all the words they exchange precious and bittersweet.
Lastly, I adored all the Lara x Aren content. My babies are as wonderful and badass as ever, and every moment spent with them is a gift. Their story continues from Keris's point of view and it's adorable. There's even a little bonus chapter from Lara's point of view of the most adorable chapter in the book. The relationship they both build with Keris is so sweet, as well. He and Lara finally make amends and show how much they truly love and care about each other, putting the past behind them. Keris and Aren share a deep respect for one another, despite what happened between them. Even Aren's people take a reluctant liking to Keris, Jor in particular.

To begin with, the plot is mindblowing. I was enthralled by the story. It is packed full of action, suspense, and terrifying moments that traumatized me for life. Other than that, it has a lot of funny moments, which are a nice little reprieve from the gutwrenching pain of everything else that's happening. Also, I loved the little hints for book 5. I can't wait for Ahnna's story.
Moreover, I love how everyone, friend or foe, agrees that Keris is the hottest guy. Not that they're wrong. He seriously might be the most gorgeous blonde guy in modern literature. Not to mention that he is smart, funny, strong, and an adorable bookworm. Also, he is willing to sacrifice his entire kingdom and his crown for Zarrah's sake, and I don't know who wouldn't want a man like that. Why would I settle for flowers and teddy bears after this? Besides, his 🐓 is canonically big.
Furthermore, full disclosure, Zarrah can use my back as a footstool any time she wants. I will let any traumatized warrior lady walk all over me, especially Zarrah, and feel no shame whatsoever. This book is absolutely brutal for her. She is in such deep unending shit from beginning to end that no amount of therapy will be enough to help her. She lost her confidence, the love of her life, and the woman who raised her has those crazy ex-girlfriend vibes. The kind you take a restraining order on. Honestly, it's a wonder she can get out of bed in the morning, much less overthrow the government.
What's more, Zarrah and Keris's relationship is also going through an unbelievable amount of shit. All they want to do is be together but literally nothing works their way. On the contrary, they suffer again and again for their love. Everything stands against them, yet nothing can take away their feelings for one another. However, this makes every moment they spend together and all the words they exchange precious and bittersweet.
Lastly, I adored all the Lara x Aren content. My babies are as wonderful and badass as ever, and every moment spent with them is a gift. Their story continues from Keris's point of view and it's adorable. There's even a little bonus chapter from Lara's point of view of the most adorable chapter in the book. The relationship they both build with Keris is so sweet, as well. He and Lara finally make amends and show how much they truly love and care about each other, putting the past behind them. Keris and Aren share a deep respect for one another, despite what happened between them. Even Aren's people take a reluctant liking to Keris, Jor in particular.

Okay so where we left off in The Inadequate Heir saw Zarrah in a tight spot and Keris being like LOOK I ALREADY SAID I DIDN’T WANT THIS but now he’s got to get his girl out of Not-Azkaban, which is where roughly 2/3 of the book is set so if you’re a fan of island prisons and the people therein talking about ethical cannibalism, look no further. One could argue that both Zarrah and Keris have a bit of an identity crisis here (there’s an awful lot of “I guess he/she never loved me in the first place” which seems out of character considering how goopy they are for each other) but I suppose they’re both going through a lot without the benefit of therapy so whatever. Missing the unrelenting drama of Lara and Aren? Don’t worry, their soap opera-asses can’t stay away (said with affection). Being a fan of how unforgivably bitchy Ahnna is, I’m looking forward to the next installment and hope she’s mean to everyone in it.

Honestly this one just wasn’t for me .
The adventure was fun & there were some interesting moments. It wasn’t A bad book by any means but imo it was cheesy .
Zara is constantly getting taken captive but obviously has lazy plot armor because lets be real. Keris is constantly putting Zara before his kingdom & chasing after her instead.
Sometimes the dialogue in fantasy romance is very cringe. They’ll be in the middle of a battle or life or death situation and all of a sudden someone will start talking about Love

MASTERCLASS, MASTERPIECE, tout ce que vous voulez. Je suis tellement amoureuse de cette saga, de ces personnages, de cet univers et de la richesse de son intrigue. Ce quatrième tome me prouve une fois de plus le talent de l'autrice : j'étais incapable de lâcher mon livre, de penser à autre chose à l'intrigue et aux obstacles que les personnages devaient surmonter. J'ai tellement hâte que la suite sorte pour pouvoir continuer à explorer cet univers extrêmement riche et me faire de nouveau happer par le style de l'autrice qui me permet de m'évader à chaque fois.

4.5 ⭐️ Such a fantastic ending to Zarrah and Keris’ story!
This has less spice than their first book BUT more action, twists, and turns! It was so much fun diving back into this world! Zarrah and Keris both learn to become the best version of themselves and make difficult decisions for the good of their people. Loved seeing them grow individually and as a couple. Keris’ absolute dedication and love for Zarrah melt my heart. 💕
The one thing that annoyed me was Zarrah’s love for her aunt (no matter how small). After everything she discovers, Zarrah still holds some sentiment towards her until the very end. I mean, I totally get it since her aunt raised and basically brainwashed her, but I just wanted to snap her out of it!
I listened to the audiobook and must say the narrators do a wonderful job again, and I also love the added sound effects.
Overall, 100% recommend and I cannot wait for the next book about Ahnna!!!

I'm a Danielle Jensen Stan. This isn't her strongest book. I could never tell where the story was going and it felt like the plot jumped around and dragged a lot, however, there are some things that she never fails at. This woman can write political fantasy so well, and by god, does she know how to weave a romance plot into her fantasy stories. She does the political enemies-to-lovers trope so well, it makes me love even her most mid books (cough cough)

i wish i knew what was missing from this book that made me just be like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ when it was over. i think maybe because i didn’t enjoy the third book, it carried over into this one? because i generally really like danielle jensen’s work. she usually does a great job of tying together fantasy and political intrigue and romance, and this story was objectively interesting, but the stakes just didn’t feel high or believable in this book — definitely not the way they did in lara and aren’s story. things just felt resolved a little too….neatly? and it’s not that we found a resolution without war that bothered me. that was nice. i liked that keris’ ~ideals~ and smooth-talking intellect ultimately won out. it’s just like . no one we cared about died? ok. they wound up together? ok. they flawlessly schemed their way out of all of the Really Tough Situations? ok. their nations are now achieving peace? ok.
i also like . could not stand zarrah, even a little. her brainwashing did not hit like lara’s, and i don’t think it was handled well. it really just made her a terrible partner to keris with no other major repercussions. her behavior towards him was pathetic and lustful at the best of times and cruel and unrepentant at the worst of times. fym you’re going to set a boundary with him, then test him to see what he’ll do and get upset when he respects your boundary after bemoaning him for “””robbing you of your choice””” to do something that would have gotten you BRUTALLY KILLED??? god she was exhausting to be in the head of. we definitely should have seen more of her aunt manipulating her in book three, because as it stands, my cunty sharp-tongued-sharper-dressed rizzler baby deserves to simp for someone better, someone who would choose him over everything without hesitation the way he would (me)

i didn’t realise how attached i got to these characters until i got to the end!!
i think because ive been following these characters for so many books i like reading about them
even lara and aren! i liked having them show up in the book!
the romance in this isn’t my favourite. i think because it’s clear they like each other already. but overall it wasn’t too bad.
i enjoyed the politics plot line a lot more. towards the last 25% i was very engrossed everything going on!

5⭐️ Jensen has done it again! And I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Keris and Zarrah have officially eclipsed Lara and Aren as my favourite Bridge Kingdom FMC/MMC combo—they are just WOW.
Be reassured that the opening chapter will reorient you if, like me, it’s been a while since you read books 1-3. It was so artfully done, not a hint of info dumping but instead a truly emotionally charged scene that does more than simply recap. I could tell from the strength of this opener alone I was going to love it.
This book has possibly the greatest twist on the “let’s hide in plain sight from guards chasing us by making out against this wall” trope in the history of romantasy. And I do not say that lightly 😂. Let’s just say it involves a pleasure house that caters to women clients and an MMC with a very recognisable face… the scream I scrumpt I tell you, I could absolutely be heard from space 😂💀❤️🔥.
In my opinion, this series as a whole is the perfect romantasy package. This second now completed interconnected duology was definitely spicier (around 2.5-3🌶️), and has all the tension and slow burn enemies to lovers/star-crossed lovers angst you could want.
Jensen’s writing is impeccable, and I love how carefully crafted every chapter is—they are short, sharp and action packed (no filler!), and always leave you on a gasp or mini-cliffhanger. With the chapters alternating FMC/MMC POV’s, this means the pacing of this as an adventure is exceptional and it’s utterly bingeable.
This story is so cleverly told—there are no lazy storytelling or plot choices—and there is symbolism and symmetry woven in that I utterly loved (the literal bridge…I had goosebumps!). There are SO many specific things I want to gush about, but I want to keep this spoiler-free: so I will just say that this book made my feminist heart very very happy! If you want to know why I exclusively read fantasy written by women, see EVERYTHING about this book/series 😂.
I have zero criticisms of this book. Which is wild to say! I loved every second of it and will hungrily pick up the next duology the second it drops. Highly recommend!

Ah, what a satisfying end to a series I do not know how to feel about (although the story supposedly continues, I'm afraid I have to say goodbye).
I admit I was skeptical going into their story, considering how my feelings were not so warm toward Lara and Aren after that frustrating sequel. While Bridge Kingdom served as an exciting glimpse to a fantasy world built upon love, betrayal, secrets that could destroy kingdoms from within and decades of war, Traitor Queen was not that; more of a filler with second book syndrome but Keris and Zarrah's story picked up right where it left off in the first book, and it was all so good.
Keris was a brilliant, soft yet ruthless king fighting battles with his mind and tongue, laying out a plan of his accord and all pawns in his game to win the war. A man who loved to be surrounded by books, a patron of art and languages, and willing to use every weapon in his arsenal to protect the people he loves. And I liked Zarrah, a warrior in her own stead, their love, forbidden and written by fate as a tragedy.
Maybe more than the romance, I was happy seeing all the other relationships that were mended and formed. Lara and Keris, all fierce and heartwarming. I was waiting for their reunion all along and it was all that I wanted it to be and more.
Aren and Keris. The banter I didn't see coming but was so entertaining to witness. They brought out each other's lighter side, needing to sass each other up for that stolen moment of brevity.
Even the blooming ones between Zarrah and Lara or hers with the people of Valcotta. Oh, and how I was so happy when somebody finally put Ahnna in her place (sorry, I don't like her and I'm not looking forward to her books which I'm guessing would being the end to the series), I was geinning shamelessly at her being chastised, and yes, I was petty enough for that.
While the series has its ups and downs, and probably not something I'll come back to for a comfort read, it still brought be joy to be taken to a different place with so much happening all the time that you wouldn't be bored for a second.

After the masterpiece that is "The Inadequate Heir", I had high hopes for this book
I mean I never start the 2nd book in a series after I finish the first one. I always read something in between to let the plot sink in before continuing
But with the Bridge Kingdom? To tell you I started each book even before finishing the last chapter of the previous one is an understatement
Technically, story-wise, and as far as the writing goes, this book was very good. It is an easy 5/5 if I want to compare it to other non-magical fantasy books out there. However, the rating here is how this book compared to its sisters in the Bridge Kingdom series.

We are still in the throngs of politics, schemes, betrayals and the consequences of mad persons sitting on the throne controlling people's lives
But still, the idea that it came down that Empress Petra was a mad person, literally, and that all she wanted was to get Zarrah's love was illogical to me.
This was a woman who was so smart, so evilly conniving, that she gained the admiration and alliance of a more sinister king than her. She was able to get rid of her sister, her heir, control the throne for years and years, manipulate the endless war, and convince the people that she is their savoir just for her to be "seeking attention and love" of her niece????
Add to that, more than half the book is set of Devil's island where they send the rebels. There, Zarrah is faced with two camps who, surprise surprise, are also fighting for control. I didn't think we needed 350 pages of this! it could have been cut shorter and more focus on the Empress schemes would have been better. I mean it is called THE ENDLESS WAR not the island's camps !!!

It really came down to our two main characters.
Seeing as each got almost the same number of chapters, this book is divided between Keris and Zarrah
and In my humble opinion, Keris soared while Zarrah watched.
It is Keris who carried this book and delivered every major turning point.
Keris from the beginning did not care to become king. He only accepted because he did not have any alternative. He was always about Zarrah and her safety from the moment he met her. The way he just left everything to go and rescue her ass again and again and again, is both admirable and notious at the same time. He really was a love-sick puppy!
He was so gone for Zarrah, that everything he blamed his sister for doing was ok in his book when Zarrah did it
But I admired him for that simply because he was clear in his intention from the beginning. Fuck honor I want Zarrah
so he gets the 2.5 stars
and as much as I liked Zarrah in book 3 (book 1 in their duet), I did not like her at all here
we have a saying in Arabic that goes
كلمة بتاخدها, كلمة بتجيبها
which translates to "one word takes her, one word brings her"
we use this to describe a person who is so easily influenced by the words of others
and this is exactly what Zarrah was in this book
her aunt manipulated her
the rebels manipulated her
Daria manipulated her
her father
even Keris could make her do what he wants
to the point that she was challenged in every decision she made!
even her cousin knew that
"Little Zarrah never has a thought for herself. What, pray tell, does the King of Maridrina want her to do?"
and even the two times she showed initiative were not of her own. The first one she pulled a "I am Spartacus" moment, and the second was an idea put by Saam.
Unfortunately, her kingdom did not have an alternative and they had to settle with her as Empress.

He was so gone for Zarrah, that everything he blamed his sister for doing was ok in his book when Zarrah did it
But I admired him for that simply because he was clear in his intention from the beginning. Fuck honor I want Zarrah
so he gets the 2.5 stars
and as much as I liked Zarrah in book 3 (book 1 in their duet), I did not like her at all here
we have a saying in Arabic that goes
كلمة بتاخدها, كلمة بتجيبها
which translates to "one word takes her, one word brings her"
we use this to describe a person who is so easily influenced by the words of others
and this is exactly what Zarrah was in this book
her aunt manipulated her
the rebels manipulated her
Daria manipulated her
her father
even Keris could make her do what he wants
to the point that she was challenged in every decision she made!
even her cousin knew that
"Little Zarrah never has a thought for herself. What, pray tell, does the King of Maridrina want her to do?"
and even the two times she showed initiative were not of her own. The first one she pulled a "I am Spartacus" moment, and the second was an idea put by Saam.
Unfortunately, her kingdom did not have an alternative and they had to settle with her as Empress.

the other 1 star goes to the amazing quotes in this book. I'll just put one

Weakest book in the series by far. So many plot holes, plot conveniences and so much longer than it needed to be. Kept zoning out while listening.

It took me a week to finish this book!! blame it on the fact that this book was stretched way too much because it accomplished two task in total or the slump I am going through because boy, I had not wanted to pick the book up even while travelling to uni which is my prime time of reading.
The characters and vibes were amazing as always but it was dragged on too much. The confessions were to die for and the banter and heartfelt connection between all the queens and the kings were something I felt and were not just few words on the paper.
“I love you, Zarrah. You say that I don’t know what love is, and maybe that’s true. Maybe there is some part of me missing or broken that ensures I don’t feel things like a better man would, but I know the way I feel about you consumes me. That it gives me breath even as it steals the airbfrom my lungs. Makes my heart beat even as it cuts it from my chest. What word I give it matters little. What matters is that even after my bones are dust and my name lost to history and history lost to time, I will feel this way for you.”

Znalazły się w tej książce rozwiązania, które mnie nie usatysfakcjonowały, były też takie, które wyszły nieprawdopodobnie, ale wciąż bawiłam się świetnie.

Misja ratunkowa po dziedziczkę cesarstwa na wyspę-więzienie złożona z samych koronowanych głów może nie brzmi prawdopodobnie - władcy najczęściej mają od tego odpowiednich ludzi - jednak jeśli chcemy czytać o ulubionych bohaterach w akcji to musimy przymknąć na to oko.
Misja obalenia cesarzowej - widać, ze zostało to przemyślane i nie muszę chyba podkreślać rozbudowanych wątków politycznych tej historii, bo poza romansem stanowią od początku drugi filar całej serii. Co do romansu właśnie, to mniej jest tu pikantnych scen, a więcej słusznych, emocjonalnych rozważań i na każdej stronie czuć rozdarcie bohaterów.
Jedno muszę podkreślić: gdy akcja jakiejkolwiek książki przenosi się do burdelu, to wszystko staje się ciekawsze, ale gdy do tego dochodzi konieczność ukrywania się na widoku to scena rozbija bank!
Keris, swoją inteligencją i ciętym językiem (dosłownie i w przenośni) jest taką postacią, której nigdy nie ma się dość. Jest trochę jak Tyrion Lanister w ciele Rhaegara Targaryena - samym sprytem, urokiem i gadaniem potrafi wymigać się z kłopotów bez wyciągania miecza. Tym bardziej boli mnie jego decyzja na koniec, bo jednak miałam nadzieję, że uda się pogodzić miłość i obowiązek. Zarrah się miota między tym, co nawrzucano jej do głowy, a tym, co czuje, ale nie jest przy tym strasznie irytująca - raczej autentyczna.
Biorąc pod uwagę objętość książki to finałowa rozgrywka potoczyła się trochę szybko (co nie znaczy, że łatwo), ale cała książka i domkniecie wątku Zarrah i Kerisa są wspaniałe.

Keris and Zarrah’s relationship and story will stay with me a long time. So much action, romance, tragedy, and it really is an endless war not just in this book, but in the entire series… bc it’s still not over in the 5th book between the kingdoms in these books!! Just wow I absolutely love the politics and war in this one and of course throughout all the books. I haven’t rated every book in a series 5 stars since Fear the Flames this year. 😱

I absolutely love this entire series so much! The plot is just ✨perfection✨
I love Zarrah and Keris' story and it captured me right from book 1. While I loved this so much - I do think it dragged on just a bit. Book 1 was EVERYTHING and I had to immediately move on to The Endless War. The ending was fantastic but it just took awhile to get there.
I am still super eager to get princess Ahnna's story next
I still stand by it when I say if you are a Throne of Glass fan, you will love this series!
