SYNDAL A lot of people use their jobs to define them, but my life really starts after I clock out. Making sweet treats is my passion, but it doesn’t pay the bills. One day I dream of having my own shop in Denver, but right now building my business means tables at events.
I’ve seen Joss working security at a few events, but he doesn’t see me. Until he does. Now it’s like he doesn’t look away. I’m not sure what to do with his interest, no matter how much I want to believe what he’s offering me.
Will Joss coming into my life be the first thing that changes everything? Maybe I really can leave my boring job behind and switch to full time with my treats. A chance meeting at an event just may prove to help both of our dreams come true. Then what happens with us, can we really have forever together?
JOSS I thought I’d have more options after coming back stateside and joining civilian life after my time in the military. It was naïve of me; I get that now. I’ve been struggling, but without a lot of help the best I could do is this security job and an empty studio apartment.
One of the events I worked brought me my side gig. Modelling for book covers wasn’t part of my plan, but it helps pay my bills. Maybe it’ll mean I can leave my security job behind. The events make me want to pull my hair out, until I see her there.
Syndal is everything I’ve ever wanted. She’s driven, passionate, and more beautiful than she realizes. Her curves make me want to map her body with my hands, but I can see the wariness in her eyes. Watching her back at events, even when she doesn’t need me to, while convincing her she’s mine is the purpose I’ve been waiting for. There’s no doubt in my mind that she’s the sweetness I’ve always needed in my life.
*18+. If you like alpha heroes and an insta-love story that is sweet but isn’t necessarily simple, then this is for you. This story is safe, no cheating, guaranteed HEA. It is a standalone but does have link up with the Denver Family books.*
From broke beginnings to business dreams, the real hustle begins after hours. Whether it’s garage startups or late-night gigs, these blue-collar heroes and heroines are chasing goals bigger than the next bill. When love throws them a curveball, they learn that building a future means risking their hearts.
Side Hustle is a multi-author series of short, steamy instalove stories with guaranteed happily-ever-afters. Each one delivers open-door heat, real-world grit, and chemistry that burns hotter after midnight.
Ember Davis loves alpha heroes with a range of emotions, but a strong sense of how to take care of their women. She loves her heroines from all walks of life, just like her heroes, and she wants them to be real and relatable. Her heroines tend to be sassy, opinionated and smart.
Ember is a stay at home mom of two who recently refound her love of books and all things romance and is so glad that she did. She’s always been creative, but writing and creating stories that she would love to read satisfies the dreams she had as a little girl. She loves butterflies, the color purple and enjoying time with her family.
Pssst, it’s totally a pen name, but everything above is 100% true.
SYNFULLY SWEET is part of the multi-authored SIDE HUSTLE series. It's a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, opposites-attract, close-proximity, curvy girl gets her hunk romance. Syndal is a curvy girl who works in insurance but has a side business making chocolates. She sells at different shows, but longs to open her own chocolate shop. Joss is a hunky security guard who also does some modeling on the side. He sees Syndal at a convention he is doing security at and is taken with the curvy beauty. She likes him too but is shy at first having been hurt before. These two were adorable together. They had such great chemistry and the ending was so happy. I loved seeing old friends from the Denver family too.
Syndal, who hates her job, works part-time to pursue her passion for making sweets. She creates unique chocolate shapes and sells them at various fairs and locations. During a visit to a book fair, she encounters Joss, a former military man turned book cover model and private security. Joss is instantly smitten with Syndal and does whatever it takes to get her.
I love Ember Davis’s brand of instalove. If you read her before, you know her heroes are swoony and her heroines are loved beyond reason. Joss has some baggage from his past, and Syndal has some self-esteem issues, but they fit together perfectly. This novella has just the right amount of spice, drama, and swoon. Definitely worth the read. Oh, and there are some cameos from some of the OG Denver Family just to make this story even better.
Not only do I love Syndel and Joss and the acceptance and love they find, but they are also absorbed into the amazing Denver family - which is far too big to name individually, but special thanks to Amelia and Blake for dragging these two amazing but unsuspecting people into the Banks Ink/Denver Family world... it's the most amazing place to be and Synfully Sweet fits perfectly into the crazy world of tattoos, music, security, art, photography and bars that the "family" run. A great addition to the side hustle series, with both Syndel and Joss having a side hustle....getting the cross over too - bonus! I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
A charming feel good romance. It was instant chemistry when Joss and Syndal first meet. Loved the inner dialogue of both characters. A bit of angst, humorous moments, and steamy sizzle kept the story flowing. Loved how Joss supported his “Sweet Syn” and understood her vulnerability. It was so fun to see the Social Outcasts and Higgins Security making Joss and Syndal’s dreams come true. Quick fun read.

I love watching a man get run over by the instalove truck 🤣. Watching him go from I'm good... I have my work to She is everything I want forever in a moment just warms my heart. This was a sweet story (ha no pun intended) and I really enjoyed seeing the transformation of a somewhat meek Syndal to a fierce, standing up for herself baddie. Now I want inappropriately shaped chocolate.

Syndal is a woman who’s easy to root for. By day, she’s stuck in a job that pays the bills but doesn’t feed her soul. By night, she pours her heart into making sweet treats, hustling tables at events while dreaming of one day opening her own shop in Denver. Her passion is real, her doubts are relatable, and her insecurity—especially about her body—feels honest and familiar. She wants more out of life, she’s just not sure she’s allowed to take it.
Joss is coming from the opposite direction but wants the same thing: a fresh start. Ex-military and struggling to find his footing in civilian life, he’s juggling a security job and an unexpected side gig as a romance cover model just to stay afloat. He’s grounded, protective, and quietly searching for purpose—until Syndal walks into his line of sight and suddenly everything clicks.
What makes this story shine is the way these two support each other’s dreams. Joss doesn’t just admire Syndal’s creativity—he believes in it completely, never once doubting her ideas or her worth. The way he sees her, cherishes her curves, and makes her feel beautiful without trying to “fix” her is incredibly sweet. Their connection is instant, but it’s layered with encouragement, respect, and genuine partnership.
This is a true side-hustle romance where love grows alongside ambition. The late nights, the creative risks, and the shared hope for something better make their relationship feel earned and deeply satisfying. Syndal and Joss don’t just fall in love—they build something together.
If you love alpha heroes with soft hearts, curvy heroines chasing big dreams, and insta-love that feels heartfelt instead of rushed, Synfully Sweet is a delightful, feel-good read with just the right amount of heat. It’s charming, supportive, and guaranteed to leave you smiling long after the last page.

Synfully Sweet lives up to its name—warm, heartfelt, and just the right amount of spice, with two hardworking characters you can’t help but root for.
Syndal is instantly lovable. She’s driven, passionate, and quietly brave, balancing a job she doesn’t love while chasing her dream of turning her sweet treats into a full-time business. Her doubts and determination feel real, and watching her slowly start to believe in herself is deeply satisfying.
Joss brings strong cinnamon-roll protector energy with a rugged edge. A former military man struggling to find his footing in civilian life, he’s steady, humble, and intensely devoted once his attention locks onto Syndal. What really works is that his attraction goes beyond the physical—he sees her ambition and talent long before she does, and his support never feels forced or controlling.
The repeated event settings give their relationship a natural rhythm, allowing the chemistry to build organically. Joss’s protective instincts pair perfectly with Syndal’s cautious heart, creating a romance that feels both sweet and secure.
The inclusion of the Denver family from Suburban Outcast, along with familiar faces from Banks Ink and Higgins Security, adds a fun layer of continuity and gives the story an extra spark. These connections enrich the world without stealing focus, making longtime readers feel right at home while still keeping the story accessible.
Add in the small-business hustle, the behind-the-scenes chaos of events, and Joss’s unexpected modeling side gig, and you get a romance that’s cozy, uplifting, and satisfying from start to finish. If you love supportive heroes, curvy heroines chasing their dreams, and interconnected romance worlds, Synfully Sweet is an absolute treat. 🍰💖.

This was a sweet read. Joss is former military working at a convention center as a security guard and moonlighting as a model. He hates the model gig but after his ex stole his savings and left him with nothing he needs the extra money. He is having a hard time adjusting back to civilian life and wondering aimlessly without a purpose o goal. Syndal works at an insurance company but her dream is to open up her own chocolate shop. She is introverted but determined to reach her goals so she puts herself out there and makes and sells treats as a vendor at conventions. She has been hurt in the past and finds trusting people hard. Joss has heard about Syndal’s treats and finds her table. What he never expected was the attraction he immediately felt with her. Syndal thinks Joss is the hottest man she has ever seen and when he asks for her number She thinks he is joking. What happens when she finds out he’s not. Joss is hot, former military, wary of catty women, over protective and possessive. Syndal is introverted, shy and fun shy when it comes to both relationship and friendships. She has been hurt in the past and tries to save herself from future heartbreak. She has to decide if Joss is worth the risk. I love protective Joss is over Syndal and the fact that they are both hardworking. Joss Instantly knows that Syndal is his future, now If he can just convince her she is worth loving. The found crazy family at the end is just chefs kiss on an already great read.
Synfully Sweet is part of the multi author series Side Hustle.
Ember delivers a 5 star, instalove feel good story for Syndal and Joss with low drama, steamy scenes and a HEA that will give you the warm fuzzies.
Joss is ex military trying to adjust back to civilian life - which has been a little bit harder thanks to a deceitful ex girlfriend. He's got a protective streak and when he lays eyes on Syndal all the feelings he thought were buried come to the surface.
Syndal just wants to make people happy through her treats. She loves to make them and wants nothing more than to make it her career. When Joss appears by her side, she believes it's a trick and shoots down his date request. But absence makes the heart grow fonder and 2 weeks of replaying the situation has her eager to change the outcome.
Joss and Syndal together are sweet, they compliment one another by showing up and supporting each other.
What to expect 💜 Dual POV 💜 Instalove 💜 Veteran x Sweet Treat Maker 💜 Interlinking Characters (Hi Banks Ink, Suburban Outcast and Higgins Security Crew) 💜 Steamy Scenes 💜 Protective Alpha MMC 💜 Smart & Curvy FMC 💜 Found Family 💜 Romance Cover Model 💜 Cat Mum 💜 5 Star Read 💜 HEAs
Great 5 star read, everything Ember writes I'm reading.
This was a cute, learning to love yourself novella with such a feel good ending. Syndal runs Synfully Sweet, a chocolate side hustle while also working a dead end job she hates in insurance. Joss is former military working security at conventions and as a romance book cover model. It’s at one of those conventions that they meet. Their meet cute is adorable awkward and I’m so glad they got a do over at the next one. Syndal seems almost neurodivergent, so that was a nice touch seeing her navigate things. She seems to break the fourth wall a bit talking directly to the reader which I’m not always a big fan of, but it worked in spots. I always love when Amelia and the Denver crew show up in a book and set everything to right. She’s like a mini fairy godmother at this point. I do wish we got a bit more of the Cindy story, like Joss shows up to pick her up from work or something to shove the truth in her face. No cheating or OM drama, slight OW drama, dual POV, HEA and the perfect epilogues in the future. Can’t wait to see what’s next for the Denver crew!
Despite the fact that her name sounds like p-rn-graphic footwear, I really liked Syndal. She loved selling her chocolate treats because she loved to make people happy. She is pure sunshine. But this isn’t a grumpy-sunshine romance because Joss isn’t a grump. When he looked at Syndal, he absolutely lit up. He is former military, and his side gig is being a romance novel cover model. Which made me ridiculously happy. He’s also likable, especially in the way he treated Syndal. The Instalove is over the top, but in the best kind of way. It’s hearts and flowers, not sturm und drang. I love when an Instalove isn’t full of wangst. The love story is very sweet with some grade-a steam. Book is SAFE. Heat is EXPLICIT. TRIGGERS are body shaming. TROPES include Instalove, Former Military, Sweets to the Sweet.

*Synfully Sweet* by Ember Davis is the seventh installment in the fun *Side Hustle* series. I absolutely loved the sweet and charming story of Joss and Syndal! Syndal is all about creating delicious treats and loves attending different events to promote her budding business. Joss, a cover model who also works security at these events, has heard all the buzz about Syndal's special treats but has never had the chance to stop by her booth—until now!
At their next event, their paths finally cross, and what a meeting it is! Their opposite personalities spark an instant attraction, and their flirty banter leads to some sweet, steamy moments together. This delightful read is perfect for a cozy afternoon, with no cheating and a protective alpha military hero paired with a curvy heroine. Get ready for a heartwarming happily ever after!

Joss works security at conferences and events, and modelling on the side (for romance book covers!). Syndal works in insurance (yawn) but makes chocolate for markets and events. They are both working a conference and completely hooked on each other, although it takes Syn a while to put her trust in him.
This was a short, speedy read. The intensity between the characters was borderline obsessive in the best, can’t-look-away kind of way. Perfect if you’re in the mood for a quick but intense read! I picked up this book as part of the Side Hustle multi-author series, which has been interesting so far!.

Synfully Sweet is the second story I have read by Ember Davis and as a instalove romance it hit the mark. Working side gigs at conventions, both the main characters, Joss and Syndal, are engaging and recognise their instant attraction to one another. The plot and storyline is simple and well paced but definitely draws you in with each of the characters personal struggles and circumstances driving their interactions, and, in the case of Joss, his intense, almost obsessive need to make Syndal his. With chemistry that sizzles and some pretty spicy scenes that kept me turning the pages, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and definitely recommend.

WHO DOESNT WANT A COVER MODEL AS THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHER??!!?!?!?
Also, I really would love to see the dick binky/pacifier mold in real life. (Did I amazon search for it? Yes. Did I find it? No… So Ember I need you to explain to me where you had this idea and if there is in fact an actual mold for it somewhere in life…)
I know the FMC blame is Syndal but my brain kept autocorrecting my thoughts to Synful so Syn was what I called her.
I love how Ember was able to easily connect Higgins security and Banks Inc. to this books. (She is really good at it!)
Definitely one of my favorites from her.
I’m still a little curious if the one dressed as a dragon was from Fourth Wing? (Would love to know!!)
This book is a part of the Side Hustle series and focuses on Joss and Syndal. Joss is former military who is actively trying to rebuild his life after his ex left him in a bad spot financially. He took a job working security for a conference center while also doing modeling for book covers on the side. While working his security job for a conference, he meets Syndal at her booth and immediately knows that she is the other half of him. His life changed in an instant and he had finally found his new purpose in life. Together, they created a pretty sweet life. This was a great story and a great addition to the series.

Syndal may work at an insurance company but the career she really wants is to make her chocolate creations full time. She meets Joss when he is working security at an event where she has a booth and at first she doesn’t believe that a man like him would be interested in someone like her.
Between the end of his military career and a personal betrayal Joss is trying to decide what comes next. When he meets Syndal he is enchanted by both her and her chocolate and now that he has met her he can’t imagine a future without her.
Syndal and Joss were perfect for each other in every way as they only wanted the best for each other and the chance meeting that turns their futures around was perfection.
Synfully Sweet by Ember Davis is part of the multi-author Side Hustle series. I fell in love with this story and the main characters, Syndal and Joss. They are both looking to make their dreams come true. For Syndal that is becoming a full time baker who opens her own shop. Let's just say the treats she makes are more than delectably delicious and will have your mouth watering. Joss is ex military who is having a hard time landing on what he wants now he is back home. He is working a security job and has an unexpected side hustle of being a romance book cover model. When they meet it is instant and forever...with all the sparking love and romance that goes with it.
Syndal & Joss meet while she is working a show with her baked treats. Joss sees her is knows almost immediately that she is meant to be his. He approaches her and asks for a date and she thinks he is joking and immediately regrets not giving him her number but they will meet again at the next show. Joss refuses to not get her number and take her out on a real date. Then they meet the family from Suburan Outcasts, Banks Ink and Higgins Security which changes both of their lives. They even overcome a girl Joss has to do photoshoots with who tried to break them up.

Loved her talking to her cats. They were unspeaking characters in this book! Syndal has a dream of opening her own sweet shop but has to work a drudgery job to pay the bills. She works events on the weekends selling her chocolate and they are hits! I loved her chocolate molds! Joss meets her on a job and knows this woman is someone he wants to get to know.
Their times together are so sweet but Syndal struggles with insecurity and there are mean girls who don’t want to see her happy!
I am loving these shorter stories but they still hit all the high points of a romance story plus a terrific HEA!
This was a really fun book to read! Syndal is trying to save up so she can open a Sweets shop. She works during the day at a job she wishes she could leave. At night she makes chocolates that she sells at various venues. Joss is former military currently working security and doing cover modeling on the side. His ex left him taking all of his savings so he is struggling. He would also like to get a better security job. They see each other often at the events and talk. Syndal does not think that someone like Joss would be interested in her. She is wrong he was attracted to her the first time he saw her and takes his time winning her over!
Syndal is working at a job she hates and hopes one day she will be able to open a storefront for Synful Sweets. Joss is trying to put his life back together after his ex cleaned out his bank account. He is working as a security guard and a side gig as cover model for romance books.
When he first meets Syndal, he wants more than her chocolate treats. They start dating and things change for the better for both of them when they meet the Banks/Outcast group and they take them into their family. This is a fast paced steamy read.

This book is a romance lovers DREAM!!! If you have ever attended a book convention and blushed as you took a pic with the hawt cover model..... this book is for you!! Syndal is selling her chocolate creations as a vendor at book events. Joss works security for these conventions but he's also making ends meet by posing for romance book covers. Enough said.... read this one!! lol
Memorable passages: This man is far too hot to be working this convention as security. Honestly, he shouldn’t be working at all. He should be doing what all gods should be doing—lounging on chaises and tipping their head back as maidens feed them grapes, seedless of course, with gentle fingers.
This book is part of a multi author series called Side Hustle. Tropes: ex military, security guard, side hustle, and candy maker, and curvy FMC Syndal works in an insurance office but her true passion is making chocolate. Joss is ex military trying to deal with civilian life again. To make ends meet he works as a security guard and romance cover model. I loved Joss and Syndal together. She's insecure about her weight and he makes her feel beautiful. The way Joss supports her is sweet. Enjoyable read.

Holy lord…..Joss somehow exudes golden retriever energy with his eagerness to be with and love Syndal but at the same time has this growly feral dirty talking energy in the bedroom….I LOVE it!!!!!
Syndal herself is AWESOME!!!! Curvy…a little hesitant…. But totally owning her chocolate cocks😳😂😍(yes, that’s what I said…read it…you’ll love it!!!)
I started this book thinking it was gonna be sweet and cute and it was…. But then BAM!!!! It was HOT and awesome and I couldn’t put it down!!.

The characters drove the storyline and they were so very appealing and likeable and perfect together. Plot was well written and straightforward. World building was solidly drawn. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Part of the multi-author Side Hustle series, Ember Davis pens Joss and Syndal's story in Synfully Sweet. A veteran working security and moonlighting as a book cover model in Joss, a wannabe baker in Syndal, and more chemistry than one can handle. Ember Davis is a master in delivering instalove romance high in the heat department and low on drama. A perfect curl-up-on-a-wintry-day romance.

If you are looking for a quick read, and prefer insta-love instead of a slow burn, this is the book for you! Joss is all in from the moment that he finally meets Syndal at a convention.
Not just for the yummy chocolates which she makes, not just because she has a kind soul, but because he loves her unconditionally. I loved that whenever there is any doubt, the misunderstanding is cleared real fast!
Loved this fast paced romance as Joss knows right from his first glance and taste he’s met the woman of his dreams. Syndal is wary of people getting close to her, and has felt the sting of betrayal before, she’s wondering if this time she can trust her instincts. Enjoyed how the Suburban Outcasts and that whole family was worked into the storyline.
