She should fear me. She should run. But fate marked her as mine the moment I saw her.
Stormhaven Cove is mine to protect. The cliffs, the pack, the fragile balance between rival clans, it all rests on my shoulders. Outsiders can’t know the truth. Humans can’t glimpse the storm-bound secrets that keep us alive.
Then she arrived. Eliza Warren. Sharp eyes, sharper instincts, digging into things she doesn’t understand. I should have sent her away the moment I caught her scent. I should have wiped her memories clean and let the sea claim her questions.
But the wolf inside me doesn’t obey reason. The moment I saw her, I knew… she’s mine. My mate. The one fate chose, no matter the cost.
Now the storms are growing stronger, enemies are circling, and shadows stalk the cove. To keep her safe, I’ll have to risk my pack, my secrets, even my soul.

Wow this book was amazing. Declan and Eliza had an immediate bond that they were able to use to protect and save the island. They were betrayed by one of their own who sacrificed himself to complete a goal of such terrible proportions. They fought back against the betrayer and with all the supernaturals on the island they were able to seal the evil back behind the protections set in place by their ancestors.
I received this ARC from the author for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Absolutely captivating, the prequel had hooked me, but this really pulled me in. As the alpha and guardian, Declan was sworn to protect his pack and the secrets of Stormhaven, but then Eliza, a journalist and human, inherited her aunt's Clifftop House. She's his fated mate and she's what his wolf wants. Torin 'sees' someone practicing blood magic and Eliza is the catalyst. Old magic is stirring. Jax is vehemently opposed to Eliza being around, seeing her as a threat to their secrets, especially being a journalist. Her aunt left her a letter, stating she's in mortal danger. They mate without pack approval which causes an uproar, but after the hunt, secrets have to be shared. Seven families means seven sacrifices to release the Fomori, a chaos entity that was sealed in 75 years ago and Eliza is the ultimate sacrifice. A fanatical traitor in their midst. The suspense escalated, raising the hair on my arms. Declan turning into the Storm Wolf gave me chills. The ending was quite dramatic and blood thirty. A wedding rounded up the storyline. Moira, sea witch and owner of Flynn's Pub, is still a character that piques my interest, more will come with the next book. Delta's authentic writing style once again gave me hours of entertainment. I'm definitely keeping this series on my Tbr list till the end. I received an advanced review copy and leave this review voluntary Thank you BookSirens
This is an excellent start to what I feel will be an awesome series. It's unique in many ways. I liked both of the main characters. Declan, alpha of the wolves. He has many secrets and skills that will come in handy with the evil they have to face. He knew Eliza was his mate the moment she stepped foot on the island. I loved Eliza. What she went through to be accepted by the residents on the island was intriguing, especially since she was an "outsider " and a journalist. She is smart, compassionate and surprises everyone with her way of thinking. She didn't run away from danger, but faced it head on. She helps in ways the pack did not see coming. Loved the suspense, the twists (especially with Connor). Steam to the eventual romance. POV of each. I liked how eventually all of the shifters joined in on the fight, knowing if they lost, the world as they knew it would be gone. I received a free copy of this book via Booksiren and am voluntarily leaving my review.
An amazing start to what I'm positive is going to be a phenomenal series! Change is coming for the Island of Skara and Stormhaven. Determined against this change stands Declan. Storm Alpha of the Stormhaven Pack, he is a Guardian of the fragile balance on the island, like generations before him. Keeping the peace between rival packs is only one part of his to responsabilities. That should be enough, right? Except there are humans living on the island, unaware of the shifter population, and he aims to keep it that way. That gets exponentially more difficult when Maureen dies and her niece, Eliza, inherits Clifftop House. An investigative reporter, she starts digging when she opens a letter from her aunt and sees a puzzle needing to be solved.
The chemistry and draw between Declan and Eliza is electric and all-encompassing. Fate doesn't make mistakes, but the timing couldn't be worse. There's danger surrounding the island, and Eliza specifically. Members are torn regarding her presence, but none of its good. They're left to determine if they fight for what's between them, or let the dangers tear them apart. Facing those dangers will require more than simple brute strength and stealthy planning though.someone, or something, has had years to plan what's coming, and they’re left trying to play catch-up. It's a suspense filled, action packed drama from start to finish with a wonderful cast of secondary characters you don't want to miss. Delta has truly outdone herself with this opening book to this series, and I can't wait to see what else she has in store!
I'm greatful for the gift copy of this book and voluntarily provided this review. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
The author outdid herself with this book. In my experience, authors who stick to a specific genre often just rehash the same story format and just seem to change names. Books like that become very predicable and boring in my opinion. Ms James has written many books in the shifter genre, yet is able to bring totally unique stories to the pages of those books.
This book was amazing! I have previously read the prequel to this series and it caught my attention. This, the first book in the series was so different. It had so much depth and complexity written into an amazing story line. This is not a book simply about a male shifter meeting his fated mate. There is so much more to this story. Once you start reading it and the story builds, it is very difficult to put it down. If you like shifter/fated mate romances, you will love this book. It has everything you expect in a romance of this genre and so much more. I loved it!
From the very first page, the atmosphere of this book was tinged with a level of darkness and mystery. The descriptions of Skara, the sky, the cliffs, Clifftop House, and even the residents of Skara were detailed to the point I could not overlook the vividness of them.
Eliza's first steps into her aunt's house were surrounded with suspense. As I moved further through the story, I had a much clearer understanding of why Eliza was not more freaked out by Declan's secret. Declan and Eliza together were much more formidable than I expected. The Storm Alpha and his mate were explosive.
The whole process of searching for the secret of the seals, guarding the seals, attempting to keep them from being open and releasing the evil/corruption was intriguing at minimum. I found the process to be riveting, suspenseful, dark, dangerous, and action packed. I liked the way the packs came together as well as the unexpected twist they discovered.
I was completely entertained from beginning to end. I appreciated both the preorder bonus scene along with the introduction to the next book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This is a strong start to a new series. It’s a paranormal shifter romantic suspense. It has a bit of everything - fated mates, old magic, ancient evil they need to work together to defeat. It drew me in from the beginning and held my attention well. I really like the characters in this new series. Declan and Eliza make a good match; Eliza has the strength and perseverance she needs as the mate to the Storm Alpha. I was pleasantly surprised that the book didn’t end on a cliffhanger; I was expecting the conflict to extend over the course of the series. There is a teaser at the end of the book that introduces the story in the next book. I am looking forward to the stories for the rest of the brotherhood. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Delta James is one of those authors whose books I’ve wanted to read for a long time, but have never got around to. I decided to take the plunge with A Gathering Storm – and after loving that prequel novella, I knew I had to read the first entry in her Tides of Fate series, Wolf of the Storm.
If I were to compare the book to anything, it would be a buffet. If you like the classic dishes of paranormal romance – psychic bonds, claiming bites, a lot of instances of the word “mine” – you’ll definitely find them here. But if you’re looking for some new flavours, James provides that as well.
One of the earliest examples of that is the setting of this and the rest of the series – the small island of Stormhaven. Nestled somewhere in the Scottish Highlands, it’s a place that lends itself to the supernatural – not just in its landscape, dotted with “whitecaps like teeth”, but in its people too. Our female main character, Eliza, is regarded with suspicion due to her being an outsider. and these early passages read like something you’d see in a mystery novel, while also building the sense of foreboding.
As we – and Eliza – find out, that sense isn’t misplaced. Being a former journalist, she instantly knows there’s a story in Stormhaven after her aunt’s mysterious death. However, for all her instinct, she doesn’t anticipate the island being a secret haven for shifters.
Don’t get me wrong – I do love the dramatic irony of the human character not immediately knowing their love interest isn’t human, but it was a really pleasant surprise to see Eliza quickly connect the dots. Her perceptiveness and practical nature prove to be a huge help as Stormhaven faces an otherworldly threat. It also means we spend more time on what’s the crux of this novel: the relationship between Eliza, and wolfshifter Declan MacRae.
Declan is a man who has plenty to deal with even before Eliza comes along. Not only is he leader of his own pack, and a legendary Storm Alpha, but he also has to keep the peace between multiple groups of shifters on the island. That tenuous alliance is at risk of being shattered when Declan sees Eliza, instantly recognising her as his fated mate.
As Declan describes it, the blood oath and the mate bond are “two absolute forces pulling in opposite directions—one demanding I protect her at all costs, the other demanding I protect the pack even from her.” How he comes to terms with balancing them forms the core of his own character arc. And though Eliza does briefly worry that she may be weakening his position, the pair constantly draw strength from each other – something that is crucial as the battle against evil forces ramps up. “You make me better than I am alone,” Declan says of Eliza. “Stronger. More human. And the thought of losing that, of losing you—it terrifies me more than any enemy ever has.”
The supporting cast is also great – each member of Declan’s pack has their own defined personality and reaction to Eliza, the new human in their midst. I loved the glimpses we got of the other shifters on Stormhaven, too. I would have liked to see more of them, but I can’t be too greedy – I’m aware their stories are to come.
Wolf of the Storm is a very strong first instalment, with a diverse cast, competent heroine, and the requisite electric romance. Though there’s some repetition which does get tiring, fans of classic PNR tropes looking for something new will want to get swept away by this series.
WOLF OF THE STORM is the first instalment in Delta James’s contemporary adult TIDES OF FATE erotic, paranormal romance series. This is alpha wolf shifter Declan MacRae, and journalist Eliza Warren’s story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Declan and Eliza) WOLF OF THE STORM follows in the wake of the death of Eliza’s aunt Maureen. Called to Scotland in order to handle aunt Maureen’s estate, Eliza Warren will discover she is the sole heir to her aunt’s house and contents, an inheritance that will bring Eliza up close and personal with a world she knows nothing about. Something is different about the people in Stormhaven Cove, including the man with whom Eliza will fall in love, and our heroine is about to discover her arrival in Scotland comes with a family history of watchers who live and work alongside the supernatural element.Someone is taking aim at the different paranormal species, and Eliza’s fated relationship with alpha Declan MacRae has placed a target on our story line heroine.
The world building is detailed as the reader is pulled into a fight for power. Seven ancient bloodlines have been are threatened, and in this, the bonding between Eliza and Declan has revealed a power neither expected.
The relationship between Declan and Eliza is one of immediate attraction. Upon her arrival, Declan and his wolf know immediately that Eliza is their fated mate but a war is on the horizon, and Declan refuses to place Eliza in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and supernatural secondary and supporting characters including Declan’s second in command Jax: panther shifter Rafe; dragon shifter Finn; bear shifter Greyson , tiger shifter Kian, and sea witch Moira.
WOLF OF THE STORM is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, magic and paranormal, secrets and lies, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is action packed, detailed and dramatic; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are desperate, determined and magical.
Captivating beginning to new series, wonderful plot and characters you will love reading Stormhaven Cove this is a place where the cliffs hold the secrets of the pack that resides there and the ever-present threat that is there from other packs trying to rival our right to reside here. The fight and the responsibility is a heavy crown to wear for the Alpha whose responsibility to protect his pack and their land. One day things seem to change and this is all because of one human woman by the name of Eliza Warren who scent called out to his inner wolf, “Mate” and as much as the man tries to ignore this his inner wolf will not be subdued and his inner turmoil calls into question if he let the sea take her? As the cove and the conflicts around continue to grow with enemies continuing to circle and look for weakness it is essential that the pack and secrets he guards so closely not fall into the wrong hands. This is the battle that could win or lose everything and to a wolf losing his pack is like losing the very air you breath, he will do everything to keep them safe. This is a complex and captivating first book in this series and I guarantee other readers will be as blown away by this book as I have been. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
A great start to a new series by Delta James.... Tides of Fate book 1. This is Eliza, the human and Declan, the Alpha wolf shifters....fated mates, story! Eliza Warren, journalist, sole heir to her aunt Maureen's estate.....one that resides on the Scottish coast, The Isle of Skara. An island with many secrets. Declan, a Wolf shifter, sees Eliza disembark from the Islands ferry, and immediately her scent hits him, he knows she is his fated mate. A human no less. Struggling with the Islands secrets and the need to keep her near him and keep her safe war with his emotions. A great start to an immensely riveting story as Eliza finds hidden journals of her Aunts that reveal, cryptically, that there is more to the Island than meets the eye. And now believing that maybe her Aunts death was anything but an accident. The push and pull and the dynamics between the wolf shifters as they have to come to terms with a human as their Alphas mate. Once he soon realises that he cannot deny his feelings and brings her into their fold. As they all team together to fight the evil that threatens their very existence, Declan has to trust his pack to protect his mate from whoever is trying to release evil back into their lives. Looking forward to Book 2 in this series as Moira and Rafael Vega get their story in Panther in the Shadows.
Wow this story is so exciting right from the beginning till the end. The setting is unique and mysterious. You will love all the characters. Eliza is a young investigative reporter. She never says away from the most dangerous stories. One day she is informed that her Aunt Maureen has past away. That Eliza is the last living relative. This means she inherited everything. This includes a mysterious Victorian house. On a mysterious Isle called the Isle of Skara. There seems to be a mystery behind her Aunts death. After she gets to the Isle. Eliza finds the people of the Isle is very territorial, and do not like strangers. Declan is a sexy wolf shifter. He and his pack live on the Isle, and don't want discovery. Then when Eliza shows up his inner wolf goes wild. How could fate make his fated mate an investigative reporter? Not only does he have to deal with this, but there seems to be an evil entity. Trying to possibly be trying to use Eliza for its own gain. Can Declan claim Eliza for his own, and protect her from the evil and his pack?
Eliza Warren is in Stormhaven Cove to claim her inheritance, but she quickly discovers that she has inherited more than just a house. Declan MacRae is more than Alpha of the Stormhaven pack, and when he sees Eliza disembark from the ferry, he knows that he should send her back to where she came from, but both he and his wolf recognize her as their mate. Unfortunately for them, on of Declan's fellow alphas is determined to bring about a new world order, and in order to do so he will have to unleash an evil chaos entity which another generation gave their lives in order to lock it away. Wow, this is a fantastic, action packed, and very steamy fated mates shifter romance that kept me engrossed and on the edge of my seat. I loved these characters. They are all so complex and intriguing that I was enthralled by their thrilling story from the very first page. I think this is a must-read, I am already looking forward to the next book in this series so I will recommend this book to others.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC provided by Book Sirens.
This is a wonderful start to a new series, Tides of Fate. Declan is a wolf shifter and storm Alpha of his pack at Stonehaven Cove. Maureen, the “watcher” dies under suspicious circumstances, and she left everything to her niece, Eliza, an investigative journalist from London. When Eliza comes to Stonehaven Cove and Declan meets her, he immediately knows that she is his fated mate, even though she is human.
Danger is brewing in the town, and tensions are rising between the packs and the other alphas. There is a very dangerous force that is trying to come back and the alphas and packs must work together to prevent it from rising. It’s a fast-paced fascinating story that only Delta James can weave. I can’t wait to start the second book in this series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
What a fabulous story, it’s quite dark and stormy but it’s just what this story needed. Declan is a strong Alpha and needs a mate just as powerful as he is, after her Aunt dies under mysterious circumstances Eliza, a journalist, inherits all she had, and that’s when the mystery really starts. She’s determined to find out what happened and will , literally, leave no stone unturned. The attraction between Eliza and Declan is there from the start, and they both need each other to get to the bottom of the mystery, there’s certainly some very dark moments and some very nasty characters! Initially l thought that Jax might not be all he appeared to be, but my thoughts were way off mark, thank goodness. Loved this story and look forward to the next story in the series.

This new to me author had me captivated from the get-go. Delta James has a new fan.
Dark Paranormal Fated Mates stories are not something I often read, either, but that may have to change. I want to know what's in store for Rafe (the next book) and the remaining cast of characters. they've wormed their way into my heart.
The two main characters, Eliza and Declan, are something else. Fated to be together regardless of everything trying to tear them apart - traitors, the power hungry, and a powerful entity trying to break free and destroy all. It will take all they have to survive.
The storytelling is great. It's on the edge of your seat action for most of the book. I was unable to put it down and read in one sitting. The setting is fantastic, and the history is almost tangible. Loved it!
Full disclosure, I received this as an ARC and am willingly providing a review.
Although this was from the perspective of the wolf clan on the Isle of Skara in Scotland, it was exciting to see the various clans come together to fight evil. There were some intense scenes due to heightened senses as well as tension to grab and keep my attention due to a well thought out plot and vivid descriptions. Eliza arrives on the island thinking she is just coming to settle some business, but becomes embroiled in the mystery and history of the inhabitants and unaware that Declan has realised that this mate has arrived. This is a great start to the series and the teaser at the end promises more of the same. I received a copy from BookSirens and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Ms. James really has perfected the knack of writing atmospheric descriptions that pull you in right from the start. The story really builds - from Eliza arriving and the mystery of how her aunt died to Declan being smacked with the mate bond that he would choose over anything. They, and all the shifters on Skara, face pain and danger and betrayal. Eliza is more of a handful than Declan expects. She’s an investigative journalist and is determined to find out EVERYTHING! I really liked both Eliza and Declan. They were strong and determined and protective, but also acknowledged each other as partners. Very exciting read. Kept me on the edge of my seat.
I received a free Advance Review Copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
It is about Declan who is the Alpha and Guardian of the pack and Eliza a human and journalist. She inherits her aunts house in Declan's territory.
Eliza is Declan's fated mate and there is an immediate bond between them. Their love story is great and they stand together to fight all the evil surrounding them.
The story is full of mystery, suspense, action, betrayal and danger.
The book is well written and easy to read. It had me captivated from the start. I can't wait to read future books in this series... I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.
Eliza goes to the island to deal with her aunts’ estate, on arrival she is enchanted by the island, not knowing the strange things that go on there. Dylan is the Storm Alpha, and he protects all on the island. When she and his wolf first see Eliza, they know she is their mate and they are in deep trouble. Brilliant! I cannot say too much about how brilliant this story is: the relationship between Dylan and Eliza is complicated, an ancient evil is stalking the island and traitors abound. I loved how the whole island community is involved and you start to build an idea on how things are done and how suspicious everyone is of outsiders. The hook for the next book drew me in, I am looking forward to its release. I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.
This is book one in the new shifter series. Finally, a return to the author's niche. This is Declan and Eliza's story. The good - it's a shifter series, It starts out with a wolf shifter, both main characters are strong stubborn alpha types who earn the respect. The not so good - the "pack" gets a bit confusing until the end when the author clearly defines the group of chosen alphas as the Brotherhood which helps eliminate the confusion. There's a supernatural mystery that's very good and didn't flame out. The buildup was extremely good & the twists and turns made sense and weren't telegraphed. This series is one to continue. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Eliza Warren came to Skara Island off the coast of Scotland to settle her Aunt Maureen's estate and then get back to London for her next journalism assignment… except the village of Stormhaven and the people there were a mystery which needed to be explained, as well the circumstances of her aunt's death. Declan is wolf shifter who realizes that Eliza is his fated mate at first sight on the arrival dock. There is a tie between the shifters on the island and the humans who reside there and both factions were aware of an ancient entity who was breaking free of their ancestors' sacrificial protections… but you will need to read this story of supernatural secrets uncovered to see what happens… I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.
I was captivated from the very beginning! Declan and Eliza are thrown together by fate. There are dark forces at work, and Declan is the storm alpha sworn to protect the island. Declan knows Eliza is his fated mate the moment she arrives. Eliza is thrust into a war she wasn't prepared for. They know that the only way to stop what's coming is by working together as equals. Declan saw Eliza as his partner and together they were unstoppable. I loved watching their relationship blossom into an impenetrable force. I can't wait to read the next installment!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
4.5 stars - opening book in the Tides of Fate series… a fated mate, secrets and mystery, possible murder, unfriendly welcome for the heir of an old mansion, and did I mention lots of secrets? Suspense, thriller, PNR.
Wolf of the Storm pulled me into the story from the first page. The set up works well. The characters are introduced very intuitively. And while it has the appearance of an ongoing story this one is self-contained and has a well deserved ending. With the blurb for the next book setting up a story I know I will want to read.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Eliza, a journalist, is her Aunts heir and travels to her home to settle the estate. She is now the owner of Clifftop house and as the name suggests, it sits on a cliff. The people are weary of mainlanders and she is a journalist. They like to keep to themselves.
Declan is the alpha of his clan. When Eliza arrives on the dock he feels a pull to her. To protect her as well as the island secrets.
Neither know what will be next in their lives.
This is a wonderful story with several twists. It held my interest from the first page until the end. Can't wait for the next in the series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This story has a very Edgar Allen Poe vibe in the beginning that I loved. I loved that while Declan and Eliza had this instant attraction and endeavored to mar things work despite the hurdles, the pack was not all on board, and there were challenges because of this.
My biggest hurdle with the story was the antagonist was identified too easily, and while there was great struggle and loss to the characters in the story, I couldn't feel it as the reader. Overall, it was a good palette cleanser between my other reads.
I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
-A fierce, fast-paced shifter romance. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Declan and Eliza’s fated bond ignites from the start. Old magic, dark betrayal, and rising ancient evil keep the tension razor-sharp throughout. Eliza’s unexpected strength makes her a perfect match for the Storm Alpha as danger closes in.
A gripping, atmospheric beginning to a series that promises even more supernatural intrigue. A great start to a promising new series. I enjoyed the suspense and how fast the story progressed. Great supporting characters!
An action packed story featuring a the mysterious secrets of the Isle of Skara. Eliza, an investigative reporter, has come to Stormhaven Cove for her inheritance from her Aunt Maureen. Declan is an alpha Wolfshifter working to protect and keep secrets of his pack from humans. Life throws him a loop when he scents his fated mate in Eliza, who is determined to uncover truths. I enjoyed the sizzle between Declan and Eliza, the secondary characters, the mysteries, the danger and look forward to more in this series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
this is the first book in the new series and it is so very good! the wolf shifters live on the island with other shifter clans and the human population. Humans do not know about the shifters and the shifters want it kept that way. Enter the MFC who inherits the house after her aunt dies. She is smart and is puzzled by some letters of her aunts and starts to investigate. The MMC shifter does not want this to happen but when he meets her, she is his mate. Twists and turns, rival shifters, action and drama, everything and more that you expect from Delta James. Excellent story, cannot wait to read the rest!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Wow, this book had me glued to my chair, not being able to put the book down, the book was written well and the characters were sensational. This book was about Eliza and Declan are working together to find the killer, killing paranormal shifters. Maureen was human she was killed like the others. Eliza inherited her aunt's house on Isle of Skara, Eliza found a note regarding their last name their ancestors. Declan and six others are shifters with magic, and Declan is the stronger of bloodline, more powerful shifter.
